Friend of the Moon
Quitting the Guard
Previous ChapterQuitting the Guard
Today was the best day in court ever.
Not because I wasn't there, because I was, but I'm glad I was.
Not because I finally got some action, because I didn't, and I don't care. I was still elated.
Today was the best day ever because Princess Luna was in day court. The herald of the night was sitting right next to me, so for once I was glad that I was on guard next to the throne with my 2nd in command, Shinning Armour, because I got to be next to the bringer of the night and patron of the moon.
The reason she is here right now and not sleeping is because Princess Celestia invited her to join her in day court, to help there subjects get to know her better and help them be less afraid of her.
This is what pisses me off.
Instead of being less afraid of the Princess of the night, all the nobles come in with there usual hotty attitude, but as soon as they catch a glimps of Princess Luna there eyes go wide with fear and they are immediately more submissive because there to afraid of what, 'Nightmare Moon' would do if they stood up against her.
Even though she never said a word. Witch is another thing that makes me mad. Celestia invited Luna to HELP with court, not just sit idly by while she dealt with everything, and still letting everypony fear her as if she were still that demon Nightmare Moon.
As the day went on, my eyes were growing progressively redder, signifying my growing anger. By the end of the day my eyes were practically glowing with how mad I was. Incidentally, Celestia noticed this and decided to speak up after the last noble left.
"Captain," Celestia said, gaining my attention, "your eyes are practically glowing red. Is something the matter?" I was tempted to deny this, but one quick glance at the down ridden Luna exterminated any reservations I had with lightning speed.
"*sigh* Yes your Highness," I said, getting looks from everypony in the room except Luna. "Incidentally something is wrong."
This got a curious look from her. "Oh? Then tell me, what is amiss?"
Well, this is it. "Well, Your Highness. It's just that you seem to have forgotten somepony during the decision making process."
Everypony in the room, whether they guard or princess, looked at me. The Guards expressions were of shock, while Lunas was surprise and Celestias was unreadable. "Excuse me?" Celestia said in an unamused tone.
"Well, it's just that you invited, Princess Luna to court today to help her subjects become less afraid of her. Correct?" She nodded for confirmation. "I don't see how that goal was accomplished when you didn't let her speak a single word all day."
The room was so quit that I thought the atoms themselves stopped moving. Even Luna was shocked into silence. Apparently Celestia didn't like my comment, as I could tell by her slightly angered face. "Excuse me? My sister could have spoken at any time if she simply wished. What right do you have to tell me that I was not allowing her to speak?" My eyes, witch had turned back to there normal color started to get red again.
"Well," I began, "I know for a fact that Princess Luna wanted to give her two bits on a multitude of occasions. You just never gave her the chance because you would always give your judgement without even giving her a glance to see if she had something to add. Not to mention asking her opinion." I couldn't tell you how the other guards and Luna looked, but Celestia looked downright pissed! " And not only did you never let her speak," My eyes were progressively getting redder and redder as I went on, "but you also used the fear she was unwillingly instilling in the nobles to get court done with sooner rather then help dissuade there fears of her still being possessed that demon Nightmare Moon! If I didn't know any better, I would think that you were thankful she got possessed sense it gave you an excuse to banish her without looking like a tyrant, but rather a hero!!"
If she was pissed before, she's infuriated now. "WHAT!!!! YOU THINK I WANTED TO BANISH MY SISTER?! YOU ARE NOTHING BUT A GUARD! YOU KNOW NOTHING OF THAT TIME!!!"
...
...
Ya, like I said. Infuriated.
And now my eyes are literally glowing. Because I am to.
"You want to know what I think? I think you were a power hungry bitch, who would do almost anything to gain more control. So when Luna was possessed you saw your chance to have complete control with nopony to challenge you! So when you used the elements, rather then doing what any decent pony would do and return her to normal, freeing her from her possession, you instead banish her to the moon! JUST TO FEED YOUR WANT FOR POWER!!!!"
"You think I had a choice!? If I could have changed her back to normal I would have. What do you know about the Elements that makes you think I can control how they work?"
"More than YOU apparently! The Elements are a tool, not a sentient being. Anypony could use them. Even a Minotaur! They follow through with the will of the wielder, just like a sword." I stated mater of factually. "How do you think Twilight and her friends were able to turn Princess Luna back into herself?"
"W-w-w-well, you see, sense they have a strong bond between them the Elements power got magnified. This allowed them to preform much grater feats of magic then when Luna and I were the wielders!" Clever girl. But that is a week last second excuse.
"Oh? Then how come when they fought discord they were unable to do anything better then what you and Luna did? If the elements really are strengthen by there friendship then they would have been able to do something more permanent they turning him back into stone!"
Celestia's face went into one of surprise. "W-we-well, um you see-"
"Stop!" She stopped talking and just looked at me. I got her now. "You lost Celestia. Quit while your behind." She opened her mouth to speak but shut it when no words came out. "I am unwilling to serve under you any more Celestia. I quit the guard." The other guards gasped, and I bowed. "I recommend Shinning Armour for the new captain." That's the last words I spoke before I left the throne room and back to the barracks to pack my things, and left. Leaving the room behind me in shock.
