This new species was hard to communicate with, speaking a foreign language, and were quickly engaged by the Nazi forces, despite bringing them onto the world themselves. The creatures managed to retreat under the protection of the United States, yet the portal was in the mid-Atlantic. The diplomats did not want to fight another planet's war, and therefore refused to aid. With their trust shattered by the Nazi party, and fear of being attacked by greater forces of technology, they were prepared to survive through neutrality. And the United States didn't like the sound of that one bit. The torch was taken from the U.S. when Germany invaded, using France as the source of naval power. Americans, eager to keep the peace chased them into the gateway. The Germans, finally, were pinched from their entrance, the remaining militants stranded in Vanhoover, with no hope of a way out. A cold, stale breeze swept the hills and valleys of Equestria. Mid-January brought frigid temperatures, and bad attitudes. A small flight of P-51D Mustangs soared over the coast of Filly Delphia. Below, the rubble of a once beautiful city smoked. Amongst the rubble, faint blotches of color wandered past each other, cleaning up after the scars of war dragged over the landscape. "Flight, turn heading 32, fly speed 280, altitude 3,000." I ordered, waiting several seconds before gently pushing my rudder and changing course slightly left. The flight, 3 trusted wingmen, followed the motion, falling to a slanted line to my right flank. The ground caught my gaze. I stared out of the window towards it, studying the smokestacks and rubble below. Ponies wandered about far below, they almost seemed unreal at such a distance. "Captain," a high pitched voice called over radio, "we oughta climb up a bit more, AA could shred us from here." He warned. I looked up from the flattened city, back to my instruments. "We'll be fine. It's only fifteen kilometers out from base, they wouldn't be that stupid. Besides..." I sighed. "Look what we've done to them. Those who aren't in the artillery's rubble were gunned down when the tanks rolled through. Author's Note First chapter, please post any errors I may have made in the comments, or future suggestions for me! :D //-------------------------------------------------------// First Contact //-------------------------------------------------------// First Contact My eyes fly open, filling my brain with so much data that it couldn't keep up. There's an incredibly painful feeling in my body, just everywhere. As if I had been beaten down by everyone at once. Slowly coming to, my first legitimate thought comes through. "Shit! What happened to my flight!?" I jump up, instantly regretting it as I strain my sore back. Looking around, I don't recognize where I am anymore. There's metal and glass everywhere. It's so cramped. But I can hear birds, am I dead? Is this an afterlife, or something else? My plane, my plane crashed, there's no way I'm actually still inside it. Looking around in disbelief, I realize my brain was correct. This was the mangled remains of my cockpit. Somehow nothing seemed to blow up, burn me, or impale me. I was a living, breathing, perfectly alive man inside the remains of a full-speed crashed Mustang. I... Survived. Wiggling my body, I analyze the damage. I'm covered in glass scrapes, and bled all over to shit, but I think I can move, let's give it a shot. Grabbing the side of the shattered canopy, I pull myself outside, causing a stabbing pain in my back again. Once my leg was over, I fell out of the plane and collapsed into the dirt. Eager to find help, I crawl away, sparing a slight peek back. The sight was something to behold. The entire fuselage was smothered in holes, and was smoking. the tail end was missing, and the cockpit looked to be the only thing that survived the crash. The trees were ripped in a pattern matching my crash. Turning back, I use my knees and arms to push myself up, attempting to keep my back straight to avoid discomfort. "Okay, gather your thoughts together Parker, you're in Japan, where in Japan? Fuck, I can't remember. My flight is missing, must've pulled out of the area. Good for them, they're safer out there then in the forest with me. Food, I need food. No, water. Water first." I think aloud. Something makes a noise that catches my attention, I shut up and listen closely. "Help! Anyone? I need help over here! Hello?" The calls sound like they're about 60 meters out. 'Who the fuck else lives in here?' "Please help me, I'm hurt!" It continues. 'Who the fuck cares? That sounds important.' Facing the direction of the voice, I limp in it's general direction. "Hello? I'm here, just keep talking so I can find you!" I answer. There's a moment of silence. "You still there?" I call. "Yeah, over here, please hurry up! I'm bleeding! Help!" The feminine voice answers. Limping further, I should be about 20 meters from the source. "Hello?" I call. "Over here!" It answers. That came from just to my right, I face and continue my approach. 'I really hope this person can get me out of here, I don't remember which way it friendly and which is uncharted. I hope it isn't a Jap, that'd be a pain in the ass. Oh wait, they're speaking English. And they're a girl. What girl gets stuck in the woods out here? Really now?' Reaching a small clearing, I hear the breathing, it's deep, shuddering, and fast. It's coming from just behind me to my left. Turning around, I find the source. In a small pile, was a familiar Blue creature wearing a one winged wing-suit, the creature's own wing, just below the missing machine's one, was crucially injured and has clearly bled for some time. That was irrelevant, this creature just got me stranded, and very close to dead. They broke my plane, and now it's my job to break them. They stare with complete fear, the facial details pulling away from me, as it tenses up and hides itself with it's good wing, staring through two feathers. To me, it looks ridiculous, and I'm eager to end it. Without hesitation, I reach to my vest and unholster the colt sidearm resting inside. Flicking off the safety, I check the magazine and chamber a round. Locked and loaded, I take aim at the creature's general upper area. The twitching it had before had completely vanished, and it froze like a Deer in the headlights. It stared in the most cowardish form of terror any ace had to have seen in their life. The tables have turned from me being in their sights, to quite the opposite. I put some weight on the trigger, ready for the show, before hides itself, and makes a whimpering noise that could break a heart, causing me to hesitate. After a few seconds of my inspection, it opens it's wing again, looking at me with a eye full of tears, as if it's giving up the same way I was going to before the crash. It takes a whimpering breath, and braces itself again, closing it's eyes. I regularly wouldn't have shown any attention, eager to put another one of these things in their place. But this one had some sort of strange presence. As if it was mind-controlling me. The energy this thing put off just didn't feel like a threat period. "You broke my plane..." I threaten, causing it to jump. "You ruined my wing..." It responded, shivering. "I'm a few seconds from ruining more of you." I continue. It lets a sob slip out loud, quickly covering it's mouth. I take a look around, looking at the forestry. "I'm lost out here, there isn't much way to survive all the way to the nearest friendly town." I explain. It opens a curious eye. "I'm willing to not shoot you, if you know the way back, and do everything I tell you to. If you choose to decline, I think you know the alternative." I flex my fingers gripping the colt. It's jaw drops, slowly nodding. "Good, first things first, I need to make sure you don't go anywhere I don't want you to. Hold out your arms." I order. It sheepishly stretches two stubby-looking things out from under the wing, holding still. Removing my jacket, I use my teeth to rip off the arms, before setting the jacket back on. Approaching the creature, it seemed to shrink under my presence, shivering again. I tie the two arms together, securing the knot so tight that the blood flow is likely having trouble. "Feet." I order. It looks confused momentarily, before nodding and sticking it's legs out. They looked pretty much the same, and were just as easy to tie down. "Tuck the wings in for me." I tap it. The creature jumps, before quickly folding the good wing in, the other one is pulled slowly and more carefully. Using the rest of my flight jacket, I tie them into it's midsection, preventing any sort of squirming. "Now, if you at any time don't comply, things might get ugly, alright?" I explain. It quickly nods. "Now, where's the way to the nearest town? One that your kind isn't polluting, that is." I ask. It turns it's head and nods in a direction. "That's where we came from, but all of us came from there, none of us stayed behind." It explains. "I'm trusting you now, but if there ends up being an occupying force there, I'm shooting you first." I threaten. It looks down, tears forming. 'Time for buisness.' I reach down and pick it up, to which it squirms slightly and shivers like a cold animal in the rain. I drape it's lightweight body over my shoulder so that the head was next to mine, and began to walk in the pointed direction. "Does your kind have names?" I ask out of curiosity. "Yeah, we do. I'm Rainbow Dash." She answers hesitantly. I don't really feel like introducing myself yet. "And are you the Captain of that flight?" I question. "Yeah, I was." She lets her head fall limp. "Well, you won't be flying with them again, now will you?" I tease. She takes a deep breath, and lets her body hang limp.
