//-------------------------------------------------------// Darkness in the Heart -by Goldy- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Prologue //-------------------------------------------------------// Prologue Inside of everyone's heart is light and darkness. However, sometimes one side can overcome the other. It was a sunny day in Canterlot- no, it would be a sunny day, but a mysterious shroud of darkness covered the skies over Ponyville and Canterlot. It wasn't very mysterious when they figured out the cause- it was him. He had traveled a long ways from his home, but while he walked there, he learned some new powers. Princess Celestia was sitting in her throne. Nothing was happening. She knew what was going on outside. She knew she would be last. She was just waiting for him to attack. She was defenseless against him. But at least she can damage him. She was waiting for that door to be slammed open and for him to come in. She had to keep her defenses up, or else he would overwhelm her. She heard a sound in the hallway outside of her chamber. She prepared to use her magic. Then, she heard even louder noise. Then another, even louder. She could identify that something was slamming the door. Then came the final noise. The door was knocked down, and, standing where the door used to be, was a black stallion. He was unicorn, and he was fully black. He had dark black fur and an even darker mane. He had a black, broken heart as his cutie mark, but it was almost invisible due to his dark fur. He was smiling  in a sinister fashion. Princess Celestia said, "You're here... I thought you would be coming sooner." "Ah..." he said. He then turned into a dark presence just like the shroud that covered the sky and floated to her at a very fast speed. It was... pure darkness, in a form similar to smoke. When it was right next to her, he turned back into the dark stallion. "I had some... business to care of. Let's just say that the town down there..." He turned back into the dark smoke. He went to Celestia's balcony and turned back into a stallion again. Pointed down to Ponyville. "...Let's just say it's in mine now." Shit, he's already taken Ponyville., thought Princess Celestia. I guess the elements defeating him is now out of the question... "What the hell are you?!" Celestia yelled. "I am darkness!" he yelled back. "I am the darkness inside of your heart and all else's! I am hate, death, and war! I am nothing; I am everything! I am darkness, and I shall embrace it!" Celestia had a panicked look on her face. She was truly scared of him. She felt her stomach churn. "So," he said, calmed down. "I pretty much have everything now. And nothing can stop me. Except you. Now, I'll make that not be an option anymore..." He made a huge smile and turned back into darkness. It then went over to Celestia and engulfed her in the smoke. She couldn't breathe. She was suffocating. She finally gave up after a while and stopped her breathing. But, she didn't die. Inside of her, her heart was getting attacked by the darkness. It tried fighting back, but the darkness engulfed it. Inside of the heart, the little amount of darkness was growing. It gained in exponential amounts. Soon, the light inside was smaller than the darkness. The darkness was now the powerful one. Sadly, he couldn't get rid of light; he could only make darkness stronger. However, he decided to use up more energy than normal to make the darkness pretty much crush the light. After a few minutes, he left her heart and became a stallion again. Celestia was lying on the ground, with an occasional twitch here and there. "The process is complete. Now, I'd better leave, because I put in a lot of darkness. Plus, she's an alicorn. She will probably utterly destroy me if she sees me in here." He turned back into darkness and escaped the chamber quickly, so he wouldn't have to fight this powerful pony when she wakes up. A white pegasus was walking alone. She had white fur and a beautiful, even whiter mane, with a heart as her cutie mark (which was also white). She was depressed. Her parents were dead. Her brother left him. She was permanently banished from her old city. She was alone. When her brother left her, she walked in one direction, and she walked the other. However, all she found was a giant mountain range that was impossible to climb over without special equipment. So, she walked back, towards the direction he went. She knew that both of them were supposed to never split. But, they did. Now, he's probably ruining some pony's life. She had to find him and fix whatever he was doing. She looked off into the horizon and saw a town. By it, there was a giant city hanging off of a cliff of a giant mountain. Up in the sky was a dark cloud of darkness. She felt his presence off there. That must be where he was, she thought. He must have created the clouds. Huh, he must have learned some new tricks while I was gone. She took flight and sped off towards the town. Hopefully, the town had some hope to be saved. After a couple of minutes, she was at the gates of the town. Inside, she saw many angry-looking ponies. She calmed herself and looked into their hearts. She saw that they were shrouded by darkness. Shit, he's already here. //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter One: Saving Honesty //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter One: Saving Honesty She thought her heart stopped for a moment, probably two. The entire town was filled with the darkness that her brother left everywhere he goes. It ruined the lives of every single pony in the whole town. She wanted to at least see what town she was in. She took a few steps back an looked at the entrance sign. She was in Ponyville. Hey, I've heard of this place! I read about it in a travel magazine! This is where the Elements of Harmony live. Maybe if I save them, they can help me defeat him... well, since he's in Canterlot, I assume, he's also probably gotten at least one of the princesses, maybe both. Hopefully the Elements can at least help me defeat the Alicorns, since they have unimaginable powers. Hay, those princesses can lift up the entire sun and moon without breaking a sweat!... I'm just forcing myself off topic, aren't I? Okay, the Elements... they have 2 earth ponies, 2 unicorns, and 2 pegasi. That's some good variety. So... I need to purify them all, but I need to start with an easy one. The pegasi can fly, obviously, and the unicorns can use magic, also obviously. That leaves the two earth ponies. There's the Element of Honesty, a tough farmer. She'll be a bit of a tough one to purify. The other one is the Element of Laughter. She... throws parties. She'll probably be easier to get, but the other one's strength will help me get all of the others. I guess... I'll go for the Element of Honesty first... Why does this sound cliché?... I don't break the fourth wall often. But, at least I can... Again, I'm forcing myself off-topic. Okay, so I have to look for a farm. I'm assuming that's on the outskirts of this town. I guess I'll get searching. She then forced a lift-off and started her search. She decided it would be best to circumnavigate the town, since she assumed that a farm would would be on the edge of a town. Seriously, why would a farm be in the center of a town? That would be just silly, you silly filly. She realized something. Even though it was a bit early to ponder on this subject, what would she call herself? She had no official name. Hay, she didn't even have a birth certificate. But she just shook that thought about the birth certificate off; it was too painful to think about. So, what would she call herself? She had to think of something that was her. The first thought that came to mind was Love. She was love, literally. But nopony would want to call any pony "Love". So, she decided that the second name that came to mind was the best one: Light. Perfect. She was light, also, but more love. Alright. Her new official (Technically, unofficial) name was Light. She looked down. She surprised to see she flying right over a farm; she was too deep into her thoughts to notice it. She then looped down and landed. She looked around. It was extremely hot and sunny. It was autumn, but this heat was comparable to summer. She realized something; if the princess raises the sun, does that mean she can have control over it? Was she already consumed, and made the sun hot out of her hatred? She thought it was plausible, but not very likely. She got out her thoughts for the, what, fourth time that day? She looked around, with her hoof covering her eyes from the sun so she could see without its glare. She was in the middle of a field. She saw a house off a bit away, with an orange pony sitting on its porch. The pony apparently didn't notice Light at all. It was a perfect opportunity for Light to fly and sneak up on her. That would definitely make her life a lot easier. She got up into the air and flew towards the orange pony. She landed silently on the porch. Just in case she somehow managed to screw things up, she wanted to make sure she isn't going to almost kill herself with her spell on somepony how isn't even evil. She looked into her heart and saw it shrouded with disgusting darkness. Yep, she was evil. So, Light started to silently walk up to this orange mare in a hat. Then, one step ruined the entire process; she step on the one wooden plank that squeaked. Out of the hundred of planks... she happened to step on that one plank. Guess what? The orange pony happened to hear this and turned around with a big, evil smile on her face. "Well, howdy!" said the orange pony. "Ah haven't seen you 'round here before. Y'all must be new. Let me introduce mahself. Ah am..." There was a pause between the next words. What, an extremely friend jerk? Is that even possible? "...going to destroy you." Well, I guess not. But... ahem; next time on Mythbusters. She chuckled out loud at her fourth-wall breaking joke. "What? Y'all think ah'm funny, huh? Well, let's see if this is funny!" The orange pony then charged at Light like a bull. Thanks to her wings, she managed to dodge out of the way, into the air. "So, y'all gonna play cheap like that? Ah guess ah'l just have to take you down!" the orange pony yelled. She then galloped over to a basket of apples. She picked one up and threw it into the air. She then turned around and bucked it right at Light. The pony had amazing accuracy, considering she was bucking backwards, but Light had the reflexes to quickly dodge the incoming apples. When she ran out of apples, Light decided it was then or never to fly down and get this pony. She flew down and looked at this orange pony. The pony then smirked and then charged at Light again. Light dodged like last time, except to the side instead of in the air. The pony then charged for the last time. Light saw a perfect opportunity. She dodged a bit earlier than the last times, but when the time was right, she then kicked the orange pony right into an apple tree. When the pony hit the tree, a bunch of apples fell from the tree, and her hat covered her face. When Light walked up to her, she tilted her hat back up. "Ah... ah thought you were supposed to be nice?" she said, with obvious pain in her voice. Damn, I didn't know I had that much strength in me. "I am, it's just that I'm hurting you for a good cause." She then began her spell. She levitated off of the ground without her wings, similar to a unicorn spell. She then bent her wings inward, then sent them blasting outward. This made a ball of light appear in front of her chest. She then forced her wings to go towards the direction that the orange pony was laying, which made the ball of light follow its wind. The light went right through the pony's chest. Inside, her heart was suddenly getting exponential amounts of light growing, just like how it happened with the darkness. After the light stopped growing, much of the light and dark were erased; however, they were in equal amounts, so the result ended in the same amount. Then came a final burst of light, and the spell was done. Light fell to the ground, out of energy. That spell always took a lot of energy out of her, even though she has only performed it once before. The orange pony was unconscious, and Light was laying on the ground, even though she was still conscious. The first one to get up was the earth pony. "Uh," she said while rubbing. "What the hay happened?" She looked around and found a white pegasus laying on the ground. She walked up her and said, "Who are you? Are y'all alright?" Light moaned and looked up. She saw the pony she purified minutes ago, even though it felt like hours. "Oh, you're alright. Great, I didn't kill almost myself for nothing." She lied up. "So... who are you?" The orange pony said, "Ah'm Applejack, owner of this here farm." Light was stretching. "You're the Element of Honesty, right?" Applejack said, "You betcha ah am! So, who are you? Ah haven't seen y'all before." Light said, "Call me Light. That's what I am. I actually don't have a name, so I adopted that as a name." Applejack didn't question it. "So... what happened?" Light explained what happened between her arriving in Ponyville to her purifying Applejack. She also explained how her brother is making every pony evil. "So, that's pretty much it. Hey, I'm trying to save all of the Elements so I can fight my brother. Which Element should I go up against? I don't want to face anypony that I can't defeat." Applejack thought for a moment, tapping her hoof on her chin. "Ah say you should go to Fluttershy; she's the Element of Kindness. She's weak on the outside, but is tough as nails on the inside. She lives in a cottage on the edge of the Everfree Forest." Light nodded. "Alright, I trust you; you are the Element of Honesty after all. Let's go save the other Elements." Applejack nodded and smiled. They then walked through the fields towards the forest. Little did they know, that Light's brother (whom we shall call Dark) was watching them with his magic. //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 2: Saving Kindness //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 2: Saving Kindness Light and Applejack walked up to the small cottage on the edge of the creepy forest. "Alrighty," said Applejack, "This is where Fluttershy lives. Hopefully she's in there." Light creaked the door open; it was already slightly ajar. "Is anypony in here?" she called out. There was no reply. She expected that, considering the house had no obvious signs of any life being in there. She pulled herself out and went up to Applejack. "She's not in there." Then, they heard a sound from behind the house. "Well, maybe she is out back instead of inside." They abandoned the front door and walked to the back of the house. They heard some chickens going crazy inside of the chicken coop. They jumped over the fence surrounding the area for animals. The two ponies walked up to the chicken coop. Light opened the door and peaked inside silently. They saw a yellow mare with a pink mane, handling (Actually, pretty much the opposite of that; she was doing a very horrible job) a bunch of chickens. "Stupid chickens!" the mare yelled. Light whispered, "Is that her? She doesn't seem very nice to me." Applejack whispered back, "That is her, but ah guess that the evil stuff made her mean." Just then, something popped up besides them. It was a little portal. It was dark for a second, but then they saw the other side. There was a fully black stallion standing in a palace. "Hello, sister." he said. "Hello, brother," Light mumble through her teeth. "That's your brother?" whispered Applejack to Light. "Yes, I am her brother, Applejack," Dark said, a bit disgruntled. "H-how do you know name?" asked Applejack. "I'm the one who darkened you. I decided I should meet the Elements in person. I was able to, and, obviously, I met you. You were one of the tougher ones to darken, but I guess it wasn't really worth it if my sister so easily lightened you. And yes, I did watch the whole thing. Pathetic. Anyway, let me get to the reason I'm contacting you. In there is Fluttershy, as you may know. When I looked into her heart, she had tiniest amount of darkness I've ever seen. But, that tiny amount was also the most powerful amount of darkness I've ever seen. So, I actually almost killed myself trying to make there be more darkness than light. But it was so damn worth it. She was totally evil; hay, she might be thinking up a plot to destroy everything in the universe right now. But, she did have very strong light as well. But, since there's more darkness, she's evil. Anyway, that's it. Bye." The portal then quickly faded away. "Well, that sucks," Light said, "She's going to be tough to purify if she has so tough darkness." "But, he did say she had some tough light also," Applejack said. "Maybe that counteracts it." Light sighed and said, "When I purify her, I'll probably pass out when I'm done, since she has the tough darkness. Just let me have some air and I should be fine." Applejack nodded. Right then, the door slammed open, and it almost hit Light in the head. "WHO THE HELL IS TALKING OUT HERE?!" yelled Fluttershy. She saw Applejack and Light. "WHAT THE HELL DO YOU WANT?!" Light said, "We want you. Not this evil you. We want the real you." Fluttershy said, very loudly but not as loudly as before, "What the hell are you talking about?!" The yellow mare shook her head. "It doesn't matter; I'm going to kill you both anyways!" She then quickly leaped into the air with her wings and dive-bombed Light. Light flapped her wings and flew into the air; Fluttershy hit her head on the wood. That's got to have hurt. She landed right on her head. It took her a moment, but Fluttershy got up, rubbing her head. Light landed from flight in front of her. "Please, stop, we're trying to help-" Fluttershy interrupted with an angry mix between a moan and a yell. Fluttershy charged right at Light, but Light dodged to the side. When she was done with her charge, Fluttershy prepared for another one, but she appeared to have gotten a sharp headache. "No, stop!" she yelled in her regular, sweet voice. She had her hooves on her head, and she was screaming and scrambling around. Applejack said, "Her good side must be fightin' back!" Maybe I can take advantage of this situation. Maybe I nor Applejack should fight her... but maybe she will fight herself. "Maybe..." she mumbled. "Hey, Applejack!" she yelled. "Maybe if you try to spark a memory of her good side, she'll fight back! Try just to make her remember you!" "Um, Light, are y'all sure that's gonna work?" "Aha! I have no idea!" Applejack shrugged and went up to Fluttershy. "Look, Flutters! It's me, Applejack! Remember me? We were great friends, along with everypony else." "A-Applejack? Wh-wh-" Fluttershy got a spark in her eyes and was motionless for a couple seconds. Suddenly, sudden enough to scare Light and Applejack, she started screaming. She had her hooves on her head again and was scrambling everywhere again. "Stop!" she was yelling. "Get out of my head!" Light decided that was the perfect situation to use the spell. She flew up into the air and created the ball of light. She motioned them inward and sent it flying into Fluttershy's chest. Inside of her heart, the light grew and grew until it incredibly over-numbered and overpowered the darkness. There was crossing out, then the spell was done; however, the spell too longer than when Light did it to Applejack, so it took more energy. Both Light and Fluttershy fell to the ground, whiting out. Light woke up on a couch inside of some house she assumed that it was Fluttershy's cottage. Light moaned and looked around and saw Fluttershy, who was standing next to Applejack. "Oh, you're awake," Fluttershy said. Light said, "Yeah, I am. Anything special happen while I was unconscious?" Applejack said, "Nah. Ah just brought you two inside and waited for you both to wake up. Fluttershy woke up about ten minutes ago, and, even though I disagreed, she decided to make food n' stuff." Fluttershy said, "Oh, um... I made some carrot soup over there, and you can eat some... if, if that's alright with you." Light didn't realize how hungry she was. She got up, stretched, then walked over to the table where the soup was. She drank the entire bowl in a couple minutes. "Mmm... that was delicious! Thank you." Fluttershy said, "Oh, it was the least I could do for you saving me. What is your name, by the way?" Light said, "My unofficial name is Light, and that's what I'm going to stick by." "Hello, Light. I'm Fluttershy." "You're the Element of Kindness, correct?" Fluttershy nodded. I never would have assumed that when she was evil. "So..." Light said. "I'm saving the Elements. I need to save all six of them, so who should I go to next?" Applejack said, "Either Pinkie Pie or Rarity. Ah say Pinkie Pie first, because Rarity is a unicorn and uses magic." Light said, "And what about the other two?" Applejack said, "There's Rainbow Dash, but she's a fast flier. And Twilight, but she's great at pretty much every kind of magic." Light had little choice. "I guess I'll go for- what was it?- Pinkie Pie, or whatever it is. She'll be next." Applejack finished, "Alrigh'. But y'all both should stay here unto you get your energy back." Light sighed and went back to the couch she woke up on. She lied down. Uh, at this rate, the world will randomly explode before I can even get to my brother. //-------------------------------------------------------// Backstory Part 1: Pains of the past... //-------------------------------------------------------// Backstory Part 1: Pains of the past... Manehattan was always a busy city. New sights and smells every day. Of course, most of these are bad ones. Ponies enter and exit buildings. Ponies exit and enter the city. This led to pretty much nothing being able to be kept a secret. If it's there somepony will notice it. No exceptions. And no, there won't be an exception in this story. A random stallion was walking by a street. A busy one, at that, and he was extremely close to the road, but he felt nothing threatening his life, despite the ponies rushing by him. Hay, he could easily die right there, but he didn't, and he didn't feel like anything could kill him. Anyways, getting that out of the way, he really was just a random stallion; he's so random, we're no even going to give him a name. He was brown with a tan mane and papers as a cutie mark. He was a business pony, with a something new from his job every other day. He was walking when he heard something. It wasn't the sound of construction. In fact, it was quieter than the construction, but he heard it louder for some reason; he knew that the sound was coming from below. But the only thing below him was a sewer. Then he realized it was coming from the sewer on the side of the road. He knew what the sound was: A crying foal. No... two. Two crying foals were trapped in the sewer below him. I need to save them! They're trapped down there, probably hungry and thirsty, waiting for somepony to take care of them. But I can't take care of them, he thought. I guess I'd better save them and bring them to the foster home. Hopefully they'll know what to do with them. He then bent down and lifted the sewer cover and, sure enough, were two foals, crying. They were, for some reason, surrounded by candles, as if somepony was doing a sacrifice. He slowly descended by a ladder and went up to the foals. One was perfectly black, with a black coat and an even darker coat, and the other was perfectly white, with a white coat and a beautiful white mane. But it wasn't the opposite color scheme that confused him; it was what was on the other side of their bodies. They had cutie marks. Bucking cutie marks. No foal EVER had a cutie make at such a young age; they were always a few years old when they got their cutie marks. But, right on their flanks, were cutie marks. What's also strange is that not only their color schemes were opposite, but also their cutie marks were opposite. The white one had a cutie mark of a heart that was also white. The black one had a black, broken heart as his cutie mark. Both were barely visible due to their color schemes. After investigating them, he had to save them, despite them being strange. He picked them up and somehow managed to get back out of the sewer. He kicked the sewer plate back into place and started walking towards the foster home near the suburban part of Manehattan. He walked in, dropped them off, answered the few questions he could, then left. They were the foster home's problems then. They grew up there. When they grew up, they absolutely despised each other. They seemed like they just wanted to kill each other. They had no birth certificate, but everypony knew they were brother and sister. It was a known fact for some reason; maybe because they were strangely, perfectly opposite. They also grew up with no names. Since everypony thought they were brother and sister, that's what they called each other; the girl was sister, and the boy was brother. The two of them just seemed like average ponies with strange powers. Anyway, whenever somepony tried to adopt one of them, the one getting adopted would fight back. They would go back to their sibling, with both of the crying. So, they had to be stuck there for a while, because anypony wanting to adopt them would want only one of them. They hated each other, but loved each other at the same time. Over time, it seemed to get stranger. The girl loved her brother, but the brother hated the sister. It was unexplainable. But, after many years, they finally both got adopted; it was an old couple who could not have any foals themselves, so they had to adopt one, or, actually, two. When they got adopted, they recently learned how to read and speak. That was also the time that their powers had became fully available... The powers that they didn't even know they had. //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 3: Saving Laughter //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 3: Saving Laughter Light fell asleep again, despite trying to keep herself up. She had an... interesting dream... to say the least. She dreamt a dream where she was standing right in front of her brother inside of the Canterlot castle. There were no signs of the Elements, princesses, or any other living creature around. Just her and him. "This is where it ends, sister," her brother said, in a voice that sounded like nails on a chalkboard to her. It made her flinch. "Yes, brother. No matter what, there will not be 2 of us walking out of this castle today," Light said. I didn't say that... She paused her thought for a moment. Wait, my thoughts are lucid, but my actions aren't... Then, something struck her. Wait... that's me over there... I'm not in my body! She tried lifting up her hooves. She had none. She looked to her side to look at her body. She had none. Wait... I'm not anywhere... I'm a ghostly figure... But, why? Uh, this makes my non-existent brain hurt. Even though she did not understand anything, she continued to watch. Dark then turned into darkness like he did in the beginning in this story, (yes, I am going to break the fourth wall.) then charged towards Light. Light did something she didn't know she could do: Turn into light. She turned into a giant ball of light, similar to the one from her spell. She then charged at her brother. When they collided, it caused sparks to go everywhere. The ghost Light might have been lit on fire if she had a body. The two got sent back then charged back at each other. They constantly did this, and they started to attack in the middle of the air eventually. Dang, I really am tough. I never knew that; I thought my brother was the tough one... Well, we are opposite in some ways, back equal in other ways. Maybe that's one of the things that's equal instead of opposite... Gosh, I turning into some philosophical thinker or something. I really need to stop thinking so hard. Well, maybe I shouldn't... what if this is me viewing the future somehow? This is realistic,  and it is possible... I should keep watching to see what happens in the end. She exited her thoughts and looked back to the battle. There was one final charge and they went back to their original spots, both of them scratched and bruised. Dark then started to charge his dark laser from his horn, and Light began to charge her light ball with her weird spell thing. After a couple seconds, they both fired their lasers at the exact same time, making the them hit and causing an explosion at where it hit. Wait, there usually isn't a laser behind my ball of light... ugh, something else for me to learn. The lasers continued being shot, with one side occasionally beating the other side for a few seconds, but the other side would fight back to make it even again. Eventually, one side was losing too much energy to fight back: Light. She was obviously out of energy and was about to pass out. Dark made a sinister smile and put much energy in his final push. The laser went close to Light's face and, when there was no more of her beam, it hit her in the face with an explosion. She flew back and lay there, not moving nor breathing. Dark walked up to his sister's dead body and starting laughing maniacally. No... this can't be true... I can't die, I can't lose... No, no, no, no, nononono... She felt like she was going to pass out, despite having no body. Well... she somehow did; she fell to the ground and slowly fluttered her eyes closed, with her brother's maniacal laugh still ringing in her not-real ears. "Ah!" she yelled the front half of her body jerked forward after waking up from that dream- no, it was a nightmare. She looked around and saw Applejack and Fluttershy sitting in front of her. "Whoa, nelly!" Applejack said. "Finally, you're up! Y'all've been screamin' and kickin' in your sleep for the last 10 minutes!" Light held her stomach. "Uh, I feel sick..." She felt nauseous. Fluttershy said, "Oh, let me go and get some medication." She flew over and got some liquid medicine, then flew back over and gave it to Light. Light looked at it quizzically, but decided to drink it, since it would be rude not to. She popped off the cap and poured it onto her mouth. She swallowed it and stuck out her tongue in disgust. I think it might have been better to just not even drink this... Fluttershy obviously took note of this and said, "Oh, it doesn't taste good, but you'll feel better soon." Yeah, right. Light sat on the couch for a few more minutes. (Which felt like hours to her.) Eventually, she felt her stomach ache go away. Once she felt well again, she sat, stretched, then moved around so she can get her muscles ready for moving again. After a few minutes, she said with a yawn, "Alright, I think it's time to head out... Wait, where are we headed?" Applejack and Fluttershy also realized that they didn't know their destination. "Um..." Applejack said. "I think she's at Sugar Cube Corner, probably." Light tilted her head forward a bit. "And where is that in this town?" "Oh! It's..." Applejack lost her moderately happy mood. "...in the middle of Ponyville..." Light plopped back onto the couch. "Great. If it's in the middle of Ponyville, and you're coming along with me, that means that we're going to have to beat up a ton of ponies on the way there. Ugh!" she moaned. "Unless..." She lifted herself off of the couch, getting an idea, but keeping her mildly sad mood. "...unless I go there with only Fluttershy, since she's a pegasus also." Fluttershy squeaked and backed away. "You don't want to go?" She shook her head. Light sighed. "Alright, I guess this will be a lone mission. This place will kind of our 'base of operations'. I'll come back when I have the pink pony. Okay?" Even though they seemed to not agree, Applejack and Fluttershy nodded their heads. "I'm going out. I'll be back soon... maybe. I dunno. Bye!" She opened the door and went outside. She then launched up into flight and flew towards the middle of town. After a minute or two, she flying over the more action-packed area of Ponyville. She looked down and saw many ponies who obviously had Dark's curse on them. Luckily, none of them noticed her; if she was noticed, she would have already been pelted with rocks. She looked around and looked for Sugar Cube Corner. Alright, what am I looking for?... Wait, what am I looking for? Crap, they never told me what to look for! So, I guess I'll have to put pieces of the puzzle together. 'Sugar Cube Corner'... sounds like a place for sweets. Is there anything around here that seems like a place for sweets? She immediately noticed a building that looked like candy. I guess that's it... And my eyesight's too poor to see what the front sign says, but if I get closer, the ponies will notice me and try to attack me. I hope my instincts are right. If I put the pieces of the puzzle together right, but that is not the place, my name is Bob. And thankfully, it's not. Light then swooped over to the building and slammed herself onto the side of the roof. She didn't want any unwanted attention. She circumnavigated the house but saw no entrance on the side of the house. ...why did I expect there to be a door on the second floor of the house? I'm losing my mind... There was, however, a perfect window at the way top of the building. She flew up to the way top and stood on the balcony-thing. She tried opening the window. AS she expected, it was locked. Well, I have no choice here; I guess I"ll have to do this the hard way! She flew up into the air then charged into the window, shattering it into many pieces and leaving her inside the dark building. Well, I'm in...  it's a lot darker than I expected. But that doesn't change anything. She walked further in and it got extremely dark. It's times like these that I really wish I was a unicorn... But I wouldn't be in here if I wasn't a pegasus. Here's the question; why couldn't I be born an alicorn? Wait, that's too unrealistic... Hey, a light! She was thinking while walking and saw a dim, steady light at the end of the hallway. She raced over to it and peeked her head in. "Hello?" Inside, she saw a pony having a small party with a bunch of inanimate objects. Um... what? She looked at the pony. She had an extremely dark shade of pink as her color, even in the barely-lit room, the dark color was obvious. She had an even darker pink mane; the mane was perfectly straight, which is very rare for a pony to have a mane like that. The pink pony apparently heard Light's 'Hello?' from earlier, so she turned around. The eyes were extremely dark blue (at least, for a pony). It was actually pretty creepy all combined, since EVERY color was extremely dark; she seemed like a psycho-manic-depressive pony. (Well, she's right.) Why does this feel like my and some other pony's worst nightmare? "Hi there," the pink pony said in a voice that didn't seem crazy. It was the difference in looks and voice that made Light shiver. "Do you want to have a party?" Light said in a small voice, "N-n-no..." I don't even need to look into her heart to tell she's evil... The pink pony cringed an eye. "Well, it's going to be your last!" She suddenly took out the cake-cutting knife. "AH!" Light screamed. She started running away at a speed faster than when she's flying. "Teehee..." her voice said; it was from far away, but it sounded like it was right up against Light's ear. "You can't escape me..." I am so glad I didn't bring Applejack and Fluttershy along; then there would be 3 ponies here having nightmares... "Boo!" "AH!" Light screamed and kicked where the voice came from. She felt that she kicked something and looked to see what she hit. "Ouch!" the pink pony's voice said. There was suddenly light around and Light saw what she hit: The pink pony's face; she hit her right in the muzzle, making her bleed. "Ow! Gosh, all I do is chase you around to scare you, and you kick me in the face! Seriously, what the hay!" Light said quizzically, "Wait, you're not trying to kill me?" The pink pony said, "Well, duh! What do think I'm going to do? Turn you into cupcakes?" I've broken the fourth wall enough to say yes. "All i'm trying to do is scare you so I can get a good laugh! It's always fun to get scared!" Not if I'm getting scared to death- literally! "Hm..." Light said, tapping her chin. Idea! "Whatcha thinking about, scaredy hooves?" said the pink pony, who leaned up into Light's face. (Who is obviously Pinkie Pie, so that's what we're going to call her now.) Light then kicked her again, this time, not in the face. "Ow!" Pinkie said. "Again! Why did you do that?" Light then kicked again. And again. And again. Finally, Pinkie was up against the wall, unable to move from the pain. "You're a meany..." Light sighed. I really need to stop kicking so hard. Anyway, I think I should try having the laser-thing behind my ball of light so I can train for fighting my brother. But... how do I do it? Meh, I guess I'll figure it out. Alright, here we go. Light then began her spell. When she launched the orb at Pinkie's chest, she focused her energy a bit more, thinking it would make the beam come behind it. Well, she was right. The beam came behind it, which caused the multiplication of the light inside of Pinkie's heart grow faster, without taking more energy. When she finished, Light fell to the ground and Pinkie still lay there. Light was still awake. Yes, the beam made me not instantly pass out! Thank you, random dream that allowed me to see into the future. Though, I am still pretty weak. Anyway- Her thought was interrupted by a pink pony jumped in front of Light. "Hi there!" they pink pony with fluffy hair happily exclaimed. "Ah!" Light jumped back a few inches. She might have expected something to come from below, but no; the pink pony came from above, making her be upside down. "Um... do I know you?" "Oh course you do, silly! You're the who saved me just now!" "Wait, what? I didn't save you, I saved that other pony..." she looked over to where the crazy Pinkie was lying, but there was no Pinkie there. "Huh? Wait, she was just there a second ago and-" "No, no no! I'm her!" "But you look completely different!" "Well, that's just what I look like when I'm not happy. I'm happy now!" Pinkie jumped up and down. "But, but... Uh, I give up. You're Pinkie Pie, right?" "What? No." "AH!" Light groaned. Light looked to the side. "I'm just messing with ya. I am Pinkie Pie!" "Uh, thank goodness I didn't almost kill myself for nothing..." "What do you mean, Scaredy hooves?" "It means- wait, how do you know that? Do you remember that?" Pinkie jumped around. "Of course I do, silly! What, was I not supposed remember that?" Light was going to continue talking, but just gave a sigh. "I give up. So, how are we going to get out of here alive?" "You can just use your wings and fly out of here like a hawk or something!" "Well, I know that. But how are you going to get out of here safely?" "I'll just leave, silly!" "But you're going to get torn up by the evil ponies!" "What are you talking about? I'll be totally safe!" "No you're not! They'll destroy you-" She was interrupted by a hoof over her mouth. "Don't worry, Scaredy Hooves! I'll be okay. And you can't change my mind!" Light sighed. "Fine, I'll let you go alone. But if you die out there, I'll... um... kill you again!" I could never kill a pony! What am I thinking? Pinkie Pie rubbed her on the head, messing up her mane. "Okie Dokie, Lokie! I'll be good!" Light knew there was no sense to continue arguing or talking, so she walked over to the broken window and flew back out, heading back to Fluttershy's cottage. She saw Pinkie still standing inside Sugar Cube Corner. She'd better be safe, alright. Light landed in front of the door to the cottage and opened up the door to go inside. Once she closed the door, she saw that Pinkie was standing there. "There y'all are! Pinkie's been here fer 5 minutes, and we've been waitin' on ya!" Applejack said. "What the- what?" Light said, confused. "How? Huh? Uh, this pony here makes no sense." She motioned towards Pinkie. Applejack giggled and said, "We all of us already knew that." "Yeah! And I knew that already, also!" said a voice suddenly to Light's left ear. Light jumped to her left and I saw that it was Pinkie Pie. "What the-" Light looked back and forth to where Pinkie currently was and where she was seconds before. "What the- But she was- And now she's- Uh, my brain hurts. Do you have any tea?" Fluttershy nodded and went to where her kitchen was. Light plopped down onto the couch. She needed time to think and rest. Fluttershy came back with a cup of tea and handed it to Light. "Thank you," said Light. "Oh, it's nothing," replied Fluttershy. "It's the least I could do for saving the three of us." Light realized, "Oh yeah, I've saved three of you. That means I'm half way done saving you all. But that doesn't mean my quest is half way over; we still have to go up to Canterlot and defeat my brother." "C-c-canterlot?" Fluttershy squeaked. "Isn't that where the princesses are?" Light sighed. "Yup. And I think they've been consumed, also. Notice how it's autumn and yet the sun is blaring outside, and how it's also motionless? I think it's because of the Princess of Sol is doing it out her pure hatred. That's why I'm saving you all; to save her while I meet up with my brother." Silence. "So... I'm saving that Rarity lady next?" "That's yer best bet," said Applejack. "So... where is she? I had a tough time finding Pinkie, and I doubt I'll have a fun time finding her without any information." "She's probably at her boutique," Applejack said. She gave Light directions to it. "You can't miss it." "Alright," Light said. "I'm going out now." Fluttershy said, "Are you sure you want to leave? You just got here; you should probably get some rest while you're here." Light said while pushing open the door, "Nah. I've got a lot of energy right now. Besides, I'm getting used to this; I shouldn't have a tough time. See ya when I get back!" Light then closed the door and flew up into the air. Next stop: The boutique. //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 4: Saving Generosity //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 4: Saving Generosity Light launched up and flew towards Ponyville. Huh, I've done this multiple times... and I'm saving the fourth element right now... Huh, time sure flew. It feels like it was just a couple hours ago I got here... Wait, it was. She chuckled at her own mistake. I'm getting pretty close to fighting my brother... I really hope that the battle doesn't go the way my dream told it... If it does, then my efforts are pretty much wasted... Oh, I'm here! She looked down to see a fancy-looking boutique right under her. She slowly drifted down to the ground and landed in front of its door. Huh, this one seems to be going fast. Maybe I can save this mare faster than normal. She went up to the door and tried simply walking into the boutique. However, one does not simply walk into the boutique, because it was locked. She knocked on the door. "Hello? Anypony in there?" She looked in the window and saw that the lights were on, hopefully signifying that there was a pony in there. She looked around through the window, blocking out there sun's glare with her hoof. She saw a that it really was boutique, with dresses galore. She still looked around for a pony. After about a minute, and pony inside came around the corner and walked towards the door. She a unicorn was white with a luxurious, curled purple mane, and had 3 gems for a cutie mark. Light noticed that she was walking towards the door, so she stepped back to not get hit in the face by the door. She calmed herself so she could look inside of the mare's heart as soon as she opened the door. When it opened slowly, Light looked inside the emotionless mare's heart and saw the darkness; however, it wasn't very large in proportion to the other's amounts. Huh... that's strange. At least that makes it easier for me. With the door fully opened, the previously emotionless mare put on an artificial smile. "Hello, and welcome to Rarity's boutique," she said in an artificially happy voice. Well, I'm at the right place. And whats up with her lack of true emotions? "Come on in," Rarity finished. Light just shrugged and walked in. When the were both inside, Light closed the door behind her. Light felt... anxiety inside of the boutique. Like the entire place was filled with darkness. Now that she thought about it, it was kind of dark inside, considering every window had light coming in. "So," Rarity said. "What do you want? A manecut?" Light could just end it right there if she waned to by using her spell, but she wanted to see what this dark Rarity would do during her "manecut". Light really didn't need one, nor does she want one, but she wanted to see what would happen. "Sure..." she hesitated. "Um... I'll have a manecut..." Rarity yawned and said, "Okay, dear, just sit over there on that chair and I'll be with you in just a moment." Rarity walked out of the room. Light sat on the chair pointed out for her. It was a swivel chair attached to the ground, like most of our haircut places have. Despite her sitting on a cushion, it felt like she sitting on metal. I'm pretty sure that's a bad sign... Rarity came back out the other room with two razors. Two razors? I think I only need one razor. As Rarity walked closer, she started getting an evil, sinister smile on her face. I don't think this is a manecut anymore... Light tried lifting herself out of the chair, but realized she couldn't; she was being tied to the chair by belts that were being tightened by blue magic. She looked back up and saw the unicorn with magic flowing around her horn. Should have seen this coming... As Light struggled to get out of her seat, Rarity walked up to her. "So, dear, are you ready for your manecut?" While still trying to get out, Light yelled, "NO!" Rarity got an angry look on her face and growled, "Well too bad!" She used her magic and lifted both razors into the air on either side of Light.  Rarity then made them fly right at Light's face. Just in time, Light used her wings to break the belts and duck down, making the razors miss. Light somersaulted out of her chair and made a dash towards the door to escape. "Nuh-uh-uh," Rarity said without a finger to wiggle. Then, a bunch of inanimate objects were moved in front of the door by the mare's magic. Light slid to a stop and ran back. Suddenly, Light felt a rumble and she fell to the ground. She got back up with the ground still rumbling. She looked around and saw that there were gems rising out of the ground from Rarity's blue magic. Then, suddenly, without warning, they flew right at Light. Light had good reflexes, however, and flew out of the way. However, one gem was lucky and hit her right in the front-right foreleg's knee. She felt extreme pain and looked at it. She saw the sharp, red gem sticking out of her knee. I used to be an adventurer like you, but then I took a gem to the knee. Okay, with that obvious joke out of the way: Great. Not only am I facing a pony that I can barely defeat, but I also have to do it with three legs. At least I'm a pegasus... She flew into he air and flew at Rarity, gaining speed as she flew at the white unicorn. The mare put up a shield using her magic, and made a sinister smile while sitting behind it. Light then slammed into the shield, but didn't give up. It was like trying to move a wall by pushing it with your head. It made a sound like screeching metal. But she wouldn't give up. Finally, due to Rarity's lack of experience with powerful magic, the shield broke. Light thought that when it broke, time was in slow motion for a second. Then, Light hit Rarity right in the head with her own head, making Rarity fly back and Light to land a rub her head. I swear, if I get a concussion from this... Light just shook off the pain and walked towards the white unicorn that was lying on the ground. Light just stood there. "What?" Rarity said. "Aren't you going to use your ball of light thingy?" Light said quizzically, "Aren't you going to make some remark about how I'm supposed to be nice, yet I beat you up?" Rarity made a confused look and said, "No... am I supposed to? If so, I never got the memo, dear." Light sighed and did her spell, blah blah blah. After the spell, Light still had a reasonable amount of energy. Light stood there with the pain from the gem still in her leg, waiting for Rarity to wake up.She looked down and saw that the gem fell out somewhere. The place where it hit was still really bloody, but it had stopped its bleeding. She looked back up and saw Rarity shifting around, starting to get up. When Rarity was fully up, she stretched and looked at Light. "Hello, dear. Who are you?" "Call be Light," Light said with a warm smile. Rarity looked at the only part of the Light besides her eyes that weren't white: Her bloody leg. "Ow, dear. Do you want some cloth for that?" Light said, "No, it already stopped bleeding; this is just the dried blood. Cloth won't help, and it'd only slow me down since it's my knee." "What happened?" Light slightly lowered her head while still looking at Rarity and said, "You don't want to know." Rarity didn't question the authority. "So, are we going to leave or stay here?" Light replied, "We have to leave, but I'm not sure how. You're not a pegasus like me, so you we can't just fly out, and I'm assuming you don't have the strange powers of Pinkie Pie." Rarity shook her head. "I guess we'll have to stick together and walk to Fluttershy's cottage together." "Fluttershy's cottage? Walk together? What;s going on out there?" Light sighed and gave a whole gist of what's happening. "Oh. Well, are we going to go now?" "I guess so, since there's no reason to stay here." Light then opened the door and walked outside; she was followed by Rarity. Rarity told the directions of how to walk to the cottage, so they started towards the direction. As they walked (or, limped and walked.) together, Light noticed the ponies backed away from them, as if they're afraid. Hm... they fear multiple ponies with light hearts... Maybe that can be to my advantage later... When they reached their destination, Light opened the door and let Rarity in. Light then closed the door when she was inside. Light knew what her first priority was: Getting her knee some help. She saw Fluttershy and went up to her. Light said, "Hi... um, I got stabbed by a gem in my knee. Is there some medical care around here?" Fluttershy looked down and winced at the bloody knee. "Um... yes. I'll go get some... If that's alright with you." Light nodded and Fluttershy walked away into another room. Light walked over a sat on the couch for the nine-thousand and first time. Fluttershy came back with some medical supplies and Applejack. "What's all o' this about a gem in a knee?" Applejack said. She walked over to Light and examined her knee. "Wow! That must have really hurt!" Light nodded. "Okay," Fluttershy said in her regular, quiet voice. "Here's so medical supplies. Sorry if they're not the right size, but all of my medical supplies are for animals. I tried finding  one that's the best size for you, but it may not be perfect." Fluttershy wrapped some bandages around Light's knee. Light said, "Thanks! Now, who do we have left to save?" Pinkie said, "There's Dashie, a really fast pegasus. I mean, like really fast. I mean, she's gone mach speed multiple times, and..." Applejack said over Pinkie's ramblings, "And Twilight, who is a unicorn. She's really good with magic." "Well, I have had a 'bad incident' with a unicorn before," Light said, shifting towards Rarity. "So, I can chase a pegasus that I'll probably never catch, or face a unicorn that will probably turn me into a frog. Great. Well, I guess I'll go for the pegasus since flying doesn't require me to use my leg that much. Yay." Light rolled her eyes. "I might as well stay here for a bit," Light said indirectly to anypony. "I am going to need to rest here for a bit if I'm going for that pegasus." Light lied down on the couch. I'm not falling asleep this time. Suddenly, a wild Pinkie appeared. "Ooh! You're going for Dashie? Make sure to tell her that Pinkie said 'Hi!'" "Um... sure, I'll be sure to say that." Why would I? She's coming back here, anyway. She'll see Pinkie! "Oh yeah... What does this 'Dashie' look like?" "Oh, she's light blue, has a rainbow colored tail and mane, and her real name is 'Rainbow Dash'. I like calling her Dashie because it's a funner name! And she loves being in the sky, in Cloudsdale, everywhere! As long as it's in the sky. She comes down to the ground sometimes, but she's usually in the air. I wish I could fly, then I would be up in the sky and I would be like 'Wee! I'm flying! Wee!'" "Um... thanks." Pinkie said goodbye and hopped away. Light rested on the couch for a while. After about an hour or so, Light got off of the couch and said, "Bye, y'all! I'll be back soon with the fifth of your friends!" Light then opened the door, went outside, closed the door, and launched up extremely high into the air. Higher than normal, because she's hunting down a pegasus. //-------------------------------------------------------// Backstory Part 2: ...come back to haunt the present. //-------------------------------------------------------// Backstory Part 2: ...come back to haunt the present. As the two foals were being brought to their new home, the couple who adopted them couldn't help but feel... strange. They just felt strange. Antsy; feeling like somepony- or, something was watching them. The couple finally got to their hope, after having that feeling for an hour or so. The couple placed down the foals, who were large enough to be considered Colt and Filly. "Welcome to your new home, you two!" the male of the couple said. The two started walking around, checking out to their new environment. It was a pretty average house for the city of Manehattan; 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom. The furniture was nothing too special, though the filly and colt sure loved it. After about an hour or so of exploring the house, the mare of the couple suddenly realized how late the time is. (I don't know what to call them; let's call them the Dinklebergs since, for some reason, it's the first thing to come to my mind. And maybe the Turners live next door. I don't know.) The mare lifted up the filly and colt, and brought them to the bed they bought. She gently put the two in, covered them in the blue blanket, and kissed both of them on the head. "Good night, you two," she said quietly, then walked out the door and silently closed it. Later that night, the Dinklebergs were awaken by their new children, crying. The stallion decided to check on them. He got up out of their bed and walked over to the filly and colts' room. He opened the door and peaked inside. There was a ball of light and a ball of... darkness inside the babies' bed. "What's going on?!" he said loudly, over the voices of the babies' crying. Suddenly, the babies calmed down and stared at the stallion; the balls quickly faded away. Mr. Dinkleberg rubbed his eyes. "Huh?..." he cooed quietly. He walked up to the two of them and looked down at them. "I knew something was interesting about you two... but... could it possibly be? N-no... it can't be... the legends can't be true..." He shook his head and walked out the door, back to his room. He remembered reading something similar to that in an ancient textbook, about how the representatives  of light and darkness, of love and hate, of creation and destruction... but it couldn't be true... could it? The stallion tucked himself into his bed. If what he thought about was true, then he and his wife would soon have a horrible fate... a very bad fate that will end both of their lives... Fast-forward many years. The two young foals grew up to become strong ponies, though the two still hate each other down to the bitter bone; nobody cares about this, thinking it's just sibling rivalry. The white one, who was called "Sister" by everypony because of what her brother called her, was a very kind, sweet-hearted mare who was kind to everypony. The other, "Brother", grew up to have stronger muscles, but not a stronger heart. He was very bitter, though he wasn't actually mean. The two grew up and got a good education. They were soon getting ready to go to college together... until that one day. Until that one day, when their full powers kicked in. It was the day when they were getting ready to go to college. "Do you have everything packed, brother?" Sister said. "I still have some more to pack, so shut up," Brother said. Sister giggled at this; she had been through years of insults, and had heard tens of thousands of them, He seemed to have a machine in his brain that came up with new ones every 10 seconds. "Alright, now I have everything," Brother said while throwing his pack over his shoulder. "Let's go." The black stallion walked out the door and the white mare followed suit. They started walking down the stairs. About halfway down the carpeted steps, Sister tripped on her backpack's string, causing her to fall onto her brother. They tumbled down and hit their heads on a wall. "Why the hell did you do that?!" Brother yelled at her clumsy sister. "It was an accident. What would be the point in falling on you? You know I'm not like tha- AAH!" Both of them suddenly got a pain in their head. It was a strange sensation on the right side of their head. It felt strange and it seemed like their memories were being changed around. After about a minute, the sensation died away. "Why did you do that?!" Brother said, rubbing his head after the pain went away. "Me doing that?" Sister replied, raising her voice. "I'm a pegasus, not a unicorn! You're the unicorn! If anyone is causing this, it's you!" "Oh, so now you blame me for for everything? Why don't I just-" "What's all of the commotion?" yelled a male voice from around the corner. The two became quiet as they saw their elderly parents walk up to them. "Seriously? We're not even off to college yet and you still fight! Can't you two just not fight for 2 seconds?" The brother and sister looked at each other through gritted teeth. "Alright, you two, let's get going." The siblings rolled their eyes and began following their parents. While the parents were about to open the door, the sensation returned to the black and white ponies, only exponentially worse. They fell to the ground, hooves on their heads. Sister slowly dragged herself to a wall a few feet away, while Brother just lay there. The mother was panicking while the father ran outside, yelling for help. Eventually, the ponies seemed to have had their pains subside, but they still just lay there with an expressionless face. The mother got the father to come back inside; they just stared there, looking at their children with a tear in their eye. They were convinced they had a stroke, and... died. "I don't know how this could happen, they were so young..." the father said. "...un-unless..." he stuttered. "Unless, what, honey?" the mother said. "Unless... the old legends were true..." "What old legends are you talking about? Did you know this would happen?" "Many years ago, there was a night where the babies were crying, and I went to go check on them... they were beginning to grasp their powers by creating orbs of light and darkness, but I thought I was hallucinating... I might not have been, and these two are the creations of light and darkness... and this... this is when they get their powers, by having... this. And, if everything I just said is true, then we're going to... no..." "What?! What's going to happe-" She cut off mid-sentence when they saw their son start to move around. "Brother! You're aliv-" Suddenly, he opened his eyes and mouth, to only find pure darkness emanating from them. The two parents slowly backed away. "...It's true..." the father said. He hugged his wife tightly. "I'm so sorry this has to happen, honey..." "W-what?" stuttered the wife. "What's going to happen?" "The caretakers of them... in the legend... they..." he gulped. "Get killed by their children..." "N-no!" his wife replied. "It can't be true! We can't die! They wouldn't kill us!" She looked at her "son", who was levitating up into the air. Suddenly, he gained a big smile, and fired a spell from his horn at the two elderly ponies. For the first time, a heart- no, two hearts- were getting a blast of darkness, causing them to become the evil versions of themselves, though they lay on the ground, knocked out. "AHAHAH!" he laughed. From behind him, sister was starting to gain consciousness again. She raised herself off of the ground, facing the back of her brother, though she kept her eyes closed. Brother apparently heard her rustling, and turned around to see his sister. "Ah... you're up... but I have already succeeded..." Sister looked down. "You will never win, brother." She suddenly looked up and opened her eyes, revealing pure light, similar to when a unicorn gets a sudden surge of magic. She slowly lifted herself into the air, closing her eyes again. When she was about a foot up, she opened her eyes again and fired a laser spell at her fallen parents. Their hearts began to regain the love... but it was too much for their old hearts to handle. They got up for the last time. "The legends... they are true..." the dad said. "Why did this have to happen to us?" "Why us?" the mom said "Why?" "Sister... your brother will do more of this... when he does, save them. We're too old for us to handle this, but others aren't..." "We're relying on you..." The two parents simultaneously fell to the ground, losing their life. The siblings snapped out of their spell and looked at their parents' bodies that lie on the floor. "We... we killed them..." Sister said. "We killed them?" Brother said, snapping to Sister. "WE killed them?! You killed them!" Sister looked at her brother. "Brother, we had an equal amount of reason to be blamed for this. Don't blame it on me. Put away your old self. Our parents ARE DEAD!" She started getting a tear in her eye. "That's the point... for this, you must die!" He began charging a spell- no, THE spell. "We do not have to fight!" Sister said, sniffling. She began lifting up and charged her laser. Then, they shot simultaneously, lasers hitting each other. It caused a small explosion at the epicenter. "We do not need to this! Please, stop now!" "NO! WE SHALL FIGHT TO THE END!" he made his shot even more powerful. "Please, stop this!" Sister began getting tears down her face. She made her shot more powerful, causing the epicenter to go back to the middle of them. But the building could not handle this. The whole building exploded, causing the two to fly out half a mile. They eventually woke up and went back to their home, or the remains of it. Many ponies were by the house, though the police  barricaded it off. Brother and Sister met up, not even looking at each other. They jumped over the barricade and walked up to a policepony. "You're not aloud to jump over the barricades!!" he yelled. "This is our home," Brother said in monotone. "Then what happened?!" the policepony replied. "We fought," Sister replied. "We are the creations of light and darkness. We killed our parents and destroyed this house." "You... you..." the policepony replied. "No..." He looked down and shook his head. "Those old legends are true... just... both of you... you're banished from this community. You may never come back. Leave. Now." Sister had a look of shot on her face, while brother was angry. "This is all your fault," he said. "We will leave each other. And we shall never see each other again. Goodbye." He walked off to an exit of the city. Sister just stood there, looking at him, until he was no longer in sight. She sighed. "Why did this have to happen?" She turned around and walked to the other exit of the city. "I have no choice but to walk... and see where my hooves take me..." She closed her eyes and began walking, because that's the only thing she'll be doing for a long time. After 2 days of walking, she was looking at a mountain. A very tall one. Thousands of feet high. "I know I can just fly over this..." she said to herself. "But I think this is the edge of Equestria. Leaving Equestria is not a solution to anything. And... we were never supposed to be split when we gained our powers... I guess I'll have to go find him and fix whatever he's doing... even if it means I have to kill him." She closed her eyes and turned around. She had been walking for another 5 days. She saw town on the horizon; she flew up into the air and sped towards it. But, she noticed dark clouds over it, and it only. That must be where he is.He must have created the clouds. Huh, he must have learned some new tricks while I was gone. After a couple of minutes, she was at the gates of the town. Inside, she saw many angry-looking ponies. She calmed herself and looked into their hearts, which was an ability she discovered she could use. But, she saw that the hearts of the ponies were shrouded by darkness. Shit, he's already here. //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 5: Saving Loyalty //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 5: Saving Loyalty Light was up in the air, looking around for a flying pegasus pony to catch. She tried to see a pony lying on a cloud, but she had no luck finding one. Whoosh A blue... thing with a rainbow trailing behind it sped in front of Light, scaring her and causing her to fly back a bit. She looked around to find it, but couldn't find who did it. Whoosh It happened again. "Show yourself, coward!" she yelled into the distance. "Who are you calling a coward, weakling?" said a voice to her left. She turned in that direction and saw a blue pegasus pony with a rainbow mane in front of her. "Ah, there you are," Light said. "Time to get you." "Yeah, but have fun catching me!" she dashed away at sonic speeds. "Challenge accepted." She forced out her wings and sped at what was hopefully Light's target. She forced her wings behind her, strong enough to make the wind be forced out for about... 10 feet. She went what was fast for her, though nothing compared to the speeds her target went at. The blue mare was at a pace that was almost twice the speed of Light... I did not mean to make that joke at first... Okay, continuing on... I can't fly that fast! Light thought. I guess I have one choice: Use deceit. Somehow trick her to allow me to catch up to her... but how? I'm not a genius... but I'm pretty sure I'm smart enough. She stopped herself, allowing herself to fly in one spot, wings flapping around her. She just stayed in the same spot, staring at the rainbow streak in front of her. After a few seconds, the blue pegasus stopped and turned around. "What?" she yelled at Light. "Am I too fast for you? Here, let me slow down so you can put on your training wheels!" She turned around and started flying at half her old pace, which was just barely slower than how fast Light went. After a few seconds, she stopped and turned around again. "What are you just afraid, wimp?" Light just stayed at the same spot, grinning. "Fine! Enough chasing games! I guess I'll destroy you if exhaustion won't!" So that was her plan, huh? She just stared at the blue pegasus charging towards her at what was barely under the speed of sound. When she was only a few yards away, Light dodged to the side, causing the charging mare to miss; she quickly slowed down, and turned around. "So that's how you're gonna fight, huh? Fine, no Misses Nice-Mare!" she charged back Light, who still just stared at the blue mare. The rainbow-maned pony flew right in front of Light and threw a jab at Light, but she swiftly dodged it. Then rainbow mare threw more kicks and punches at Light, though she dodged all of those. "How..." she said between a breath. "How... did you dodge all of those?" Light just grinned still. "You have simple thoughts and a simple heart. It was easy. Now that you've managed to knock yourself out by just throwing weak attacks and flying, I guess I might as well use my spell now." She began charging her laserified spell. (YES, THAT IS A WORD NOW.) She fired it straight at the chest of the rainbow mare, faster than she could react. While the light was being restored, Light realized she was quickly losing energy. But if she lost too much, she wouldn't just simply collapse. No. She was flying in the middle of the air; that would lead to her dying a clumsy, painful death by plummeting to the ground below her. She knew she was finishing the spell, but she couldn't take it anymore. Her breathing slowed and her wings stopped flapping; she was falling to the her doom. "No..." was the last thing she said before losing her last bit of energy. But she wasn't falling alone; her target lost her consciousness, also. The two pegasi fell from the sky, falling through clouds as they await their doom. The blue mare slow woke up from her daze, shaking her head; she suddenly realized she was falling from the sky. She quickly gained the energy to flap her wings to stop herself from falling. "W-What happened?" She shook her head. Suddenly, something white fell in front of her. "What was that?!" She looked lower and saw that it was another pony. "Who is that?!" She just stared at the pony. "Ah! I need to save her!" She quickly turned down and started speeding at the falling pony. She sped at super speeds, trying to save this pony she doesn't know. She knew that a sonic rainboom would give her enough speed to successfully save the pony, but she doesn't have nearly enough energy to dare perform that... Well, maybe she did, but it would knock her out... But it was her being knocked out or a pony dying... "Well, here I go!" She did a loop-de-loop (or whatever it is) and began flying faster than before. She was going at an incredible speed. She had finally caught up to the white pony... but she lost it; a barrier formed in front of her, preventing the sonic rainboom from happening. "I may not be able to do my sonic rainboom... but I'm not letting that get in front of me!" She forced herself into the barrier; she managed to shatter it, allowing her to continue on. She pushed herself a bit harder and eventually got low enough for her to save the pony by getting her to land on her back. "Oof!" she puffed as the pony landed on her. She slowly descended down to the ground, finally getting her hooves back on the ground. Before she could get this pony she doesn't know off of her safely, she collapsed and whited out. Light eventually dazed awake, looking around; she was lying on the grass by another pony, who was knocked out cold. "Hey, hey," she said drunkenly. "I know you." She shook her head. "What the heck am I doing? I'm not drunk."  She looked at the other pony and poked her. "Hey." She poked her again. "Hey." Again. "Wake up." Again. "Come on." Again. "Wake up." The blue mare started to daze awake. She looked at Light. "H-Hey, I know y-" Light interrupted, "No, you're not drunk or hungover either." The blue mare shook her head then rubbed it. "Ugh, where am I? And who are you? Didn't I, like, just save you?" Light replied, "Yes. And things are too complicated to explain in a few minutes. Right now, I have to take you to Fluttershy's cottage." Light started walking away, but the blue mare just stayed in the same spot. Light noticed this later and turned around. "You comin'?" The pony replied, "No. Why should I trust you? I saved you, you didn't save me. And why do we have to go to Flutter's cottage? And I still don't know who you are!" Light face-hooved her self. "I'm Light. You're Rainbow Dash, right?" "Yep! Only the greatest flyer in Equestria going to join the Wonderbolts soon, and-" Light interrupted, "Keep the gloating for later. My brother came here, made everypony evil, and I've been saving your friends, and I have 1 left, and we have to save your princess, and I have to kill my brother, and I have no idea what happens after that." "W-Wait. You have to kill your brother? That's pretty brutal." "It's complicated. Let's just say things haven't gone too well, and I'm the creation of Light, and he's the creation of Dark, and we were supposed to never be split up, but we were, and now either 1 or both of us is going to die." "That... doesn't sound good." "Nooooo, really?". Light finished sarcastically. "Come on. Let's go." The other mare still didn't move. "Really?" Rainbow Dash just stared at her. "I still don't know why I should trust you." Light yelled, "BECAUSE IF YOU DON'T COME WITH ME, YOU'LL BUCKING DIE!!" The two just stared at each other for a few moments as Light's voice echoed. They heard many voices of in the distance. "...Oh shit." "Wait, what did you just do?" Rainbow Dash said in a panicked voice. "I just attracted the horde." "You what?!" "Every single evil pony in this town just heard it. They're coming to kill us..." "What?!" "We need to fly back to Fluttershy's cottage. Fast. And now." The two saw hundreds of ponies running towards them in the distance. "Why should I still trust you?!" Rainbow Dash yelled over the stomping hooves as Light flapped her wings and flew into the air. "Fine! Kill yourself! I don't give a buck! We can just save Equestria without you!" Light started to fly away at a very fast speed. Rainbow Dash stared back and forth between the white mare who was flying away and the mob of angry ponies, who come closer every second. "Okay, okay! I'll go!" Rainbow Dash flew up into the air and flew towards Light. When she eventually caught up, Light asked her, "So you didn't want to commit suicide?" "Shut up! We need to get to Fluttershy's cottage before they manage to catch up to us!" "Agreed!" The two sped off to Fluttershy's cottage, which wasn't too far away. The two landed and went inside to see the four ponies inside... and a party going on. "Welcome back, Light!" Pinkie said, appearing from nowhere. "Since you're new to Ponyville, I decided to-" Light shoved a hoof in her mouth. "There's no time for a party. We need to pack out crap and go." Fluttershy walked up to Light, wearing a cone-shaped party hat with butterflies on it, just like her cutie mark. "Um... W-Why?" Light replied, "Because we just got chased by nine thousand and one evil ponies, and they want to destroy us all. So... anypony here got a plan for fighting a trillion ponies?" //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 6: Saving Friendship //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 6: Saving Friendship All of the other ponies went to the windows and saw the angry mob of ponies coming towards them. They were all soon panicking. "Alright, everypony just calm down," Light exclaimed. The other ponies were still scared. "Please, calm down!" Her words were still ineffective. "QUIET!!" she yelled; the other ponies calmed down. "Alright, how do we defeat them? We're outnumbered nine thousand and one to six. Any suggestions?" Nopony piped up. "Crap. Okay, there goes my plan, since my plan was to leach off another plan." All of the ponies just stared at her. "...Um... Okay! I think I may have a plan... but I'm not sure if it'll work. If it doesn't work, then, well, we all die!" She exclaimed in a sarcastically happy voice. "Well, what is it?" Rainbow Dash asked. "Nothing!" Light gained a big smile and threw her hooves in the air. "Are y'all crazy?" Applejack asked. "Yes!" Light answered, staying in the same stance. "Yes I am!" "Well, that just won't work, dear!" Rarity said. Light lost her smile and put her hooves down. "Actually, since there's a total of 6 ponies with a high amount of light, our harmony will make them too scared to attack." The other ponies were awe-struck at this logic. "Are y'all sure that'll work?" Applejack asked. "I have no idea!" Light replied. "Well, actually, I was just born with that logic... or technically, created, since I was never born... Bah, I hate my past." Everypony was apparently lost. "Okay! Let's go!" She started walking towards the door, but nopony else moved. "How and why should we trust you?" Rainbow Dash asked. "Because this is our only chance of survival. Unless you all want to die while I go get your other friend and we save Equestria, I recommend we stay together." The ponies went silent for a few moments. Light got her sarcastic smile again. "Okay, let's go." She started walking towards the door again, though no ponies followed still. "Oh come on! What do I have to say for you to believe me?!" Everypony was still silent. "Okay, screw this! I'll just go save your friend and beat my brother ourselves!" She walked right up to the door and opened it; the sound of hundreds of hooves walking drummed loudly on the ground. "Buh-bye!" She was about to launch herself into the air when she heard a voice behind her. "W-Wait," Applejack said. Light turned around. "Yes?" "Ah'm coming with you," Applejack said proudly, stepping forward. "And I'm coming, too!" Pinkie said in her regular peppy voice, though with a sense of strength in it. "And I shall tag along, also!" Rarity said. "And so am I!" Fluttershy said with a strong voice. The ponies sat there, waiting for the last pony to finish. "You comin', Rainbow?" Applejack asked. "N-No! W-Why should I just trust you?!" Rainbow Dash stepped back awkwardly. "You're not scared, are you?" Applejack smiled. "What?! N-No!" She another step back. "Yep, she is!" Pinkie teased. "Rainbow Dash the chicken! Buck- bawk!" She made chicken noises. "I'm not a chicken!" Rainbow Dash stomped her hoof. "Ah think you are!" Applejack joked. "No I"m not!" Rainbow Dash slammed her hoof onto the ground, silencing the other ponies. "Fine! I'll come with you to prove I'm not a chicken!" Light stared out the door and saw the mob of ponies was less than a mile away. "Okay, okay, great," Light rushed her words. "Now let's go before we get trapped in and have to do a final stand by fighting for our lives." "But-" Applejack began. "Too bad!" Light interrupted. "Just come on!" She opened the door and walked outside, this time to be followed by the five other ponies; they walked forward a few meters. She just stood there and watched the hundreds of ponies come close. She got into a battle stance, though, if her thoughts were correct, they wouldn't even have to fight them. The hundreds of evil ponies walked up to the 6 mares, then circled around them. "Are you sure this'll work?" Rainbow Dash asked. "Nope," Light replied. "And if it doesn't, I swear I'll punch myself in the face a million times in the oblivion." Rainbow Dash stared at her. "Yeah... Have fun with that." Light changed her focus to the evil ponies in front of her. "So... Are you fools going to attack us?" She just stared at the antsy ponies in front of her. "I knew it; darkened ponies are always weak cowards." She noticed that this seemed to make the other ponies angry, though they still didn't attack. Light chuckled. "Okay, let's go. They're too scared to attack us." She started walking away, with the five scared ponies walking behind her. She went up to one of the evil ponies and it ran away, leaving an opening in the circle for them; they all walked away while the evil ponies just stood there, not daring to move. "Okay, that's one obstacle dodged. Now, where does your last friend live?" "She lived in a library in the middle o' town," Applejack replied. "And what does it look like?" Light asked. "It's a tree." "Huh... Interesting... I've never heard of a pony living in a tree before... This place is so much different from where I used to live." She looked around, admiring the town. "There it is!" Pinkie randomly exclaimed, scaring the ponies. She pointed to a tree not too far away. The six walked over to it. "Huh," Light said while staring at the tree-house. "I guess we should go in." She walked up to the door and slowly turned the nob to go inside. When she was in, she looked around; it definitely was a library, since there was enough books for hundreds of IQ points to be raised. She looked around to find a new pony. Well, she found one, alright; there was a lavender pony above them. Light quickly calmed herself to see inside the pony's heart. She about to see inside it when she got a sudden pain in her head, strong enough to make her lose her focus. I hate those damned magic spells! And... that's spell's a dark one, alright. I guess I got to my conclusion in the end. She looked up at the evil pony above her. "Twi!" Applejack called to her. She started walking towards her, but Light put a leg in her way to stop the cowpony. "Don't go; she's not her," Light said in monotone. The other four ponies lined up beside Light. "Ah..." said the pony, who jumped down and landed in front of the six of them. "I knew you'd come," she said to Light, who just stared at her. "But I wasn't expecting my friends to come along with you. I'm sad; you should just stayed on this side; it's much better. I was expecting better from you all." "'Better?'" Applejack replied. "It's not right being on your side! It's evil!" Twilight chuckled. "No... I believe you're wrong. Since I've come to this side, I've been reading some... special books..." "Like what?" Light said in a deep voice. "Let's just say they're some special text books about dark magic..." Twilight replied. That would explain the spell... "Now... I guess I should show you all some of the spells I learned, shouldn't I?" she began charging a spell from her horn; however, instead of it being purple, it was a dark black. This can't be good... Light thought to herself. Suddenly, a spell was fired and it hit every single one of the other ponies; Light was knocked back a few feet, but the other ponies just fell to the ground. Light got up to see her friends unconscious. Please don't tell me... The other ponies got up and looked at Light. Shit, it is happening... Pinkie's hair suddenly popped and became straight. Yep, they're dark again. If I knew this unicorn could do that, I would have just hunted herself down by myself first! "Ah..." Twilight said to her friends. "It's good to have you back on the right side again..." "Agreed," Applejack said with a crude smile. The group of evil ponies circled around Light. Light looked around, finding a spot to slip out. Twilight said, "You came to the wrong neighborhood, mother bucker. Get her!" The six surrounding ponies charged at Light, but Light flew up into the air, making all of the ponies slam their heads together. Light flew away, but Twilight quickly charged up another spell and made it hit Light, knocking her out of the air. Light got up and looked around to find herself in a completely different room. "Huh?" she said to herself. She looked around; it was dark, and the ground was uneven. "Where am I?" "You're in my illusion," Twilight's voice rang from an infinite distance. She has dark magic! Damn illusions... Suddenly, walls rose out of the ground, making Light fall back. She noticed that these walls were mirrors. She looked into one, and she was in all of the others. "The old mirror illusion trick..." Suddenly, her reflection was wiped away from the mirrors and was replaced with Twilight. "Do you like my illusion? It was made especially for you," Twilight said. "Well, you chose the wrong trick!" Light quickly turned to her side and kicked; she hit the real Twilight. "Ah! How did you-" Twilight began. "I'll never tell my secrets!" She began attacking the unicorn. After a few attacks, she stopped. "Why did you stop attacking?" Twilight asked, face blood-stained. "This is an illusion. My attacks do naught," Light replied. "Correct," Twilight said. "But why did you attack in the first place if you knew that in the first place?" "Simple. It was to make you lose your guard!" Light closed her eyes, then reopened them with magic flowing out of them. She flew into the air, then let out a burst of light, breaking the illusion. When she landed, she saw the six ponies in front of her. "I shouldn't have underestimated you," the real, undamaged Twilight said. "No. You should have. This gives you a better ending, but for me, not so much," Light said, gulping after finishing. "And what do you mean by that?" Twilight bewildered. "You know what that means? That means this is the end of me." "I still don't understand what you're poking at." "That means I die here, today!" Light began her special spell. The extremely special one; the one that would use so much energy, it kills her. But she has no choice. She flew up into the air, then gained the magic flowing in her eyes again. She made her wings fly out, sending a giant pulse wave of light and magic around her. It hit all six of the other ponies, knocking them back. There was a giant flow of magic circling around Light; then she fell to the ground, losing her breath... permanently. The 6 ponies slowly dazed awake. "Uh... What happened?" they all said in different manners at different times. When they were all conscious and awake, Twilight noticed another pony lying on the ground. "Who's she?" she asked. "That's what's-her-name..." Rainbow Dash said. "Light, wasn't it?" "Didn't she save us all?" Applejack asked. "I think so," Fluttershy said. "We should probably get her up, shouldn't we?" Rarity asked. Twilight walked up to her and shook her; no response. She tried shaking her again, but she got the same result. She put her ear up to her chest. There was no sound. "She's... dead."
