The Friendship Games had come and gone, and everything was back to normal. students went to school, grown ups went to work, and Sunset and her friends had returned to their daily lives, with a added exception of a one familiar if still but different friend to join in their fun and excitement. So in order to ease her into the transition Sunset Shimmer decided to have late night dinner with Twilight Sparkle at the local cafe, just so they can talk, and get to know one another just a bit more.
“Here you go dears.”
“Thank you Mrs. Cake.” Sunset smiled as the plump woman headed back to the kitchen. “She’s so nice.”
“Yeah...Can’t wait to learn all about the things you girls do. Pinkie Pie already invited me over to a slumber party this weekend. And Rainbow Dash want’s to take me rollerblading, though I’m a littler nervous about that.” Twilight said taking holding her Coco close to her.
“Yeah that’s Dash alright.” Sunset chuckled.
“This place is so nice.” Twilight commented
“Yeah, we come here a lot, it’s just nice to sit and relax after a rough day of school.” Sunset leaned back on her chair now looking out the window enjoying the view. Everything was so peaceful
“What’s it called again?” Twilight asked.
“SugarCube corner.”
“Mm...This is good.” Twilight took a sip of her coco wiping some of it that she off her mouth. “Thanks for inviting me, ever since you know…
Sunset smiled. “Oh come on Twilight, it wasn’t you're fault...like I said, the same thing happened to me, heck if anything my little...experience, was more directly my fault than yours.”
“No….No…Still my fault…
“Pfft, please I was a jerk...you were nice. You got it easy.” Sunset added. “However I did notice something.”
“What?” Twilight asked sounding nervous.
“Oh, nothing bad it’s just when you got that freaky horn you had when you went all….you know, kind of looked like a Changelings.”
“A what now?” Twilight asked sounding both disturbed and intrigued.
“They’re a creature from Equestria, they well, have the power to change shape, and they feed of love. Never met one myself, heard their nasty.”
“Oh….D-Did I turn into a changeling then?” Twilight asked remembering that day.
“Hmm...No I don’t think so. Back in my world you can tell evil pretty well.”
“Really?”
Sunset chuckled. “Oh yeah….If there's one thing about Equestria, it’s not subtle, you can tell if someone is evil, if they look ugly, have red eyes, use green magic. etc, etc.”
“Your world seems very black and white then.”
“It is...Their are some shades of gray, but not most of the time...though we hope to reform our baddies when we can.”
“But um...C-Can I ask you something?” Twilight rubbed the back of her head looking really embarrassed now, face turning a bit red.
“Sure.”
“Well...When I went all….Crazy...I tried to destroy this world so I can go to yours….And you said the same thing happened to you so….What exactly did you do?”
Sunset blinked a few seconds before turning sheepish. “Well...I um…..turned the entire student body into mind controlled zombies for my own personal army so I can take over Equestria.” She hunched over a bit embarrassment after saying it. Twilight however couldn’t help but chuckle a bit. “W-What’s so funny?”
“Oh...N-Nothing Sunset...It’s just...well, you're plan doesn’t make a whole lot of sense.” Twilight pointed out adjusting her glasses. “I mean, I still don’t know much about your world, but from what I saw and felt, I don’t think a bunch of teens would have a chance against all that magic.”
“W-Well true.” Sunset replied still embarrassed. “But still I guess the magic I had would have been able to counter any of it.”
“Then why have a army in the first place, just go by yourself with all the magic and start taking over.”
“Well I um…..” Sunset was going back to that day trying to think. “Yeah? Hey at least I had a plan, what were you doing just blasting holes in the fabric of space time.” She started to become annoyed.
“I wanted to learn about magic, just not in the right ways.” Twilight replied sounding both ashamed and defensive.
“Yeah, but how? Just go to Equestria and read the books in the library?” Sunset asked getting annoyed. “I mean….That doesn’t make sense.”
“Well I...Hey, I was warped up on magic.” Twilight argued. “I didn’t know right from wrong, good from evil, I just knew I wanted to learn magic.”
“Yeah, but their are lots of ways to do that….Reading the spells books and practicing it, or like I heard about this one baddie...I think his name was Tirek, he would just absorb all the magic and just like that. Knew it”
“Fascinating.” Twilight commented. “But still, I find your plan highly flawed.”
“You're saying you could have done better!” Sunset standing up a bit more.
“Well for one thing...I would have least mind controlled the entire world instead of just a small town, I mean, hello billions of people living here.” Twilight waved her arms “Given them some sort of advantage. Like shields...robot appengies, maybe just have masses of them.”
“Well...I don’t know, like you said I was hyped up on magic!” Sunset huffed. “Though that’s probably not a bad idea though.”
“Granted I did see my brother Shining Armor watch this Sci-Fi show were the Villain tried to destroy reality with a bomb, though I never saw the appeal logically speaking, I mean if you destroy reality then what do you do when you're done?” Twilight asked.
“Who knows, that’s why most Villain’s don’t succeed, or try to conquer the world instead of destroy.”
“Yeah, honestly I never saw the appeal, granted never considered my dark self to be a nihilist.”
“Hey you didn’t like the world very much, so why bother keeping it?” Sunset shrugged.
“True….True.” Twilight took another sip of her coco, looking down, adjusting her glasses, there was an eerie silence for moments, the two girls avoiding contact with one another for a while before Twilight looked up at Sunset again.
“Sunset Shimmer?”
“Yeah?”
“....Magic is weird.”
“It sure is Twilight….It sure is.”
