The Earthquake

Previous Chapter

Washington D.C, United States...

Barack Obama sat at his desk. He rummaged through papers before picking one up, and reading it carefully. He grabbed a pen, and he clicked it open. He signed his name, and placed aside. He continued to do so, throwing some out and signing some. He heard footsteps coming to his door, and his secretary burst in. He gasped for breath, and wheezed, leaning down.

"What seems to be the problem?" Barack Obama asked, getting up from his desk.

"You... *Wheeze* ...should really see this... Mr. President..." He said, before getting up and walking down the hall. Barack Obama followed, and walked by his secretary. His secretary looked at his papers.

"There is something going on with the sun." He said. "Something very unusual." Obama thought about this for a moment.

"The... Sun?" He asked, surprised.

"Yes. It seems to have changed color." His secretary said simply, addressing someone walking by, by waving at him, who waved back.

"The sun changed color... How is that even possible?" Barack Obama asked, whipping around another corner, his black shoes squeaking on the white house floor.

"We don't know. All we know is that the sun has suddenly turned pink, and is spreading some sort of unknown gas out, which is effected by gravity. We estimated that the gas will reach us on April 23, 2020. His secretary said. Barack Obama looked sternly at his secretary.

"Are you sure about this?" He said.

"Positive." His secretary responded. He walked into a room, and loaded up his computer. A second later, a picture of the sun came up. It was it's respective color.

"This was two days ago." He said. "And this..." The color changed to pink. "Is now."

Barack Obama sighed. This was a phenomenon, alright.

"Do you know what the gas will do?" Obama asked, curious if this was some sort of end of the world scenario.

"No..." His secretary said, sighing. "But we do know we can't do anything about this."

Obama nodded. 2020 was a long way away, and with nothing to do about it... we just have to wait and see.

"Don't announce this to the public until April 2020. We don't want to cause a panic before it's necessary." Obama said. "All we can do is... pray that it won't be harmful."

2020, April 1st...

The crowded city of New York was shining, bustling with people. It was a beautiful sight. But everybody got a fright when every single TV screen on planet earth lit up with a live video of Barack Obama. The adds in Times Square suddenly changed, and everybody looked on, as the president gave his speech.

"Hello. This is Barack Obama, president of the United States, for an important message to the world." He said, with a half stern half worried expression on his face. People began to whisper to each other as he began his speech.

"This is not a joke, but the sun, as I'm sure most of you have noticed, has changed to pink. We didn't want to alarm you, but there is a gas coming straight for out planet." This was translated to almost every single language on planet earth. People gasped, and began panicking almost instantly.

"We have no idea what it will do, but it will reach planet earth on the twenty third. We wish that if this is the end of the world as we know it, that we will die with dignity. This is humanity, and we will not die in a whisper, but with a bang. This gas can harm us, kill us, or not do anything. But understand that if this truly is the end of the world, understand that we will never die completely. We will live on. Thank you." The message faded, leaving only shocked citizens around the globe. Nobody would expect what would happen next.

2020, April 23...

The whole globe braced them selves for what could be oncoming disaster, as the gas entered our atmosphere. It was heading straight for the continents and islands, and no one could do anything. The gas came closer and closer. It was announced through all the TV's, radio's, and communication devices on earth.

"500 feet." A robot voice announced. Family's huddles together, waiting what could be the end of the world.

"400 feet."

"I want you to understand that this is not the end. We will live on, and there is always that chance that it is harmless." Barack Obama announced.

"300 feet."

"200 feet."

"100 feet."

"Goodbye for now, people of earth." Obama said.

"50 feet."

"Goodbye."

"Hit."

A light blew through the world, lightning up everything. Barack Obama covered his eyes. It was like an atomic bomb had exploded right there in Washington D.C.

Then a loud bang broke every window in the globe, and everyone became weightless. Obama's eyes widened as he realized that he was floating. But it only lasted a second, as a sudden burst of gravity sent everything crashing down. Blackout. Rumble. Earthquake.

Third Person P.O.V...

An earthquake shook the world, buildings collapsing and all sorts. Equis had the same earthquake, although nobody realized, but the they were in a land of ponies.

Easter Island, 10 Minutes A.E (After Earthquake)...

The moai on Easter Island had fallen over, almost all of them cracking open and splitting. The entire island was split in half by a fault that nobody knew was there.

New York City, 10 Minutes A.E...

The city was devastated, smoke rose from everything and cars beeped. Sirens flared. As the dust settled, people came out of they're houses and looked at the wreckage, terrified and dirty. A crack in the world ran through Central Park, from east side to west side. Times Square was filled with wreckage, completely unrecognizable. The Empire State Building lay in ruin, with only the antenna sticking out from the rubble, slanted. The Brooklyn Bridge was one of the only bridges to not fall over, slanted slightly, but driveable. The Statue of Liberty was missing her arm and torch, which lay at the bottom of the water. The Chrysler building had caved in, but the top smashed through the MetLife Building, which did not fall over despite what had happened. New York was never going to be the same.

Paris, 10 Minutes A.E...

The once great city of Paris was gone, a huge crack running through the center, ripping the Eiffel Tower in half. Almost the entire top had caved into the ravine, only leaving the supports separated by the crack. The Louvre had completely shattered, and the ancient treasures, the irreplaceable statues, were shattered like glass. The Mona Lisa was torn to shreds, and the ancient painting lay crushed and destroyed, burning due to fire. The Arc De Triomphe was in pieces, destroyed. Paris was gone.

London, 10 Minutes A.E...

The city of London, capital of Great Britain, lay in pieces and burning. The London Eye was ripped in half, and Big Ben was crushed. It's hands were smashed into pieces, and littered the street. Smoke came up from everything, as a fire had started. It came through the entire city of London, burning most of it. The Queen of England hadn't survived the Earthquake, almost nobody in London had.

Rome, 10 Minutes A.E...

Rome was broken to pieces, but the majority of it survived. It had managed to do fairly well, with a large chunk of people surviving. But it still lay in ruin, completely smashed to bits. The famous Roman Colosseum has somehow managed to not collapse, and people climbed out of they're hiding spots, and were astonished to find the majority of they're city fine. Although that still didn't excuse the major death polls that this city had none the less.

Tokyo, 10 Minutes A.E...

Tokyo had been washed away, the huge earthquake stirred up a Tsunami that devastated Japan. The Tokyo was almost completely gone, and almost nobody had survived. A few still clinged to poles as the wave left the city, leaving debris everywhere. The Tokyo Sky Tree was snapped in half, and smashed with a crack. It was obliterated, as well as most of the city. It was gone.

Cairo, 10 Minutes A.E...

The city of Cairo was destroyed, as smoke rose from the ruin. Only a few dozen people survived the great Cairo earthquake. The Pyramid of Giza was unhurt, but the Sphinx's head had collapsed. The city was obliterated. Never to be seen again.

Sydney, 10 Minutes A.E...

Sydney had gotten a massive Tsunami, wiping out everything. The Sydney opera house had been destroyed in the quake, and the debris was carried and smashed throughout the city. The Sydney harbor bridge was gone, completely decimated. It was like it never existed. Without any survivors at all, having been all washed away by the Tsunami, Sydney may as well never existed.

Rio De Janerio, 10 Minutes A.E...

The city of Rio De Janerio was gone, mostly destroyed, as the statue of christ the redeemer smashed down onto the city, not even the base survived. It was completely destroyed, and carried out by another Tsunami. It was washed away, and soon landed near a landmass... But it didn't survive anyway. It was destroyed. Almost nobody survived.

Los Angeles, 10 Minutes A.E...

Los Angeles was rocked like mad. The entire city was destroyed, and Hollywood was gone. The Hollywood Sign tumbled down the hill, smashing into bits on the jagged rocks. The second most populated city in the U.S was gone. The U.S Bank Tower slid down, smashing into pieces as it hit the ground, crushing another building beneath it's weight. It was the second most devastated city in the world, second to Cairo. The debris was washed away like Rio De Janerio, and not a soul survived. The entire thing was washed away never to be seen again.

The world was devasted. Two billion people died that day. But there was one more surprise in store for these humans... one that they will never forget...
