It was since I first became a brony that I drempt about visiting the enchanting land of Equestria and meeting my favorite ponies, and for a long time I thought this experience was far out of my reach, until one day I decided that i'd had enough of this world, and if my machine worked I would be able to share it with my fellow bronies. I previously discovered an alternate dimension where the land of Equestria was reality and the universe we know is fiction. The machine I had created would morph the human anatomy and modify DNA to make you into a pony and then send you to the pony dimension. previous tests on willing bronies have indicated that the transformation process is extremely painful, but at least it works. I feel anxious, I know the transformation is painful but I hate pain. so I decide to take some painkillers and prepare what I need I grab my laptop, my headset and my favorite beanie. I program the machine to make me become my OC, green and yellow mane, grey coat and pegasus wings. I take my place on the machine's platform as it counts down to the transformation. As the machine counts down thoughts are racing through my head, yet I still have enough time to think about them, like time is in slow motion, "when I get there where will i go?" Ponyville duh. "what will I do?" um...find...uh derpy maybe? ever since I became a brony and started to watch the show from the start I saw her, standing there in the first episode with the cross eyed expression I love so dearly, Derpy Hooves her beautiful blonde mane, her golden eyes... oh, her eyes they are her best feature. more questions, "where will derpy be?" i don't know, delivering mail maybe? "where will i stay?" hopefully with derpy but i could stay somewhere else. i could sleep on a cloud i suppose I will become a pegasus after all. just as i start to think about what i will look like as my OC i am yanked back into the cursed reality i was so soon to escape, "...ONE" the machine says as I suddenly feel pan flowing through my being, my bones being broken and re-assembled
the painkillers i took a little while ago arn't working all i feel is pain, pain through my body dear GOD does it hurt! I see my vision flare up in a bright white light and then, darkness, i had passed out from the pain.
i wake up in a field, feeling better after a nice long snooze on the warm grass, i try to get up but i fall over on my face and my hair drapes over my eyes. i notice that my hair is now green and yellow, i check my hands, they are now hooves! it worked! my machine actually worked! in my excitement i try to get up again, but not having gotten used to my pony body, i fall over again. "oh, yeah pony not human." i remark to myself i try to get up slowly and get my balance when i eventually get up i find that it is very comfortable being on all-fours. i try to walk, it is a little awkward at first but get the hang of it. i fell over a couple of times but at least i've got the hang of getting up. i look around and try to make sense of my surroundings the only identifiable landmark i can see is Canterlot in the distance. i look on the ground next to me and see my beanie, my laptop and my headset. i walk over to them and then a thought pops into my head, "how the hell am i gonna pick these up? i dont have hands." now i know how lyra feels. but she has a magic horn. its not fair. i reach my neck down and pick up my beanie with my mouth and turn my head and toss it on my back and look to pick up the rest of my stuff, suddenly i feel an odd sensation, and my beanie falls of my back. i turn my head to see what had happened, and i get a facefull of wing. i realise that my wings had extended from my body i try to control them but it's hard to figure out. i get the hang of yet another pony behavior and fold my wings back up. i put my beanie back on my back and, after much struggling, i put my headset around my neck. thank god i have a wireless headset. i try to pick up my laptop but it's pretty heavy. i try again and balance it carefully on my back. i head towards the vague shape of Canterlot i saw, hoping that i would find ponyville sooner or later. i walk slowly fearing that my laptop would fall and break if i moved too fast. i admired the scenery and got used to being a pony when i suddenly heard footsteps, no not footsteps, hoofsteps! there was somepony nearby! (i had trained myself to say somepony instead of someone in the time it took to get here) i snuck up behind a tree being careful not to move too fast still aware of my laptop. i looked around to see who was there. i looked left to right but i couldnt see anyone. "hiya!" i heard a voice come from behind me. i was startled so much that i screamed out in shock "AH!" and passed out, again. "hello, hello? anyone home?" the pony was still here she (it was a mare) still hung around after i passed out. but how long was i out? "ugh...how long was i out?" i asked the pony.
"oh only about one minute." the voice sounded familiar. i opened my eyes to discover that the pony i was talking to was Vinyl Scratch!
"Vinyl?" i wasn't sure if it actually was her.
"yep, that's me probably the greatest pony DJ this side of Canterlot." gee vinyl has a pretty big ego.
"is my laptop broken?"
"no, i dont think so. but i dont know why you have it, you cant really press the keys with your hooves." this hadn't occured to me.
"i just keep it around because i like it. it's special to me."
"uh, huh. well it ain't broke. but DUDE the way you freaked out was epic!"
"um...thanks, i guess." i really don't know how to react to someone who finds someone freaking out epic.
"why did you stay here after i passed out?" i said getting up.
"like i said your freakout was epic and i wanted to tell you that. your lucky you woke up though, i was just about ready to give up on you." man that is lucky.
"thanks for not leaving." i said managing a smile.
"nah man its cool." vinyl raises her hoof and holds it in front of her. i know what i have to do "c'mon man don't leave me hangin'"
i raise my own hoof and bump it against her's it feels good performing a normal action amongst normal ponies.
i linger in my own thoughts for a moment and then get back to talking with vinyl. then i realise something. "hey why are you all the way out here?"
"all the way out here? what are you talking about ponyville is like ten minutes away man." really? wow i must have been closer than i thought to ponyville. or i can just walk really fast.
"can you take me there?" i didn't want to be left alone.
"sure, c'mon, lets go." and so we walked along together towards ponyville.
"so what are you doing walking around out here, i thought life for you was all wubs and turntables."
"as much as you may think, i do like to enjoy peace and tranquility sometimes" there was a tone of angry seriousness in her voice.
"ok, sorry, i didnt mean to offend you." vinyl burst out laughing.
"you need to lighten up man" we stop for a moment and she puts her hoof around my neck and prods my chest with her other. "don't be so uptight, your almost as bad as octavia."
"octavia melody?"
"yeah thats her, she can be cool at times though." i didnt think vinyl and octavia hung out together very often.
"i didn't think you guys hung out together."
"of course we do she's my best friend."
"can i be your second best friend?" i ask shyly.
"sure man" she said prodding my chest again. i felt better knowing i had a friend. a smile spread across my face. "do you have many friends?"
"not really, i'm really shy so i dont talk to many ponies."
"aww, well allow me to be one of the first to be your friends." this made me feel better. "and maybe you will find somepony to be your very best friend, huh, huh, huh you catch my drift" i did. i was aware that i was blushing and turned my head away from vinyl.
"HA, DUDE YOU'RE TOTALLY BLUSHING!" oh shit she saw! quick say something!
"n-n-no you're blushing" nice comeback.
"ooh, real quick with your comebacks there arn't you buddy." i know that this is all a joke yet i found myself wandering away from vinyl. her laughing stops "aw, c'mon don't be that way man" she runs up beside me. "it was all a joke"
"i know."
"so why'd ya leave me?"
"i dont know actually."
"it is true though" she says seriosly
"what is?"
"you finding somepony special" she was right is was painfully clear to me that i would find that somepony ... or they would find me.
The latter seemed more likely as i am extremely shy. i wanted so badly for that somepony to be Derpy.
"hey vinyl."
"yeah?"
"can i tell you somthing without you laughing at me?"
"yeah sure" i wasn't sure this promise was going to be kept but i trusted her.
"i kinda...y'know...like-"
"whoa! you actually like somepony!"
"well...yeah kinda"
"well c'mon then tell me who it is" a wide smile of anticipation spread across vinyl's face.
"i kinda...well y'know like...derpy"
"the mailmare?" she seemed both confused and suprised.
"yeah" i blushed some more.
"dude" vinyl said with what i think was approval. "she is a nice pick."
"you say that like she is a fruit"
"if she was a fruit she'd be ripe and juicy" i'm not sure whether to be offended or repulsed.
"so you like her?" i asked confused.
"if i were a stallion yeah"
"so do you think i have a chance with her?"
"of course dude"
"but im hopeless at talking to girls"
"and i'm not a girl am i?"
"no you're different"
"how am i different?"
"i feel comfortable talking to you"
"well feel comfortable talking to derpy because i'm gonna introduce you to her tomorrow"
"what! no!" i couldn't even fly what if she was flying?! i felt like having a panic attack.
"dude you should totally ask her out, or at least have a proper conversation"
"but-"
"no buts! i am gonna introduce you to her tomorrow or i will tell her you like her myself!" blackmail, an evil tactic.
"aw c'mon vinyl, i havn't even been here for a day and already you're already blackmailing me!"
"wait you havn't even been here for a day?" i dont know why this is so confusing.
"yeah i just got here" oh god please dont ask where from.
"you better avoid pinkie pie then if you want to be alone with derpy tomorrow" i wasnt sure why i would need to do this but i soon realised why. pinkie throws parties for new ponies in town, I'M NEW! oh crap it's bad enough vinyl's making me meet derpy tomorrow it's gonna be worse if pinkie throws a party for me! even though i would kinda like a party, i won't be able to be alone by myself.
i decided to accept fate. i sigh "where do you want me to meet." i said weakly.
vinyl thought for a moment. "oh, i got it! outside the library, in the garden." this was actually a good choice. not that i was doubting vinyl's choice in scenery or anything.
"ok i'll see you there tomorrow."
"ok get yourself rested up"
"oh yeah that reminds me, where am i gonna stay?"
"you can stay at my place" staying at a girls house on my first day here! i'm either doing really well or really badly.
"do you have a spare room?"
"no the only two rooms in my house are mine and Octavia's"
"so where will i sleep?"
"well...you can either sleep in my bed..." we both blushed together. vinyl was quick to dump the option onto her friend. "or you can sleep with Octavia." vinyl blushed less but i only blushed harder. her choice of words could not have been worse.
"um..."
"oh...sorry i didn't mean it like that" she began to blush again.
"it's...ok"
"well there's always the couch" thanks to the subject being changed we both stopped blushing.
"i'll take it!" i may have been too quick to answer but vinyl didn't notice.
"great that'll be ten bits" i was shocked
"TEN BITS!"
"chill out dude it's only a joke i'll let you stay for free."
"thanks i don't have any money"
"well i'll loan you some for your meeting with Derpy tomorrow"
"thanks" we didn't realize but we had been in Ponyville for the last ten minutes.
"i'll see you later man" vinyl said.
"see ya" with vinyl gone i was left to explore both myself and the town, my first plan was to go somewhere and practice flying and then get something to eat, man was i hungry.
I ended up changing my plan and eating first then flying practice it turns out that i am a better flyer than i thought being able to get off the ground and all. as the day was drawn to an end i made my way to vinyl's house to find Octavia home as well as vinyl. vinyl was listening to music in her headphones and Octavia was practicing her cello, she wasn't half bad. Octavia stopped playing.
"can i help you?" Octavia asked.
i was distracted by the interior of the house "hmm? oh! uh vinyl said i could stay here for the night."
"did she now?" Octavia said shooting vinyl a glance. vinyl didn't notice. instead of trying to get vinyl's attention by shouting at her she threw a small object at vinyl. this got her attention.
"hey!" vinyl said, taking off her headphones.
"vinyl did you say that this stallion could stay here?" Octavia asked.
"yeah he's a friend of mine"
"oh really? what's his name?"
"uh... what is your name?" vinyl asked me. it occurred to me that during the conversation we had earlier that day i had not mentioned my name or at least my pony name.
"the name's cloud charger, but you can just call me cloud" i said.
"so can he stay now Octavia? huh is a name good enough for you?" vinyl said.
"i guess so, but where will he sleep? he's not sleeping in my bed." Octavia replied. i was half relieved and half offended at this remark.
"nah, he's gonna sleep on the couch" the couch was not small but not huge either maybe just big enough for me to curl up on.
"fine, but he cant stay here forever. he'll have to find somewhere else."
"oh, i'm pretty sure he'll find somepony else's house to crash at soon" vinyl winked at me from behind her glasses. i understood what she meant. she was hoping that i would stay at derpy's place after or even if i asked her out.
"uh,yeah" i said awkwardly.
"well if we have a guest then i guess we'll have to make dinner or I'll have to make dinner." said octavia in a rather annoyed tone.
"oh no its fine i just ate."
"okay but you'll have to make something if you get hungry" octavia seemed to no longer have a problem with me in her home.
"sure" i said. the rest of the night was mainly me sitting down thinking thoughts to myself while octavia played cello music. vinyl eventually got hungry and made a sandwich, she asked me if i wanted one and i accepted. despite having eaten not too long ago i was still hungry. that night i couldn't sleep. i just kept thinking about what might happen tomorrow and how i would approach derpy. i was extremely worried, but eventually i fell asleep. the next day i woke up to find that vinyl was nowhere to be found, and the sound of wubs could not be heard. i looked around the living room. no vinyl and no octavia. where were they? i noticed the clock it was only 10 o'clock in the morning. is this how late they sleep until? i wasn't sure if i should check their rooms. i decided against it and then thought about how octavia had reacted to me yesterday so i thought i'd make breakfast for them. i cooked a nice breakfast and it was either the scent of freshly cooked food that drew them out or they just decided to wake up.
"wow, cloud that smells really good!" said vinyl with a yawn.
"yes, i suppose it does smell good" said octavia reluctantly. a smile spread across my face, i could tell that she had gained a higher opinion of me. after eating our breakfast vinyl checked the clock.
"well we better get going cloud"
"huh? oh, yeah i guess so"
"see ya octavia!" said vinyl
"yeah, bye octavia" i said
"bye guys" replied octavia. vinyl and I left and walked around town.
"so why did we leave? it's not to meet derpy is it?!" i asked.
"no don't worry, derpy needs to deliver mail at the moment. we'll meet her when she has some spare time. so that gives you some time to work on your moves." said vinyl.
"oh..sure" i wasnt too sure what 'moves' i would need. we walked around for a bit chatting about other things, until...WHACK!
"OW!" i shouted. a pegasus had flown too low to the ground and had kicked me in the back of the head.
"HEY WHATCH IT YOU HIT MY FRIEND!" vinyl shouted angrily. it was nice to hear her standing up for me in times of need. "you ok man?"
"yeah i think so" i look up and open my eyes. i can't see anything! my vision is blurred! vinyl starts laughing.
"DUDE! your eyes are messed up!" what the hell is she talking about?
"what? what are you on about?"
"here c'mon i'll show you" vinyl sent me into a nearby photo booth to have my picture taken.
"look see!" i in fact couldnt see.
"i can't see it"
"close one eye" vinyl suggested.
"o...k?" i did as i was told. and saw my face staring out at me. my eyes were screwed up! i looked a bit like derpy! i chuckled at this thought.
"what the hell?!"
"i know right! no wonder you cant see your eyes are MESSED!"
"how long do you think this will last?" i asked kinda worried.
"i have no idea"
"i guess i cant meet derpy after all" i said with fake despair.
"oh no, you're still going on with this. maybe she'll find your eyes attractive." this made me think.
"you think so?"
"maybe" we walked around town for a little more. ponies who saw us either gave us a smile or a dirty look. some ponies even commented on my eyes. one pony asked me if i was related to "that mailmare".
eventually we saw derpy at the Ponyville Post Office.
"go dude this is your chance!" vinyl urged.
"n-n-no i-i-i can't!" i stuttered.
"of course you can! just go!" vinyl shoved me with her head careful not to poke me with her horn, she still did poke me but i didnt care. i was too paralysed with fear to shout in pain. vinyl pushed me right up to derpy and stopped.
"hey derpy, cloud here wants to talk to you" vinyl said. i say nothing.
"is he ok?" asks derpy.
"actually i'm not sure." said vinyl waving her hoof in front of my face. i snap out of my paralysis.
"uh uh uh h-hi d-derpy!" the words stumbled out of my mouth. they barely made any sense to me.
"um, hi?"she replied.
"i-i-i-i-i-i-i..." i went silent again.
"what cloud here is trying to say is-" i quickly cut her off
"NO NOPE NOTHING!" smooth.
"oh, okay then i guess i'll see you around." says derpy with a slight tone of sadness, and turns away to leave.
"no derpy don't go!" i say.
"yes?" derpy turns to face me.
"do you wanna go to get somthing to eat?" the words practically shot out of my mouth. i thought i could see them form out of my mouth for me to read.
"really with me?" said derpy excitedly.
"well...yeah"
"like a date?" derpy was clearly excited by the idea of a date with me.
"yeah..kinda" i could hear vinyl giggling to herself. "shh!" vinyl stopped giggling so much but couldnt stop.
"sure where should we go?" derpy asked. this stumped me because i didnt know many places to get somthing to eat. vinyl wispered to me that she's got it covered. i thought quick.
"it's a surprise." i said.
"ooh great i love surprises!" this was going well.
"when and where should i meet you for our surprise date?" i really wish she would stop using the word 'date'. i thought for a moment.
"about 9 o'clock tomorrow night, i'll pick you up"
"ooh a late date! and you picking me up! wow!" this was going really well.
"so it's settled. 9 o'clock tomorrow night for the surprise date." well my fate is sealed.
"yaaaay! ok bye bye!" derpy flutters off excitedly quietly singing something to herself. i wonder how well she can sing?
"smooth moves bro" vinyl says.
"thanks" i say dreamily.
that night i again cant sleep but i still manage to drift off. i have pleasant dreams about derpy and me together.
that morning i am woken by vinyl.
"cloud c'mon wake up we gotta go!"
"what! how long was i asleep?!"
"not long, but we have a lot to prepare for if you wanna woo derpy tonight"
"what do we have to do?"
"first we have to visit rarity at the boutique to get you a nice suit"
"ok"
"then we gotta prep the restaraunt"
"ok"
"then you gotta pick up derpy"
"oh yeah!"
"got all that?"
"yes"
"well then lets get too it" and so we set off to the Carousel Boutique to get a suit tailored. when we entered i could here rarity's voice.
"hello, can i help you?"
"yeah we need a suit for my friend here" vinyl said shoving me forward.
"hmm, stand still please" i stood still while rarity took my measurements. "ok i have the measurements what kind of style do you want?"
"whaddya want pal?" vinyl asked me.
"well i want something handsome but not too flashy"
"ok, hmm, i think i have just the thing" rarity went away for a moment to fetch a suit for me. vinyl nudged me with her hoof.
"what?" i said.
"something handsome?" vinyl said teasingly.
"oh quiet you" rarity comes back into the room.
"ok here you are, a nice tuxedo for you sir" rarity says. "thankfully you are the right size for a suit that i already have" phew, now i wont have to wait for the suit to be altered.
"thank you, how much?" vinyl asks.
"that'll be seven bits"
"here you are then" vinyl gives rarity the money and rarity hands over the suit.
"thanks see ya!" vinyl takes the suit and puts it in her saddlebag. next we head over to the restaraunt where vinyl had spoken to the owner and arranged for me to prepare my date.
i fly over to derpy's house and land close to the front door and knock.
"derpy!" i call.
"coming!" oh man she sounds so beautiful. the door opens and i see her standing there in a beautiful dress and her gorgeous crossed eyes.
"wow. you look beautiful" i say, trapped by her beauty. derpy giggles.
"thanks, hey your eyes are better!" she actually noticed my eyes yesterday.
"heh, yeah"
"well, shall we?"
"yes, we shall" i say semi-confidently. derpy giggles again.
"you're funny" derpy says, i blush and manage a weak smile.
"heh, thanks" we walk to the restaraunt together chatting the whole way.
"well here we are" i say when we arrive.
"wow! it's so fancy!" derpy says. and i can quite agree. we take our seats. i hear music start to play, it's cello music! no she didn't! she did! octavia came to play music for me!
"hello octavia" i say cheerfully.
"hi cloud" she says but does not stop playing.
"you know vinyl AND octavia! wow!"
"it's not that cool"
"it is for me. i love music"
"really i do too!" common intrests GREAT! as the night plays out we have a lot of fun. we ate out food (which happened to be muffins thanks to me) we chatted some more and we walked home together. we stood at the door to derpy's house.
"i had a lot of fun tonight cloud" says derpy
"so did I, because i got to spend time with you" derpy blushes.
"thank you for tonight. you make me feel like the happiest mare in town when you're around" now it's my turn to blush too.
"you're welcome"
"hey cloud?"
"yes derpy?"
"i love you"
"i love you too derpy" we lean closer too each other, stop and back off. both blushing. i become too shy to try again but derpy has confidence like you wouldn't believe. she leans close, and gives me a deep passionate kiss. the moment feels like it lasts forever, but all good things have to come to an end.
"goodnight derpy"
"goodnight cloud" i try to leave but i cant seem to find my balance, i fall over halfway down the path and pass out from the excitement. the only thought in my head before i hit the ground, was "why now?"
"cloud, cloud are you ok? oh please don't be dead!"
"i hope i'm not dead because i think i died and went to heaven" nice.
"oh, cloud" says derpy with a giggle. i notice a change in my surroundings.
"hey where are we?
"we're in my house"
"your house?"
"yeah, just after you passed out i brought you inside"
"thank you derpy"
"that's ok"
"hey derpy?"
"yes cloud?"
"do you know any lullabies?"
"well i do know one"
"can you sing it to me?"
"of course"

don't you cry dear i'm here now, to rock you to sleep again." i didn't get to hear the whole song. i drifted off half way through and slept happily through the night to awake next to derpy on her living room floor. she stayed with me all night! i enjoy the moment and nuzzle close to her, i cover her with one of my wings to keep her warm. we stay together for most of the morning until derpy wakes up. i had fallen asleep again but derpy wakes me up and gives me a kiss. we get up and derpy explains that no stallion as ever taken much interest in her until she met me.
"derpy?"
"yes cloud"
"you have a lovley voice" this time i'm the one to kiss her.
"and your a lovley kisser" she blushes and so do I.
