Whatever happened to the happy, constantly cheery, and overall amazing society that Equestrians built over thousands of years?

A virus, possibly? Magic shenanigans? Or maybe, somepony woke up on day, and decided to curse the world?

Nopony knows. All they do know, is that the world wasn't the same. Ten years of infection and pointless fighting finally managed to claw the Equestrian world into something, something dark, and ultimately pointless. Our story begins with our main lead, Velvet, waking in a world he swore he didn't fall asleep in. After a bit of exploring and figuring things out, He understood one thing quite well.

He was still unturned, unturned into something much worse, and dead.

Battling with himself, internally and externally, how long can he survive in this new, uncaring world? How long until it breaks him down, either into a bandit with a disregard for life, or, of course, into a shambling corpse of what he used to be?
