“SERVANT! WHERE ARE YOU?!” a mare’s voice bellowed.
‘Ugh, what now?’ you groaned, as you rolled your eyes.
As you heard the mare call for your presence, you begrudgingly rolled off the couch you were on and headed to the main foyer. As you made your way to the source of the voice, you already knew that it would be for something stupid.
‘How I get myself into this mess?’ you internally groaned.
This was a rhetorical question of course. You knew exactly how it all began. It happened only a year ago.
You and few other humans had arrived in Equestria as one of the few that Princess Celestia brought from Earth. While some chose to go to other cities in Equestria to start a new life, you decided to stay in Canterlot. Being a city boy, you figured that remaining there would be the best place for you. You stayed at the palace for a while, but not wanting to be a freeloader decided to join the working force. Upon looking for a job, you came across a job ad. It said that it came with free room and board, health benefits and average pay. You thought it sounded like the perfect job.
The next day, you made your way to the job interview. You were quite surprised that it was at a reasonably large mansion. As you made your way up to the door, which was a pristine white mahogany door with golden door knobs and golden trim, you couldn’t help but think that you may not be qualified for the job. As you knocked on the door, you were greeted by a light gray earth pony mare in a maid outfit.
“May I help you?” she asked.
“Yes, I’m here about the job offer,” you replied.
“Ah, yes. Right this way, I’ll let my masters know you’ve arrived,” she replied in a posh tone.
As she ushered you in, you in took the exquisite decor. The walls were made from the most exquisite marble, the tiled floors of ivory, the many paintings and vases carefully placed in precise locations.
‘Whoa! This place is fancy!’ you said in awe.
“This way sir,” she said, as she when down a hall.
While you were being guided through the mansion, you immediately felt out of place.

The mare then led you into a small furnished room.
“Please wait here while I fetch my masters,” spoke the mare.
“O-Okay,” you replied as you took a seat on the sofa.
With a bow, she then left to get her employers. After you waited for them for over 25 minutes to arrive, your nervousness started to get the best of you.

Just then, the same mare from before had returned.
“Announcing Jet Set and Upper Crust,” she declared.
You then stood up to greet your hopeful employers. First to enter was a gray unicorn stallion. He had a dark gray feathered mane and tail, and azure eyes. He wore a white collared green shirt with white accents on the end of the sleeves and a white sweater that was tied around his neck.
“Hello there. I’m Jet Set,” he spoke, with a posh tone.
Just then, a pale olive unicorn mare stepped into the room. She has a styled pale indigo mane and tail with light gray streaks, and Persian blue eyes accented by cyan eyeshadow. She wore a white collared shirt with a magenta sweater tied around her neck. As your eyes graced her presence, your heart started to beat faster, and your stomach was all aflutter. The way she sashed her hips while she maintained her chin elevated, she emanated a feeling of “I’m above you.
‘Whoa, she is hot!’
“And I’m his wife Upper Crust,” she spoke.
You quickly snapped yourself back to reality and introduced yourself.
“It’s nice to meet you. So, you’re one of those humans Princess Celestia brought to Equestria, am I correct?” asked Jet Set.
“Y-Yes sir,” you quickly replied.
“Well, let’s have a look at you,” said Upper Crust, as she made her way over to you.
You stood at attention, as the pale olive mare gave you the once over. As Upper Crust seemingly inspected every aspect of your person, you couldn’t help but notice the vanilla and lavender fragrance she was wearing. It sent your senses on a pleasant journey.
‘Wow, she smells amazing…’
After a thorough inspection, Upper Crust seemed pleased with her discovery. She then walked back to her husband and whispered something to him. As they both stared at you, you couldn’t help but gulp.
“So, you’re interested in the position, correct?” asked Jet Set.
You nodded in reply.
“Well, it will require you to do manual labor daily, and you would also need to be willing to handle any given order,” he explained.
“Well, back on earth I was a hard worker. So, I’m sure I’ll be a valuable asset to you,” you spoke with confidence.
“Good, you’re hired. You’ll start first thing Monday morning.”
“R-Really? Thank you!” you stated.
“Yes.”
They both turned to leave. Before she went, Upper Crust turned back and gave you a wink.
“I look forward to you working here,” she smiled.
With that, she took her leave. You internally leaped for joy at the prospect of being able to work in a mansion with a mare as attractive as she was.

Oh, how wrong you were. The next twelve months were the most miserable months of your life. While you were ecstatic that you were going to be Upper Crust’s butler, that novelty quickly faded away when you soon realized how much of a pampered, snooty mare she was. “You called, my mistre-” you started, but was immediately cut off by her hoof pointed at you.
“WHERE WERE YOU?!” she bellowed.
You slightly flinched at the volume of her yell.
“Well, mistress. I was on my break and-”
“I don’t wanna hear your excuses! Next time I call for you; arrive in front of me immediately!”
She used her magic to drag you down by your collar with her magic to meet her at eye level.
“You got it!” she firmly spoke.
“Yes, my mistress,” you gulped.
As she released your collar, you couldn’t help but be amazed at how such an attractive mare could be so intimidating. With a huff, she looked up to you.
“Now, I have something important I need you to do me for you,” she spoke with her usual smug demeanor.

As you swallow your pride, you put on your best fake smile.

With a smug grin, she teleported from the floor into your arms.
“The day has completely worn me out. Can you please carry me to my room?” she asked, with a bat of her eyes.

“Well, Servant?” she stated, with an arched eyebrow.
You then let out a deep sigh.
“As you wish, my mistress…”
She with a triumphant grin she patted you on the head.
“That’s a good servant.”
You began your long trek to the master bedroom. Along the way, you couldn’t help but notice the softness of her fur. It felt as if you were carrying the finest of Saddle Arabian silk. While lost in her smoothness, the familiar scent of vanilla and lavender tickled your nostrils. This scent always had a way to make you feel at ease, despite where the source was coming from. You soon felt a hoof tap your forehead.
“Hello?! I’m talking to you, Servant,” she said, with an annoyed glare.
“I’m sorry, mistress,” you apologized. “What is it that you need?”
“I was asking why you were staring at me like that?”
“Like what, mistress?”
“You were smiling at me with that whimsical grin of yours. It’s grossing me out,” she mentioned with a slightly disgusted look.
“I apologized, my mistress. It won’t happen again,” you spoke, with a partial bow of your head.
“See that it doesn’t, Servant.”
The rest of the trip was spent in silence as you made your way through the halls. When you finally made it to the door, she uses her magic to open the door. She then hopped down from your arms to the floor.
“Thank you, Servant. That’ll be all,” she said, as she trotted inside.
“Yes, my mistress,” you bowed.
As you saw the door close, you saw the smug grin plastered on her face.
‘I reaaaaally can’t stand her!’ you grumbled.
As you turned to head down the hall, you’re greeted by Jet Set.
“Hello there, my boy. How’s your day been?”
You merely rolled your eyes.
“The same as any other day,” you commented.
Jet Set just chuckled at your response.
“That bad, huh?”

“Y’ know, I must commend on your resolve.”
This comment caught you off guard.
“What do you mean, sir?”
“Well, we’ve been through twelve other personal butlers for my lovely wife, and each one quit after the first few weeks. But you’ve weathered the fierce storm that is my dear Upper Crust,” he spoke with a little laugh. “It’s something quite admirable.”
“Really? I had no idea,” you spoke.
“Yes, and to be honest, she’s treated you better than the others.”
“You’re kidding me?!” you spoke incredulously.
“No, I’m serious. I think to some degree she actually might like you.”
To that, you merely scoff.
“She sure has a funny way of showing it.”
“That she does, my boy. Well, in any case, keep up the splendid work.”
“Yes, sir.”
With that, he headed into the master bedroom. As you continued down the hallway, what you were just told had your mind racing. You started to think that maybe the way she treats you is just her way to express affection. But you quickly laugh it off.
‘Nah! She’s just a bitch,” you rationalized.
Later that night, as you were serving them dinner, Upper Crust began to discuss her day with her loving husband. She stopped however when she noticed that you were still in the room. She gave you a snarky glare to silently order you to leave the room. You took the hint and excused yourself from the room. That didn’t stop you from standing on the other side of the dining room door to eavesdrop. You pressed your ear against the door to listen in on the conversation. You heard Jet Set let out a sigh.
“Why must you always treat him like the dear?” he asked.
“Treat who like what?” she inquired.
He said your name.
“You mean Servant?”
“Yes, dear. I know he’s your butler, but you could treat him with a little bit of respect.”
“Why would I do that?”
“Come now, Upper Crust. After all this time you must at least like him, right?”
Upper Crust then erupted with laughter.
“Oh dear, you are too much. Like him? Please, he’s just a rare commodity that I can exploit,” she explained.
“A commodity?” he asked.
‘What the hell does she mean by that?’ you thought.
“I’m not sure I understand dear,” said Jet Set, a little perplexed.
“It’s quite simple. How many unicorns in Canterlot can say they have a human as their butler? Nopony can but me. I’m the envy of everypony in Canterlot.”
“You can’t be serious, Upper Crust.”
“Oh, but I am. Plus, as a bonus, he’s my own personal toy.”
“Your toy?”
“Yes, haven’t you notice how I egg him on with my flirting? The way he acts when I brush past him, the look on his face when I wear the perfume I know he likes. To see his reaction is just too priceless.”
“But, what of all those times her nursed you when you were sick? Surely that must’ve warranted some sense of value for him.”
“Dear he was just doing his job. After all, he is my servant.”
The two continued to argue back and forth about your worth. As you stepped away from the door, you felt a sharp tug in your chest. To find out that she thought of you as nothing more than a bobble in her proverbial crown. That you were a mere toy for her amusement affected you more than you expected. But deep down a small part of you already knew. You thought back you the times she would show you off whenever you two would go out for errands should’ve been your obvious clue. When you were walking, you noticed the door to Upper Crust’s private chamber had a spring green aura around it. Curious, you ventured over to it. It was clear that somepony had placed a spell on the door, but you couldn’t figure out for what reason. You turned the knob to find that it was unlocked. You quietly cracked the door to peek inside, but what you saw inside left you speechless.
