Chapters The Not so Dynamic Encounter
Twas' a typical day in Ponyville.
Pinkie Pie working at Sugar Cube Corner as her gleeful self.
Fluttershy tending to the animals.
And Apple Jack toiling at Sweet Apple Acres with Big Mac.
While deep within the orchards.Apple Jack begins to hear a munching sound.
She follows the sound to one of her apple trees but, there were apple cores lying around it.
"Hey,who in tarnations up there!"
The munching sound stopped and there was no answer.
Apple Jack then went up to the tree and bucked it with her back hooves.
Sending the apples still on the tree and the one eating then falling to the ground.
The culprit was a tan colored stallion pegasus with a map with dashes leading to an "X"on it for a cutie mark
and a long scraggly mane and tail.
Apple Jack then glared at him.
"Who are you and why are you eatin' mah apples?"
The stallion still lying on the ground on the pile of apples was trying not to make eye contact.
These are your trees?I do apologize...but,if you don't mind I must be on my way."
The stallion then sprang up and dashed past Apple Jack to then leap into the air and fly off.
"You git back here and pay for these!"Apple Jack bellowed.
High up,the stallion yelled back "I'll pay ya soon I promise!"
He then set course to Ponyville.
The stallion landed at the entrance of town.
Standing with pride in his posture and a face of pure excitement.
"This is it...my first step to fame, fortune and adventure.
I...Shadow Rider shall go down in history as Equestria's best journalist!"Yelled the stallion prouder than before.
Ponyville was as lively as Shadow anticipated.
The market place with stands for all kinds of wares.
The park filled with all kinds of outdoor decor and ponies relaxing or having fun.
The neighborhood with friendly mares and stallions.Shadow Rider knew, this was his new home.
He couldn't have wanted anyplace better than this.
Town hall was right smack in the middle of Ponyville.
It was mostly dome shaped with a small tower at the pinnacle of it.
This was the place to purchase his homestead.
Shadow approached while observing the inside of the building.
"Good morning sir,how may I help you?"Said a lime green mare with a pink mane that was tied back in a bun.
Shadow thought she looked cute, but not much more than that.
"Ah yes,I'm looking to buy a home"
"Certainly, heres a brochure of houses available, feel free to ask any questions."
She then handed Shadow a pamphlet filled with photos of available homes and details of them.
Shadow set his sights on a house with four rooms. What he'd do with the other three rooms would come to him later.
"Right here, this one, thats the one for me."
She looked over it on the brochure.
"Very well and how will you be purchasing it?"
Shadow's look of hopefulness then washed away into disappointment.
"I don't know..."
Shadow will deal with it another time.
Now was the matter of a job.
Shadow arrived at one of the offices in Equestria for the newspaper "The Equestria Daily",
Shadow was put into an interview for the job of a freelance journalist.
The one interviewing him was a light brown colored stallion with white bowler hat.
His name was too boring of a name to remember for Shadow.
"Now,why do you think you should get this career?"He began
"Well, the life of a freelance journalist is an adventurous one and thats just the life for me."Shadow replied.
The interviewer just raised one eyebrow.
"Okay then,do you have any past experience?"
"No,but i traveled a lot."
After several more questions, the interviewer then said "Sir,almost none of these show any reason we should
Put you up as a freelance journalist."
"Please!"Shadow begged.
"I'll prove myself,give me a chance."
The interviewer paused for a moment before speaking.
"Fine, you bring us a good story for the next issue, then the job is yours."
Shadow rushed to him and vigorously shaking his hoof.
"Thank very much,I shall not disappoint."
Like that,he then rushed out the door regaining his hope.
At last, things shall go in Shadow's favor...or at least he hopes.
At a nearby hotel on the south east side of the building.
Shadow peaked through an open window, seeing that there was no one around,he climbed into the room.
Shadow didn't have any bits to buy a room, let alone a house.
Shadow then flopped on a king sized bed and began thinking of what he'd do for his first story, but mostly how
he'll be entertained throughout town.
This wasn't for long until he heard something fall in the bathroom.
Shadow then carefully made his way toward the open bathroom door.
Suddenly, something pounced on him and he was pinned on the floor.
He was a stallion earth pony with a bright red coloring with a dark brown scraggly short mane.
His cutie mark was three blazing fires.
"Gotcha' ya dumbnut!"Yelled the stallion.
"Look,let me explain,please."Pleaded Shadow.
"Ha,this'll be good, well go on dumbnut."
Shadow collected himself as much as he can with a stallion looming over him.
"I apologize for busting in her,but i don'y have any money to buy my own room.
I just came in here to spend one night,I thought this room was unoccupied.
But I understand,i'll take my leave."
The red stallion the picks him up and squeezes him.
"Aww,come here man,I'm sorry I called ya a dumbnut.
You can stay as long as you like brother."
Shadow then collected himself once again after he let go.
"Brother?"
"Yeah,I'm on the road a lot looking for little jobs here and there.
So we're kinda the same."
Shadow then took a second to think.
"Maybe your right, how about you come with me on my road to stardom."
The red stallion leaped at the idea.
"Really, its my dream to be rich and famous!
Eating elegant foods, swimming in the hugest of pools!"
"So are ya in?"Asked Shadow.
The red stallion automatically squeezes Shadow again.
"You bet brother!
Your the best pony iv'e ever met!"
All Shadow could do was smile and laugh.
Tomarrow, they shall seek out for their first adventure.
