The Mage

You were a Pegasus born and raised away from your homeland, the homeland of your kin, in the town of Buckston. There, it was your duty to maintain weather when earth ponies could not. It was a dreary existence, but a paying one.

You *used** to have that job.*

When war broke out in Equestria,  your home town was destroyed by the gryphons and the traitors who had leaked the information of your towns defenses, or lack there of. Your family was slaughtered, yet you escaped, to hide in the wilderness for the rest of your life.

You would much rather had chosen to stay in the town forever in your drudging work than your self-imposed exile.

But then there was a light. A rainbow-maned Pegasus by the name of Rainbow Dash, the Element Of Loyalty herself, discovered a fantastic way for Weather team Pegasi to  earn their revenge.

She coined the term *Lightning Caller, the bringers of **Storm, Fire, and Death upon the gryphons who so mean-spiritedly took their freedom.*

It was Rainbow Dash who called you, as well as others to Ponyville, to learn techniques involving the use of clouds: how to make lighting go in a certain direction, as well as how to shift regular clouds  into *lightning clouds*.  You were even taught to be able to use Pegasi abilities from a distance, with the aid of a magic staff. A single Lightning caller could coat a battle field entirely in a sun concealing veil, before scorching it to ash...

Those weren't even the true extent of the powers of Rainbow Dash herself, who had learned to draw moisture to create her own clouds...

It was ultimately these powers, these Lighting Callers,  that saved Cloudsdale, and kept raiders at bay as Ponyville constructed walls of defense. To say it won the war is an overstatement, but it certainly saved many major cities.

Now back to you. After the war, the Callers disbanded, and many even turned to crime. They were both to be feared, and respected by common folk. Most of those that turned to crime were executed upon capture, and so far, only 20 callers remain that are documented as alive, including the Element of Loyalty, and 4 wanted criminals.

Lightning Caller was a label, a feared and hated one to you, and you separated yourself from it as much as possible. Until now. You don't know what triggered it, but you felt a call to adventure. You wanted to restore the good name to the callers, and kill those who soiled it. You would help other ponies with their problems. This is where your story begins. A cry for help, a job posting on the bulletin, to rescue a lost foal. Where shall you go first, hero?
