Electro Flyer woke up in his bed. He stared at the ceiling of Stable 108. He checked the time on his Pip-Buck. 6:42. "Fuck!" He yelled as he shot off his bed and quickly threw on his Utility Jumpsuit.
He trotted down to the locker room. As he reached his locker, he was approached by the always attractive Overmare, Toasted Oats. "Late to your shift again, Flyer?" Toasted Oats teased. Electro Flyer replied "Not now, Oats." Toasted Oats gave Flyer a hurt look as she backed away.
Electro Flyer took his utility belt and welding mask out of his locker. He cantered to his station on the Maintenance Level. The grating on the floor was jagged and rough on his worn hooves.
Electro Flyer took out a flashlight and aimed it at an odd noise coming from behind the power lines. He was bewildered and decided to investigate the odd noise that dare violate his perked ears. He kept hearing the metallic pounding of Stable Dweller hooves on the cold, metal grating. Who or whatever it was, it was running from something. He trotted swiftly after it as it desperately pounded away. He caught a short glimpse of silver and red tail above the flanks of a mare. There was only one pony out of all Stable 108's residents that had a mane and tail like that. The mare that, to Electro Flyer, had the flanks of a goddess. The Overmare. Toasted Oats.
Flyer gave up his pursuit. he couldn't even imagine a reason as to why the Overmare would be on the Maintenance Level, except to flirt with him before his shift. Speaking of his shift, it was over. Flyer trotted towards and up the stairs from the lowest level to the second highest. Maintenance all the way to Residency. He didn't even bother stopping by the locker room to drop off his equipment. He didn't care. He just wanted to quit thinking about why the Overmare was on the Maintenance Level. What kind of business the Overmare could possibly have on that low a level? She always preferred to stay in the comfort of her residency. More specifically, her nice, fluffy bed. It was much better than the one he had. Flyer flopped down onto his bed. He focused on her flank now more than her buisness in Maintenance.
Electro Flyer awoke to a commotion. he bolted up, still bearing his Jumpsuit and Belt. He heard a pounding and screams of terror as he entered the hallway in a rush. He heard the roar. Then he saw it. The ten foot beast sported a pair of incredibly large paws. The paws weren't what Flyer was worried about. The claws were. The twelve inch claws were the part that worried him. His Pip-Buck identified the monster as something called a Hellhound. The Hellhound spotted him and began charging.
Electro Flyer ran away from the Hellhound, to the only door in all of Stable 108 that he didn't know what was behind. Flyer ran through the door and locked it behind him. He turned to what was behind the door. He realized this was one of the hardest choices he had to make. Either face the Hellhound with nothing but his hooves, or leave the Stable. He sighed and pressed the button to move the elevator up with his large, Pegasus hooves.

As Electro Flyer entered the Wasteland, he checked his Pip-Buck. He only had one location on his map besides good 'ol Stable 108. Hoofball City. Better head there.
Electro Flyer stood near the gate to Hoofball City. He decided not to go in quite yet. He turned away and saw a crazy looking pony bearing jagged, spiked armor and a nasty smile. He back around to be met Face-to-Face with a metal beast. Well, Face to chest. The metal giant was a large Black pony bearing both wings and Horn. Flyer couldn't believe his eyes. He just stared at the stallion in awe. "Can I help you, citizen?" The giant pony asked. Flyer hardly noticed the stallion speak. "Erm, no sir." was the timid reply given by Electro Flyer. He then noticed the large 002 painted on the pony's chest. The metal pony then boomed "Then step aside." Flyer obliged and not only watched, but heard the big pony walk away into Hoofball City.
The mare guarding the gate called Flyer over. "Hey, buddy! Come here a sec." she yelled. Electro Flyer trotted happily over and asked, "Can I help you, miss?" Flyer asked. "Nah, kid. But I need to tell ya somethin'. That big mare you were talkin' to ain't no normal pony. He's a pony from them ponies from that little group called 'Little Party'. Well, Little somethin'. It's always scratched out when I see it on the aromr. But treat them boys with a bit of respect. It keeps 'em happy" she said. "Oh ok. Thanks ma'am." He replied.
The first thing Elctro Flyer noticed was the painful amount of references to the dead sport of Hoofball. He headed straight to a large pavilion with a gigantic neon sign on it. It was in the shape of a large bowl of spaghetti. He guessed a quick bite to eat couldn't hurt.
The noodles were rather salty, with just a hint of obviously industrial flavoring. After his noodles, Electro Flyer trotted to a security mare. "Hey, can ya gimme some directions?" Flyer asked. "Sure. Where do you need to go, citizen?" security mare replied. "I-I need to go to a general goods store of some kind." Flyer said. "Oh! You're gonna want to head on over to 'Sunrise Sassy's Sunrise Sarsaparilla Co'. She's got everything there. From Sparkle Cola to guns!" she exclaimed. "Okay, thank ya ma'am." Flyer said as he trotted off towards the old Sunrise Sarsaparilla Company factory to get some form of supplies. Not much a pony can do in the Wasteland with no stiff to help 'em get by.
"Hi, I'm Sunrise Sassy! Owner of Sunrise Sassy's General Goods! How may I be of service to such a fine stallion such as yourself?" Sunrise Sassy spat out rapidly. She shouted it the second Electro Flyer walked through the door. It was almost like she was anticipating his arrival. "Um, I'm just browsing for now. But thanks." Flyer replied. The mare still had her big smile, but it was a bit sad now. She looked like she had really been hoping she could help somepony out.. Flyer felt a little guilty. "Actually, I could use a little help. I'm looking for things that could help me avoid some form of brutal death out here." he said. "Oh! I have the finest firearms in all of Hoofball City! Looking for anything specific?" the perky, blue mare asked. "Um...anything basic? B-but not too basic. And it would be lovely if you could also teach me how to use a gun?" he said, timidly. "Why of course! I have just the thing for somepony like you." she said, the pulled out a little black box. "This her is a Lazer Pistol. To shoot it, for a pony without magic, ya take it in your mouth and fire by usin' ya tongue to pull the trigger." She said as she expertly demonstrated. "It's all yours for lets say...thirty five caps!"she added. "I-I'm sorry? Did you say caps? As in bottle caps? What the hell would you want caps for?" he asked, being morbidly confused. She had a hurt look on her face. She said "You don't know why I'd collect 'em? It's cause it's currency here. Wait a minute." She then circled around him to get a good look at the jumpsuit he'd been wearing. "Oh! You must be from one of them Stable thingies, right? That explains a lot." She said as she reclaimed her throne of being the perkiest pony that Flyer had ever seen. "Yes I am, Miss Sunrise." Flyer replied, proudly. "Well, caps are like money. And since you're probably still fresh from your Stable, I'm gonna give ya this book, along with the Lazer Pistol for free. I understand you don't know much yet." she said, giving him the gun and a book. An ugly, grey book with no art on the cover. The blank cover bored Flyer, but he decided that a few minutes of boredom was better sounding than dying. The first page was a bit comedic to read:
So you see that pony right there? A few yards away? He or she wears metal armor, donned in spikes, yes? That's a Raider pony. He doesn't want to be your best friend. He only wants to bludgeon you to death with your own hooves. He should probably be avoided, but if need be, shoot him as soon as possible so you can avoid death. Remember: The longer they've been a Raider, the crazier they are!
Electro Flyer grew bored after the first chapter or so. All he could really learn from the book was how to avoid enemies and how to use his new Lazer Shooting Thingy. He left Sunrise and trotted back to the same security mare. "Hey, I need directions again." he said as he'd approached her. He startled her slightly. "What do you need to find now, Stranger?" she asked. "Is there any places in the city where I could rent a bed?" he replied. "Oh yea! Just head on over to Pitcher Mound's Dugout. It's a hotel." she answered. "Thanks." Flyer added as he cantered towards the hotel.
"She forgot to mention it full of drunken morons." Electro Flyer mumbled to himself as he entered the lower part of the hotel. Pitcher Mound's Dugout was not only a hotel, but also a bar. He slapped down all the caps that he could find, which was only about eight, and slumped onto the bar stool. "What will this buy me?" Flyer asked the bartender. "Eight caps? Probably uh...bottled water." the bartender responded. "Anything stiff?" Flyer basically begged. "With eight caps? Fuck no." the bartender answered. Electro Flyer picked up his caps and put them back into his saddle bag. He walked back out the hotel and trotted towards Sunrise Sassy's.
"Sunrise?" Electro Flyer said as he entered. "Oh! It's you again. How can I help ya?"She asked. "I was wondering if I could stay here for the night?" He replied. "Oh. It'll cost ya. Five caps, since you're new to the Wasteland." She answered. He smiled and trotted over to her and gave her five caps. "Ya know, I only have one bed. so you're gonna have to share one with me." She said flirtatiously. "O-oh. Okay." Flyer replied, shyly. She laughed as she trotted cheerily up the stairs, with Flyer following behind her. Flyer had never noticed how attractive Sunrise was.
In Sunrise's bedroom, Sunrise walked over to her dresser and took off the apron she was wearing. there stood the blue mare. Completely naked. "Oh my! I'm sorry, Miss Sassy!" Flyer said as his reddening face became visible through his white coat. "Don't be sorry, Kid." she said with a wink. She lied down on her bed and patted the area next to her. "Well, what are you waiting for?" Sunrise said. "Oh, uh.. Nothing! I'm coming, Miss Sassy" Flyer replied. He walked over and curled up next to her. She grabbed his hoof and threw into over herself like a blanket. She smiled. He just awkward fell asleep. That was not what she was hoping for. after He was asleep, she huffed with annoyance. She then fell asleep with her annoyance festering.
Electro Flyer woke up, still wrapped around Sunrise. He slowly got up and stretched his joints, sore from the day before. Sunrise awoke with her cheerful smile. She trotted over to him. "Breakfast?" She asked. "Huh?" Flyer replied. "Breakfast. Do you want breakfast. Ya know? The meal you eat in the mornings?" she tried explaining. "OH, right. Sure." She seemed satisfied with his response, and led him to the refrigerator she kept in the corner of the room. "It's basically either water or Sparkle Cola." she said. "I guess I'll take the water?" he replied. She gave him the Sparkle Cola. "Hey, I have a question." he said. "Oh yea? What is it?" she asked. "Well, If I'm going to travel the Wasteland, I'm going to need someone that knows their way around weapons and healing. plus I could use someone to talk to. So I was wondering if you would come with me?" he asked. "Sure, why the fuck not?" She answered.
The two ponies trotted out of Sunrise Sassy's. Before they left, Sunrise hung a sign on the door that said "See you next season!" The two ponies then walked through the streets and out the front gate of Hoofball City. "Hey, What's this do?!" Sassy asked as she pressed a button on Electro Flyer's Pip-Buck. Music played loudly from the PIp-Buck.

Electro Flyer and his companion Sunrise Sassy danced as they listened to music coming from Flyer's Pip-Buck. "Hey Ponies! Rumor has it that a Stable was attacked only days ago, resulting in no survivors. Our hearts go out to Stable 108." said the little radio. "Who was that? That wasn't music." Flyer said, painfully curious. "Oh that? That's DJ PON-3. He gives a shit ton of news about current affairs in the Wasteland. It's pretty fun to listen to. I used to have a radio back at my shop." She said. Sunrise had been missing her little store. Although she it's only been a few days, it feels like months to Flyer since the two had left Hoffball City. The catchy music returned to their ears. "Hey, where are we going?" asked Sunrise after a few moments of just music. "We are heading to a little town I found on my map." replied Flyer. "Oh okay. Where's that?" her onslaught of questions seeming endless. "Luxury Hill." He replied. "Why?" another question. "A chance to get caps." he replied. "What's the bounty on?" she asked. "six hundred caps if we clear the town. It's full of Raiders." He answered. She finally stopped asking questions. They could see the small town. The two ponies laid low. Sunrise took out her sniper rifle. One of the many weapons in the arsenal she brought. She used it rather than Flyer because, not only was it hers, but she had magic to work with. It's pretty much impossible to be accurate when you have to hold your weapons in your mouth.
She took aim and fired. The shot missed every possible target. All it did really, was get the attention of the poor pony next the shot. The two ponies hid behind the nearest house. Flyer used his pistol to burn holes into the necks of two ponies. The two poor victims fell to the ground and stared at Sunrise as she watched them drown in their own blood. With a smile on her face. Flyer knew this unicorn was crazy. Earlier that day, she had run out of ammo in her sniper rifle, so she thought it was clever to cleave Raiders with her gun. Just like a mad mare.
The two ponies then trotted out of cover. The area was safe all because Sunrise went on a butcher spree while Flyer sat and thought about why his only friend was a complete mad mare. the two ponies proceeded into the house they had taken cover behind.
Inside the house, Flyer and Sunrise found an audio log sitting on a table just inside the door. "Can we listen to it?" asked Sunrise. "Sure, why not?" responded Flyer. He picked up the audio log and crammed it into his Pip-Buck. He read the title: Suicide Note. He sighed and hit played.
"This will be my last entry for a while." said a soft, mare's voice. The crunching of leaves beneath hooves could be heard. "Ministry of Peace and I have failed to stop everypony from fighting. The zebras still dropped their Mega Spells on Equestria. Our field nurses couldn't help the poor ponies that were tortured with the effects of the Mega Spells. I have no purpose if there isn't anypony left to help." the soft pony voice was then heard sobbing. It got more distant. Flyer assumed it was because the mare was walking away. Then her hooves stopped crunching leaves as her body was heard hitting the ground. The mare was obviously dead, but hoof steps were still heard once more. Then all that was heard was the wind. The audio log ended.
A new quest appeared on Flyer's Pip-Buck. "Soul Search" was the name of Flyer's new task. "Hey Flyer, how'd the tape get to this house if the mare died in the woods?" asked Sunrise. "Huh. I don't know. Why don't we try to find out?" answered Flyer. The two ponies trotted out of the house. Sunrise was cheerful, but Flyer wasn't good with dealing with the death of ponies. After all, Sunrise had done most of the killing. "Look! There!" Sunrise shouted as she pointed with her hoof towards a bunch of dead trees. "What of it? It's just some dead trees." Flyer said. "The mare in the tape died in those woods!" Sunrise shouted once more. "It doesn't mean those woods. There's tons of woods around here." Flyer replied. Sunrise ignored him and began bouncing towards the woods. Flyer sighed, trotting after her.
When they got to the woods, the first thing that Sunrise Sassy did was start sneaking around on the very tips of her hooves. "What are you doing?" asked Electro Flyer. "Discovering!" shouted Sunrise. Flyer groaned and began walking with her. Sunrise suddenly shot her hoof in the way of Flyer. "A clue!" she shouted as she pointed at some hoof prints. "Sunrise, those look no where near two hundred years old. They don't belong to that mare on the tape." said Flyer. Sunrise just began bouncing once more, dirt crunching aggressively beneath her hooves. Her hooves shot to the ground in all directions as she scanned the area. "Another clue!" she shouted. Her horn illuminated a circle around some incredibly fresh looking blood. "Sunrise, that's not the mare's blood. But something out here is wounded, and I don't want to find out what." Flyer said. "Priorities!" Sunrise shouted. "I have my priorities straight. I'm putting our lives before this stupid, two hundred year old crime investigation!" Flyer began shouting. Tears began to well up in Sunrise's eyes. "What's the matter, now?" Flyer asked in a shout. "Y-y-you yelled at me!" Sunrise yelled in response. The mare then began to cry like a filly and ran in the direction away from Flyer. "Sunrise, wait!" Flyer yelled after her. She didn't stop. She kept running until she disappeared into the ever-growing fog.
Flyer ran after her. He had to get her back, he just had to. He crashed through all the dead branches. Visibility was difficult through the thickness of the fog. He put his head down to avoid getting whipped in the face by branches. He continued breaking through the deceased foliage with his eyes sealed shut. His lack of visibility prevented him from seeing Sunrise lying in the dirt. He tripped over her and face planted. He opened his eyes. He turned to Sunrise. "Sunrise, I'm sorry I yelled at you. Please don't run away from me like that again." he said. "Uh-uh-okay. I'm sorry too." she said, wiping the tears from her eyes. "Look what I found." she said as she pointed to a pony skeleton lying in the dirt. "The body of the mare in the tape? Um, okay." Flyer replied, utterly confused. He walked over to the body. Well, skeleton. He looked at the chest of what was left of a lab coat the mare had been wearing. "Ministry of Peace." he read aloud. He read a small tag above the Ministry of Peace logo. "Fluttershy?" he read, confused. "Ministry Mare Fluttershy killed herself?" asked Sunrise. "I guess so." Flyer replied.
The two ponies turned back to find a moving mass in the distance. The two ponies turned back to find the moving pony was mad a silhouette by the fog. Flyer checked his Pip-Buck to see if it was hostile. It glowed with a yellow indicator. Flyer and Sunrise approached the pony with caution. What they found was a grey stallion with the word "Smile"carved into both flanks where a cutie mark should have been. The moving they had seen was the rise and fall of the stallion's chest.
"He's unconscious." Flyer said. "Let's help him!" said Sunrise. Flyer groaned as Sunrise levitated the stallion onto his back. The two, now three ponies moved in the direction of a structure Sunrise spotted in the distance. Flyer clicked the radio back on. DJ PON-3 was rambling on about some mare called "Security" that cleared out Raiders somewhere. Flyer wasn't paying attention enough to care about some hero in Hoofington. He was too lost in thought about how guilty he was for making Sunrise cry. He didn't care if she was as sensitive as a filly. He just knew he felt bad about upsetting her. He regained focus of the Wasteland around him when music started to play. The trip to the strange structure was completely silent, aside from the music. No pony uttered a single word.
When they got to the structure, they weren't greeted by any pony. It seemed empty. When Flyer stepped through the door, he was greeted by the green light of a terminal, shrouded by the mass of a stallion in armor. "Mr. Large Pony? Um, who are you?" Sunrise asked. The stallion turned around and would probably have looked shocked if Flyer was able to see the stallion's face.
