Chapters The beginning of a new love (Edited)
Rainbow Dash was still upset at her friends for stating she should find a special somepony sometime soon. She thought they had understood that she wouldn't be interested in anypony anytime soon, and even if she was, it took time to build relationships. Her eyes flickered red, not that it was noticeable in her dark surroundings.
Just because each of her friends were in a relationship, didn't mean she should have to be. She could perfectly list all of their relationships; Fluttershy had married Big Macintosh and they had a 9 year old daughter, Pinkie Pie was married to Cheese Sandwich, Rarity was engaged to Fancy Pants, Twilight dating Comet Tail, and Applejack was dating Flim, but that didn't mean Rainbow needed to get involved with somepony, not yet anyway. She just didn't fly that way.
"Uh, Rainbow? What are you doing in the Everfree?" Rainbow jumped in surprise and squeaked, not something that she would ever admit to. She calmed down after a few seconds, before taking in her surroundings,
"Huh?" Rainbow rubbed her eyes, now green, and blinked, trying to make sure that they were working correctly. "The Everfree?"
Remedy rubbed her hind legs together, wondering how Rainbow hadn't noticed her surroundings earlier. "Yeah."
A roar echoed through the forest, sounding oddly like the creaking of wood. Nature, forgetting the awkward conversation, screamed in panic, bolting so fast it could be safely assumed that she had teleported. Rainbow, unfortunately, did not know her way through the forest like the filly, who had darted away before she could ask. She flew up to see where she was, groaning when she realized that she was completely lost, having wandered farther than she'd originally guessed.
"I hate being lost," Rainbow muttered, her eyes returning to their normal magenta hue. She turned around, guessing her direction, and set off, not caring if it made her situation worse.
Flying up a couple hours later, the young mare groaned as she saw that she was still surrounded by trees. Never. Ending. Trees...
"Still lost...This sucks! Why couldn't I have just gone home!? Why?!?!" Her eyes became two shades darker as she shouted dramatically to the heavens, knowing that nopony would be within range to be able hear her. Rainbow's eyes continued to darken as she continued her flight through the wild forest.
Natural Remedy bolted out of the woods, screaming like she had just seen a horde of zombies. Fluttershy, worried for her daughter, quickly fluttered over and began checking for wounds.
"What happened? Are you hurt?" Remedy shook her head in embarrassment as she realized what she had done.
"It's okay, it was just the Timberwolves howl again." Fluttershy sighed in relief and smiled in amusement at her little filly. Fluttershy's smile quickly fell into a frown as she recalled why she was outside with her friends in the first place.
"Okay honey, have you seen Rainbow Dash? I haven't seen her since this morning and I may need her help." Remedy tilted her head, not knowing how to answer the question without getting in trouble,
"Well, I did see her, but she was pretty deep in the forest." Twilight, who had overheard the conversation, gasped and exclaimed,
"We need to find her, the forest is dangerous! Do you know where you were!?" Remedy shuffled, her face reddening in embarrassment,
"Um, I kinda, forgot. Hehe."
Rainbow stomped through the woods, her eyes a darkened mixture of orange and red.
"I hate this. Now I can't even get home, and even if Twilight cast a tracking spell on me, she'd probably blow something up," the agitated mare muttered, her eyes flicking back and forth, trying desperately to find a way out of the cursed forest.
Something rustled nearby. Rainbow froze, eyes turning purple as she turned around apprehensively. At first she saw nothing, then the bush right next to her rustled a second time, though this one was weaker than the last. Something was inside the bush, and from her memory of Daring Do books, she knew that it had to be either very good, or very very bad. Judging by the weak movements of the bush, it was probably the latter. Extremely carefully, Rainbow moved the wet twigs and damp leaves aside to get a clear view of whatever was in the bush.
She froze again, eyes turning a mix of blood red and deep purple as uncontrollable panic and horror flooded through her. She stared, unable to move or even scream, not that anypony would hear her at this point.
"Oh, it's no use, darling, we've been searching for hours now!" Rarity fussed with her now dirty mane, trying to get the twigs, leaves, and thorns out with varying levels of success."I think we should just wait by her house and see if she comes back, if she isn't back by morning, then we can resume searching."
"Ya know, fer once Ah agree with her. Let's wait," said Applejack, who was becoming increasingly irritated as she watched Rarity fumble with her mane.
"Fine. But if she isn't back when we check her house tomorrow, I'm contacting the police," Twilight replied, rather begrudgingly.
Fluttershy gasped. "But...what if she gets hurt? What if they can't find her?! She could DIE!!!" Applejack and Rarity kept their opinions to themselves, Fluttershy was far too worried for her own good.
Rainbow just stood there in complete horror, she was looking at a changeling, and it hadn't so much as hissed in her direction. She shook her head, deeming it safe enough to approach.
"Are... are you alright? Why haven't you attacked me?" As Dash asked this, her eyes swirled with different shades and hues of green.
The changeling hissed in pain as it turned to look at her. "I... hate those changelings... *cough* I hate... their rules... I ... *hack* can't live in this state," the changeling said, voice echoing and hissing at the same time.
Rainbow was surprised to say the least. Who would hate their own race? She blurted out the question, green, orange, and purple raced through her eyes as she realized how rude that was, Dash blushed a bit and apologized for her rudeness. "Sorry."
The changeling coughed up a little green slime and chuckled at her weakly. "It's... okay... my name... Midnight Wonder... get bush... off *hack* you'll see," Midnight's breaths came in ragged gasps.
Puzzled, Dash did as the male changeling requested. As she moved the bush, a strange smell and an aura of panic assaulted her. She gasped, eyes shining like red blood in complete horror at the scene that lay before her.
The changeling had a large gash running down his back, oozing green fluid. His wings were tattered, large gashes ripped through them. One leg was so bloody he looked as if he should have died of blood loss, although, thankfully, he didn't. Many wide, bloody cracks intersected on his shell, green blood pouring down his side. Rainbow held back a gag, now she knew why the bush was wet. Struggling to remain conscious, she sat down. Seeing someone in this much pain made Dash feel a little pain herself, it was in her nature.
"W-Who did this?" She stared as Midnight hacked,
"Siblings..*cough**hack*."
Her eyes became and odd shade of yellow as she weighed he options, choosing not to acknowledge his response, knowing that it would anger her. She eventually decided that, changeling or not, she was not going to let somepony die, especially not in the sacred and wild forests of the Everfree.
"My name is Rainbow Dash, and I'm going to help you."
Midnight coughed again and beamed at her. "Thank you... Dassshh... Ponyville is.... that way..." He pointed west with his least battered hoof. "Can... feel... pony love..."
Rainbow nodded, carefully putting the changeling on her back before flying to her house at top speed, no hospital would accept a changeling, luckily she had enough experience to help him. Her rainbow trail was broken in several places by green streaks as she raced through the skies.
Author's Note
Okay, so this was edited by me because I lost contact with TodayIwriteFanfics and I really didn't like the short chapters, so I'm going to try to fix that. Just know that it will take a while because I don't really have much time between all three of my accounts. Bye and have a great day, luckily school is almost out. I had to edit this three times because it kept deleting itself. My head hurts, I'm going to sleep, it's currently 11:12 PM, not bad. Bye!
Worries distinguished (Edited)
"Where is it?! I know I have one somewhere," Dash muttered to herself, ripping through boxes and drawers, looking for the first aid kit that she always kept in the kitchen.
"Hah, found 'em!" she exclaimed, eyes flickering yellow before returning to purple as she remembered why she needed medical supplies. Rainbow trotted upstairs as she calmed herself, she didn't want to puke all over the poor changeling while bandaging him.
Rainbow tended the changeling's wounds carefully. After several hours of cleaning cuts, sticking together chitin breaks, and putting on a few casts, she wiped her brow. That was easier than she had planned for. Rainbow quietly closed the door and walked back downstairs to clean herself.
Twilight smirked at the other ponies before her,
"Well, it's been two hours and no sign of Dash, now we go to the police."
"Uh, maybe we could go to her house, just to be sure?" Fluttershy asked, voice barely above a whisper. She didn't want this to turn into an argument.
"I agree, maybe she found her way back and went straight home to clean up." Nature was always butting in on adult conversations.
"Fine, but if she's not there I'm alerting the Police. Got it?" Everyone else nodded, agreeing with both the purple unicorn and the yellow pegasus.
Rainbow's purple eyes flickered as she cleaned the green blood off of her hooves and torso. Her ears perked up as someone knocked on the door. Dash quickened her cleaning process so that the pony at the door didn't get offended by the long wait.
"Who is it?"
"It's us, your friends. Remedy came too." Rainbow went back to her slow pace, not caring how long that they had to wait. Her eyes glowed red, memories of what her friends had said echoing through her mind.
When she finally finished cleaning herself, the cyan mare hesitantly opened the door, her eyes swirling red and purple as she did so. Once the door was open, her friends blasted through, tackling her to the ground in a group hug. Rainbow squirmed a bit, not expecting the sudden weight, luckily clouds were soft and it didn't hurt her when she fell to the ground.
"Oh, Rainbow, we were so worried about you!" Fluttershy's usual quiet voice cut through the sound of ponies laughing as she nuzzled Rainbow like a mother would a child. Rainbow stopped struggling, realizing that she wouldn't be getting out of her predicament until the other ponies got off first, instead, the rainbow maned mare replied to Fluttershy's comment,
"I'm fine, might have took me a little while to get out but I'm fine!"
After a few more minutes of laying on the ground and cuddling Rainbow, the other mares got off. Twilight sighed as she looked at Rainbow,
"You worried us. Remedy came and she told us that you were in the forest. Do you know how dangerous that is!? You could've been attacked by a hundred different creatures! What if you ran into a cockatrice!? Or a pack of Timberwolves! Honestly, do you ever think before you do!?" Rainbow zoned out Twilight, pretending like she was listening. When Twilight stopped talking, Rainbow sighed,
"A whole bunch of things could've happened, but they didn't. Besides, I didn't intentionally go into the forest, I was kind of lost in my thoughts, only snapping out of it when Remedy approached me." Rainbow prodded the filly in the stomach, making her giggle. Fluttershy smiled at the scene, Remedy always liked Rainbow as a big sister, not having one herself.
Applejack spoke up and sighed, she patted Rainbow's head condescendingly,
"Honestly, Ah wonder what goes on in that brain. Sometimes Ah wonder if ya even have one." Applejack chuckled at the angry expression on Rainbow's face. Twilight silently took in the scene, noticing her friends eyes change to red. Twilight didn't question it, but she filed it away for further research, she wondered if Rainbow could have a disease or a special ability.
Rarity walked up to the already tortured mare and placed her manicured hoof on the other mare's shoulder. Rarity smiled at her sweetly,
"You need not worry darling, we understand that you aren't ready for a special somepony, which I assume was the reason that you were lost in your thoughts enough to go into the forest unintentionally. Rainbow, just take your time, we are sorry for rushing you darling." Rainbow nodded, blushing at the idea of a special somepony. Twilight gave a fake smile, something that Dash noticed rather quickly, and she gathered all of the mare's,
"Well, we'll get out of your mane. I'm sure that you want to rest after this incident. Just make sure not to enter the forest without another pony." Rainbow nodded, giving an unnoticeable glare to Twilight,
"Sure." Twilight nodded in satisfaction, not noticing the seething look that Rainbow's eyes gave her,
"Okay then, bye Dash!" Rainbow waved to them as the group floated back to Twilight's house in her hot air balloon, she inwardly wondered where Twilight hid the thing.
Rainbow shook her head and smiled, a small one of course, to her friends, mostly Rarity, Fluttershy and Remedy, she wondered where Pinkie had been, she always makes time for her friends. Maybe she just slept in, until 2:00, yeah she definitely slept in. With that thought pushed out of her mind, Rainbow went to check on Midnight, to make sure that he wasn't awakened by the noise of the other mares.
Rainbow quietly opened the door, silently thankful that cloud doors don't creak, and gazed at Midnight's still sleeping form. Good, she thought, Midnight isn't a light sleeper. Rainbow closed the door, smiling to herself for no reason, eyes tinted pink more so than usual, and walked to her room down the hall. She grinned, those extra rooms had come in handy after all. Dash decided not to sleep, but instead do some light flying and some exploring until sunset.

Alright, I've got this edited, it's now 9:14 AM, not bad since I started at 8:41, although I really need to get faster at this. Good morning! Bye!
Rainbow woke up, her alarm clock, despite being quieter, had still woken her up. Rainbow rubbed her tired magenta eyes and washed up, she took a cold shower to wake her up. As she cleaned herself, she went through the events of yesterday;
First, she was told to find a special somepony, which she finds as an insult. Next, she accidentally walks deep into the Everfree forest, she still wondered how that was possible. Then she finds a heavily injured changeling in the forest, she still wondered how exactly that happened. And then she takes said changeling home to heal him. Then she is assaulted by her friends. Yeah a hectic day.
Rainbow dried herself and brushed her teeth, knowing what Colgate would do to her if she didn't. Remedy didn't brush her teeth because she kept getting cavities when she brushed them, she found out that if she didn't brush them, she didn't get cavities, she could mask the scent of bad breath with her breakfast. Rainbow herself found it disgusting, until she found out that children's teeth differ from adults and that was why it worked for Remedy.
Midnight groaned, his back hurt, in fact, now that he thought about it, his everything hurt! Midnight relaxed as he realized that he wasn't hurting as badly as he had the day before. The changeling looked at himself, silently taking in the numerous casts and bandages.
"Sheesh, this is pure overkill." Midnight quickly sniffed the air, wanting to know who's house he was in. He quickly caught scent of lightning, rain, and flowers, he didn't recognize the scent, but he knew that it was a pegasus mare, he only knew that it was a mare because of the flower smell that only mares had, no matter their race or job, mares always smelled like flowers, especially when they're most fertile. It was clear that the mare either enjoyed flying during storms, or was a weather worker, he was sure that the mare did both because of the excessive smell of lightning, no weather worker could smell that much like lightning unless they frequently put themselves in danger, which none ever did.
Midnight could hear hoof steps coming closer, he realized that the mare's scent was also getting stronger, then it clicked, everything from before, the mare who had saved him was Rainbow Dash. She must've healed him too, judging by the fact that her scent was the only one strong enough to have been here recently, other scents were from months ago.
When Rainbow Dash opened the door, Midnight had to force himself not to drool, the female was practically radiating love, platonic of course, but still, it was like a buffet. Midnight couldn't understand why she helped him, a changeling, when she knew that she could be harmed severely by one. Rainbow smiled at him, making sure that she didn't show any resentment for Twilight from the day before.
"Are you feeling any better. You were in pretty bad shape when I first found you." Midnight held back a blush, why the hell was he having to do that. He never blushed!
"Y-Yeah, I'm feeling better now. If you don't mind me asking, why did you help me." Rainbow kept smiling at him, she was being sweet to him, why was she doing that!? She was never sweet to any pony! Nice maybe, but not this nice!
While she was distracted by her own thoughts, Midnight absorbed some of her love, but he didn't dare try more than that, although it was delicious, he couldn't do that to such a wonderful mare.
"I helped you because you were hurt. Like you said, you couldn't have lived in that state. I wouldn't let any pony die if I could prevent it, even if they were evil, we can reform them. We've reformed quite a few villains, it's very rare that we do otherwise. You weren't doing anything wrong, and even if you were, I would have helped. It pains me to see others in pain, especially if I knew that I could've done something. You needed my help, so I helped you." Midnight smiled at her,
"You're the only one besides my best friend who's ever been nice to me." Rainbow looked like her heart had dropped hearing those words, her eyes changed, blue on the top, purple on the bottom. He could practically feel worry radiating off of her, just like her love,
"Who was your friend?" Midnight smiled as he recalled some rather fond memories,
"His name was Thorax, like me he didn't like hurting others, instead, he wanted to make friends and share love. I completely supported that, but no one wants to befriend a changeling. My friend, Thorax, was the prince, the heir to Queen Chrysalis's throne. He didn't know that because no one wanted a softy to be the ruler, so they thought it best to keep quiet. The only reason that I knew that he was prince was that he was the same color as Chrysalis, instead of being a really dark grey. After he managed to escape though, we lost contact." Rainbow smiled at the changeling, remembering what she had heard from Spike,
"Well, my friend Spike, he actually met Thorax. He persuaded the Crystal Ponies to befriend him, and now Thorax lives in the Crystal Empire. Next time we go, I'll bring you with me." Midnight smiled, though the moment was ruined when his stomach growled. He blushed,
"Ahehehe. Um, do you have any food? Changelings can eat solid food, chocolate would be our favorite solid food because it tastes like love." Rainbow nodded,
"Of course, I'll bring you up some food. I'll be back in a bit!" Midnight was amazed when he saw her fly off, she was fast. Very fast, like how fast his heart was beating. He was perplexed, what was happening to him?
Twilight sighed, she'd had no luck so far with her research, nothing about it was in any book. Not a disease, okay, is it hereditary? Maybe, okay who could she have gotten it from? Oh so nobody documented, well scrap that! Twilight was getting more and more frustrated, luckily she didn't ever lose her temper when she was researching, unless someone barges in, like Spike just did.
Twilight turned around and yelled at him,
"WHAT DO YOU WANT!!!?" Spike flinched, he was holding a tray of hay burgers and hay fries, along with some apple pastries. Spike stuttered, he should have just let her starve,
"Um, you missed lunch, so I thought that I might get you something." Twilight instantly calmed down, while not guilty, she was embarrassed,
"Oh, uh, sorry Spike. Thanks." She levitated the tray from Spike's claws and the little dragon bolted out the door, closing it behind him. Twilight sighed and started munching on her food. She wondered what exactly caused Rainbow's eyes to change colors.
Rainbow balanced the breakfast tray on her wing, making sure that the excessive amount of chocolate didn't fall. She'd made chocolate milk, chocolate pancakes and finally a chocolate bar to top it all off, she just hoped that she didn't make his already sick state worse with the large amount of chocolate he was eating.
Rainbow opened the door and smiled at the changeling, who was sniffing the air and had started to drool. Apparently her food wasn't that bad, because when she gave it to him, he quickly finished it, making sure that he didn't forget his manners in the process.
Dash grabbed the tray from the now full changeling,
"I take it that you liked the food?" Midnight nodded,
"Yes! That's the best chocolate that I've ever had! You could become a star chef with that food!" Rainbow blushed and rubbed that back of her neck, not used to others complimenting her cooking,
"Well, I'm not that great. If you want great sweets, you'll have to meet Pinkie, she's a great baker. Although she can be very insane, no one can deny that she makes great food." Midnight smiled at her, before scowling at his casts,
"When do I get out of these stupid casts?" Rainbow frowned, her eyes turning pink, blue and orange, she seemed guilty and upset,
"Well, unfortunately, you'll be bedridden for at most 10 weeks." Midnight groaned,
"Damnit!" Rainbow looked like she was about to smack him, before remembering that he wasn't a child, instead, she steeled herself and frowned,
"Please watch your language." Midnight chuckled when he saw her restraining herself,
"Sorry. It's a habit." Rainbow shook her head, she smiled at him in amusement, making Midnight's heart flutter.
"Just don't do it around the children in the town." Midnight nodded, blushing in the process. He inwardly cursed himself for not being able to hold it back. Rainbow caught notice of the blush and refrained from commenting, he'd tell her when he was ready.

Yes chapter done! I love the fact that I'm keeping the reason of her eyes changing a secret till later. And it is all thanks to Todayiwritefanfics please check her out
Twilight was working her flank off and she still hadn't found out why Rainbow Dash's eyes change colors. Spike looked at her worriedly,
"You should probably just let it be Twi. You're driving yourself crazy." Twilight growled at the dragon,
"No! I will not stop! It's a new discovery and I need to find out exactly where it came from!" Twilight stomped around the room, her amethyst eyes landed on a piece of parchment and a quill. Twilight lit up,
"Of course! Spike, take a note please!" Spike sighed, at least she wasn't yelling at him anymore.
Dear Princess Celestia,
I am writing this to inform you that I have made a discovery. Rainbow Dash has eyes that seem to change to the color corresponding with her emotions. This is the first time that it's happened, if you have any information I'd be extremely grateful.
Your faithful student and colleague,
Twilight Sparkle
Spike sighed as he read the letter aloud to Twilight. After she decided that it was fine to send, Spike burned the parchment and the magic smoke carried through the air quickly to reach Celestia. After Spike had sent it, he looked at Twilight,
"I wouldn't hold your breath. Celestia may not have any information on Dash's eye problem, if it can even be considered a problem." Twilight sighed and glared at her assistant,
"Leave me be before I decide to do something reckless." After hearing his monarch threaten him, Spike quickly ran off with his pointed tail between his legs. He was kind of regretting starting to grow, he was too tall to hide and his new wings kept getting in the way. Spike grumbled as he found his head spike stuck in the wood. He heard laughter behind him, the female dragon spoke up,
"N-Need a little help?" Ember had a hard time holding in her giggles, her boyfriend was stuck in a wall, who wouldn't laugh at that.
Ember finally composed herself and smiled at Spike as she grabbed him and started pulling, stopping whenever he yelped or whimpered in pain.
Celestia barely caught the note that had been sent. The princess unraveled it slowly, wondering what adventure her associate had gone on this time.
As Celestia read through the rather short letter, her worries grew for her younger sister, could she really have unknowingly blown her cover? Rainbow Dash was similar to Flurry Heart, but she couldn't tell Twilight that could she? Celestia sighed, she wandered through the castle, trying to find her sister's tower, at this time, she'd either be sleeping or playing chess with an off-duty guard.
When Celestia finally reached her sister's tower, she knocked on the door. She heard a soft reply, obviously a tired one,
"One second please." Celestia heard hoof steps that could be confused with a drunk pony's ones, but Luna didn't drink, she usually just settled with water or tea. Luna opened the door, bags under her eyes, she smiled tiredly and yawned,
"What does thy sister need?" Celestia smiled,
"Uh, I think Rainbow may have accidentally blown her cover." Luna looked up, staring blankly at Celestia, until her elder sister's words sunk in, she shook her head,
"Our young sister may be negligent, but this incident could not have been intentional." Celestia shuffled,
"I don't believe that it was intentional, but you do know that it becomes hard to hide our true selves when we find true love, could that be what's happening?" Luna sighed, thinking it over,
"The possibility is there, although we have no proof of it. Young Clima may not be bright, but she'd never blow her cover, not for anything. We should investigate, come, send a letter to Twilight to calm her and send one to Clima, so that we can find what's truly going on."
Twilight waited patiently for a response letter, although, after thirty minutes, she was starting to lose her patience. Luckily, right before she was going to interrogate Spike, a letter appeared in front of her,
Dear Twilight,
I have reason to believe that certain things happen when a pony finds true love. For you and Comet Tail, your magic abilities grew. For Applejack and Flim, their bodies became stronger. For Rarity and Fancy, their beauty grew to amazing levels. This may be the reason behind Rainbow's sudden change, although this may not be correct, it is a hypothesis that is worth looking into.
Your Princess,
Princess Celestia
Twilight smiled,
"Okay, well if she's right, that means that Rainbow has found true love. This is amazing!"
Midnight had just fallen asleep again, which was good for Rainbow, because not even fifteen minutes later, she got a letter.
Dear Clima,
Young sister, Luna and I request a meeting with you in the royal quarters. Please make haste, we may have a problem on our hooves.
Your elder sister,
Celestia.
Rainbow sighed and quickly dropped her disguise. Standing instead of the pegasus mare, stood Clima, Princess of the Weather. Clima was gray, a little taller than Twilight, her wing tips were each color of the Rainbow, her hair was Rainbow as well, but it was put into a ponytail that was shaped like a lightning bolt with her Rainbow colored bangs covering her right eye. Her tail was the same color and shape as it was before the transformation. Clima looked herself over and, for the first time in a long time, preformed the teleportation spell.
Upon arriving in the meeting room, her two big sisters sat at the table in front of her,
"Hello sisters. To what do I owe this meeting?" Luna snorted at her formality,
"Drop the act young sister, thou needn't be so formal when in private." Clima smiled,
"Okay then, but seriously, what's going on?" Celestia sighed,
"Unfortunately, you may have blown your cover." Clima's jaw dropped,
"B-But how!? I took all of the necessary precautions-" Celestia motioned for her to stop,
"Yes, but your eyes have started acting like they used to, your illusion is starting to break. You need a formal coronation to introduce you to the world. It has been scheduled on the first day of winter. Please be there. Now, just so you know, we think that you may have found your true love. Nothing but that can break your illusion spells." Clima blushed,
"B-But the only pony that I've met recently was a changeling that acted much like Thorax. I've been taking care of him for the past few days, but-" Luna cut her off,
"It was only a hypothesis. Thou shall see Cadence when thy friends next go to visit her to see if our inference is true or not. Now we do believe that thou needs to rest. After all, we can't have the weather acting up again. Thou art dismissed." Clima nodded and teleported back home, she was slightly disappointed at the anticlimactic and short meeting. She had been expecting something like Discord being evil again. Oh well, it was best to follow her older sister's advice, so she dropped it and put her disguise back on.
Author's Note
Okay, so I suggest that you don't read the next chapter until it is edited, the story at this point won't make any sense if you do decide to read an unedited chapter.
Twilight had gathered all of the fellow Elements of Harmony to a meeting. This meeting could be considered formal, though that image was ruined by Pinkie's excitement and Applejack's slumped form, she seemed to be sleeping, though her face was blocked by her Stetson. Twilight walked in, being the picture of elegance as her tail swayed to and fro. She sat on her 'throne' and smiled at her friends,
"Thank all of you for showing up on this, rather odd, occasion." Pinkie was vibrating with excitement, she couldn't sit still,
"Of course Twilight! We wouldn't ever miss a meeting, not even if it meant skipping out on Super Duper Extra Chocolate Cherry Lemon Smoothies!" Rainbow gagged, as did Rarity, although Dash's eyes turned a dull shade of green to show her disgust.
"T-That sounds nice darling, but-" Pinkie smiled widely at her,
"I know right! It's delicious! I'll make you one later!" Twilight cleared her throat, seeing that this would most likely end in an unnecessary argument. She put on a strained smile and levitated Celestia's letter in her magenta magic.
"I have called you all here today to discuss something important-" once again, Pinkie interrupted,
"Ooh! Ooh! Is Equestria going to die! Is Chrysalis back with revenge! Is Sombra threatening war! Oh! Oh! Maybe Luna turned evil again! Or maybe-" Eyes turning orange, Rainbow, being slightly miffed at having to leave Midnight's side, also not wanting to extend the meeting, quickly stuffed a big fat cupcake into Pinkie's mouth. Twilight nodded to her in silent thanks,
"Okay, we are here to discuss the letter from Celestia that I received. This is about Dash, so I wanted to share it." Dash paled, eyes turning purple, Celestia wouldn't do that to her, she already said that she'd already probably blown her cover, Tia wouldn't dare expose her, right? What was the use of doing more than the damage already done? Twilight smiled, clearing her throat, she read the letter aloud,
"Dear Twilight,
I have reason to believe that certain things happen when a pony finds true love.
Your Princess,
Princess Celestia." Rarity giggled as she saw Rainbow Dash blush and her eyes turn to pink,
"Oh darling! You must tell us the stallion that you met! He must be a keeper!" Rainbow blushed even deeper, she stuttered a response, sounding quieter than Fluttershy,
"U-Um, h-his name is Midnight. He can't be my true love though, he can't." Twilight raised a brow and wrote something down, when she set down the quill, she saw Applejack smirking,
"Now, now Sugarcube, ya'll can't go denying the truth, can ya?" Rainbow blushed a cherry red color as she tried to come up with a good comeback, she soon remembered something from the letter, a small and almost insignificant detail. Rainbow smirked back at the cowgirl, eyes turning a confident green,
"Yeah, I can't, but who says it's the truth? Celestia did in fact say that she had only stated a worthy hypothesis, for all we know, it could just be a mutated gene." That shut every pony up, especially Twilight, she hadn't known that Rainbow could be so smart. Twilight smiled at the rainbow-maned pegasus, after scanning the letter to see that she was right,
"Well Rainbow, you wouldn't mind if we met him, now would you?" Rainbow sighed to herself, she was not getting out easy, luckily it had been long enough to take the changeling out of his casts. She looked at them, eyes returning to their normal magenta color,
"Sure. I'll bring him here at noon tomorrow. Forgive him if he seems clumsy, I've been slowly nursing him back to health, he broke quite a few bones." Rarity huffed, she had wanted to see the stallion that had caught her friend's eye as soon as possible, she needed to judge if he was worthy enough for Rainbow. She groaned,
"Fine. But no later. I will want to see this stallion, after all, he must be quite a pegasus to catch your eye." Rainbow blushed, she face hoofed herself, wondering how Rarity knew that Midnight had wings. She looked to the older mare (Rarity is in her early 30's whereas Rainbow is in her early 20's)
"How did you know that he was a pegasus?" Rarity smirked, preparing to blow the groups' mind with her knowledge,
"He is in your house, so he must be a pegasus or a powerful unicorn to preform the cloud walking spell. And he needs to be able to keep up with you, so you'd be less likely to chose somepony that cannot fly." After seeing Rainbow's shocked and rather uncomfortable expression, Rarity winked,
"I know the romantic interests of all my friends." Rainbow shrugged herself off, noting that she had weird stalker friends. She turned to the other mares and smiled brightly,
"Well, I've gotta go tell Midnight about everything. And don't follow me for a sneak peak. I want him to be a surprise!" With that, Rainbow quickly darted to her cloud home, clearly not wanting to waste precious time. They had a little under half a day to make Midnight a worthy disguise. He needed to be ready to meet her friends.

I DIDN'T MAKE THE 1000 WORD MARK!!!!
Alright, now if you read the next chapter, nothing will make any sense. DON'T READ NON-EDITED CHAPTERS!!!
Rainbow Dash flew into the cloud house at high speeds, barely able to stop herself as she skidded across the soft cloud, stopping centimeters away from a wall. She flapped her wings once and smiled, she loved close calls, they were so exciting. Quickly shaking her head, the pegasus mare darted up the stairs, not bothering to actually use the cloud staircase that was between the two floors of her house.
Once on the second floor, Rainbow made a beeline towards Midnights room. Upon reaching the room, she knocked twice and waited for an answer. She got one seconds later, quieter than she expected.
"R-Rainbow? Y-You know that you don't have to knock." Rainbow smiled to herself, she could practically feel Midnight's blushing through the door. Sighing, the cyan blue mare opened the cloud door. She smiled hesitantly at the stallion that was wrapped up in casts and on the bed,
"Hey, um, I'm going to take off your casts, it's been around 10 weeks, so you should be fine now. I'll be telling you something important after I finish doing that, okay?" Midnight tried to nod, forgetting the neck brace that blocked any head movement. The changeling sighed and blushed in embarrassment, he was making a fool of himself, just because of this one mare. Why was she so special, why did she share her love with him, knowing the possible consequences? Why did his heart skip a beat every time he saw her? Why did his heart ache when she was away? Why did his heart beat faster and his face turn a dark red when she touched him? Why was he in love with this mare, who undoubtedly would never feel the same? He forced tears back at the thought, she'd never love him back, not in the same way at least. This is why changelings don't love, so they don't suffer a broken heart.
"Y-Yeah, I got it." Rainbow noticed the tears building in his eyes and looked at him, concern evident in both her face and her now purple eyes. She took off his neck brace first, she put her hoof under his chin and lifted it, so now he was staring back at her, tears streaming down his black coat. She smiled, betraying the worry evident in her posture, her eyes and her voice, her beautiful voice.
"Midnight? Is everything alright? You can tell me what's wrong." He looked at the pegasus, he gave her a fake smile, it was so painfully fake that even a foal could see through it, then he broke down soaking his face and his neck. He couldn't bear it, he let the tears keep coming, he had held it in for far too long.
Rainbow, realizing the pain her friend is going through, quickly removed his casts and placed them on the ground. Once they were out of the way, she quickly and lightly climbed onto the bed and hugged the changeling, knowing that it should help. She rubbed circles on his back and tried to calm him, it wasn't working, he only sobbed more hysterically at her touch. Seeing that her method wasn't working, she tried another one, she sang a lullaby that her mother had sung to her.
(SONG IS NOT MINE!!!! IT'S CALLED "LYRA'S SONG" THIS IS THE ENGLISH VERSION)
Words are born into air
And quickly fade out in the wind
But they find their way inside you
Where they live on forevermore....
When the skies are dark and full of rain
Look inside you heart
Light, so warm and all aglow
Shining just like the sun
You can see just how much you've grown
How strong you are
Love will open up to you
And it starts from the day that you
First heard those words.....
Rainbow's soft singing had calmed the male in her arms, his sobbing having attenuated into a quiet sniffle. She soon spoke to break the unwanted and unneeded silence,
"Please Midnight.......I want to help." Midnight, knowing what he had to do, broke away from the hug and held Rainbow in front of him. The mare was surprised by the sudden movement, but she calmed herself as she looked into the swirling green vortexes that were Midnight's eyes. He sniffled at her, quickly losing courage, until the mare smiled sweetly at him, giving him some much needed encouragement,
"Go on." Midnight gave a deep breath and held Rainbow's hoof in his own.
"I-I know that you probably don't feel the same way. But I-I think that I've fallen for you. You took care of me. You shared your love, although I could always sense that you knew what the possible consequences were. I-I know that you probably don't feel the same way. But I thought that I'd tell you." The changeling's eyes were welling up with tears, he couldn't bear to see the look of pity or of disgust that might be on his crush's face, he felt her eyes on him, and he couldn't muster the courage to look back up at her.
Rainbow stared at his shaking form for a moment before realizing that she had loved him too, she wanted to smack herself for not realizing it sooner. Why would she blush when speaking of him if she didn't love him? Why would she care for a member of the species that almost destroyed Equestria twice, if she didn't love him? Why would she treat him as an equal from the start despite knowing nothing of him, if she didn't love him?
Reaching a decision seconds later, Rainbow Dash put her hoof under Midnight's chin again and lifted his head. Then, surprising the stallion, she smashed her lips against his. Pouring all of her feelings for him into this one kiss.
Midnight could feel the love seeping through her to him and back again into her. It was so intense, he was overflowing with love, yet it wasn't stolen. He cried happy tears, not breaking the kiss for more than half a minute, they savored the feeling. It felt right, it felt like destiny.
After breaking apart, Rainbow and Midnight both blushing, Rainbow's eyes had turned pink somewhere along the line. Rainbow smiled at the changeling in front of her. Midnight was overcome with fear again at the possibility that she just wanted to shut him up,
"D-Does this mean that you'll be my girlfriend?" The way that he had said it broke her heart, Rainbow nodded and pecked him on the cheek to prove it.
"I'd love to be your girlfriend." Rainbow nuzzled Midnight, who had suddenly remembered why she had come up here in the first place,
"You said that you needed to tell me something?" Rainbow frowned, knowing what he was talking about. She didn't want to make Midnight upset, but lying to him was just wrong. She sighed and cuddled into the changeling, he was warm and cuddly, which was surprising considering the race's similarity to bugs.
"Yeah. I talked with Celestia, and when I mentioned you, she sent Twilight a letter that only detailed that you were a male. My friends want to meet you, but considering that they don't trust any changelings, except Thorax, we need to make you a disguise." Midnight nuzzled his girlfriend back and responded,
"We'll figure it out..........I've been wondering something." Rainbow curled up in his lap and looked up, she noticed Midnight blush at her placement, but he didn't comment,
"Well, I've wondered where I'll be going now that I'm no longer hurt." Rainbow smiled at him, her eyes had turned purple and blue, not a good sign. She hugged his waist,
"You can stay here, or you can leave. It's your choice." But when Midnight looked into her eyes, he saw that she had already placed her bets on one of the choices, the one that he was most likely going to pick either way. He smiled and pecked her on the cheek.
"Is it alright if I stay? Not only will it save money, but I can help with chores and I can-" he was cut off by feeling a pair of lips on his own. He smiled internally and closed his eyes, kissing back.
This kiss was shorter, but no less passionate. When they broke apart a few seconds after, Rainbow smiled,
"I'll be happy to let you stay. Now, back to business." Midnight nodded,
"Yeah, disguise. When do I meet them?" Rainbow's ears dropped, eyes becoming purple once more
"Noon tomorrow. Can I call you Night?" Midnight chuckled at the random comment. He nodded, smirking,
"Only if I can call you Dashie?" Rainbow blushed at the girly, yet cute, nickname. She nodded, and hugged him again. Soon after, the two of them got off the bed,
"We need to find a suitable disguise quickly. Also, Rarity already figured out that you have wings, so it's probably best if you're a pegasus, or, if you really don't want wings, a unicorn." Night nodded and kissed his mare quickly, he hadn't expected this exuberant turn of events.
He was, and will always be, glad that he confessed, else he may not have had her as his own. If he had waited too much longer, another stallion could've swept her off her hooves. He looked down at his beautiful girlfriend, he wouldn't change this for the world, let's just hope that she didn't end up with foals too early.
Author's Note
Alright, Summer is almost here! Tomorrow is the last day of school! Thank god! Alright, so I really like this chapter, but the next chapter will make no sense if you read it after this one. Also, just so ya'll know, I revise and edit every chapter at least twice to tweak it to my liking. I hope that copyright doesn't strike because of the song, but oh well. Alright! Now, I usually go on sprees, so I usually edit 2-5 chapters in one chunk, but I usually take a long time to get into one of those editing sprees. I usually just get that feeling, the 'I wanna edit my stories because I hate them right now' feeling. Alright, I'll stop wasting your time, now remember-
DO NOT READ UNEDITED CHAPTERS!!! THE STORY WILL MAKE NO SENSE IF YOU DO THAT!!!
The same yet different (Edited)
Midnight stopped pacing around his room as an idea came to him. Quickly, the male changeling shifted into his new form. After analyzing every detail of the form he decided that, after a few tweaks, the form was ready for its presentation.
Quickly, Midnight shifted back into his changeling form and started walking downstairs. He was practically glowing with happiness and didn't notice that Rainbow's smell had gotten significantly stronger. He almost roundhouse kicked his girlfriend when she whispered,
"Found you." Right in his ear. He attempted to regulate both his breathing and his heartbeat, but apparently his heart was unwilling to cooperate today. Rainbow giggled at the look on Midnight's face, which showed fear, annoyance and pride. After Midnight had gotten over the initial scare, he smiled,
"Now that was a changeling worthy jump scare!" Rainbow grinned like a maniac, she enjoyed succeeding where Twilight couldn't, her eyes were glowing a bright yellow, with a tint of pink that only ever seemed to appear when she was around Midnight.
Midnight, after he had gotten over Rainbow's excessive cuteness, he remembered why he was looking for her in the first place. He quickly spoke up and got Rainbow's attention,
"Rainbow, I've found the perfect disguise! Wanna see it?" Rainbow snorted,
"Obviously I want to see it. Can I see it now so that I can see if there is anything that I would like changed?" Midnight nodded, completely missing the adorable puppy-eyed look that Rainbow had given him. After a second or two, Midnight became momentarily enveloped by a green vortex. After the green light had disappeared, what stood in front of Rainbow was definitely not Midnight Wonder.
Twilight sat down in her study, wondering what the stallion that Rainbow was bringing looked like, she had asked for all of the others to bring their significant others along. Currently, Comet was smiling at her, he had come as quickly as possible, wanting to know every single detail. Twilight admired her lover's thirst for knowledge, that is how she fell for him to begin with, but even that couldn't ease her mind. She was just bubbling to the brim with questions like 'What does he look like?' or 'Will he be nice?' Twilight was in a sour mood, she had never waited to answer any of her questions before, but this time, she had to wait until tomorrow.
Rarity was going through her wardrobe with Fancy Pants, she had come to the Boutique and couldn't help it, she was bubbling with excitement, she told Fancy everything. He had automatically decided to help her find a beautiful, but not too extravagant, dress for the next morning. They would be meeting at the castle about fifteen minutes before Dash and her mystery stallion were scheduled to arrive. They both couldn't wait to meet him, Rarity had never seen Dash look so bashful towards her friends.
Pinkie was bouncing around the room, Cheese had agreed to arrive early the next morning so that they could get ready, it was only 5:00, but Pinkie promised herself that she would wake up super duper early, so she would be going to sleep earlier than ever before, as much as she loathed doing it, she would be going to sleep at 7:00. But she needed to tire herself out somehow, so she was currently bouncing off the walls and hanging herself by the tail until she was exhausted enough to go to bed.
Fluttershy and her family were at the dinner table, discussing what they would do the next morning, luckily, Remedy was allowed to join her and Big Mac at the lunch. Neither of the females could wait to see who Rainbow Dash had fallen for. Big Mac was currently thinking about how he could test the stallion to see if he was worthy to be dating one of the Elements of Harmony.
Applejack was sitting at the dinner table with Granny Smith (How is she still alive), Applebloom and Flim. She was trying to gently let Applebloom and Granny Smith down, they'd have to meet Rainbow's Mystery Stallion at a later date. Flim however, was extremely curious, he wondered if the new stallion would like pranking, or inventing, or be at all interesting. While Flim knew that Rainbow hated boring people, he couldn't help but think that something was going to go wrong in the near future. If Flim had any say in it, it probably had something to do with the new guy, and he didn't like it one bit.
Spike and Ember would also be attending, Ember kept casually throwing in that she'd chop up the new stallion and feed him to the Timber-wolves if he decided to hurt anyone close to her. Spike was nervously trying to shove down the foreboding feeling that he kept getting, he knew that something was going to go wrong in the near future, but he sincerely hoped that it had nothing to do with the new stallion.
When Rainbow had gotten up, she had hastily gotten ready and, for the first time in a while, actually made an effort to make herself look tidy, without styling her hair or putting on dresses or putting on makeup, she was simply trying to bring out more of her natural beauty than she had done so before. She honestly didn't feel so good, she didn't feel sick, no not at all, but she had a bad feeling about something, and she knew that it was going to happen today.
Rainbow knew that she was being paranoid, so she tried to shove it down, and she succeeded for the most part. She heard Midnight washing himself up in the other bathroom and she smiled, she knew that her friends were going to approve of her new boyfriend.
Twilight grinned as her guests got settled down, no one could wait another second to see Rainbow's guest of honor, and luckily, no one had to, because at that moment, Rainbow walked in, she cleared her throat,
"I would like all of you to meet my boyfriend, Midnight Wonder." They were all silenced as a stallion walked in. He had a muscular build, but he wasn't overly buff, he had a dark blue coat, a black mane that had thin white streaks in it. The stallion was as Rarity predicted, a pegasus. He had a cutie mark that was a lightning bolt shaped constellation, leading the other ponies in the room to believe that Midnight's talent was finding and naming constellations, along with green eyes. No one could doubt that the stallion loved Rainbow dearly though, because the first thing he did was peck Rainbow on the cheek and lead her to her chair.
Immediately, Rarity started interrogating him,
"How old are you?" Midnight raised an eyebrow, but answered politely,
"24." Rarity nodded in approval before launching a series of questions,
"Favorite Color?"
"Blue."
"Favorite Food?"
"Chocolate."
"Favorite Hobby?"
"Flying."
"Favorite attribute of Rainbow?"
"Her eyes."
"Family Status?"
"Orphaned."
"Marital Status?"
"I've never been married."
"Are you a Virgin?"
"Yes."
"Favorite gemstone?"
"Blue tourmaline."
"Least Favorite color?"
"Green."
"Favorite Book?"
"Wonder."
"Grades in school?"
"Straight A's"
"Motive for being Rainbow's boyfriend?"
"She has a wonderful personality, she's beautiful, she's smart and she proved herself to be a worthy partner when she saved me from certain death."
"Would you like to tell us that story?"
"Some information is better left secret."
"Got a backbone now? Well, would you ever leave Rainbow if you argued?" Midnight seemed offended by the very thought,
"Of course not! She not only saved my life, but she's never given me any reason to leave her, especially not after some petty argument!" Rarity smirked in approval,
"Thoughts on children?"
"I'd love to have one or two, but not until I can afford one and efficiently care for one." Rainbow was tempted to stop Rarity's question spree, but it was allowing her to know more about Midnight, so she let it continue.

Okay, finally done. I am only doing this one chapter because I really don't want to write this right now. As always:
DON'T READ UNEDITED CHAPTERS!!!
