The War in Another Dimension

"We need to fight them off until they come!" yelled Twilight to Applejack.
"Ah' can't! They're too strong!" yelled Applejack. She then finished defeating one, making him fall on the group and land head-first, knocking him out instantly. But there were still 3 others around.
Twilight heard something strange behind her. She turned around and saw a portal; 6 ponies then jumped out. "You shall be defeated today!" the leader yelled. She then began charging at Ares, with the rest of the group behind her.
Twilight smiled. "They're here."
It was a slow day in Canterlot; there were no problems going on, and Twilight had already sent her letter earlier that week. Princess Celestia was just sitting, waiting for something to happen; well, something did. "Your majesty!" yelled a guard, who ran up to her. "We're under attack, just outside!"
Princess Celestia raised an eyebrow. "By whom?"
Guard was apparently out of breath. "Something we've never seen before! It looks absolutely nothing like a pony. It makes portals that suck ponies into another dimension or something! It's huge! It's-"
Princess Celestia hushed the guard. "I'll take care of it. Have my sister meet me at the entrance soon."
The guard nodded and galloped towards Luna's room. When he woke her up, and she went to the entrance. "I'm here, sister."
They went outside towards the gardens to find this... thing. They searched around and stumbled upon it. The thing smiled. It said, "Why, hello there. Are you here to join them?"
Princess Luna said, "No. Thou art here to defeat you!"
He smiled again. "I don't think so." He then created a portal right under the feet of Luna, sucking her in.
Princess Celestia said, "Sister!" She looked at him. "I will defeat you! You have taken my sister! You killed her!"
He said, "Now, now. She's not dead. She's just in the dimension I want her to be in. Now, if you'll just join her..."
"Who are you?!"
He smiled yet again. "I am Ares, the long-forgotten god of war! You mortals are dumb and don't know about true war! I am here to teach it to you! Permanently! You shall join them!"
Princess Celestia knew she was going to be next, so she quickly teleported herself out to her palace. "This is bad... I can't warn everypony, because I would have to leave, and I'll be suck in. But then everypony will not know about this threat!"
She grabbed her telescope and looked down to Ponyville. She could see those... things, and they were already in Ponyville.
"They already know."
Ponyville was getting terrorized. Most knew about it. The only ones who didn't know about them were 7 ponies and a baby dragon. In fact, they won't even know about it until they're the last ones left. But, Princess Celestia had to warn them. But, they would easily give up if they know their true foe. She had to teach them about something to fight against. Something that was hard to defeat, also, but not impossible. An idea came to mind: Chrysalis and the changelings. Perfect. But then, another idea came to mind: What if the Elements of Harmony can't defeat him? She thought about this. Then she remembered an old legend: The Elements of Awesomeness. She wasn't sure of their existence, but it was worth a shot. This legend dates back to the early civilizations, when not even ponies were the dominate creatures on the planet. Maybe these legends weren't true; maybe they used to exist, but no longer do because of the time passed? She knew that these ideas were very likely, but she knew it was her only hope. So, here's the plan: Chrysalis and Elements of Awesomeness. Got it. She sent a letter to Twilight, hoping she will be one of the ones who are still in this dimension. When the letter was sent, she calmed and waited for a reply. This had to be really convincing, so she had to show little fear when talking to Twilight. But really, she had a lot of it.
Twilight and Spike teleported in later.
“Why do you NEVER use that?”
Twilight was stumped. “I really don’t know.”
Spike sighed. “I thought not.”
Twilight realized they were right in front of Princess Celestia herself. “Oops! Um...”
Celestia giggled. “Not the best day to wake up late, is it?”
Twilight frowned. “No, today is probably the worst day.”
Celestia got a straight face. “Okay, today we learned that there has been a Changeling attack. This is serious business. In fact, the Elements of Harmony won’t be able to stop them. Queen Crysalis has grown ever too powerful.”
Twilight felt like her stomach had dropped to the ground. Is there going to be a way that they could defeat the Changelings? “So… how are we going to defeat them?”
Celestia put on a proud face. “There is only one way to defeat these accursed Changelings- we must bring in the other elements.”
Twilight had never heard of these “other elements” before. “What are these elements you’re talking about?”
Celestia now had on a sinister smile. Does she have a face for every emotion? “We need heroes who have no bound. We need heroes that are nearby. We need… the Elements of Awesomeness.”
Twilight face-hoofed herself. “Are you serious?!” Twilight exclaimed.
“Yes, I am serious.” replied Princess Celestia. “In fact, they are all right in Ponyville. But remember: They are the last ponies you would expect to save the world. Also, so I don’t have to tell you later, you must go to a place outside of Equestria. Don’t ask me where to go; I don’t even know where it is. Just let fate and destiny meet. And to find your ponies, do a simple walk through Ponyville. You will find your ponies then. They are not Changelings.”
Twilight understood all of this, and accepted it for some reason, but decided to push it to her limits: “And what if I don’t accept?”
Celestia smiled sinisterly again. “Then I have a question for you: Do you like bananas?”
Spike spoke up for the first time in a while. “Ooh! I love bananas!”
Twilight then teleported back out. Celestia sure loves that joke. Alright. The most important part of the warning is done. She can now be taken without regrets. She then teleported to the chapel where the Elements of Harmony were hidden. She picked them up. Then she her a loud bang, the door to the room slammed open. In came many of them, and Ares in the front. They circled around her, then walked up Ares. "You have no chance of escaping now."
Celestia smiled. "Okay."
Ares was confused. "Really? You're not going to fight back, not going to try to escape?"
Celestia was still smiling. "Nope. Go ahead."
Ares shrugged and said, "Alright. You're the one who's not going to have any fun." He then opened up a portal under where she was sitting, and she fell in.
Celestia woke up to find a bunch of familiar faces huddled around her. "Who's party is it?" she said as she got up, rubbing her head.
"It's not a party for anyone. Unless those humans win, then it's Ares' party," said a familiar voice. Celestia looked around to see it was Discord.
"Discord... how did you get out?" she asked.
"They purposely got me out, then sucked me into a portal. Now I'm here."
"And don't think we're here to fight you. We have a common enemy we must work together to defeat." said a different, even more familiar voice. Celestia looked around and found Queen Chrysalis, who was standing next to a group of changelings. Chrysalis saw the anger in Celestia's eyes, so she said, "And I and my people are no different."
Luna walked up to Celestia. She was standing behind some random pony that Celestia didn't recognize. "They are not lying," Luna said. "If they were, this group would cut in a least half in size, and between me, Discord, and Chrysalis, at least one of us would be dead right now."
Celestia did take this into consideration. She did trust her sister, and those were reasonable reasons.
"Alright," said Celestia. "I'll trust you all... for now. But if any of you try to pull some funny business, you'll be defeated easily."
There was a pause for a few seconds. Discord spoke up, "We have a tent set up in that direction." He pointed at a tent off in the distance. "In there, we have supplies and a map of this giant rock we're on. We need a plan. He's immortal, but his army isn't. We just need to be defensive until we have some way to defeat that giant lump of a so-called god."
Meanwhile, the Mane 6, excluding Twilight considering she was still in the regular realm, were talking. "So, that's where Twi went," said Applejack. "At least she didn't fall off a cliff or somethin'."
Fluttershy said, "I hope she's alright. Something bad may have-" She was interrupted when a baby dragon fell out of a portal right next to them. "Oh, Spike. Is Twilight okay?"
Spike wiped the dust off of his legs. "She's alright- I think. She's with the new elements to save Equestria." He looked around and saw ponies and animals everywhere. "That's where they all went," he mumbled.
"And who are these 'new elements'?" asked Rainbow Dash.
Spike replied, "They're random background ponies who apparently have to save us. I don't understand how their powers are better than yours, but apparently they somehow can." Spike looked around for the first time and saw Changelings. "Ah! Changelings! Wait... why is Princess Celestia standing right next to them? Shouldn't they be attacking? Aren't they the bad guys here? Or was Princess Celestia lying?"
Applejack said, "Well, I guess she was lyin' then. Those Changelings are our allies. Those weird- what were they called?- humans or whatever are the bad guys."
Spike said, "Aren't humans those things that Lyra always talks about?"
Rainbow Dash said, "I think so. Who would have known she was right about them..."
Rainbow Dash asked, "Who specifically are these 'new elements'?"
Spike said, "The 'Elements of Awesomeness'. Princess Celestia said they're more powerful than the elements of harmony. It's Lyra, Bon-bon, Vinyl Scratch, Octavia, Dr. Whooves, and Derpy, I hope. Twilight's with them to assist them when getting their elements."
Rarity said, "Oh, dear. I hope they're being nice and respectful to Twilight. She was already stressed, and this is just going to make it worse. I hope she doesn't do anything bad out of frustration."
Spike mumbled, "She will." Applejack apparently heard this, so she slapped him on the back of the head.
There was a moment of pause. "So... what exactly are we doing?" asked Spike.
"I dunno," said Rainbow Dash. "All that we're hearing is that we're going to play defensive against those humans."
"So, um..." said Spike. "What are doing now?" He looked over to where the Princesses were. "Um... isn't that Discord right there? Isn't he, like, evil or something?"
Applejack said, "They're all workin' together, or somethin'. Ah guess that since those whatumacallits are so tough, everythin's workin' together. It's sweet, ain't it?"
No. It is not sweet, thought Spike.
There was a loud horn by where the princesses were. This made everypony go quiet to listen. "Listen!" yelled a pony with a giant trumpet or something, which was assumed to be the loud noise from seconds ago. "We want all ponies, including earth ponies, pegasi, unicorns, and alicorns over here," He motioned to an open area. "All Changelings over here," he motioned to a different open spot. "And all else over here." He pointed to a third spot.
Spike whispered, "Wait, doesn't that mean I have to go to 'others' instead of with you guys?"
Rainbow Dash whispered back, "Yeah, what the hay? That isn't fair, you're more pony than anything else."
"HOWEVER," yelled the speaker because some had began to start talking again. "The following are to be put into a different group:" He began listing many different names, what they are, and what group they were changing to. "...Spike the Dragon, to 'pony' group,..."
Spike was relieved. He didn't know much about any animals, even including dragons. He was happy he was going to be with his friends instead of a bunch of wild creatures.
"Please proceed to your groups now."
They all scrambled around until everything was in their correct spots. The 6 of them stuck together, since they were all heading to the same place. When they got to their destination, they were split into different age groups. Thankfully, they all still stuck together. They noticed that there were definitely less than 5,000 ponies there. "Why are there so few ponies here? I thought this was supposed to be entire Equestria here," asked Spike.
Before anypony could answer, a large voice was getting the attention of every pony in front of the group. It was Princess Celestia, along with her sister. "Alright, everypony," said Princess Celestia. "We have been attacked, as you can obviously tell. These are humans, and they really aren't normally tough. However, they have a god as their leader. You may all consider me a god, but I'm not immortal like he is. Yes, he's immortal. He lives forever. He can't die. If he wanted to, he can just march over here and crush us like little bugs if he wanted to. But, he won't; he likes to see us struggle. But, if we do too good, he'll probably come and destroy us." By this point, pretty much every pony was screaming in fear. "I would say you have nothing to fear... but I can't say that without lying."
Her sister walked over, punched her in the chest, push Celestia over, and announced, "What my sister means to say is that we're in a war, and we're going to fight back. Just expect the battle to get tougher as we go on." This barely helped, considering most of the ponies there were screaming for their lives.
"Uh," Rainbow Dash moaned, barely audible over all of the screaming ponies scrambling around. "Why are all of us afraid? Nothing bad's going to happen."
Applejack replied, "Nothin' bad? NOTHIN' BAD?! Rainbow, we're goin' into a war with these... things that we've never seen before. Most of us are goin' to DIE, n' most others are goin' to get hurt badly. N' y'all just stand here, sayin' that nothin' bad's goin' to happen"
Rainbow Dash backed away a bit. "Uh... sorry..." She whimpered.
Applejack sighed and put a hoof on Rainbow Dash's shoulder. "Sorreh gettin' up on y'all like that. We're all just really stressed."
Rainbow Dash looked down and said, "Yeah... I'm sorry, too. I should have understood this."
"Aw!" Pinkie Pie said after expectedly appearing out nowhere unexpectedly. "Group hug!" She then extended her arms out and pulled every pony in the group into a small circle.
Applejack said, "Um... Pinkie? Now's not the time."
Pinkie Pie let go and groaned. "Fine, have it your way."
Princess Celestia shoved over her sister and said over the still flailing voices of the crowd, "Alright, we appear to be good over here. I'm going to talk to them." She appeared to be talking to her sister, though it was loud enough for the audience to hear. Then, Celestia walked over to where Chrysalis and Discord were standing. Luna apparently wasn't invited, so she sneaked over there to listen. They were talking for a while, but anything but audible due to the lack of silence of the screams.
After about 10 minutes of talking, they walked back to their individual groups. Celestia yelled, "If you please silence now..." It had little to no effect. "Ahem... If you would please be quiet now," she said in a slightly louder voice. Same thing happened. She said, barely audible, "Sister, if you would please..."
Luna walked up, cleared her throat, and yelled in her Royal Canterlot Voice, "SILENCE!!" Everypony shut their mouths as the voice echoed off into the distance. "Okay, there you go," she said to Celestia.
"Alright," said Celestia as she walked. "We are going to split you all up into groups again. We want earth ponies over there, unicorns over here, pegasi over there, and the few alicorns over there. However," she said over the already rustling crowd, "We want all fillies and colts over there... Alright, now please, everypony get into your groups now... except for one new exception: All of the Elements of Harmony, please report to us, the leaders."
The groups were put together in only a few minutes. There, they were assigned their parts in the battle. Pegasi were to do air support and bombardment. (They bombard with the only thing they could: Rocks.) Unicorns were to use magic of all kinds, obviously. Earth ponies did a variety of things; most of them were just soldiers. The few alicorns were all of the above, but they were to only come out if they were in severe trouble. Changelings were somehow supposed to turn into a human, even though it would be much trickier since they were normally shaped like a pony. And most animals were just going to help in the back with as medics and such, but some animals were helping in the front, like Dragons. However, all of the young of all species were doing miscellaneous tasks; there are too many to list. I would have put in all of the quotes, but that would take too long.
All of the leaders were war planners. They came up with strategies such. However, in the end, they argued too much to actually come up with a plan that aligned, so they came up with individual plans. I know I'm rushing this, but I'm trying to get this boring stuff out of the way. Anyway, after a while of the useless arguing, they got an announcement. From Ares. Of buck, I never described a map of the area they're at. It was pretty much a deep crater on a big rock. It was deep, so from the inside of the crater, it looked like you were surrounded by steep mountains. However, the Others (That's what we're calling the ponies, Changelings, and animals.) were on the outside of the crater, and the humans were on the parallel side. Anyway, Ares said in his message, "We shall begin the war soon. Send a messenger, and we will send one ourselves. You and us shall NOT, I repeat, NOT threaten the messenger or hurt them. Got it? Fine, now send someone."
The leaders shrugged and sent Luna over. "What?!" Luna replied to this. "Why me?!"
Celestia replied, "Well first, they're probably sending their second-in-command, so we show do it also. And second, I like the idea. Maybe you should be a test dummy." Celestia smirked. "And finally, leave." She pointed in the direction that the humans were.
Luna frowned and said, "Okay," and started flying in the direction pointed out.
This took a while. First, Luna had to fly over the crater, which took a while. Second, the humans' messenger had to walk around the giant crater since he no wings, which took a while. And finally, when each of the got there, they had to talk to the leaders, which took a while. But, something important to this story did happen in the meantime.
"Sorry for the delay," Princess Celestia said to the group of ponies after the human commander had left. "Here are most of your elements." She passed out each of the necklaces. She had no Twilight to give here weird crown-thingy to. "Even though this is useless without Twilight here, hopefully I can give it to her so-" She was interrupted by a purple unicorn falling out of a portal in front of her. Celestia giggled and put the crown thing of the unicorn's head. "Never mind."
Twilight shook her head and said with a tone so strange it sound like she said it unconsciously, "Uh, I do an epic ending to a chapter, and all I do is get sucked into a portal? Not very cool."
Pinkie Pie slapped her on her cheek. "Snap out of it! Only I'm allowed to break the fourth wall!"
Twilight shook her head again. "Where am I?"
Chrysalis walked up to her and said, "On a giant rock in the middle of another dimension-"
Discord cut her off. "-about to fight some dumb creature who called war on us for no reason at all, and we're probably all about to lose and die."
Twilight said, "That sure sounds pleasant. Maybe we'll just be let off easily. And by let off, I mean let off of a cliff."
Luna landed right by them, even though they had no idea that she was coming. "Alright, we have our preparations set. This dumb war will start in a few minutes. But Ares said had something to do in this time. I have no idea what he was talking about. But I believe he said it was happening in the crater. Oh yeah, he also said something about nothing being able to die, just being able to get hurt."
Celestia said, "Well, even though we should eavesdrop and see what's happening, I feel like it isn't right. It's great that the no-death thing is happening, or else there would be a lot of bodies. And, we're about to start, anyway. Oh, I remember now... you all might want to cover your ears." She cleared her throat. She then said at the loudest sound possible for any living being, "EVERYTHING SHALL LINE UP NOW!!"
Then, well, all of the Others lined up for their first attack. The leaders and the Elements were in the front. Then the soldiers, then the other stuff like the medics. I dunno, you figure it out.
"Alright," Luna said. "Beginning in 5... 4... 3... 2..." Then she paused. "Wait." She then heard a voice down from the crater; it was Ares'.
"I don't think so. I have an army of ready soldiers," he said.
Luna whispered, "Now."
Twilight yelled, "Well, we have a Pinkie Pie and a better army!"
The leaders then all yelled, "CHARGE!" Then, they all jumped off of the cliff. One by one, all jumping off, ready for battle. It was a sight that would be graceful if it wasn't for the war it was starting. Twilight looked down at Ares. She saw something else. It was a pony, with a grey coat and a blonde mane. And crossed eyes that weren't looking at her, but they were at the same time. They were, in fact, staring right back at her. No way... Twilight thought. It can't be... It is... Derpy? She felt her heart stop for a moment. Probably two. But then, Derpy started getting a little portal around her, and she was leaving the dimension. Twilight then shook it off and looked at Ares. He pointed his finger at the army and yelled, "Attack!" And an army of humans jumping over the parallel hill. Twilight quickly looked back to Derpy, but she was gone. Well, there goes that idea. I really hope she finds some way to get back.
She then landed and charged at the enemy army who was charging at her. She was alongside her friends, who were going to help her defeat these humans. They charged into each other, causing one group to go flying. Luckily, those were the humans that were sent flying. Then, the war was officially started. Humans' spears were flying everywhere, unicorns' magic was flying everywhere, rocks from the pegasi were falling from the sky. It was starting to get bloody, but there were no casualties. If they got hurt, they had to drag themselves to the back and have their medics help them. I don't know where the hay they got their medical supplies; don't ask me.
The mane 6 stayed together, unless they were forced apart. They barely got hurt... until they were forced apart. They got modded and couldn't find each other when they attacked. They had to fight for themselves, but it was harder than you would think. Attacking 3 enemies at the same time at different angles isn't fun or easy. But, they fought. They fought all of the humans, and when they got back together, all of them were hurt, from bruises to cuts, but nothing too bad. What's funny is that out of all of them, Fluttershy was the one least hurt. She didn't actually fly into the air; she just destroyed the humans. She quite some inner rage. When they got back together again, all that happened was that they got mobbed again by and even bigger group. Twilight managed to shoot them  away with her magic, but she knew her friends were in trouble. She looked around and found Applejack, bucking away a group of humans.
Twilight looked around and saw a horrible sight. There were more humans than ponies around. That translates to humans winning. That's bad. Really bad. Just then, she got attacked again by more humans. As she was fighting them she yelled to Applejack:
"We need to fight them off until they come!" yelled Twilight.
