Behind Equestria
The Test.
Load Full StoryEllie Tronics groaned as she slowly slipped away from sleep. She sat up in her bed and rubbed her big blue eyes with her hooves. She knew today would be a big day. Today she was going to have her flying test at flight school. She had to be ready, so she's been training at school every time they had recess.
She got up and went to the bathroom to wash off. She was scared. What if she flunks? Will she ever fly again? She doesn't know much about it, all she knows is that she needs to flap her wings. She was only 5 in pony years. Big, bright blue eyes, about the color of the sky in the summer. She was skinny and agile, but very vulnerable to crashes, so she had to be careful due to the easily broken bones. Her mane was all poofy and sticking up from her sleep, but it was normally straight and spiky, like Rainbow Dash's. Her coat was grey and right now she wasn't wearing her small square glasses. Her cutie mark was a laptop, symbolizing her love for electronics and internet.
She walked downstairs, yawning, to the dinner table where her mother was cooking breakfast. She took a peek at the hay bacon strips and sunflower toast. After she ate she put on a coat, saddlebags, and stuffed her lunch into them. She then waved goodbye to her mother, (who wished me good luck) and bolted towards the bus. It took off into the sky towards the school in cloudsdale.
(After this I accidentally made it first person, so keeping it that way.)
"Hey, Ellie?" I heard the voice of my best friend. He could be so much better in life... but sadly, he resorted to smoking at an early age. Although he stopped, he's still permenately messed up. I turned around to his red coat and green eyes. He's younger than me but says hes older then all of us.
"Yes, Kolbey?" I asked the red colt.
"Whats your idea for the test?" He questioned in his usual cheery voice.
"Eh, you know, just flying around trying loops, I guess..." I said, unsure myself.
"I'm gonna try to race another pony." He stated, proudly. He then slumps when he sees my face, broken up in a laugh
"Good luck, your older brother tried that and ended up stuck in one of the cloud poles. I don't even know how that's possible!"
The bus then came to a stop outside the school. We stepped off one by one, to be greeted by our Emo friend. He seems to hate his life... and we usually see him in dark corners staring at us. We all walk to our first period. Our teacher was lecturing us on historic races. The next period we found ourselves being drilled on how to rotate our wings in a way to turn. This was really embarrassing, because I have really small wings for my age, which is why I rarely spread them. Eventually it reached the point in which I was begging to no one for it to just hurry up and get it over with. Then we found ourselves standing before the giant ring in which we fly at. This is where we being training. First it was Scootaloo, and she was surprisingly fast, but accident prone almost. Due to all her crashes, she got a 6, she could have gotten a 2 if it wasn't for her speed. Next was Kolbey and some buff colt. They took off at max speed, Kolbey unleashing a speed I never would have guessed from him before. I feel wet as I realize I've been sweating. Eventually, Kolbey came out on top and got an 8. The other colt got a 5, passing. Then it was Eduardo's turn. He just jumped off in an attempt to hurt himself, I guess. He was swiftly caught by the teachers and given a 0, utter failure.
"Ellie Tronics?" The teacher called.
My heart sunk as I knew I was going to fail. I stepped up and readied myself. This was it. I had to do it.
I took off.
The wind brushed past me as I flapped my mini wings as fast as they could take me. I blasted around all the checkpoint rings and did a few loops and spins. I showed off a bit by streaking down, increasing speed, and before the teachers caught me, I blasted up and they kept going, stupid looks on their faces. I giggled and kept going, the crowd cheering at my outsmarting of the teachers. I sped through the rest of the checkpoints and bolted towards the students. I twisted my wings to the best angle for perfect breaks, and right before smacking into a teacher, I halted quickly. All the students were cheering at my victory. I walked up to Kolbey and high hoofed him. The judges talked among themselves... and held up a 5, 3, and 2. A ten! I excelled everypony in the class!
