Hero
The end?
Previous ChapterAfter delivering Nighthawk to the west dungeon, Star Chaser had returned to office. The delivery had gone off with hitch, much to the surprise of everyone involved. Nighthawk were known for escaping, sometimes by herself, sometimes with the help of rebels.
Unfortunately, the governor wasn't in at the time of delivery. Arvid had been leading his troops on cracking down a rebel hideout with the information coaxed from the other mare with Nighthawk. Iron Heart had volunteer stay behind til the guard force had return.
The entire police station had been in a celebration mood, but not Star Chaser. The deputy had to maintain a calm mind at all times, the endless conflict will never be over, not until every last pony gave up resistance.
"Hey, bossssss!" A half-drunken officer called out. Star immediately recognized that loud mouth as Golden Shine, one of his long time subordinate.
Throwing a glare at him, Star chided, "Don't drink in the office."
"But -" Golden Shine tried to argue, but Star was quicker in slamming the door shut as he entered the deputy office.
Once inside his private office, Star locked the door. The party is continuing full-force outside, some probably brought their own slaves along for entertainment. But the office proved soundproof enough. Ignoring the celebration outside, Star sat down and began working on the endless paperwork.
One thing that didn't change during the fall was those paperwork. Of course, the new government doesn't demand that much paperwork. But the police department still stuck to the old rules and regulations.
The first thing he worked on was the report detailing the entire incident, next was adding to Nighthawk's case notes, and finally was the form for prisoner transfer. Once finished, he started filing them away to the correct cabinets, all according to guideline.
Although there's just one tiny problem, the form for prisoner transfer needs to be send to the receiving department.
'Well, that's just too bad' Star Chaser thought. Getting a candle out from his drawer, Star's horn glowed a soft blue as the candle lighted up its blue flame. Rolling the form up into a scroll, he set it on fire using the candle. The paper burned quickly, leaving only dust onto the wind.
Star Chaser let out a sign of relief as the scroll was burned. 'That's one thing taken care of.... Now for babysitting.'
Yet the work of a deputy never ends, not when your subordinate consisted of brainwashed perverts. If left alone, they'll probably end up burning the city down.
"PARTY'S OVER!!"
It was almost night when they finally finished cleaning everything up. How did a frozen tuna ended up stuck in the ceiling was beyond Star Chaser's understanding. Not that he actually wanted to know.
"Boss, what do we do with the tuna?" Golden Shine asked, to which Star answered with a glare. Shrugging, Golden carried the tuna away.
However, the door bursted open before Golden could reach it. The bloodied form of Iron Heart wobbled into the room. Alarmed, Star quickly moved to support him.
"What happened?"
"Rebels...West dungeon... It's Blue Rose..." Iron Heart rasped out a reply.
"Golden, take care of him. The rest of you, follow me." Star quickly gave out orders, assembling his men and leaving for the crime scene.
'The work of the deputy never ends.'
It was nearly midnight when Star Chaser finally got home. Even then, the work of the deputy never ends, as he had brought a bag of evidences and paperwork home. The house wasn't big, in fact it was worn down and was at one of the poorer districts. Yet despite everything, Star was happy to be home, and there's a lovely reason for that.
"I'm home." Star said softly as he unlocked and opened the door.
The lights were on in the dinning room, dinner had been laid out on the table. All of this was done by his lovely 'slave', which was currently passed out on the table. She must have dozen off while waiting.
Moonlight was Star's first and only slave. The silver white Pegasus mare was tall and had a slender built, her breast were full but still perky. Gently, Star ran his hands through her blue mane.
"Wake up sleepyhead."
Moonlight woke up with a jerk. Wait no, that's a bit mean to Star. Immediately, Moonlight stood up, "Master! I'm sor-"
"It's OK, I'm sorry for being late."
"A master shouldn't apologize. What if someone heard you?" Moonlight chided, before realizing what she just said.
"Well, they'll know how much I treasure you, sweetie." Star answered while caressing her face.
Embarrassed, Moonlight stammered out, "I-I'll reheat dinner."
Star was content with simply watch his lovely pet work. Moonlight's naked form was pleasant to look at, and she certainly didn't mind his stare. In fact, she began swaying her tail a bit after she had noticed him.
However, Star's eyes drifted to the dirty band aid on her neck.
“You didn't clean the wound?” Star asked, gesturing to her neck.
“I don't want to take it off.” Moonlight answered as she touched the band aid.
“Come here. I'll clean it.”
After Star Chaser finished with cleaning and dressing the cut, Moonlight went back to reheating dinner. Soon, Moonlight was done with the food and prepared the table, lying down one set of eating utensils. After that, she reached for an unopened box of mare feed.
"You haven't ate?" Star Chaser asked.
"Not yet, master."
"Well, you can join me on the table, you certainly prepared enough food for two." Star said with a wink.
"Yes, master." Moonlight said as she set up another set of utensil.
The two made idle chat as they ate, Star talked about his day while Moonlight played the role of the faithful listener. They shared a laugh at the wild party and the mysterious tuna. One thing Star love most about Moonlight was her smile and giggles, seeing her like just made all his stress went away.
After the late dinner and cleaning up, it was time for sleep. Like much of the slave owner's bedroom, Star Chaser's bedroom was equipped with cage. But rarely did Moonlight slept in them, Star Chaser loved her presence. What could be better than sleeping with a beautiful mare that won't say no? A cold empty bed or a warm sweet presence, the choice is simple for Star.
“Master?” Moonlight asked from within Star's warm embrace.
“Yes, dear?”
“I'm just wondering...” Moonlight's voice drifted off towards the end, unsure if she should continue.
“You know you can speak your mind.” Star assured, before adding, “Maybe some punishment depending on what you said.” The way he said 'punishment' clearly meant punishment of a different type, the type one may enjoy very much.
“Well... I'm just having some doubts... About Nighthawk.” Moonlight continued hesitatingly, “You're job is to catch her, right?”
“Yes, and I did caught her, wasn't you listening just now.”
“But the western dungeon was attacked, won't it have a negative effect on you? I heard the governor don't take kindly to failures. Wouldn't it better if she stops once and for all?” Moonlight's tone became worried.
“...” Star Chaser remained silent for awhile, before suddenly changing the topic, “Why do you think Nighthawk exist? Why does she fight?”
“For justice? For a better future?” Moonlight's tone was uncertain.
“Because people wants something to believe in, a hope for a better future. Nighthawk gave them that.” Star answered
“And that's precisely why the deputy needs to catch her.” Moonlight added.
“Maybe someday. But for now, she's still needed, and the deputy's in no risk... Not yet now.” Star continued, “But I certainly don't want Nighthawk out tomorrow.”
“Huh? Why?”
“Because it's Sunday and my day off. Plus I got a little surprise planned for you, my lovely dear.” Star said as he held her closer, inhaling her scent.
“What is it?” Moonlight asked out of curiosity.
“Wouldn't be much of surprise if I told you.”
“Just a clue. Please master~” Moonlight purred.
“Nope, not telling.”
“Pretty please with cherries on top.”
“Go to sleep. You'll know tomorrow.” Star said before yawning, “I'm tired.”
Noticing his weariness, Moonlight stopped her questioning, her master had a tough day, a good slave doesn't bother a tired master.
“Yes, master.”
Author's Note
I'm having doubts on whether people actually understood this ending or not...
I'm going to either work on a sequel or rewrite a bit of this.
