The Maniac and Golden Harvest's First Date?
The Master had decided to let the Maniac catch up with an old friend named Golden Harvest after she came back from an incident they once had on their second encounter. Golden wasn’t quite pleased with the Maniac’s return, since he was evilly flirting with her while being threatening. She didn’t know much about the Maniac so it was decided that it was best to know him better. What she didn’t know was that they were being taken to a fancy restaurant; to her it was like they were on their first date. This was scary for her because she was going out with an evil psychopath that had been brainwashed by the Master and she wondered if her feelings for the Maniac were still there.
“Ah, here we are. This is the place.” Said the Maniac who seemed pleased. Golden’s eyes widened at the sight of the restaurant, she knew they were in Canterlot but she didn’t know they were dining at where they were now.
“But this is…you’re taking me out to Canterlot Cafe?! Oh my gosh this is the best restaurant ever! I’ve been here a few times, but I’d never thought that I’d be here with you.” Shouted Golden Harvest excitedly. She blushed and rubbed her neck with her forehoof, “Even if you are…well, different…” she muttered nervously; but the words got to the Maniac.
His eyes widened curiously at Golden Harvest.
“And what does that supposed to mean?” He asked with a firm eyebrow raised.
“N-Nothing!” Shouted Golden as she then chuckled nervously. She looked at the opened door into the restaurant.
“Let’s get something to eat.” She said. The Maniac nodded in response and they headed into the restaurant. The ponies stared at the newcomers in the restaurant, as some got to their tables they hid under them. They were obviously scared of the Maniac’s appearance. For one, he has chains on all four hooves. He has a chain on his neck with four grey dots and he has a scar on his left eye with a displeased look on his face. He groaned disappointingly as he noticed the cowardly faces, but Golden reassured him as she rested her forehoof on his shoulder and smiled. She would be there for him no matter who disliked his appearance; at least not everyone in the restaurant noticed the two awkward pairing as they seemed to be chatting carefree. The Maniac smiled but as soon as he found out they were the first two in line he saw the cash register who looked nervous.
“A-and what can I do for you two?” He asked as he started to shiver. The Maniac looked at the blackboard that was on the ceiling for a moment, and then he looked down to the cash register with a genuine smile. “I would like one pancake please, with an orange juice.” He requested. “Would you like ice with that juice?” The cash register asked as he seemed to be calm. The Maniac nodded. “Yes please.” He said. The cash register managed a smile as he turned to Golden. “And what would you like, young mare?” He asked nicely. “I would like a daffodil sandwich with an orange juice and some ice with that drink too.” She requested. “Since you two are together, which one of you are paying?” Asked the cashier. The Maniac lifted his forehoof as he was about to speak, but instead he was gently shoved by Golden’s forehoof. “I’ll pay.” She said as she made a harsh glare at the Maniac. “Right. That’ll be 20 bits altogether for both of your meals, Miss.” The cash register requested. Golden Harvest nodded and tossed the amount of said bits to him. He put the coins in the cash register and shoved the draw in from his side of the counter.
“Please take a number stand from the counter, over there.” The cash register said as he pointed across the counter next to him. The Maniac and Golden Harvest looked to see a row of number stands. “Thank you.” Said Golden Harvest.
The two went across the counter for Golden to grab a number stand and they exited the restaurant to find a seat outside where they won’t get conflict from hundreds of ponies. “Have a nice day!” The cashier shouted at the two joyfully. The Maniac and Golden Harvest wave at him and they were gone. “You didn’t have to pay for us, Goldie. I, I-could’ve-” stumbled the Maniac nervously. “Come on, I don’t want you paying someone stolen bits! Besides I own you for taking me here.” Yelled Golden Harvest stubbornly. The Maniac groaned. “Fine, you have a point. Thanks. Perhaps I’ll never be able to pay someone genially without them knowing I’m some captured criminal, huh?” The Maniac asked as if mocking he was himself. “At least your heart was in the right place.” Complemented Golden with a warm smile; the Maniac returned it to her. “You’re right.” He admitted. They took a seat on either side of some mushroom table. They were both nervous on what this day was going to be like.
“So, how is Derpy?” Asked the Maniac. Golden nodded. “She’s doing well, although she’s a little tired of me daydreaming to go travelling with you. This is nice, but I was expecting something a little more…exquisite; you know? After our first meeting and everything…but this is the best restaurant in Equestria, and I would have never expected to be here with you today. Thank you.” Said Golden Harvest. The Maniac nodded and he pulled a little smirk. “You’re welcome.” He told her. Some minutes have passed and they talked like they never had before. Finally their meals and their drinks have arrived along with some straws in the respective cups and some cutlery was placed on either side of the Maniac’s plate. On it was a pancake with poured maple syrup over it and a slob of butter being poured over it as well. He sniffed the steam coming from the pancake delightfully and he could smell the flavour of the pancake’s contents. He looked at Golden Harvest who took a bite of the daffodil sandwich. He was confused as to why ponies were selling such a food item.
“Why do ponies sell daffodil in sandwiches? Isn’t that poisonous to ponies?” He asked Golden confusingly. Golden stared at him as if she went blank. “Uhh…nooo….” She responded awkwardly after she swallowed a piece of her sandwich. “Funny, I thought all horses were allergic to daffodils.” He said to himself as he looked down at his pancake. He decided to take a knife and folk in each forehoof to cut the pancake and have a few bites of it. Golden rolled her eyes. “Ooh, I get it. It’s a thing where you come from, isn’t it? It’s not like I know you’re not a native here or anything!” She said sarcastically. The Maniac swallowed the last bite of his pancake and took a sip from the straw of his orange juice, then after swallowing the liquid he took a glance at Golden. He didn’t notice her talking to him though while he was eating his breakfast. “I know I am not supposed to bring up your past, but I was curious as to what adventures you and Lyra went on. I wish to hear some stories.” She said. The Maniac stared angrily at her as Golden was growing nervous, but she looked really desperate. “Please, Maniac? For once? Then you won’t have to tell me ever again. I promise I won’t tell anyone, especially Derpy.” She begged. The Maniac sighed. “Fine, but it’s only for you and no one else. Are we clear?” He asked Golden. She nodded. “Absolutely. We’ll try to ignore the ponies around us, right?” She sated. The Maniac looked around the dining tables outside to see the tables were full of customers, but they didn’t seem to mind him even if the foals gave him one stare and went back to playing with their family members their age. There was music from inside the restaurant and it was a bit loud enough for the ponies not to notice them talking.
“Alright. You asked for it. Well, it happened a long time ago before I was captured by the Master, obviously…” he begins.
After telling some stories and their meals were finished, the Maniac didn’t notice the tears coming down from his eyes. Golden Harvest felt a little ashamed at first but she was glad to get to know what he’s done to save Equestria. “I’m sorry.” She said. The Maniac shook his head. “No, you deserved what you needed to know. This was the first time we got to talk to each other like this.” He admitted. “Well, why don’t I tell you something about me?” She offered. The Maniac nodded at her request. “Well, what have you’ve been up to? Anything exciting?” He asked his outing partner. Golden shrugged. "Nothing much, Ponyville has been getting monster attacks but we get that often. We’re used to repairing our town.” She admitted. The Maniac widened his eyes shocked about this. “And…do you get anypony to stop the monsters? What about the hard work you do to grow your carrots? Do they get destroyed often?” He asked concerned. He was concerned about why Golden would have such a dream about growing carrots when Ponyville has all sorts of catastrophes even if his enemies used to lurk about in town to find him.
“Oh, don’t worry. I’m used to growing carrots every week seeing them destroyed by the end of it. But eventually I get some.” She said calmly. “Things don’t turn out well, but there are some miracles.” She added. The Maniac looked down on the plate ashamed. “I’m sorry…” He muttered. Golden put her forehoof on the Maniac’s. His eyes sparkled in her eyes. “It’s alright, I know you hate saving the universe now. It does get tiring, I understand.” She admitted. The Maniac smiled and looked up to the sun, he knew that it was about late in the morning and the Master was waiting. He turned to face Golden. “Well, should the Master and I drop you off then? It’s nearly noon and the Master’s been waiting. He must be bored to death by now.” He said. Golden smiled. “As long as there aren’t any monster attacks in Ponyville, then sure.” She giggled. The Maniac laughed, but it wasn’t a wicked one. “Then let’s drop you home.” He said kindly. Golden nodded and she got out of her chair. The Maniac offered to help her off her seat as if she was stepping off a carriage. They walked off into a dark alley together where the Master’s TARDIS would be standing. The End.
