//-------------------------------------------------------// The Midnight Sky -by OwentheBrony- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// The Party //-------------------------------------------------------// The Party Pinkie Pie was starting to get worried. Only three guests weren't there yet, one of those ponies being Twilight Sparkle, who was always early to her parties. Then there was Fluttershy, who usual wasn't late either. Lastly, there was the pony this whole party was for, but Pinkie knew that she would come with Twilight. So,Pinkie watched the door while the other guests mingled. Then, the said door was knocked on, and Pinkie flew to open it. Pinkie then saw one of her best friends, and a pony she was about to be friends with. "Twilight! I'm so glad you finally made it!" "Sorry we're so late Pinkie, Midnight and I were catching up and we lost track of time." "No problem! Come in you guys!" Twilight and Midnight walked into Sugar Cube corner, smiling. Everybody looked toward the door as Midnight Solo entered, seeing as they had never met her before. So, Twilight started with, "Girls, this is my very good friend, Midnight Solo." Midnight waved, "What's up guys?" Everypony then introduced themselves. "Very nice to meet you, darling. My name's Rarity." "And ah'm Applejack," And while saying this, Applejack gave Midnight a large handshake. "And I'm Rainbow Dash, the one and only!" Everypony other than Rainbow Dash and Pinkie rolled their eyes at that. "Oh, oh and I'm Pinkie Pie!" Midnight smiled and walked over with Twilight to go talk some more. But after a few minuets, there was another knock at the door, and Pinkie rushed to open it. Midnight Solo looked at the door as well, and out of the door came a cream colored pegasus with a light pink mane. At the sight of this pony, Midnight's mouth dropped. She had never seen such a a beautiful creature before! (Oh, did I mention that Midnight Solo's lesbian? No? Well, she is.) Some of the girls giggled or laughed (Twilight) in the background. Luckily for Midnight, Fluttershy didn't notice, because she was talking to Pinkie. Midnight shook her head, then looked back at Twilight, with whom she had been having a conversation with, along with Pinkie, but as you know she went to the door. When Midnight did so, Twilight started to laugh even more than she had before. "What?" "Ha, you...ha!" "What?" "You were all checking her out, and ahaha!" Midnight frowned and blushed. "No, I was not 'checking her out,'" Midnight said while gesturing wither her hooves. "Yeah you were!" "No, I wasn't!" "You know, you should really just go talk to her, maybe ask her out." "Ask her out?!? I haven't even met her yet, much less know her name!" It's Fluttershy, and- Just as this argument was about to continue, a large boom was heard coming from Pinkie's direction, and a piece of confetti landed on Midnight's nose. "Party time, ponies!" Pinkie yelled. And as these words were spoken, music started playing. everypony sort of diverted, everypony going to the place of which their favorite activity was. Fluttershy went to gosit down with some punch, and when Midnight noticed this, she tried her best to be cool, and sit with Fluttershy 'by accident'. But Fluttershy didn't look at Midnight when she sat down, or at least she didn't notice Midnight, so Midnight decided to be straight forward. "Hi, my name's Midnight Solo." Fluttershy looked up at Midnight, and as soon as she saw Midnight's face something struck up inside of her. Other than her heart beating much faster, she felt as though she could talk to her easily, even though she usually couldn't talk very well with ponies very easily. "I'm Fluttershy," she said, clearer than she'd ever said her name before. This made Rarity, who had been talking to Twilight nearby spin around and look at her with a surprised expression, which Fluttershy luckily didn't notice. "Nice to meet you. So from what I've heard from Twilight, you like taking care of animals?" "Yes, I do, and that was actually the reason I was late, you see..." This conversation goes on of course, but it's contents aren't terribly important, so I will not describe them, but yet another conversation, between two other entirely different ponies. "Oh, do you really think so, darling?" Rarity asked Twilight, glancing over at where Midnight and Fluttershy were talking. Twilight giggled, and replied, "Yes, definitely. Didn't you see how Midnight was looking at Fluttershy when she walked in?" "Yes, I did, darling, but I didn't get a good look." "It was priceless!" "Priceless? Don't take this the wrong way, darling, but you're starting to sound a tad like Rainbow Dash." "I am? Well, I guess it's just Midnight rubbing off on me. We've always had the sort of relationship of the two friends who call each other names, but just to be funny." "Oh, so you two are that sort of best friend." "What does that mean?" "It's not an insult, darling, you two just share a different sort of friendship than we do." "Oh, yeah, definitely." Then, Pinkie called everypony for cake, and everypony enjoyed a piece. Not much else happened at this party, except more mingling. And as soon as the party was over, everypony went home. "So, Midnight, how'd it go with your crush- I mean Fluttershy." "It went fine, thank you. I really like her personality." "Oooooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhh!" "Shut up! I just...think she's nice, okay?" "Uh-huh." "C'mon, it's not like that!" "Suuuuuuuuuuuure." "Uuuuuuugh, fine. I sort of like her, but she's probably not even into mares anyway." "I don't know, but she might be! Look, I'm here to help if you need it." "Yeah, cause I'd want help from you, Ms. I've-never-dated-anypony-in-my-life." "Oh, yeah, well neither have you!" This argument continued, and both ponies kept walking toward their destination of Twilight's castle. //-------------------------------------------------------// Midnight's Mindset //-------------------------------------------------------// Midnight's Mindset Twilight waved her hoof in front of Midnight's face, while giggling a little. "Hello? Equestria to Midnight!" "Huh, what?" "We were talking about how I couldn't spend the day with you, and you just zoned out." "I... uh, sorry Twilight. I was just... thinking." Twilight laughed, "Yeah, 'thinking'." "Hey, Twilight, c'mon. This is serious!" "Yeah, serious just like how I liked that one colt in middle school." "Oh, yeah," Midnight sighed, "Look, Twilight, I'm sorry about that. I didn't mean to tell him but-" "Well, you did. Then, I cried for an hour." "At least I was there to comfort you." Twilight sighed, "Look, I'm sorry I got angry, it's just that... I guess I don't want to screw up like you did, because I don't want you to go through that pain." Midnight smiled, "You won't do anything like that, if I know you at all. Fluttershy was telling me a story about when she was a model and-" "Yeah, I'm sure you paid attention to the rest of her story after she said 'model'. " " I did, actually. And it was quite the interesting story." "Oh, yeah? Then what was the name of the pony who took all of the photos?" "uhh, Finished Photograph, was it?" "Close, but no." "Okay, then what was it?" "Not telling." "Aww, c'mon, Sparkle!" "Nope. You'll just have to find out for yourself. Sparkle, god I haven't heard that nickname in forever." "Ha, yeah. I remember calling you that a ton when I was in high school." "Yeah, I remember calling you 'doofus', not that it wasn't true." They both laughed at the memory of the days of their days together when they were fillies. "So, what did you say about you not being able to spend the day with me?" "Unfortunately, I cannot spend the day with you, because I have some duties to attend to." "You do? What kind of duties?" "I have to have a conference with the mayor. I tried to get it moved around, but I couldn't reason with the mayor. She said she had 'no other open times' for the conference. But, I should be done by about three o'clock today, so you should have to stimulate yourself, however hard that may be." "No, it should be easy, seeing as I've never really been to Ponyville before." "Yes, well, have fun. I'm off." "Alright, Sparkle. Enjoy your conference." Twilight then called out a goodbye to Spike, then left. After a few minuets of sipping her coffee, Midnight got up, called a goodbye to Spike as well, then set out into the town. Although she was a city pony, Midnight quite enjoyed some of the smaller, more country areas too. As she walked around, looking at shops, many ponies gave her a 'welcome', or a 'nice to have you', and occasionally the ask for an autograph, seeing as she was on Bridleway. But after walking around the town for about an hour, she decided to really go through the country area of Ponyville. She had heard from one of her cast mates that Ponyville had some of the most beautiful country, so she thought she'd figure out for herself. She set out for the hills, but stopped immediately. On the closest hill, she saw Fluttershy sitting with some animals, singing a tune to herself. It was very familiar to Midnight, because it just so happened to be a showtune. It was from the show, 'Hinny of the Hills', which was the show that Midnight Solo had just done. "Perhaps I had a wicked fillyhood, perhaps I had a miserable youth. But somewhere in my wicked, miserable past, there must have been a moment of truth. For here you are, standing there, loving me, weather or not you should." Midnight Solo was taken aback by Fluttershy's singing. She had never heard a sweater tune in her life. But Fluttershy didn't notice Midnight Solo looking at her, so she continued, "So somewhere in my youth, or fillyhood, I must have done something good." Midnight smiled. She knew the words to this song by heart, and was singing along in her head. "Nothing comes from nothing, nothing ever could, so somewhere in my youth, or fillyhood, I must have done something good." At this point, since in the musical their would be just music playing, Fluttershy was swaing her head, as though to the slow music which would be playing. But after that music would be done, Captain von Trot would sing, instead of Maria, the main character. Midnight had played the Captain, so she knew the words and the tune to his part very well, and was so entranced that she didn't even notice she was singing. Neither did Fluttershy, who was even listening to Midnight sing in her deep voice. (Midnight is an alto). "For here you are, standing there, loving me, weather or not you should." "So, somewhere in my youth," Fluttershy started up again, "or fillyhood. I must have done something good." Then there was the duet, where both of the ponies who happened to be singing it, didn't really realize that the other was singing. "Nothing comes from nothing," They sang, "nothing ever could." "So somewhere in my youth," Fluttershy started "Or fillyhood," Midnight finished. "I must have done something," Fluttershy started again, then they both finished together, "Something good." Now, in the play, this is when Maria and the Captain would kiss, and as you would have it, Fluttershy and Midnight were close to doing so, until they both opened their eyes. Midnight blushed and didn't say anything, but Fluttershy was so surprised that she screamed. But as we all know, Fluttershy doesn't scream very loudly. "I-I'm sorry I startled you. I just had to sing along, 'cause I actually just did Hinny of the Hills, and your singing was so pretty and-" "Wait, you thought my singing was... pretty?" Midnight smiled and said, "Well, yeah! It was one of the best voices I've ever heard, and I work with tons of singers daily!" Fluttershy looked away and blushed. "Your voice was pretty as well" "What? Sorry, I couldn't hear you." "Y-your voice was p-pretty as well." Midnight blushed, and said "Thank you" Many thoughts were running through Midnight's head at that moment. 'Should I tell her, or will there be a better time? What better time could there be, you just sang a duet together! I know, but that might ruin the moment. I bet she'll say no anyways. Just do it, who cares? I do! Well, clearly you don't, because you're actually just talking to yourself in your brain.' Luckily, this brain talk thing didn't last long, and Midnight came to an executive decision. "Hey, Fluttershy?" "Yes?" "Look, I know we just met and all but... When I first saw you, with all your beauty and grace, I felt a connection, and my heart started to race and... Well, I was sort-of in love. But then I got to know you better and I wasn't just sort-of in love, I was in love. Your personality is amazing, I mean you're so caring and compassionate... Honestly, I don't know how your other friends aren't in love with you! I mean, it must be amazing just knowing the beautiful and extraordinary Fluttershy! Oh, and then I heard your singing voice, god your singing voice! I was entranced, and-" But Midnight was cut off by Fluttershy. Fluttershy usually wasn't this assertive, but she felt a push, almost, compelling her to do so. Fluttershy leaned forward and kissed Midnight on the cheek. Fluttershy was already blushing madly by the words that Midnight had said, but now you could mistake her for Big Macintosh she was so red. Midnight was almost a mirror of Fluttershy at the moment as well. "You..I... what?" Fluttershy blushed, and said, "Nopony's ever called me beautiful, not with authenticity. Nopony's ever said such great words about my personality, and Nopony's ever used extraordinary to describe me. Nopony's ever made me feel... In love." "Well, all that I said was true. You truly are beautiful and extraordinary. And may I have the pleasure of taking the beautiful and extraordinary Fluttershy to lunch?" Midnight said as she bowed. Fluttershy giggled, and replied, "Yes, you may," and Fluttershy curtsied. Midnight held her hoof out for Fluttershy to link onto. Fluttershy did so, smiled, and began a conversation with Midnight Solo, feeling as though she was on top of the world, as did Midnight. //-------------------------------------------------------// Midnight's Here! //-------------------------------------------------------// Midnight's Here! Twilight Sparkle paced. Two weeks ago she had gotten a letter from one of her very good friends, saying that she wished to visit her sometime soon for a while to take a break from her job. Of course, Twilight agreed, and they set a date. Well, today was finally that day, and Twilight wasn't sure if she was fully prepared yet. "Spike, is her room ready? Go check." Spike sighed, "Twilight, I just checked! There's no need to be so nervous anyways!" "And why shouldn't I be nervous? I mean, she's practically a celebrity!" "Yeah, but even you know that she doesn't think that. She's modest. Plus you've known her since you were a filly, Twilight!" "I know, but you know how I get when ponies visit." Spike rolled his eyes and walked away. Twilight kept pacing, thinking about all the things that could go wrong when she heard a knock on the door. She rushed to said door and opened it, her heart racing. on the other side of the door stood a blue unicorn with a short manecut and large smile on her face. As the door opened, Twilight wore a smile as well. "Twilight Sparkle, Princess of Friendship, we meet again!" Twilight laughed, "Yes, Midnight Solo, we have met again. And what a pleasure it is!" Both of the ponies laughed and hugged each other. "So, what's it like living in a castle,Princess?" Twilight smiled and said, "It's ok, i'm not really used to this place yet, though. I mean it's so big, it has so may rooms and...it's not the library." "Hey, I understand. Losing your house so quick like that can be scary. The news about Tirek spread like wildfire around Manehattan. As soon as I heard I got really worried but then I thought 'nah, she's got this'." Twilight laughed a little, "Thanks for your support, Midnight it really helped." "I'm sure it did. Now, what're we doing tonight?" "Well, tonight my friend Pinkie Pie has planned a party for your visit, and that should be happening tonight." "Alright! Doing all these shows, I haven't had a real party in a long time! Unless you count a cast party." "Speaking of which, how have your shows been going?" "Oh, my shows have been great! I've done tons since Hinny of the Hills, but each and every one of them have been an amazing experience. I just needed a break, cause theatre can be tough work." "Uh huh, just as hard as being a princess" "I never said that!" Twilight giggled, then checked the time. "We'd better get going, Midnight. The party starts in five minuets!" "You're right, let's go!" At that, the two ponies flew out the door of Twilight's castle, headed for Sugar Cube Corner.
