Dear Princess Celestia
Pinkie's having another party again, although it is very ill timed since I was about to get to studying. I'm really looking forward to this upcoming test, I'm so excited that I nearly knocked over the pile of books I've so neatly stacked. Phew, that was a close one! Anyways, I was planning on organising a little get together, me and you, mainly to talk about books from your castle. I'm too busy studying to go up there myself and pick out a few, but hopefully you'll get this letter and help me out a little. It is a mentors job to hep their student after all. Oops, sorry if I came off as disrespectful, I'm just excited to get some of the books from your castle, they seem interesting, and they would definitely benefit my studies. After the party, maybe you could turn up at the library, and we could maybe just...well, chat?
It would be nice of you to turn up tonight, at around 8:00 if possible?
Your faithful student, Twilight Sparkle
Dear Princess Celestia
Oh, I see you didn't turn up. That's alright, you're probably very busy nowadays with being a Princess and all that. I understand, but I'm a little crestfallen. Oh well, I can always arrange another date when you're not so busy. Anyways, I enjoyed the party, and when I got back you'll be glad to know I got right into studying for the upcoming test. I'm just so excited! I'm hoping I'll get a fairly good grade. I've been digging out a few books from the shelves, and I've added them to my pile. I've got a lot of things to pull through here, but this is where I'm in my element.
I should honestly know better than to arrange meaningless appointments when youre so busy. I can't expect it to be like old times when I used to cuddle up to you and read when I was a filly, I'm a grown up mare now and I can handle it. Cancel the appointment, I'll just use the books I have here.
You may be interested to know that I've started digging up old books form the library. They're really dusty, though, and most of them are in really bad condition. I mean that a few of them are ripped in places, or have water or some other substance like tea spilled on them. Oh well, I'll just read the few that are intelligible, since a few of them seem to be very interesting books on magic and such. I'll send you another letter when I uncover them, since I think a few of them may have swapped covers. The last owner of this library must have been terrible at keeping this place in shape, huh?
Your faithful student, Twilight Sparkle.
Dear Princess Celestia
I was right, a lot of the covers are swapped. Just great. Well, what did I expect from a bunch of books that are probably years old found at the back of the shelves, am I right? Anyways, I have something that you might want to hear of. I found a book. Not just any book, but one of the rare year old books about Equestria's creatures. You should have seen the look on my face. I practically screamed in excitement. Spike was confused, well ,anypony would be if they heard me scream that loudly over a book. Heh. I haven't lost it yet.
Anyways, this book I found was in pretty decent condition, and was rich with information on Equestria's creatures, although there is something concerning. A single page has been ripped out of his book, and the paper left on the book from where it was ripped out is nearly covered with ink. I wondered how old that ink stain is, 20 years or so, maybe? I think I'll search for that missing page, since I really am curious about it. What creature was on that page?
Your curious student, Twilight Sparkle
Dear Princess Celestia
I've searched the library and still no sign of that page. I'm not one for giving up though, I've Organized a plan. Study for 10 minutes each morning, take a break to find that page, study for another 10 minutes, eat and then spend the rest of the day searching for the page. Rest assured I'll find that missing page, just to see what creature is on it.
Your even more curious student, Twilight Sparkle
Dear Princess Celestia
Still searching for that stupid page, and it's annoying me. I've started spending less time studying, more time looking. Yes, I know, I'm sorry, I need to study because this test is important. I'm really sorry, but hear me out. It's like that page is..calling to me. I know that sounds weird and stupid, but listen, I can hear that page calling my name. Twiliiiight, come find us Twiliiiiiight~
Sorry if I sounded a little cuckoo there, I'm just really focused on finding that page. And I think I finally know the perfect place to look for it! The library basement, even though I hate it down there...oh well, I'll do what it takes to find that missing page. Maybe I should glue it back into the book after finding and reading it.
Your slightly annoyed student, Twilight Sparkle
Dear Princess Celestia
You have no idea how happy I am! Oops, sorry, got a little bit carried away there. I opened that dusty old trap door and headed down into the darkness, and wouldn't you know it, the page was buried under some old box. I tried to open this weird padlocked box, but it wouldn't budge, and I couldn't find the key. Ugh, I guess that's another thing to focus on after I read this. Brilliant.
If you couldn't tell, that last part was sarcasm. Sorry.
Anyways, I read it, and it..disturbed me, to say the least. It was about some creature called a "Oncoming Nightmare" or something among those lines. The image of it scarred me. It was some sort of...frog thing, with..big fangs and long black tentacles. Or maybe it was a bird instead of a frog. It was difficult to tell, since the ink was all smudged. But from what I can gather from the page, I found this. Sorry if it's smudged in some places, I've left blanks where all the unrecognisable words are.
"Oncoming Nightmares are a creature thought to be created in ------ , possibly created in the fires of ------ itself. Not many ------ of the ------ have been made but it is said to drain the fluids from ones body and take their shape. The fluid they drain includes blood and liquid from the eyeballs, and they proceed to ------. "
I couldn't make out the rest of it, but I've never seen a beast like this before. It sounds horrible, good thing these are probably extinct...Right?
Your disturbed student, Twilight Sparkle
Dear Princess Celestia
I swear, I'm gonna get to studying soon, but I've become fascinated with this creature. Maybe I know too much, even from that small paragraph of information. Still, there's plenty of ponies - or zebras- that I can ask. That's right, instead of studying, I'm afraid I'm going to have a chat with Zecora about the creature. I'll bring the page with me.
Your apologetic student, Twilight Sparkle
Dear Princess Celestia
I'm surprised, Zecora knew absolutely nothing other than that they were carnivores. I was quite disappointed, to be perfectly honest. Anyways, I headed home, with no satisfying results. There's gotta be some kind of book in this whole library that can tell me more about them. Guess I'll have to postpone studying again.
Oops, sorry.
Your curious student, Twilight Sparkle
Dear Princess Celestia
I think I've gotten a cold. Which is weird, since there haven't been much ponies to pass it on to me. Zecora was fine, and so was Spike and my friends. An unexplainable cold, just to add to my problems. And I can't get within a foot of my study pile without sneezing all over it, so I'll just stay tucked up in bed right now with a supply of tissues. It seems like everything is preventing me from studying. Before I got this stupid cold managed to glue that page back into the book. While I've been here cooped up in bed I've been contemplating about that "Oncoming Nightmare " page, and I'm still creeped out by it. I just..I dunno, even writing this is making me feel really sick for some reason.
Your constantly sneezing student, Twilight Sparkle
Dear Princess Celestia
Ugh, this cold isn't even a cold anymore. I think it's a full fledged virus, or a really bad sickness. Either way, I've been vomiting a lot. Sorry, that was too much information, I'm just trying to be informative. At this rate I'll never get studying for that test finished, and I was getting so close. Ugh! How frustrating!
Anyways, I'm hoping to get rid of this sickness soon, but other than staying in bed and reading a little to make me feel better, writing letters to you is my only pastime, so expect a lot of letters!
No, it won't just be constant updates of how I'm feeling, it'll just be about my thoughts.
Maybe you'd like to hear more about my chat with Zecora?
Yeah, let's talk about that.
So I traveled to her home in the Everfree Forest and showed her the page on Oncoming a nightmares. She didn't know a single thing about them, other than they were carnivores, and that was it, like I said earlier. I was surprised, and I have a reason to since she lives in the everfree forest, where you can find the roughest, most terrifying creatures like Timber wolves and such. I remember when Spike and Applejack dealed with them. Speaking of Applejack, maybe I should make her write more letters to you, I'm sure you'd love that! She is a very interesting pony, after all.
Oh, sorry! I've gone off course. I think I'm just drifting from topic to topic due to my sickness. I'll write to you later, maybe when I'm feeling better
Your sick student, Twilight Sparkle
Dear Princess Celestia
Me again. I'm sure you're getting really annoyed by these. Sorry, I just need to get my thoughts out onto paper. I don't mean to worry you but my condition is worsening. I went to the doctors office today, the results weren't good. They couldn't even tell what disease it was. Wow, unknown disease. If this was somepony else you would have been able to count on me to be writing about it and studying the disease. I'm getting weaker, so I'm in no position to study, or even move around. It got even more concerning since I can't even summon up the strength to walk. I really hope I'll get better soon.
Your REALLY sick student, Twilight Sparkle
Dear Princess Celestia
Ouch, I've got the worst stomach ache right now. In fact, my whole body is aching. Although, I am getting a little more fit...I think. Applejack and Rainbow helped to move my bed to the window, since I wanted to see out of it for something to do while in bed. Other than writing to you, of course. I promise the minute I'm better I'll get back to studying. Although, this next to the window thing benefits me, since im quite amused for now of the ponies walking around outside. It's something to do, at least.
Your amused student, Twilight Sparkle
Dear Princess Celestia
Oh no, oh no, oh no, oh no, oh no.....
Sorry, it's just, I'm really alarmed. Today I saw what appeared to be me standing outside the window. I think I might be crazy? AM I CRAZY?!?
Sorry, I'm just really afraid. I swear it wasn't a reflection, it was an exact lookalike of me, standing there smiling up at me. It had this look in its eyes, I can't describe it. Am I dreaming?
Your terrified student, Twilight Sparkle
Dear Princess Celestia
My friends don't believe me, nobody believes me, even Spike doesn't believe me, I'm lost, IM LOST
You believe me, right, Princess? Do you believe me?
I'm in hysterics right now, Im constantly crying, I'm pretty sure I've stained my face, I can practically feel my mental state worsening. I'm snapping. Slowly, slowly but surely I'm breaking, like a little chick breaking the egg with its egg tooth. I keep seeing..well...ME.
Whatever it is wants inside, and it almost got in, but Spike returned from the markets and it just disappeared. I told him about it and he just shook his head. He thinks I'm crazy...
IM NOT CRAZY
Your panicked student, Twilight Sparkle
Dear Princess Celestia
I feel strange. Like I've got some sort of...Craving. I don't know what it is yet, but Spike is really annoying me with this whole not believing me thing. I feel like I want to...do something about it. I see myself outside, but I think the other me has gotten inside now. It often flickers just out of my vision. I can feel my strength returning though, and that's a good thing. Maybe I can get to you and you could help.
Well, I don't know, you've been pretty darn insensitive lately.
I'm sorry, Princess, I'm just agitated that no one believes me. You know that feeling when no one believes you when you're telling the truth? Yeah, it's that annoying feeling. I hate it.
I've dropped the studying thing. But for some strange reason, I've picked up a fascination with blood of all things. I think it's just a minor thing, though.
Your feeling better student, Twilight Sparkle
Dear Princess Celestia
Spike looks surprisingly vulnerable, I've noticed.
Your observant student, Twilight Sparkle
Dear Princess Celestia
I've had enough of him. He goes on about how I need help and such.
And he's nothing but a troublesome traitor. He had the nerve to tell my friends I was in a bad mental state
and how he was thinking about getting me some help, and they all agreed with him. He's a traitor, they're all traitors. Oh well, I don't need friends, I have my own mind, and my pen and paper. I'm surprised Spike is even sending letters now. I've learned a few spells about sending you letters, and performed it, that's actually how I sent that last letter. So I told him he was fired. The stupid dragon didn't get it at first, but he certainly got it when I told him he was a traitor and I hated him. He burst into tears, which was hilarious, and begged me to keep him. He was annoying me with all that sobbing.
That's why I killed him.
Your proud student, Twilight Sparkle
Dear Princess Celestia
Oh no, what have I done? I've just murdered Spike, why did I have to go and do that?
I'm sorry, Im a monster, I don't deserve to live on his planet, I wish you would just hang me already, please spare me the guilt.
Your regretful student, Twilight Sparkle
Dear Princess Celestia
Sorry about that last letter, I was crying a lot, I kind of just...ugh. but I'm all better now. After wiping my tears I began to write this. Yes, I did indeed kill Spike, which was horrendous of me, but I got this satisfying feeling from it. I kinda want more.
Yeah, I want to kill more ponies. I thought I would be much more regretful for it being my first murder, but I feel quite satisfied with the results. It was an absolute pain to clean up though. Blood is difficult to remove. I guess I'll go through all the gory details now I'm calmed down.
I got so mad at him I grabbed him by his puny little neck, kicking and screaming and took him into the kitchen, where I stabbed him multiple times and wrenched off one of his legs. Ouch, what a painful way to go. That didn't kill him though. A few stabs with a spare screwdriver was what finished him off. I then proceeded to chop him up, and grind him up, and cooked him. I then put his remains in a sandwich with grass, hay and daisies, and gave these sandwiches to my "friends". I passed it off as a special type of new ingredient. Those fools couldn't tell they were eating grinded up dragon meat. Well, Fluttershy did ask where he was but I said he was organising some books in my study pile upstairs and might be going out to the shops later, and she went with this answer.
She's such a pushover.
Anyways, I've been wondering, since I loved murdering Spike so much, who my next victim should be. Maybe Fluttershy, but I think I'll take a small break from killing and focus on studying. After all, gotta focus on that test, right?
Your satisfied student, Twilight Sparkle
Dear Princess Celestia
I didn't even get a chance to kill anypony today. I've been distracted by that other me outside the window.
Maybe she's my next victim, but if I murdered her, would it wipe me from existence too?
Isn't science fun?
Your curious student, Twilight Sparkle
Dear Princess Celestia
It hurts....so much...
That other me just got in, about time, it's been stalking me for a while now. It's certainly a little more grotesque than I imagined, and I finally get to see what it looks like.
Ouch. There's a lot of my blood on the floor.
Oh Celestia, oh Celestia.
How much I hate you, for letting this happen to me. I'm slowly bleeding out. ..slowly...it hurts so much..
OH SWEET CELESTIA
MY LEGS
LEAVE THEM ALONE YOU BEAST
Darn it. I really wanted to keep my legs
The pain is unbearable now. You may notice the ink is red...I think you can guess what it is...and you'll be holding it...heh heh.
This is Twilight sparkle, signing out forever. Thank Celestia it's over for me.
Oh wait, I don't thank you, you evil fat pig in white who claims to be a princess
Your dying student, Twilight spa-
Dear Princess Celestia
You know, I think we really need to catch up more than this. That bleeding out thing was just minor, it's funny seeing you panic.
How can I see you panic? I see everything
I've killed everyone. My friends, Spike, I killed and ate them. They tasted good. Although, that pink one tasted funny. Get it, because she acts like a clown? Ha ha, I'm so funny! Anyways, since we haven't been keeping up that well, I've decided to pay you a little visit after my corpse feast. Yum. See that door behind you? Open it...
Hello, Princess~
