//-------------------------------------------------------// The Preacher of Ponyville -by Taoist_Pony- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Prologue //-------------------------------------------------------// Prologue There was once a 14 year old boy named Matt Williams.  He was a normal kid with a normal household, a normal neighborhood, a normal school and normal dreams.  One day in the summer, Matt's parents decided that they should move.  Matt was very sad about their decision.  "Why do we have to move?!  I love this neighborhood!  I have lot's of friends, a good house, we aren't poor, your jobs are paying well, so why?!?!  Because your father and I have decided that you need to get in the habit of making some friends", said Matt's mother.  "But I DO have friends!!!", said Matt.  "When was the last time you met someone new?", his father asked.  "A few years", Matt sighed.  "Exactly why we need to move!", said his mother.  "Plus I heard that opening up a new water park in Sacramento."  "Wait, WHAT?!?!", Matt yelled.  "We're moving to California?!"  "That's right sweetie", his mother said.  "Hmm", Matt said.  "Maybe it'll be fun after all. After a week of packing and planning, the family got into the van with their luggage and started the long drive from Ohio to California.  During the drive, Matt was both excited and nervous.  What if there are bullies there, he thought.  No, most kid are nice besides, it's a whole new part of the country, I'm sure there's bound to be SOME nice kids, right? Once their 2 day trip was over they finally pulled into the driveway, and started unpacking.  "Woah!", Matt said as he looked up at their new home.  It was a 3 story, which pretty much crushed the 1 story they had back in Ohio.  "I'll go check out the house", Matt said, as he raced over to to door to look at the interior of his new home. Once he was done inspecting the house, he went downstairs to help his parents unload the van.  "Isn't this a great house mom?", Matt said as he carried one end of a box.  "Yes Matt I think it's just wonderful, don't you Jeff?"  "Yea", said Matt's father, "it's totally perfect for us to settle down in and relax."  "Matt, why don't you go out and make some new friends", said Matt's mother.  "Sure", said Matt as he set down the box they were carrying.  "Alright, have fun!", Matt's mother said as he ran out the door and into the street. Matt ran around a corner and saw lots of kids playing at a park, some younger, and some older than him, for obvious reasons.  Then he found a kid who looked like he was around his age, he went up to him.  "Hey, how's it going", Matt said.  "Hey, I haven't seen you around, you new?", the kid asked.  "Well, I'm Matt, and yea, I just moved in literally a few hours ago."  "Cool, my name's Toby nice to meet you Matt."  The two talked for a while until Toby had to go so Matt said bye as he left.  Matt hung around for a few more hours until he was the last kid there.  He then got off the swing and went home.  By that time it was dark and Matt could hardly see a thing, so he turned the flashlight on his phone on. He made his way around, but it all seemed like one big circle. Just then he saw a light which he was sure wasn't from his phone.  He turned it off, and sure enough it was still there.  He turned a corner and almost had a heart attack right there!  In front of him was a portal; about 5ft by 5ft, but still somehow circular.  He touched it, and it wiggled, almost in a cartoony sort of way.  Eventually, his curiosity got the better of him; he went in. //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter One //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter One Matt woke up with start.  "Woah!", he said.  "I just had the weirdest dream!"  He looked around expecting to see a bedroom in Sacremento, California, but all he saw was darkness.  At first he thought that it was a dream inside another dream, but as he stood up, he realized that he wasn't in a dream at all; nor was he in his bedroom.  Where the hell am I, he thought.  He felt grass under his feet.  He could barely make out trees; trees that were all around him.  "Okay, I'm either dead or in hell", he said. Just then, he heard a noise behind him.  It was a low growling noise.  It soon turned into multiple growling noises.  All of the sudden, a wolf sprang out from the brush to the right of him. The first thing he noticed about the wolf was that it had no fur, but bark, like on a tree.  The second thing was that it was circling him slowly.  Just then, another wolf came out of the brush to the left of him.  Then he realized that he was being set up; if he went out of the brush to escape, there would almost definitely be more wolves outside the brush waiting for him.  He figured that he was going to probably die either way, and going out fighting was a better way to die. He sprinted out of the brush and sure enough there were a lot more wolves outside than inside.  But now was NOT the time for observation.  He jumped over about four or five wolves before landing near an old-looking...castle?  He didn't have time to know or care though.  He raced to the castle and ran inside, slamming the door behind him. He heard the wolves run past it, like the bad guys would in a cartoon.  Then, once they were all gone, he slumped down, and cried.  He hadn't cried like this in years.  Sure he was 14, but that doesn't mean that people don't break down from time to time.  He cried until he could cry no more, and only animalistic sound were coming out of his mouth.  He then fell asleep, listening  to the sounds of crickets chirping. In the morning, Matt woke up, and sadly remembered the recent events that had brought him to this place.  He just wanted to go home.  Just then he heard a voice.  It was definitely a female, because  the feminine tone in the voice.  He didn't know wether to hide or to go out a look, so he decided to be neutral and stay put.  As the voices got louder, he could make out the voices better.  "...But Twilight, do we REALLY have to come all the out here into the Everfree forest, JUST to look for some stupid ancient scroll that is probably dust by now?" "Yes rainbow, we do, and we do because Princess Celesta ORDERED us to!"  The voices were as clear as day to Matt.  They were both definitely female but one was light and feminine, while the other was rough and kinda scratchy.  The second voice reminded him of the tomboys in TV shows that he used to watch.  Just then the voices were somehow getting even closer.  He though back about his option of running, which was CLEARLY out the window by now.  So he just huddled himself into a dark corner of the room he was in, hoping the the things who were outside would just not notice him if they went inside. His hopes were dashed when the door the castle-thing opened and two figures stepped inside.  At first it was hard to see they were, considering the relative darkness of the room.  But then the figures stepped in to the middle of the room, and directly into a beam of sunlight; they were ponies. At first Matt couldn't believe what he was seeing.  He rubbed and poked at his eyes, but they were fine.  What wasn't fine was the fact that two multi-colored ponies stepped into a room, somehow opening and closing a sore AND having the ability to talk!  "I don't see anything special about this room, let's move to the next room and see if there's anything in there." Matt couldn't believe it; talking ponies!  Not to mention the fact that they resembled human with their hair-styles, or that they had oversized eyes and tattoos on their flanks OR that one of them was a unicorn, and the other a pegasus.  He knew it was a bad idea, but the followed them into the next room.  He stayed in the shadows, or, he THOUGHT he did.  "Hey what's that?"  The rainbow one asked.  Matt froze, and looked down.  He was horrified to see that one of his red sneakers was sticking out.  In fear, left it there, hoping that they'd just go on and forget about it.  They didn't. "I don't know Dash, should we even touch it?", said the purple one.  "Oh come on, it's probably just a boring artifact."  Rainbow, it's too new, to be an artifact."  "Okay then, I'll touch it."  Then the rainbow one reached out with a hoof, and poked it.  Matt jumped back in shock.  "Woah it moves!", the pegasus exclaimed.  Then Matt had only one option left; run.  But he couldn't for he was frozen in fear.  Then the pony leaned closer and held a hoof out.  Matt just stood there.  The pony reached for something, anything, then that something was found; Matt's shirt.  "What's this?", she asked no one in particular. She then pulled on it, and Matt stumbled out of the darkness.  Both ponies were in complete shock at what they were seeing.  "Um, hi...."
