Silver Lining Under The Rainbow
An Accident That Changed My Life

-Andrew's point of view-
"Your right leg had to be amputated," Dr. Scratch explained.
'Fuck....'
It was the only thing I could think of at that exact moment. I tried to remember what happened, and only heard a car screeching in my head, making me to flinch. I felt my first wave of phantom pains on a limb that, quite frankly, no longer existed. I looked at my right leg, or, rather, lack of one, to see that it was cut off after the knee cap. I shivered when the doctor explained to me that a truck driver was drunk and T-boned the Canterlot High school bus that just happened to have all of the senior graduates inside. I was sitting in the middle of the bus; the accident caused me to break my right arm, collar bone and shattered my right leg, my fibula and tibia were broken into ten or eleven pieces. He told me that they tried to put the pieces back together, but the leg was already to the point of no return, it wasn't recognisable and just got worse over time while I was unconscious, the muscle having slowly deteriorated over time.
Then I was sitting there, limbless and slowly getting depressed,. I looked at the doctor with a small smile on my face, just to make him feel more comfortable, "How long until I get out of the Hospital?"
Dr. Sam sighed, "About half a month for treatment, then three in a half months of therapy." He glanced at the clipboard with my information, "I suppose your parents are going to cover the costs?"
'My parents are already dead.' I thought. It was true, they died when I graduated in High School due to a car accident. Funny, right? They're dead, but I survived with no right leg.
"Sorry, my parent's funding will cover it," I said.
He raised an eyebrow, "I know you're twenty-one and have a job, do you think that your parents will let you pay for it?"
I clenched my left fist, one of my only limbs I had left, "I can't really let them do that because they're dead," I said roughly, before muttering under my breath, "Apparently, you don't watch the news or read the newspaper that often."
Dr. Scratch sighed, combing one hand through his ruffled hair, "I'm sorry for your loss, and for my attitude. I'll get the nurse to order you a wheelchair and your own crutches." He left the room to let me think.
'Great... Not only do I have to leave my apartment and move to the bottom floor, if they have any rooms left, but I'm going to be handicap for the rest of my life.' I thought as I slapped my forehead. Then more memories came in that were blocked off from the crash came into mind. I felt as though I had put up a wall, and with each moment the wall was slowly getting weaker. I shuddered. I didn't even want to know what would happen when it collapse. It wasn't my fault that the school buses don't have seatbelts in the chairs, or the drunk driver slamming itself into it and choosing to sit there in the first place because there was a girl that I had a crush on who is now dead. Yes, the accident had left ten injured and five dead. No, it wasn't my fault, but I still feel so stupid for not doing anything. I kind of did see the truck coming, because I thought he was going to park in the parking spot next to us. I guess it was something that nobody expected.
There was a knock on the door and I glanced at it to see it was Nurse Redheart, "Is it a bad time?"
'No, I need company to keep me distracted so I won't go insane,' I thought, also not wanting her to be concerned, "No, it's fine, come in."
For the next hour, I chose what wheelchair to be in for the rest of my life and I got three of them. One was for regular use, around the house and just to get anywhere indoors. Second was for sports use, I was going to use my arms to exercise since walking is barely available to me. Third was for when I go out into the city of Canterlot. The next thing was for me to get a prosthetic leg for my right thigh, I only ordered one of those. Then the last thing was to either sign up for Dr. OcSid's research program, to which I declined. I didn't want to mess with someone who was richer than even me, and that is saying a lot.
"Is there anything else you need?" Redheart asked.
I shook my head, "Nothing else in particular."
She smiled, "Your insurance should be able to cover the costs."
"Thank you."
Redheart got up and left the room with a goodbye leaving me alone in the dark of my room again. To which I sing to myself, "Hello Darkness, my old friend..."
'I've come to talk to you again...' I thought as I slowly fall asleep for the night.
-Four Month Later-
"Well, Mr. Sandre, your broken arm and collarbone have healed, so you can leave the hospital. Also, your passed your therapy so a nurse doesn't have to monitor you." Dr. Scratch explained.
"The bill, please?" I asked hinting that I wanted to get out of this white hell hole.
"Your parents' funds have paid off the bill, here's your receipt." He said handing me the paper.

'I'm going to have to check the bank after I get myself settled,' I said mentally, quickly adding it to the growing list of things I needed to do, 'I hope they have a wheelchair ramp.'
"You guys need to stop charging on so many things." I said to which he chuckled.
"Majority of the money is to keep this hospital going and to pay the staff." Dr. Sam said as he stacked my medical history into his arms.
I sighed in understanding as I adjusted my body to sit on the wheelchair. "The equipment will be delivered to my new apartment?" I asked.
He nods as he made his way to the door, "Yes, in about a week or so."
"Alright, I guess this is goodbye then."
He smirked, "Thanks for being my best patient."
It was true, I was his best out of all of them. It was probably the fact that I was silent the entire month on sitting on a hospital bed. He and I would have a conversation when he wanted to ask for my attention. Nurse Redheart tried to make me talk when she put me through therapy. It worked, but nothing else happened after the session. I just wasn't in the mood.
"You're welcome, see you later." I said when he left.
I sighed again, 'I'm jobless, only have three quarters of my limbs, and have lost my way in the great, stormy sea of depression. I don't even know what I want to do in life,' I thought as I swung my backpack full of my belongs on the wheelchair. With my hands, I moved the wheel forward and made my way out of the hospital. Without thinking, I've made it to the stairs to only remember that I was in this state. I loved walking on the stairs, it gets your heart pumping and if used correctly, is a great exercise routine. I turned around and headed to the elevator. I could feel the stares from everybody that we're looking down at me. Now I knew how short people felt when they're surrounded by tall people, it's scary in some way. I avoided eye contact from everybody until I made it out of the glass doors to breathe in the fresh air.
My apartment is walking... er... wheelchair distance from the hospital and it so happens that the park was the only shortcut. I wheeled myself across the street and towards the entrance. I had to push myself up the hill, on the sidewalk and admired the view of the park. The open-air concert was to my left and the huge fields, picnic area and parking lot to my right. I leaned forward and let the wheelchair move forward down the hill. I'm kind of addicted of going fast before I went to the hospital, running and anything that got my heart rate up felt amazing. I felt the wind rush beside my ears as the adrenaline pumped into my heart. Then I slowly pushed both of the brakes to slow my wheelchair down, once I reached the bottom, I released them to get that leftover speed.
"Ah, that's the feeling I missed." I said aloud to nobody present.
I pushed my wheels as I made my way across the fields. I noticed how there were some Canterlot High residents present in the area, stapling flyers on trees, posts and the public advertisement board. I glance at the poster that it was an event of soccer being held in the soccer field around 5 am. It was a junior team that was playing, but since I was bound to a hospital bed, I didn't have a chance to see the Baseball League season for four months. I decided to open my schedule for the night to see some sports. Who knew, maybe I'd meet up with some new people.
The event was going to start in about three hours, so I made haste and headed back to my apartment. I used to live in an apartment complex that had several floors, but when I was in the hospital, I had to return my apartment (which was room 204) to the owner and someone else bought it immediately. With the restraints I had, I bought my new house with what I had left in savings. The house only had one of everything in it, but I wasn't complaining about that, the location was near the park and the downtown area. The only thing I was complaining about was how the movers had dropped my mom's flower pot, my dad's anvil, my grandparents cart of hay and my piano from the moving truck. They paid me back for the damages and I was happy that they did that, but they seriously needed to train these guys better.
I was rambling in my thoughts so much that my left toe stubbed the wall of my house. I hissed and cursed under breath by the pain that pulsed through my foot. 'Ouch.' I thought as I wheeled myself to the front door. I unlocked the door and pushed myself inside.
"Time to unpack my things and head to the soccer game." I said as I headed to my packed boxes.
-Rainbow's point of view-
"You are going to rock that soccer game Scootaloo." I announced happily and, hopefully motivating her.
"Yeah!" Scoot's cheered, "If we were able to win in the Sisterhood Social, I can ace this game."
"You say that as if I didn't do all the work," I teased, ruffling her hair.
Scootaloo and I were hanging out in the park at our usual spot. We hung out on the soft, hill grass, but today was different. Scootaloo had entered the Soccer League for juniors and I'd been cheering her on for the whole time. Scootaloo and her team were winning each game, and now they were in the semi-finals against the Crystal Middle School team. She was a little nervous, but I gave a few good 'ole Dash speeches and she was pumped about the game.
"I can't wait to win this and head to the finals with my team," she grinned.
I smirked, "You know it's not all about the winning. Just make sure you're having fun out there."
Scoot chuckled, "I know, I'm having fun, otherwise I wouldn't be in this League in the first place."
I ruffled her hair with my hand, "I wouldn't have it any other way squirt." I felt my skirt pocket vibrate and I pulled out my phone. It was a text from Sunset saying 'Having a great time with Zephyr at the pizza parlor.' I sighed, those two are always so Lovey Dovey and I just can't help but get the feeling that I was being left out. I put my phone away to see Scootaloo looking a bit worried.
"Everything alright?" She wondered.
'Crap, can't let myself get down like this,' I thought as I put on a smile. "Just a little jealous, but don't worry about that. Once the match is over, I'll take you over to Sugarcube corner for the celebration."
That cheered her up, "I can't wait! You're the best!" Then she suddenly hugged me and I hugged her back.
I glanced at my watch to see that the match was going to start in thirty minutes and I cut our little moment short to tell her. She ran to her scooter as I grabbed my skateboard. Scootaloo and I raced our way towards the soccer field, the wind against my skin felt amazing. I wished I had my wings so I could go faster, but I can only do that if my loyalty or music comes into play. Which was kind of a bummer because I couldn't activate it with my own will. Scootaloo parted ways with me and headed to the locker room to get changed. I headed to the bleachers, where everybody was seated to see the awesome game that was going to take place. Though there was one problem, everyone was in couples.
This made me sigh even more, it was a total downer that I saw everyone that graduated with me already had a special someone with them. All except Rarity, Applejack, Fluttershy, Twilight from Crystal Prep, and Pinkie didn't have that kind of opportunity when we were in Canterlot High. With all the creatures and incident that occurred at the Friendship Games, we sort of didn't have time for that kind of mushy stuff.
'It's something that I want, though...' I thought as I scoffed quietly in disgust. What am I saying? I could never be in a relationship, I'm way too busy with my life right now. Since I graduated four months ago, I've been striving to earn my degree in Physical Education so I can become a coach for Canterlot High. I nodded my head softly, 'No Lovey Dovey stuff until I get my degree.' I mentally agreed with my statement.
I walk down the bleachers and found an open spot at the front. I found a guy sitting on the bleachers, and nobody else was sitting next to him. I wondered why until I saw the wheelchair and the lack of a right leg. I shivered as the thought of my own leg getting lopped off and felt pain rattle my body. I glanced at his facial features and thought he was cute, and he had that lonely look upon his eyes. He kinda reminded me of the time I first met Flutters.
'I'm just going to sit next to him and talk before the game begins.' I thought, thinking about the agreement I made before. I sat next to him on his right and couldn't help but to stare at his leg and ponder what had happened to him. Was it a military accident? Did he have to cut off his leg so he could get back home safely? I slapped myself internally, I haven't spoke to this guy for even a second and I'm thinking about what happened to his leg... I need to lay off on the adventure books.
"You want to know what happened?" He asked, snapping my train of thought.
"Huh?" I asked.
He turned his attention to me, "Do you want to know what happened to my right leg?"
"Uh..." 'Think you, idiot!' I thought and continued, "If it's, y'know, not too much trouble," I said, trying to play it cool.
He smirked a bit, "My leg got amputated in a bus accident."
I remembered the accident, Zephyr, the girls and I decided not to get that bus to head back to school. Big Mac, Applejack's brother, brought Granny Smith's van and offered the ride. Five people died in that accident and that man was put into jail for Driving Under the Influence. I immediately responded to his comment.
"I heard about that accident! A drunk man in a truck that T-boned the bus." My eyes widened, "You were in it?"
He nodded, "I was lucky, my right leg was cracked in twenty places to where it was unrepairable."
I gulped, "Are you going to be alright?" 'Why did I ask that question?!' I mentally shouted.
He sighed, "I'll be fine, the bill was paid and now I can find myself a job at Canterlot High."
"That's good." I sighed in relief and leaned out my hand, "The name's Rainbow Dash."
"Andrew Sandre," He shook my hand, "A pleasure."
"Sorry for asking, it must be, like, super weird to be asked about your leg." I scratched the back of my head.
He chuckled, "It's fine, you're the first one to ask me that actually."
I raised an eyebrow, "Am I really? Or are you trying to use that as a pickup line?" I finished with a teasing smirk.
He raised his arms and waved them, "I-I didn't mean!"
I laughed, punching his shoulder lightly, "Relax, I was only kidding."
He sighed with relief, "By the stars, you were going to give me a heart attack."
I chuckled more, "But it was funny, though."
Andrew stuck out his tongue in response and we laughed together. I opened my eyes to see that the teams were meeting up with each other and I glanced at the scoreboard. The timer was set and the players got into position. Scootaloo was facing another girl from the rival team. The coach walked up between them, threw the ball up and blew the whistle. I guess time flies when you're talking to new people. I didn't even notice the crowd of people cheering to the team.
"Go Canterlot High!" Andrew shouted.
"Yeah! Go!!" I shouted.
'He's more supportive to Canterlot High...' I smirked, 'This guy is interesting.' Andrew and I watched and cheered with the audience as the game went on. The points were five Canterlot High and four Crystal Prep with five minutes left on the clock. Though I noticed that some of the Crystal Prep team members were giving looks with one another. Something big was coming and Canterlot High was unprepared.
"They're going to do something." Andrew spoke.
I glanced at him, "You noticed it too?"
"I played all sorts of sports before my accident and the enemy team is about to attempt something to make it a tie."
I chuckled slightly, "Yeah, I'm the same, I became captain of the Wonderbolt Soccer team for two years and I had to learn when the other team was going to strike."
Andrew's jaw drops as I heard the whistle being blown by the coach. My eyes look at the field to see that Scootaloo was down with her left leg facing in another direction. The sound of her crying out made me jump out of my seat and ran towards her position.
"SCOOTALOO!!" I shouted.
-Andrew's point of view-
"Fucking hell..." I said aloud.
What I saw at the field was the form of sabotage. Crystal Prep just happens to score a point, making it tied and just accidentally injure the Captain's assistant after scoring. Rainbow jumped, shouted Scootaloo's name and ran towards the field to save her. I adjusted my body to sit on my wheelchair and pushed towards the locker room. I glanced around my surroundings and found the first aid kit near the entrance. I grabbed it, grabbed a wooden cricket bat and rushed towards the field. 'There is no way this girl is going to lose her leg.' I thought as I quickly made my way to the scene.
This girl... She was still crying her eyes out and who wouldn't? Her shin was broken in a ninety-degree angle to the left, the broken area was bleeding out into the grass and everyone, but Rainbow was staring at her.
"Get out of the way!" I shouted as I pushed everybody out of the way.
"Give her some space!" Rainbow demanded.
I pointed to the coach, "Where's the nurse?!"
"She's off today-" I cut him off, grabbed his shirt and hissed into his ear, "Call the motherfucking ambulance or this girl will lose her leg."
His skin became pale and nodded as he headed back to the dugout, where the team members were waiting, to call the authorities. I got out of my wheelchair and say right next to the girl named Scootaloo.
"It hurts!!!" She screamed.
"It's going to be alright, Scootaloo." Rainbow said as she stroked her hair.
'Thanks for that Rainbow, now I can, at least, comfort her.' I thought. "Scootaloo," I asked for her attention.
"Who are you?" She was breathing heavily.
"I'm an acquaintance of Rainbow Dash, I'm here to help you," I explained.
Rainbow, glanced at the materials I had and looked at me with wide eyes, "You're going to do this on the field?!"
'Well, the cat's out of the bag then,' I thought as I took out the Moleskine.
"W-what is he g-going to do?" Scootaloo gasped as she winced in pain.
I gulped, "I'm going to put your leg back into place."
Scootaloo's eyes were as big as dinner plates, "N-!"
Rainbow covered her mouth, "Listen, Scoots, it's the only way until the ambulance comes."
"It's going to hurt!!! Don't do it!!" She pleaded.
I looked at her fellow teammates and spoke, "You!" I pointed to a boy, "Get a towel and you!" I pointed to the girl, "Hold her arms down. We need to to this quick!"
They immediately did what I told them to and I lifted the broken area and put a towel underneath it. I gave Scootaloo a thick cloth for her to bite on and told her to bite into it as much as she could.
I looked at Rainbow, "I want you to hold her back as much as you can while I do this." She nodded as she held her left arms and covered her eyes.
"Scootaloo, be brave and brace yourself for the pain." I said as I got a nod from her. I glanced at the leg and I knew I had to move it to the right. I grabbed the leg with my hands and slowly put it back into place. Her screams were muffled through the cloth as she bit on it. I pulled the leg up and attached the broken bone to where it was before. Scootaloo struggled and squirmed, it's really painful for me to see someone suffer, but it will be good for her in the long run. There was an audible shlop!
Scootaloo spat out the cloth as she shouted, "GAH!!!!!"
"Almost done, you're doing great. Let me just use this moleskin and a cricket bat to keep that leg in place." I explained.
She was breathing in and out to calm down and slowly relaxed, "O-ok..."
I put an ouchless pad on the open wound and wrapped it up with the provided dressing. I place the cricket bat to the right of her thigh and wrapped it with the moleskine. Scootaloo hissed as I tightened the moleskin around her leg.
I sighed and put my hand on her shoulder, "You're going to be just fine now. The ambulance is on its way."
"T-Thanks..." Scootaloo said as she fainted.
"S-Scoots?" Rainbow got worried when she suddenly went to sleep.
"Don't worry, she's exhausted from what just happened," I explained.
Rainbow sighed with relief, "Thank the stars..."
-Two hours later-
It was very eventful when the authorities came to the soccer field. The school board showed up and demanded to know what was going on. They interviewed the crowd, including me, with officers right next to them. As it turns out, one of the girls from Crystal Prep 'accidentally' kicked Scootaloo to where her shin broke out of place. Yeah, it wasn't an accident, this was something planned to make the game end on a tie. I know the Crystal Prep has been losing against Canterlot since the Friendship Games, but to go to this extent makes my blood boil. Even Rainbow, after they put Scootaloo in an ambulance, was ranting to the coach of the Crystal Prep team on banning the team member who did this Scoots.
The game ended with a tie and it bummed everyone out. Rainbow invited me to the Ambulance to be with Scootaloo and to call her relatives. Scootaloo was still asleep at the time while the nurse and driver sat at the front. While we made our way back to the hospital, Rainbow and I were just silent. I was pretty sure that Rainbow didn't know what to say to me after what I done to save Scootaloo and I was the same way.
I decided to break the silence, "Are you alright?"
Since I didn't know much about Rainbow, it was all I could say to her. She had her head down and seemed upset.
"I'm alright, just, uh, just need to bounce back...." She answered. "Thanks for saving her."
I raised my arms, "I was just doing what was right and..." I looked at Scootaloo's face, she was slightly flinching in pain while her eyes were closed, "I didn't want her to lose her leg..." I mumbled.
"What was that?" Rainbow asked.
I sighed and repeat what I just said, "I didn't want her to lose her leg."
She was surprised at first, but stared at my legs, realized something and said, "Oh."
We were both silent again for awhile until Rainbow spoke, "Where did you learn how to fix a leg like that?"
I smiled a bit, "I learned it from Boy Scouts actually. They have manuals on how to fix a broken..." I shrugged, "Anything."
I saw her smile a bit, she was calming down now. "Glad you were here today otherwise... I don't know what I would have done."
"Hey, no one knew that they were going to do this. Besides the nurse told us that Scootaloo isn't going to lose her leg, which is good news."
She leaned back and stared at the window to her left, "I guess that's good, but.... It still worries me that the Crystal Prep students are doing shady things to win. It's like the Principal of their school is influencing them to win at whatever cost."
I reached over and touched her shoulder, "Maybe, but right now let's worry about my new friend that I saved today."
She smiled a bit and pushed my hand away, "Thanks, I needed that."
"Rainbow Dash..." Scootaloo groaned in her sleep and Rainbow rested her hand on Scoots forehead. Her breath slowed when she did that and I smiled. 'They have some sort of bond even though Scootaloo is asleep.' I thought.
The ambulance came to a stop and took Scootaloo to the Emergency Room to take a look at the damage. Rainbow and I had to wait in the lobby while this was happening. Rainbow stood up when a women, wearing matching color shirt and skirt with sunflowers on it came in.
"Where is Scootaloo?" She asked Rainbow.
"She's in the operating room to check on her leg, Miss Cheerilee" Rainbow explained.
"Who's this?" Cheerilee demanded as she points to me.
I cleared my throat, "My name is Andrew and I'm the one who relocated her shin into its proper place."
Cheerilee was surprised at what I said, saw my leg and sighed, "Sorry. I'm just stress out that this happened to my sister while I was grading my students' homework."
'Sister?' I thought. Where are her parents then? I didn't want to say anything, but at the same time I had to ask. "Where are her parents?" I asked.
They both looked at me like I just said something taboo and Rainbow said it straight out, "They have already past."
I frowned, "Oh... I'm sorry about what I said."
Cheerilee shook her head, "No, it's alright. It's a common saying that a lot of people make, so don't worry about it."
That cheered me up just a bit, but when I was about to speak, the doctor came out of the operating room. It was Dr. Scratch, he walked up to me and glanced at Cheerilee.
"Scootaloo's leg is going to be fine. Mr. Sandre did the right thing to relocate her leg and we found out that the bone wasn't shattered. Which means she only needs a cast to heal the broken shin and we have stitched her open wound without a problem." Dr. Scratch explained, "They're still doing maintenance around the room as we speak and I'll inform you when she is ready for a visit."
"Where is she going to be located?" Cheerilee asked.
He looked at his clipboard, "She will be located on the third floor in room 102."
She nodded and looked at Rainbow, "I'm sorry about this, but can you take care of Scootaloo for me? I need to head back to Canterlot High to finish the piles of work that I'm behind on. I'll be back this evening when I'm finished."
Rainbow nodded, "No problem. You can count on me."
Cheerilee turns to face me and bows, "Thank you for saving Scootaloo's leg. I'm sorry for the sudden leave."
I raised my hand, "No, no. It's fine. You have a job to do."
She smiled in understanding, hands Dr. Scratch a slip of paper (probably medical insurance), whispers something to him and leaves the hospital. Dr. Scratch left too and told us that he would give us the update when we could visit Scootaloo. I straightened myself on the chair that was against the wall and Rainbow sat right next to me.
"Is Cheerilee always busy?" I asked Rainbow.
She nodded, "She's the head teacher of Canterlot High and also thanks to the incident at the soccer field, her workload might have increased."
"You mean she's keeping the other teachers in check?" I asked wondering about Cheerilee's line of work.
"Cheerilee is the main teacher that sorts all the paperwork that goes throughout the school. She basically takes care of the bills, attendance, becomes the substitute when the other staff are absent, reports to the School Board in case of any good or bad news and most of all she is Scootaloo's guardian," Rainbow explained.
I rubbed my chin with my index finger and thumb, "That's a lot of work just to take care of your sister."
"Yeah, I know. Though Cheerilee trusts me to watch over her majority of the time."
"Are you and Scootaloo close?"
She smirked, "She's like the sister I've never had."
I sighed and lay back, "That's nice. I wish I had a sibling."
She looks at me, "Only child?"
"Yep."
She punched my shoulder lightly, "You're not alone there bud."
That's a word I've haven't heard in awhile. 'Bud' or 'buddy' was the term my parents gave me before they past away. To hear it from this girl almost sound foreign to me, it made my body tingle all over. It was a little bit of happiness that sprouted within me.
"Dude, why are you smiling?" Rainbow asked.
I felt my muscles loosen around my cheeks, "Sorry, my thoughts were stuck in the past."
"Oh," She put her hands on her thighs.
Though the two of us waited in silence, it wasn't an awkward silence, it was the 'nice feeling of being with someone' kind of silence. It was something I wasn't able to experience since my accident. Then I felt someone leaning on my left shoulder. I glance to see Dash sleeping on my shoulder, she was lightly snoring, to which I smirked a bit.
'She does look cute,' I thought, but shook my head internally, 'Get your head out of the gutter, it's just a nice moment between new friends... Right?'
I glance to the hallway to see that Dr. Scratch was coming back. My eyes locked on the clock and it was already 10 at night. 'Wow. Where did hours go?'
"Am I interrupting?" Dr. Scratch whispered.
I whispered in response, "No, but she's pretty exhausted after what happened."
He nodded, "Your friend, Scootaloo, is ready to have visitors."
I smiled, "Thanks doc, I'll wake her up soon."
Dr. Scratch smiled and walked back to the office while I admired Rainbow for a bit. I noticed how she wore a skirt, but had black short leggings underneath them. I didn't see the problem in that, but why a skirt on top of it? Was it to be seen more feminine? I flinched as a headache started to form as I tried to comprehend Rainbows clothing attire. Though it was cleared away by a song playing in her pocket.
~Awesome as I want to be!~
Her eyes snapped open and she grabbed a cell phone out of her pocket. Rainbow lifted her head off of my shoulder and answered the phone.
"Hey A.J., what's up?"
...
"I'm at the hospital, Scootaloo had her shin snapped in half."
I heard a muffled yell or arguing from the other side and Rainbow had to pull her ear off so that she wouldn't go deaf.
She sighed, "No, she's fine. She was saved by this guy named Andrew."
...
"He's a friend Applejack!"
She was blushing a bit, "A-Anyway, we're still good on the practice at the open-air concert tomorrow?"
...
"Nice, I'll have Andrew come as well."
'What did she just drag me into?' I thought as she hung up. "So where am I going to?"
She chuckled, "You're going to the open-air concert to see The Rainbooms practice."
I tilted my head, "The Rainbooms?"
Rainbow widened her eyes, but scratched the back of her head, "It's, y'know, a band. My band."
"Oh, sounds interesting. Believe it or not, I used to play the guitar when I was around twelve," I mentioned casually and her eyes sparkled.
"You wanna play with us?" She asked.
I smiled, "It's been awhile, but I could dust my guitar off and review the strings."
Rainbow smirked, "Alright then," She glanced around the area and saw the clock, "Woah! I was out for some time. Is Scootaloo ready to be seen?"
I stretched my arms and torso to set myself on the wheelchair, "Yeah, I didn't want to wake you up. It was kind of nice you slept on my shoulder, even though you only knew me today."
Her blush made me snicker a bit and she stormed off towards the elevator. I heard as she practically punched the button as I wheeled towards her. I could tell that she was pissed from the look on her face. 'Maybe I went a little too far?' I thought as we entered the elevator.
When we waited in the little box as she sighed, "Why didn't you want to wake me up?"
I scratched my nose, "I'll admit it, you looked cute when you slept on my shoulder.... And, I'm sorry for picking on you."
"N-No... I should blame myself. In case you didn't know, I get angry easily."
I nodded in understanding, "Huh, so do I."
"You're just saying that to make me feel better."
I shook my head, "No, really! I was about to sucker punch the coach for not having a nurse present during the soccer game."
Her eyes pondered as the elevator stopped at the third floor, "I do remember that when I was holding Scoots in my arms.... Alright, I believe you."
"Even though we don't know much about each other?"
Rainbow nodded as the door opened, "Yep," She walked out the elevator and I followed, "Which room was it again?"
"102." I reminded her.
She dashed towards the room upon seeing the numbers above the door, "Scootaloo?" Rainbow asked as she opened the door.
I pulled up behind her and saw she was awake. There was a heart monitor beeping away and she looked a bit sad. Though once Rainbow walked through, her frown turned into a smile.
"Dash!"
Rainbow ruffled her hair a bit, "How are you feeling?"
Scootaloo smiled as I wheeled myself to the edge of the bed, "I think I'm fine... I can't feel my leg though."
"That's because the painkillers are still active," I spoke, and her attention turns to me.
"You're the guy who saved my leg."
I chuckled, "Yes, and my name is Andrew, by the way."
She blushed in embarrassment, "Yeah, I forgot you told me in the soccer field."
"You did a great job keeping it together back at the park, you're still going to get your reward once you get out," Rainbow explained.
"Thanks, Rainbow Dash!" She cheered.
The two of them chatted away as I pondered, lost in my thoughts. 'Well, I saved this kid's leg from becoming, well, not a leg,' I thought as I wheeled myself towards the door. 'Now it's time to get back to my house and wonder about the future.'
"Wait, where are you going?" Rainbow asked.
I turned myself around, "Uh... Home?"
She shook her head, "No, you're not. Scootaloo and I want to talk to you about what happened at the soccer field and we want to know more about you."
For some reason, I felt my gloomy world being brightened by the color of rainbows. And the color was coming from these two girls. My heart and mind forgot about the depression and sadness that I went through when I lost my leg. These two girls for some reason had ignited something within me and I couldn't pinpoint what it was exactly. Though one thing was for certain, Rainbow and Scootaloo would change my life for the better. I smiled and wheeled myself to the other side of Scootaloo's bed.
"What would you like to know?"
Author's Note
There it is Ladies and Gentlemen. The sequel to The Canterlot Transfer Student and I had decided to make a series out of this because I love researching the world that they're in. (They're in a 1900's timeline where technology had advanced, but the plot line of the Equestria girls I, II and III are still there.)
Note: I am using Generation 3.5 story of where Scootaloo and Miss Cheerilee are Sisters. So I hope there isn't any confusion over that.
