You're not that good

Spitfire cursed under her breath. She clutched the gun in her hands tightly as she hovered above the battle. How could one pony mare take out her whole team? Well, to be honest, it was a unicorn. Spitfire flew lower trying to use the stacked crate to stay hidden by the rather sparse cover. It had started out fun enough though, but now it was torture. She heard it all over the radio as each of her team mates fell one by one.

Her ears twitched, while she glanced around. Then, she heard the soft voice coming from behind her say, "Over here, Fire flank." Spitfire spun just in time to feel the impact as something thumped into her chest, and almost immediately after another to her helmet. Her vision was instantly blurred, and she fell backwards to the ground. The impact had left her reeling and gasping for breath. This was it. It was game over now. Spitfire could hear the slow measured steps coming closer as she thought back to how she ended up on her back now.

"Yeah! Now that's what I'm talking about!" Dash exclaimed as she pumped a fist in the air. "We're too awesome to lose!" Spitfire chuckled at Rainbow's claim. Spitfire was about to chide Dash jokingly when the gray unicorn in the shadows had stepped out into the open.

The mare spoke in a soft voice that was cool and even as she said, "You're not that good. You are too reckless."

Spitfire agreed but how dare this unicorn point out such flaws. Her pride was now on the line as she rushed to her team mate's aid. "I don't see you doing any better!"

The gray mare raised an eyebrow above the red goggles that hid her eyes. "I take it you think you and your team can beat me?"

"You bet your ass we can!" Spitfire knew she'd regret saying it even as the words left her mouth. She'd already gone to far to turn back now. She waited for the reply hoping the mare wouldn't call her bluff.

"I see. I suppose if you bet yours then I accept your challenge." The unicorn had called her bet.

"Deal!" Now she was committed. 'Fuck!' She thought to herself knowing she couldn't back down now. Not with her team all watching. Dash herself was brash enough to take the challenge regardless. This was how it had begun and it was fun at first then the terror started as Soarin was the first to fall then the cocky Rainbow Dash. It had continued like that with longer pauses between until it was jut her and the unicorn left.

Spitfire's thoughts were jerked back to the present as the metallic clicks of the mare's steps stopped next to her. She felt a light pressure on her stomach from the hand resting on it. "Are you alright?" It was that soft almost motherly yet cool voice. "You landed rather hard. Do you feel any pain?" Spitfire frowned as she felt the unicorn working her helmet off.

Her vision cleared as the paint splattered helmet was pulled off. "I'm fine," coughed Spitfire. She had started to sit up only to have a surprisingly strong hand hold her down. Then the Pegasus noticed the gleam of metal. "You're a robot!"

The unicorn shook her head. "The proper term is cyborg. Now lie still" The metal never moved but a soft silver glow could be seen. After a few tense moments the mare stood up. "You seem unharmed. That's good." The gray mare leaned over offering Spitfire one of the metal hands. "Good game. Just not good enough, but you will be." Spitfire opened her mouth about to make some retort when she was cut off. "But for now we had a bet. You lost so that means you're cute flanks are mine for now." Spitfire blinked as she heard the unicorn's statement closing her mouth only to mutter under breath about her ego and pride. "Oh come on. It's not that bad. Call me Sparky." The unicorn had rolled her eyes judging by how she moved her head before smiling at Spitfire.

The two heard in the distance a very annoyed cyan mare yelling about how she'd been eliminated in seconds. Spitfire chuckled, "So Sparky how'd you do it?" Sparky merely shook her head lifting her goggles to wink back. Spitfire now saw why she couldn't see the other's eyes. The red lenses matched the color of Sparky's eyes.

Sparky smirked as Spitfire's jaw dropped. "What's wrong? Do you think I'm a demon now?" The unicorn waited a few long silent seconds before walking away resting her paintball gun on her shoulder. "You coming or do you think you can beat me in a second round?" The unicorn didn't even look back as she spoke. Spitfire's eyes drifted down to Sparky's rounded rear. The sway of the gray mare's hips was almost hypnotizing and the Pegasus found herself following Sparkle. She barely heard the other Wonderbolts muttering behind them Spitfire's attention was locked on the unicorn who had just taken on her whole team alone and beat them.

Rainbow watched the unicorn and Spitfire waking away when she felt a hand on her shoulder. "Let it go Rainbow. Let's get some pie, showered and sleep. Spitty is a grown mare. Let her make her own choices." Dash sighed then looked at Soarin before nodding. Dash tuned and followed the rest of the Wonderbolts as they headed towards the diner. She cast a final glance at the receding pair of mares and thought she'd seen the unicorn wink at her before going around a corner.
