Chapters I can't believe it.
We technically broke up last week with the argument and all. I don't remember nor do i care what it was even about. I just can't believe it. Rarity is moving.
We've just been through so much together since 6th grade and here we are at her house having ths conversation. She asked me to come over to her place after school so I thought it was going to be a good thing. Boy was I wrong.
"It's just so sudden," I said.
"Yeah I know, darling." Wow I didn't think she would still call me that.
"Are you sure you gotta go?" I asked.
"Yes. My dad's new job is in the city."
"Well I'm gonna miss you. A lot."
"Same here."
"COME ON RARITY WE GOTTA GO!" Wow I'm surprised China didn't hear Sweetie Belle, Rarity's little sister.
"Well, see ya... I guess." Then she leaned over and kissed me. That was pretty stange because we said we wouldn't get back together. Anyway she got in her car and waved goodbye and of course I waved back. Well that's that I guess. I pull out my phone and go through my contacts. Where is his name it should be here somewhere... ah there it is. Good ol' Cobalt. He's been my best friend since kindergarten. At leaet he'll always be there for me. I call him and hope I don't end up leaving a message. I never know what to say for those things.
"Hello?"
"Hey man."
"Oh hey, Lightning. ¿Què Pasa?"
"Meet me at the park around 4."
"Uh, alright. See you then."
"Yeah, see you then."
I hang up and head home. It's not that far of a walk. "Hey mom!" I yell once I get through the door."Hey, son. Got any homework?"
"Nope. It's Friday, remember?" We both know that my teachers aren't homework heavy on a Friday. And any homework I do get is finished in study hall."Oh yeah, I forgot."
"I'm going over to the park later," I say while looking through the freezer for a snack. "Meeting Cobalt again?"
"Yup," Hey when did we get these ice cream sandwiches? Oh well I found my snack. "Well don't be too long. You know your brother's going to want help with his homework."
"What homework?" I asked while grabbing my second sandwich. "He's only in 5th grade!"
"Well you know his teachers are pretty unpredictable."
"True. Speaking of brothers, where's Swift?"
"Where do you think?" Yeah she's right. He's probably at Amber's. "Well I better go feed Titan." Titan's 100% MY dog and my dog only. I paid every cent for him and I'm the one who feeds him and takes care of him. He's a German Shepard puppy.
After feeding Titan I go grab my basketball and head off. Cobalt's probably gonna want to play before or after we talk. Most likely before.
At the park I just practice shooting some 3's until I can see his afro bobbing in the distance. "Hey man!" I call out.
"Hey." He replies. "Watcha doin shooting 3's? You play center amigo!" Cobalt, always such a jokester. "So you called me down here so you could lose at one-on-one again?"
"That was ONE TIME! Also I wanted to talk. But we can play first if you want to."
"Alright. We doin our usual?"
"You know it." Our usual is that we play first to ten going by 1's and play make-it-take-it. "We'll flip to see who gets first ball."
"Ok."
"You call it."
"Uh, heads!" He always goes for heads. I flip the coin and it lands on, you guessed it, heads. I check him the ball. "Ready to lose?"
"No, I'm ready to WIN!" My defense was getting pretty good. Of course he comments on it. "Wow your D is gettin' pretty good."
"You're right 'bout that." He shoots but it bounces off the rim. "Dammit"
"Don't get to worked up. That shot's pretty hard." I grab and clear the ball. "No, you need to clear it in front of the foul line!"
"What're you talkin' about? It's the three point line. But fine I'll do it your way." I go to the top of the key and shoot. swish! The game goes on a little more. I ended up winning 10-9. "Told you so."
"Shut up. You know football is my game. So what did you want to talk about?" Well, here we go... "Rarity moved away."
"So? Didn't you two break up after that argument last week about... uh what was it again?"
"Hell if I know! Anyway, yeah we did break up. But she was still my friend."
"Yeah she was pretty cool. So I guess you're gonna be all depressed, huh?"
"Naw, just sad for a little bit."
"Well is that all? I gotta go eat dinner." Yeah, I guess it is. "Yeah. I gotta go eat dinner too."
"Well adios amigo."
When I got home I immediately wanted to eat. But being sweaty and all, Mom mad me go take a shower first. That night I thought how lucky I was to have a friend like Cobalt.
About One Month Later...
"Wait WHAT!?" I can't believe I'm going through this again. "Yeah I'm moving" Cobalt's voiced seemed a tad bit sad on the phone. First Rarity and now Cobalt. This is crazy. What next? Me!? "But... I... Well we can keep in touch i guess..." I just realized I never got Rarity's number. How crazy is that? "Yeah I guess so. I gotta go now though. I'll call you when I get there."
"Alright. Bye."
"Bye..." Well, I'm not sure what to do now. I guess I could hang out with Solar...
Well here I am getting into the car, about to move to a new city. All because I got in a fight. And it wasn't even my fault! Anyway, the point is I'm moving to some city named Canterlot. I say goodbye to what little friends I have left. "Don't be sad, " Solar Comet tries to comfort me. "I'm sure you'll make some new friends."
"Whatever you say buddy."
And just like that, we're off. Already Bouncer is being a pain. "This is all your fault."
"What're you talking about?"
"If you didn't get in to that stupid fight with those stupid kids, we wouldn't be leaving and I wouldn't be leaving my friends behind."
"Always gotta make things about you, huh? And you know that's not the reason we're leaving."
"It kinda is."
"Shut up ,Swift. Stay outta this."
"Whatever." And then he does his usual, putting in his earbuds pretending nothing just happened. I think I should get something to do before things get outta hand. "Hey Mom! Where's my labtop?"
"It's in the trunk sweetie."
"Oh." Well there goes that idea. There's just one more thing I need to know... "Mom where's Titan?"
"What do you mean? He's going with your uncle."
"Oh yeah that's right." I mutter, barely audible. Well since I've got no other choice I'm just gonna take a nap...
I walk out of East High texting Solar, making some plans for a future cubing competition. Then out of nowhere, I bump into a car. I notice that there's a scratch on it. I start freaking out but then I recognize that car. That scratch was already there. But I know whose car that is its-
"HEY!" Uh oh. It's Hoops. His shout makes me jump a bit and I elbow the window. THAT crack wasn't there before.
"What the hell do you think your doing?" Oh God he's talking to me!
"I said, what are you doing!?"
"Uh, just enjoying the majestic views, man!"
"What are you talking about?" He pushes me aside and...
"WHAT THE HELL MAN!?"
"Uh, you yelled and I MIGHT have bumped the window...?"
"I'M GONNA KILL YOU!!!"
"Uh Lightning is not here right now please leave a message after the beep... Beeeeeeep." And just like that I take off running. You might call me a coward but Hoops is a pretty tough guy. And when he says "I'm gonna kill you" like that, he means business. Anyways he starts chasing me but I'm too fast. Hey ,they don't call me "Lightning" for nothing. I think about parkouring my way out of this like a boss but Hoops doesn't give up easily. The guy would chase you to your house and wait for you to come out. A quick look back tells me that his two buddies joined in too. Damn it. I'm not getting out if this one easily. Nobody knows the city like me but even I end up in a alley. Of course it's an alley. I mean, seriously, when do chases ever end up somewhere near the police station? Well it's not like I don't know how to fight, it's more like Hoops is an unpredictable kind of guy.
"Looks like we got you right where we want you, bitch." That face is definitely NOT soothing.
"How dare you refer to me as a female dog?" Might as well make my final moments the best they can be.
"What's the difference?" He got me there. With nothing else to say, I put my hands up. They start circling me. Then I realize something.
"Help! House on fire!" Hopefully someone heard that.
"That doesn't work anymore, dumbass." Actually he's wrong. Everyone knows that if you shout "house on fire" people are more likely to come and help than if you shout "help I'm being jumped" or whatever. Anyway they're circling and closing in on me so I give Score, the guy to my right, a right hook and he actually falls down. Then Dumb-Bell charges in. Bad idea. I give a left uppercut and the fool bites his tongue. Hoops is too fast though. He dodges my attacks and goes for the "low blow kick." Next thing I know Score and Dumb-Bell are coming at me seemingly out of nowhere. They are all at me now. I end up on the ground. That's not good. Now they're kicking me while I'm down. I try to fight back but it's no use. If help is on the way it better come quick. These guys can kick pretty hard and are stomping on my face like crazy. It doesn't look like I'll be able to get up.
"Don't you ever touch my car again!" I realized that this is kinda brutal over a car. I could have easily paid for it.
"Oh you'll pay for it alright." WAIT DID HE JUST READ MY MIND!? Then the kicking stops. I try t get up and look around but see nothing. I'm almost to my feet when Hoops comes back with a bat. Wait where did he even get that from?! Then all he does is laugh... in a creepy way.
"Here's a lesson you won't soon forget." I dodge the first swing surprisingly but wasn't so lucky the second time... He's laughing as I hit the ground. The last thing I hear is a siren blaring as I black out.
I wake upas the car goes over a speed bump. It was just a dream. Thank God. Mom's driving now and Dad's out cold. Actually, everyone's asleep except Mom and me.
"Hey Mom! We in Canterlot yet?"
"Yes we are."
"OK." I look out the window. Huh we're driving past a stadium. Or a stage. Where ever they play concerts at. I can't even think straight because of that dream. Wait what's going on in there? It looks like they have these projections of... seahorses? Then it gets weirder. They're is this plasma ball thing and it turns into a winged unicorn thing. And now it's shooting a rainbow at the seahorses. This is so weird. How does Mom NOT see it? Maybe I'm still dreaming? But it feels so real. Maybe I that bat messed up my head and I've gone nuts. I don't know anymore. I think I'm actually looking forward to going to school on Monday. Maybe I can escape the weirdness...
Moday. Always such a slow day. What makes it that way? School.
But today I go to a new school. Some school called Canterlot High. I already have my schedule but I haven't looked at it yet. Guess I'll do that on the bus. Anyway I take my morning shower and dress and all that good stuff. When I go downstairs to eat breakfast my two, bros are already there. "Good morning Bobby Jo Parker." That nickname always got on Bouncer's nerves. "Stop calling me that!" He whines. "It doesn't even make sense!"
"What's the point of making sense when it annoys you so much?"
"Shut up."
"Oh, we got the world's best comebacker right here." My older brother, Swift Bolt, starts cracking up. "So, gou ready to go to work?" I ask while grabbing the milk. "Sure am. You know I'm about to get that raise!"
"Oh, well I don't know about that."
"Doubter."
"Whatever." Alright time to actually eat. Let's see I've got about half an hour until I go to my stop...
After I chow down my Lucky Charms, I go grab the stuff for school. Scool supplies and second bag for my Rubik's Cubes. I throw on my favorite purple jacket and head out the door. "HEY WAIT FOR ME!!!" Right. I forgot that HE goes to the same school as me now. So WE head out the door, after saying bye to Mom, Dad, and Swift of course, and walk to the bus stop. While waiting I take oug my favorite cube from my pocket and start solving it. Of course everyone around is impressed and stuff. When the bus comes I find the only open seat. Then Bouncer sits next to me. It's gonna be a somewhat long ride.
Technically I didn't have to listen to his mouth because one, he wasn't talking in the first place and two, I had my headphones on anyways. When we get off the bus, I walk away from my brother and head towards a pretty cool looking statue. I wasn't paying enough attention and ran into someone. I felt kinda bad when I saw it was a girl. A kinda cute girl I should add. "Sorry 'bout that." I say kinda sheepishly.
"It's okay. I was just... Hey are you new? I don't think I've seen you around before."
"Yeah. Today's my first day." Well no duh genius! You're new remember?
"I was looking for, actually."
"Really? How come?"
"Because I'll be giving you a tour."
"Oh. Cool." So basically some random cute girl I've never met before wants to give me a tour. Why wasn't I told about this? But then again I probably forgot. Oh well.
She starts off at the lobby and shows just about everything from the classrooms to the library and cafe.
"So, uh yeah that's pretty much it." We stop somewhat close to my locker.
"I guess I'll see you around then."
"Yeah I guess so." Then she turns and leaves. I just realized I never got her name. I guess I'll have to find out later because right now I need to head to my locker and grab my stuff for honors chemistry. Yeah I'm in all of the honors classes. No need to be jealous. When I grab my stuff I bump into yet another person. This time he's a bit more familiar.
"Wait, Cobalt?"
"Lightning?" I don't believe it. My best friend moved HERE? That's great!
"So uh, where you headed amigo?"
"You know I'm in those honors classes. First is chemistry."
"NO WAY! ME TOO!"
"Awesome! Didn't know you were that smart."
"Yup. I'll show you the way." So I follow him to class. The teacher told me to just choose any old seat. Luckily, there's an open one right next to Cobalt. Then, guess who walks in? Tour guide girl. "Hey Cobalt, who's that girl over there?"
"Oh that's Sunset Shimmer. Why? You know her?"
"Well she gave me a tour earlier..." Sunset Shimmer... That name is just perfect for her. The way her eyes shimmer, how her hair matches the colors of a beautiful sunset...
"I see you staring."
"Huh? wha-?" I didn't even realize I was staring. How rude of me... she walks back to our area. Wait...
"Oh hey! It's you!" She says taking the seat to my right. So I got Cobalt on my left and Sunset on my right. How cool is that?
"I didn't tell you earlier, but my name's Sunset Shimmer." She extends out her hand. Obviously she wants to shake. "Lightning Blitz." I tell her shaking her hand.
"That's a nice name."
"Uh thanks! Yours to." She looks towards the fornt and I look over to Cobalt who's smiling at me. I giv him a look before looking at the fornt to leatn about the "amazing world of chemistry." Apparently today we're doing a partner lab using microscopes. The second I heard the word partner, I turned and looked at Sunset who looked right back at me. It was pretty obvious that we were thinking the same thing. I then realized Cobalt was there and saw he was already talking to someone else. He's cool like that. Already knew what I was thinking before I even thought it.
So first we had to write down some basic microscope stuff. Stuff like how to carry and use it and also the different parts and what they did. Like I said, basic stuff. After that, we used some prepared slides and looked at them through the microscope. It was actually pretty cool. I mean we weren't looking at viruses and stuff but hey, a few blood cells are pretty cool to.
In fact it was so mufh fun, I lost track of time and the bell was already ringing. It's time for my next class, Honors Pre calc.
