Silver Jackal was a... strange pony. Much like most ponies, he was very charismatic and enthusiastic in front of everyone. He had a hard time keeping it up, who wouldn't? He was well known among the community as a successful scientist and governor. When he withdrew, no one knew him. He'd sit in his room thinking, just strange thoughts, bad thoughts. He knew he shouldn't be thinking of the violence he could use against the one man who had disagreed on his budgeting plan for his business, the violence that should ensue if he visited any of his colleagues whom he disliked but never let on. Silver Jackal walked outside in the night. His silver coat hiding his silver bit of a cutie mark. He had a dirty blonde mane with brown stripes and sparkling cyan eyes which glowed in the night. Usually he hid his silver coat with a black wool coat, but tonight it was rather warm. The unicorn looked up at the sky sadly. Why couldn't he be happy? Why couldn't he- was that a lemon? The pony looked up and got a spray of lemon juice in his eye.
"Aghhh!!!! Dammit." Jackal cursed in agony. What was that? he thought looking around with his blurry vision.
"Sir? Are you alright?" A light blue earth pony passerby looked at him worriedly.
"I'm fine." He growled, looking away. What kind of idiot goes around squeezing lemons in pony's faces anyway? All of a sudden Jackal turned and heard another screech, however, it sounded more like fear. He ran over where he found a unicorn huddled in the corner, muttering something about how lemons were evil. Silver Jackal looked around and just kept walking awkwardly away from the unicorn. Jackal has been feeling strange recently. Usually he could cover his urges but tonight, he wasn't doing so well. Earlier he had almost hit that poor light blue mare that has asked him if he was alright. He should know better than to just walk around at night. That's when the urges got too strong. He turned and scurried back along the path he had traveled. He decided, tomorrow he would look for somewhere to hide. To be left alone and to try to maybe find a way of getting rid of these shameful addictions. Before he went he looked at the eerie swamp border nearest to his house. He would look there, no one was brave enough to look for him there. He turned and rushed into his house, jotting down his ideas for tomorrow. He just hoped it worked out like most things did for him.
Discord sat still by the pond. It was dark and he was alone. He hated his new powers. All his powers did was drive ponies away, his own friends, Celestia and Luna, had chased him over hills, across deserts, and through caves. They wanted to hurt him because he couldn't control himself, but what choice did he have? The chase had led him to find a small swamp by a wealthy town, full of unicorns and earth ponies. He had nothing to do with his powers, nothing at all, nothing good anyway. So Discord decided to have some fun, he'd mess with the ponies of the neighboring town. So off he went out of his little cave and flew to the nearby village ready to wreak havoc among the unexpecting citizens.
Discord smiled his crooked, snaggletoothed smile. He rather enjoyed this. He had turned a pony's chicken coop upside down, letting all of it's contents spill out across the dirt floor. He had terrorized a pony who was walking outside at night with a lemon (Discord was lucky enough to find someone with acerbophobia.) Discord particularly enjoyed when he has switched the mane styles of a husband and wife, he could have watched that horrified expression over and over, and still he would have laughed. Ponies see nothing but a monster eh? Well, fine. I'll cause them pain and misery, and no one would be the wiser in this little town.
