Sunlight and A Kid

“Uh oh…”Nyx said.

Nyx stared at her older brother with complete shock and worry. Spike was wearing a very stern expression, which quickly turned to worry.”What did you do to your chest?!” Yelled Spike, trying to keep his voice quiet enough to not wake up the sleeping mares down the hall. Nyx looked at her chest,”Oh… I just... um... woke up with it” Spikes expression turned suspicious.”What’re you doing up this late? How did you get the cut?” Nyx sighed and looked down, shaking her head.

“I woke up with the cut...”She said, hesitating a little,”..and I had a nightmare.”

Spike sighed, “There’s nothing to worry about, Nyx, It was just a bad dream. Now let’s go get you cleaned up.” Nyx looked up, a smile planted on her face. She then winced, as she accidentally put a hoof on the cut. Chuckling nervously, she said,”Let’s just get rid of the cut.”

As they walked down the hall towards the bathroom, Spike shuffled nervously. Should I ask her… Spike thought, trying to think about what to say. As they reached the bathroom, Spike stopped at the door and asked, ”Wanna tell me about that dream?” Nyx froze.“Um…”Nyx hesitated, trying to think of a way to explain the crazy dream that occurred last night.”I guess. It’ll be pretty confusing though…”

Spike smirked,”My life is confusing with you and Sunset here.” They both shared laugh at the comment. The dragon and young alicorn entered the bathroom, Spike grabbing needed equipment from the cabinet to clean the cut. Nyx sat on the counter, shuffling awkwardly at where to start. Where to start… Maybe at the beginning of the dream, dumbo, Nyx glared at herself internally as Spike brought up the materials.

"Begin."Said Spike, as he pulled up the step stool and sat on it next to Nyx.

“Well… It started with me sitting in a stone chair…”

As Nyx told the purple dragon her dream, with only a few pauses when Nyx winced from the pain of the alcohol on her chest, he cleaned the cut with shock, fear, and confusion on his face.

“...and then I woke up grabbing my chest.” Nyx paused and thought for a second.”Guess that’s how I got my cut.” Spike let out a small chuckle and stared at Nyx with confusion,”How in the name of Celestia would you get a cut this big with only your hoof?” Nyx looked at the cut again. It was fairly large, but not too large. It dug pretty deep, only past the fur and skin. A small blush formed on Nyx’s face,”Well do you have a better idea?” She said it in a sarcastic tone which made Spike facepalm.

He put on a giant smirk,”Actually, I do” Spike said it so clearly, Nyx's face filled with surprise. “Since the Princesses were sending burning glares at you, you could have magically burned your fur in your sleep.” Nyx stood there in surprise, her jaw reaching the floor. Spike had a blank but stern frown, a small smile slowly forming. They shared the stare as if they were having a staring contest.

Nyx shook her,”Well… I guess that sorta makes sense.” Spike snickered at Nyx’s reply, going back to fixing her cut. Why would I have a nightmare about Sunset, Nyx thought, She was so startled at first. Nyx laughed slightly as she remembered Sunset’s face, but shortly getting cut off from the wince of pain that went down her gut. She then shivered remembering the sight of her own heart, When did my mind get so dark?, she shook the image out of her mind as Spike placed the bandage on her chest.

Nyx felt her cheeks heat up as she stood up,”Thanks for helping me clean up Spike. You’re a great big brother.” Spike smirked at the comment, pulling Nyx in for a hug.”Don’t mention it. Speaking of which…”Spike paused, thinking of how to say it,”You do have to tell Twilight about it, maybe even Sunset.”

Nyx froze. crap… “What!? I can’t tell Sunset, she’ll think I’m a jerk!” Spike put on a stern but worried frown.

”If you don’t tell them they’ll get curious.”

“B-But she can’t know! She’ll think I’m--”

Spike held up a claw, he sighed,”You guys have both been in a terrible situation.” Nyx stared at him, confused beyond belief. Spike took the chance to continue.

“Before you came along, Sunset was sort of a… bad guy.. She was one of Celestia’s star students, but all she wanted was glory and power.” Nyx was even more confused, It looked as if she was just hit be air and thrown a few feet, ”The portal she came from leads to the human world, she lived there most of her life, till she came back and stole Twilight’s crown. When she put one the crown in the human world she turned into a she-demon. As what Twilight has told me, 'The Magic of Friendship' saved Twilight and Sunset from her evil form.”

Nyx stood there, mouth agape. How am I supposed to reply to that? Nyx shook her head, putting her hoof to her forehead.”So she relates to me by turning into a she-demon?” Nyx asked, getting a little frustrated. “She wanted to take over Equestria, just like you did when you were Nightmare Moon.” Replied Spike, a small smirk formed on his face.

Nyx thought for a second,”I guess that’s true.” Nyx smiled slightly,”I guess I can relate to that.” Spike smiled, looking at the clock in the bathroom,”Let’s go get some breakf--” Spike was cut off by the door opening. “Well, good morning.” Said Sunset, as she stepped into the bathroom,”Were you guys gonna take a shower?” Twilight followed behind Sunset, but soon froze once she saw Nyx’s chest. Nyx eyes widened, they then turned worried as she looked at Sunset. Nyx lipped ‘help me’, as Spike backed up away from Nyx.

“Oh My Celestia! What happened to you?!” Sunset jumped out of the way as soon as Twilight galloped towards Nyx, her face filled with confusion and shock. Nyx tried to grab Twilight in her magic, but then she remembered that she couldn’t use magic that easily. Instead, Nyx ran under the alicorn and behind Sunset,”Grab her, Sunset!” Yelled Nyx in a very frantic tone.

Quickly, Sunset grabbed Twilight in her magic. The room went silent, the only sound was the rapid breathing of Nyx and Sunset’s magical sound.

“Okay.... mom.” Nyx said, slowing her breath,”I’ll tell you at breakfast.” maybe..

Twilight, slowly nodding, was hovered to the ground by Sunset. Twilight walked over to Nyx, sitting down and giving her hug. “You better..” She smiled and nodded.
