//-------------------------------------------------------// Unpredictable Magic -by Eulshy- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Much Ado About Life //-------------------------------------------------------// Much Ado About Life Winter sucks.  I hated it, I honestly did.  It was my least favorite season of all time, out of all of them.  This might just have been due to my location in the world, but hell, I couldn't stand it really.  Just look at me, shoved into this giant puffy red coat, face wrapped several times with a purple scarf, hands laden with gloves, mismatching ones by the way, one purple and skin tight, the other pink and fluffy.  Topping the entire ensemble off with blue jeans.  I mean of course I was wearing socks and shoes, it's winter for Christ's sake.  But oddly enough the chill never bothered my anything below my waist, don't know why, maybe it was because I was walking, generating heat due to movement and friction?  Regardless it looked ridiculous.  Though not that I cared about that, anyone who saw me wasn't about to mock me for it, especially when it's below freezing and not even taking the wind chill into consideration. It was a long walk from home to school, I didn't much mind it in the morning though, considering the time I left it was still dark out.  I quite enjoyed the look of the sky, when it wasn't cloudy that is, as I walked across the side walks.  Watching the dull orange glow of the street lamps reflect off the snow that was all around me where ever I went was oddly calming.  If there was one thing to say about winter, it could make even the plain jane streets of your average town look like a frozen fantasy.  These sights were my only comfort to help distract me from the constant chill and to keep me from licking my lips.  Fuck.  Licked my lips.  Can't think about it or I end up doing it.  Distractions, needed a distraction. Ah today, my day.  What was my day going to be like?  Hell if I knew honestly, it was Monday, it had snowed a metric ton just during the night, yet school was still open even when it was this cold.  If there was any consolation to this, it was that I was at least earning some coins.  Streetpass coins that is.  Yes yes, I had my 3DS in my pocket along with a hand warmer.  Why wasn't it warming my hands?  Because the gaming device is more important.  I would have had it connected to my neat little solar charger if you know, it wasn't night.  So that stayed safely within my back pack, what was even in there again?  Some paper, some pens.  A pack of gum, unless I chewed that already, so Schrodinger's gum, and that was it.  I never took homework home, or rather I never took school work home because I just did it at school. Damn I'm bored today, it's only been about a quarter of a mile and I'm only about half way there.  Why do I walk again?  Oh yeah, health, fitness, staying in shape.  Or it's because I hate riding on the bus, probably the latter.  This is only the walk to school, if I'm this bored now, i'm going to be weighing my odds of just skipping my last two classes and coming home early. "Holy fuck!"  I shout, startled at the sudden deafening boom of thunder clapping over my head. I had tried to raise my arms to cover my ears, but with all these layers I sort of just brought them up awkwardly to then have them fall back down to my sides.  The stupid blue hat didn't even block that sound out a bit.  Also what the fuck?  Thunder in the middle of winter?  Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm almost certain that's not a thing.  Though as I kept walking something else happened that I had little time to think about, I got struck by lightning, completely blinding me as what I thought was the sensation of burning overtook my entire thought process and then poof.  I was out. I awoke some time later only to be blinded once more, this time by the sun, that ass hole.  Turning my head away I realized I was on the ground.  Surrounded by tree's, also I was fucking hot.  After sitting up I quickly realized that I wasn't heading to school anymore, it seemed to be about mid day, and I was in the middle of a clearing in a sunny forest.  Was I dead?  Is this a dream?  I remember being hit by lightning, at least I thought it was lightning, I mean, it was blindingly bright.  Though I didn't seem burnt at all, hell my dumb clothes were completely fine, and why would being struck by lighting put me in a sunny forest? Questions questions and no answers, I began to strip.  Tossing all my winter clothes aside, revealing my yellow t-shirt underneath, then setting my back pack next to them I began to try and rationalize my situation out loud just so I could hear myself better. "Okay so.  First theory.  I'm dead, this is the after life, the afterlife is a clear forest.  Second theory.  I got struck by lightning, I'm in some kind of coma and potentially laying in a hospital or on the frozen ground slowly freezing to death.  Third theory.  I was never living, it was all a dream to begin with and I've just woken up, and lastly the fourth theory.  I'm insane, lightning struck me and has made me insane."  I told myself, pacing back and forth. So, where was I exactly?  After discussing the whole, what state of living am I in with myself, I took more interest in my surroundings.  I decided to sit down, take my shoes and my socks off, which was immediately satisfying, freeing my feet from the prisons they were kept in.  I began to run my fingers through my light brown curly hair, breaking up knots that were in it as I did. "Alright Kylie.  You are in a forest.  What kind?  Probably like a regular woods kind, these tree's look to be primarily oaks and such.  Not that you know tree's well but dammit they aren't tropical looking and then don't have needles so they might as well be oaks.  Where in the world do they had oak tree's and it's currently the month of January.  So obviously somewhere south, maybe on the other side of the equator, or on the equator?  I suck at geography.  So, you have no idea how you got here.  Logically someone or something put you here, so.  Either they want you here, or they want you to do something.  Or you're insane, in a coma, etc.  Well actually, if I'm in a coma I shouldn't feel the need to eat or sleep right?  It's like a long dream?  Well, I can rationalize that to myself.  Okay.  I definitely feel hungry, my feet feel sore from being stuffed in my shoes, I think I can cross coma off the list of possibilities."  I said as I stood up. I looked around.  I was in a clearing, dense forest on all sides.  Going on the notion I was alive, I would need sustenance.  There was no real sustenance in this clearing, aside from grass I guess.  But even if I could eat grass I still needed water, which definitely wasn't here.  So, I began packing all my clothes into my back pack.  Even my shoes and socks because fuck those, the grass felt nice between my toes.  As I was organizing myself I felt the weight it my pocket, my 3DS!  I pulled it out and opened it up, sure enough it was still in sleep mode.  Turning it on it was only about one twenty seven in the afternoon, so I had been unconscious for about, six hours.  Six hours was a lot of time, but it didn't seem like enough to move me to another part of the continent.  Regardless I shoved it back into my pocket and chose a direction.  The sun was currently almost in the middle of the sky, but using my shadow I could tell what direction it was heading in, west.  So I decided to head south.  I figured that if I went straight in one direction I would eventually get out of the forest. Even though I was used to walking, I did it all the time, to and from school, I really disliked it, a lot.  Any other mode of transportation would have been preferably, except maybe bus, but even in this situation if a bus pulled up I'd get on it as soon as possible.  It didn't take me long to get tired, I was hungry, thirsty, and quickly losing hope by the minute.  Nothing was going my way and it seemed like I would die in this forest.  That is, until I saw the rustling.  A bush just to my right had began to rustle, what was there, probably an animal, soI backed away from it, slowly.  I didn't want a badger to jump out and maul my face or something.  But to my surprise a chicken head popped out.  I breathed an audible sigh of relief as I saw that chicken stare back at me.  Obviously if there was a chicken, it had to have come from like a farm right?  I was saved!  The relief I felt must have been great, cause it made me feet feel like lead, like I could just stop moving altogether. Wait.  I broke eye contact with the chicken as I looked down to see both of my feet had turned to stone.  I couldn't even say anything, I mean, what do you say in that situation.  But I turned my gaze back towards the chicken as I heard it move, it had come out of the bush, revealing the rest of it's body.  A body with scales.  Why.  Why was I looking at a cockatrice?  Then as I began to feel the stiff feeling growing up from my feet I realized, why the hell was I staring at a cockatrice!  I turned away immediately as I felt the stiff sensation stopping halfway up my calves.  This obviously angered the damn thing cause it began to cluck in a menacing way.  Which I didn't think anything could cluck in a menacing way but there you go. I couldn't just stay stuck there, this thing had talons, not like bird talons, like some weird claw bird talons that could probably slice me fairly well.  So I looked at it, though I avoided it's gaze like the plague.  It kept getting closer and closer.  Until finally it was right next to me.  I used every ounce of strength I had to lift one of my feet up, quickly planting it on the creatures tail end.  It shrieked so loudly, I think I might have gone deaf if I didn't already have poor hearing.  It struggled with it's tail caught under my stone foot.  I had no idea how to reverse this, but I wasn't going to let this thing live.  I began straining to lift my other foot, the creature still struggling and howling while I did.  Thankfully for me it hadn't seen me moving, or it was in too much pain to care.  Regardless I brought the foot over and let it fall right onto it.  There was a split second of an even more agonizing screech, and then, complete silence. I stood there, motionless.  Not only because I had just killed it, but also because my feet were still stone.  But only for a few seconds longer.  Whatever that cockatrice had to make me turn to stone, was gone now that it was dead, quickly I began running, I had blood spattered on my feet and lower legs, I booked it out of there as fast as I could, fearful of more of them in the area.  I kept running, and running, until I saw light coming through the trees.  I dashed as hard as I could before I came right out of the tree line to see a ledge.  I immediately let myself fall, sliding and partially rolling across the ground, only stopping a few feet from it. I laid there on the ground for some time.  Breathing, in and out, in and out.  It was all I could think of.  Sweat on my brow, blood on my feet.  I had just avoided death twice.  Once by mythical beast, another by height.  I began to stand up.  Feeling incredibly shaky on my feet.  But damn if it wasn't a reassuring feeling.  Any feeling there felt so foreign after they had been stone, but it was so welcome.  I looked to the ledge, seeing that it was quite a drop.  I looked around and noticed a rope bridge fair to the right side. "Alright, bridge, someone put that up.  So obviously someone has to be near it, or at least on the other side of it.  Right?"  I reasoned with myself as I headed towards it. It was definitely a wooden bridge alright.  Rope, check, wood, check.  Strapped across a dangerous chasm, check.  Would this thing even hold my weight?  So, I did the only logical thing, I checked the rope.  Sure the wood might have looked old, but it was the rope that mattered, cause even if the bridge planks gave way, if the rope held I could hold it.  So I began to subject the rope to all manners of tests.  Pulling it, prodding it, twanging it.  It seems good, didn't look frayed, and was fairly tight.  So I grabbed onto the ropes, holding them as tight as possible as I began my journey across.  It felt like half an hour, it was more like five minutes,  but I crossed.  Wooh. Bridge behind me I continued, there seemed to be a sort of path, and by sort of path I meant a line of plant matter that seemed to be growing less robustly than the plants around it, signifying it was either an old path, or rarely used.  Either way she followed it until it lead her to look upon and old decrepit castle. "Alright, the coma theory is back in because this all seems like something out of dungeons and dragons, actually scratch that, it's just seeming more and more like I am completely deranged now.  Well, if I was going to be deranged in any world, at least this one is interesting?"  I said to myself as I went forward, marching into the ruins.  Immediately I went looking for life.  I was sad to find none, aside from plants for the most part. This castle was fairly large and ornate, as old as it was plenty of it's rooms seemed to be in fine shape, just really dusty.  Hell it even had some windows still intact.  Though all the ornate looking ones were broken.  Whoever had lived here must have liked horses, there was plenty of horse statues around, most broken, but it was easy to see what they once represented.  As I began roaming around here once again I began feeling my stomach groaning in need of sustenance.  What could I do, there was no food around.  But I probably wouldn't find any in an old castle, so out I ventured, onto the grounds around it. After some time of searching I managed to find what I was looking for, food!  At least, hopefully it was food.  It was a berry bush, quite a few of them.  All sitting there with black berries perched upon it.  The berries looked like raspberries, which was tempting enough to begin with, cause I really liked raspberries.  But I couldn't just eat them, my paranoia for contracting some kind of disease or parasite was overwhelming my need to eat.  But this was good, I had some food, potentially.  Now I needed water. I headed back to the bridge and crossed it, this time quicker and with less rope grappling.  I began to search around the area to look for water.  After enough meandering I finally came across a river.  Oh sweet wonder, a river.  A river was so good for so many reasons.  Firstly water, secondly a landmark, and thirdly, she could follow this.  A river would lead to the sea, or at least a bigger body of water right.  Right? Lastly, cleaning.  I stuck my legs into the river, washing the blood off of my feet, my pants bottoms had already been stained, but it was cleaner than nothing.  Now, I needed water, and as much as I wanted to just drink from it my paranoia returned.  Alright, I could deal with this.  First to head back to that hold castle and find some type of container.  Alright, back over the bridge and back into the castle, back pack being set down, search begins. After about thirty minutes of looking around I found a ornate looking vase, it was broken of course, but it was still large enough to hold water.  So this in my arms I headed back to the river and rinsed it out a few times, then scooped up a fair amount of water.  Even broken this thing was holding about a gallon.  So, taking this vase of water back to the castle I set it down.  Now, I just need to heat this up.  But how?  I could try that whole stick rubbing twisty thing, but I don't properly know how to do that.  Alright, this is an old castle, it makes sense that there would be some type of metal around.  Perhaps some flint?  Alright, that's the plan. So, I began searching around the castle.  By now I had been all over this place, it wasn't the fullest old decrepit castle.  There were plenty of rooms to visit but there was also plenty of rubble blocking off several halls and stairways.  Regardless, I eventually came to a spiral staircase that led up to a small circular room, the stairs that went up from there was broken, so there wasn't getting any higher.  But in this room, I found some interesting things.  Weapons.  Namely spears, and a broken bow.  I grabbed one, it was a very nice spear, it wasn't even rusty.  I could use a way to defend myself and this would work.  The other thing I noticed was a box, a little wooden box.  I went over and opened it, finding some sticks, sticks with ends that were red. Odd, definitely odd.  I grabbed a stick, looking at it.  It looked like a torch, you know, minus the stuff you'd light on fire at the end.  Instead it was just colored red.  I waved it around a little, then I hit it against the wall and it suddenly burst into flames. "The fuck!"  I said as I dropped it, it banged down onto the floor and it extinguished it's self. Then I picked it back up.  It didn't start on fire again, so I hit it against the wall again, and it lit on fire. "Interesting."  I said to myself. What an odd stick.  Or rather, an odd torch.  It was obviously magic, right?  Either way, I wonder if I had to drop it to turn it off and suddenly I witnessed it turn off.  Huh.  I thought about it being on fire, and it lit up.  Thought about it going out, it went out.  Conveinient.  So, taking this new found fire down to my vase, as well as my new spear, I set the torch down next to the vase, but before I let go I willed it on.  But as soon as I let go it went out.  Hm.  So I needed a plan.  Firstly, the sun was going down, I couldn't keep going at night, even if I did have a torch now.  So I took my things and moved them off into a room that was still intact, a fairly big room, but empty.  It had a window though, so that was nice. After setting all my things down in this new room I went ahead and went outside, picking up twigs and sticks, even rocks.  Bringing all those back to the room and making a little fire pit.  So I used the torch to light this up, which worked quite well.  Then I set the vase closer enough so that it would heat up.  Good, water was boiling, now to the next step, grab scraf, head out.  I went and began plucking berries and using the scarf to hold them all until I got a sizable amount of them and brought them back to the room.  Water still wasn't boiling, so waiting time. I decided to pull out my solar charger.  I placed it in the window and hooked my 3DS charger up to it.  It wasn't going to charge much, especially now that it was getting towards twilight.  But some was better than none.  I just used this time to turn the camera function on.  I began taking pictures of this room, cause if I wasn't dead or insane, it would be nice to have some proof.  It was when I was looking through the pictures after taking some that I began to feel a welling sadness.  Well, if I was dead.  I wasn't going to be seeing my friends or family anymore was I?  The pictures I had of my friends on this little game system were suddenly the most important thing in the world in this moment. I sighed, pushing the sadness away.  I couldn't dwell on that, I had to focus on surviving.  Speaking of which, the water was boiling now, so, using all of my culinary expertise I dumped all the berries I had picked into the boiling water.  Then I wrapped the scarf around my hands and pulled the vase away from the fire a bit.  So it would come off a boil.  Then after doing that, I took out my winter clothes.  I didn't have a place to sleep, so the floor would do.  Taking out the coat, I laid it on the ground, taking my scarf and shaking it off to rid it of all debris.  Then I placed my gloves inside it and folded it up into a make shift pillow. Afterwards I headed outside, finding a nice spot away from the castle to do my business.  Pissing in the woods wasn't exactly new to me so there wasn't any need to go into detail with it.  After that I went back into the castle and the water wasn't boiling anymore.  Still quite hot, I began waiting for it to cool down even more, I took this time to cut off the bottoms of my pants, the bloodspattered parts.  After some time I tested it with a finger, warm, not scalding.  So I began drinking, putting my lips to the vase and drinking it in.  It tasted like that flavored water stuff.  The stuff that never really tastes like the flavor it's advertising.  Either way, water, berries that might kill me.  I drank it all down.  Well not all of it, about half.  Either way it was good enough for me to drink so I did, and after that, I went to sleep.  I just laid down and was out in a matter of minutes, using my backpack as a blanket and letting the fire go on, it was dying at this point anyway. Woke up, chilled.  Not cold,  but not warm either.  Sunlight was coming in through the window.  I coughed a little, sat up and went over to my water berry concoction.  Drinking from it.  Not cold, but not tepid, a bit chilled.  It tasted about the same as it had last time.  After that I got up and headed back outside, a meal of water and berries did not make for fun times on the digestive system,  either way, I went and took care of that, coming back and grabbing my spear and my torch stick.  I decided to leave all my other things here, I was going to explore the area around this place.  If this was going to be my, place, I needed to know what was around me.  So I went out and crossed the bridge.  I began using my spear to stab at the ground so I could follow the trail back, no losing myself this time. I headed into the forest, looking around.  Well, it was a dense forest.  There wasn't really anything to say about that.  Just over grown and big.  After enough time wandering I came across something odd.  A tree, a tree house.  Not a house in a tree.  A house made from a hollowed out tree.  Heading towards it, it looked empty, there was no lights on inside.  The door was small compared to me, I tried opening it, and it opened with no trouble.  Going in I was greeted by so much mysticism.  It was like a witch doctors hut.  There was a cauldron in the middle of the room, how was this not a witch doctors hut.  I began looking around, saw garlands of things hanging from the ceiling, masks, and books.  Books.  I grabbed one, just randomly.  It was blue, and had some strange symbols of the cover.  Interesting.  I stuck it under my arm and turned around, to see a small zebra standing in the doorway. "What creature are you in my home.  Leave, back to where you roam."  the small zebra spoke, English, and in rhyme? I just stared at it, unsure of what to do.  There was a small zebra looking at me, scowling at me. "Leave my thinges where they were, leave it or my anger you will stir."  the small zebra rhymed again, this time approaching me. I panicked, spear was out in front of me, pointing at zebra, that stopped it from coming closer. "Who are you?"  I asked it. "You speak words I know, do you know what they mean though?  My name is Zecora and I live here, you do not, which is what I fear."  the small zebra kept rhyming. "Alright, Zecora.  I don't want to hurt you."  I said. "I don't want to hurt you either strange creature, put my book back or face my less polite feature."  Zecora replied. So, I put the book back in it's spot, putting the spear down and not pointing it at it. "Where am I?"  I asked. "You are in the Everfree, more specifically in my tree."  Zecora stated. "The Everfree, what's that?"  I asked. "The forest that you are in, stomping around and making a din."  Zecora said as she made her way closer to me. "Alright a forest, I knew that.  I meant, where am I what continent, what world?"  I asked, "You are currently in the Equestrian place, where Celestia and Luna rule with grace."  the zebra explained. "Who are Celestia and Luna?"  I questioned, feeling a bit more comfortable with this zebra. "Where are you from to not know this?  Surely this is something no thing could miss.  You are from far away, this I can tell.  For I do not see you being too well.  The question I now want from you, where are you from, what do you do?"  Zecora asked as she stared at me. "My name is Kylie, I'm from, Earth I guess.  I assume this has to be another world, and I don't do anything.  I woke up here, in this forest after being struck by lightning while walking to school."  I told her. I watched as Zecora went and opened up a book, looking through it as she said. "The story you tell is a tall one indeed.  Though you do seem to be in a fair amount of need.  I can't tell why you now reside here.  That I do not have the answer to I fear.  But I can help you in one way.  I can bring you to a town within the day, a house I can leave you at.  A place where you can have a chat, with a pony who can help you out as long as you don't scream or shout."  Zecora stated. "Uh, alright.  But can you wait?  I need to get my things from where I had been."  I told her. "I will wait for you to return, hurry now, or time you will burn."  Zecora said as I began heading out. I then went back to the castle, it wasn't that long of a walk, about ten minutes or so until I was back at the castle.  I went in and began gathering up my things.  Once it was all nicely packed into my back pack, I went back, heading to Zecora's home.  I saw the zebra standing outside her home. "You are now ready.  Stay close, I will walk steady."  Zecora said as she began heading out. I followed behind her, walking through the forest, taking my different ways, I didn't know why we were going in such an odd way, but I assumed it had to be to avoid certain things.  Regardless of what I thought, we soon began making our way out of the woods, seeing a nice little cottage in the distance. "Here is where you will find help.  But be careful, or you'll make her yelp."  Zecora said as we both made our way towards the cottage. //-------------------------------------------------------// Rough Greetings //-------------------------------------------------------// Rough Greetings Zecora hadn't lied when she said it would take the day, well, maybe exaggerated.  It certainly hadn't taken the whole day to get there, but by now the sun was telling me it was well into midday.  As we both went up to the cottage I began to notice some distinct signs of life.  Many birds flying around, squirrels packed into nearby trees.  A quaint little stream as well.  This place practically screamed secluded hippie shut in.  I was a bit skeptical whoever lived here could be of any help to me.  Zecora walked, trotted?  Trotted ahead of me when we approached the door motioning for me to drop my weapons on the ground.  So I tossed the spear and the torch onto the ground to the side and watched as Zecora quickly knocked on the door.  I wasn't sure what I expected really.  Honestly another small zebra pony thing like Zecora, but I was wrong as when the door opened I saw a little yellow, Pegasus.  No, not hallucinating, wings were indeed on that creature.  The yellow of it's coat was a nice off set to the light pink color of it's mane and tail. "Oh hello Zecora, what brings you."  the yellow Pegasus talked until it's eyes met my own. For a moment we all sat there in complete silence.  No words exchanged.  In fact, the Pegasus seemed to be eyeing me rather intently until the shroud of quiet was unveiled as Zecora spoke. "This creature I found within the forest here.  It seeks aid I cannot give it dear.  I plan to fetch Twilight to help this creature out."  then the Zebra's voice dropped to a whisper I couldn't hear. Curse my hearing, it was fairly poor to begin with.  Regardless of what Zecora continued to say in hushed whispers, I didn't much like having myself referred to as it.  Though I couldn't really blame Zecora, either you assume you can tell the gender of a creature you've never seen before, or go with the vague it.  I was probably over thinking this too much but thankfully my mind was derailed by the Pegasus. "Oh my, well.  Of course I could watch this one while you go and get Twilight.  Just uh.  Hurry back please."  the yellow one said, speaking in such a quiet voice it was a barely audible to me. Was that an intentional whisper?  Or did she just talk quietly, I mean I hadn't heard he speak in anything above what i'd classify as a quiet voice, so I'll go with she's quiet naturally.  Again, more pointless thought trains interrupted again. "I leave you here with Fluttershy, behave yourself though, do not make her cry."  Zecora told me as she then left, trotting rather quickly towards a small looking town in the distance. So, the next several minutes, I kid you not, were spent in complete silence again, though this time we spent it avoiding each other's gaze.  Till finally Fluttershy spoke up. "Please, do come in and get comfortable."  she said as she led me in. The inside of this cottage reflected the outside, cluttered and full of life.  Bird houses hanging from the ceiling, I could see mice scurrying away into holes as I came in. "This place is, interesting."  I commented, only to watch as Fluttershy did a little jump as she turned and faced me. "You, you talk?"  she asked. "Well of course, why wouldn't you think I did?"  I asked. This caused her to blush somewhat, it seems she had lost a bit of confidence at some point. "Uh well, you see, I had sort of, thought you were an animal of sorts."  she explained. "Well, I mean technically I am.  But I guess that's besides the point, I think the real one is my level of intelligence and cognitive reasoning."  I said as I set down my bag, gently though. "Uh huh.  Well.  I'm sure Twilight will be here as soon as possible.  But, if I may be so bold as to ask.  What are you?  I've never seen a creature like you before, and well, after spending so much time living this close to the forest, I thought I would have a very well rounded knowledge of it's creatures.  Not even the books I've read have ever described anything like you."  Fluttershy went on. "That's a rather, interesting question depending on who is asking.  But, I guess the simplest answer would be that I'm a human.  Though I understand that probably doesn't mean a lot.  But in animal terms I'm sort of like a monkey I guess?"  I told her, I had never been big on biology.  I took meteorology dammit, I knew about clouds and stuff. "Right.  Well uh.  Human?  Do you have a name?  It seems like it would be inappropriate to just call you human."  Fluttershy stated. "Quite right.  My name is Kylie."  I told her. "Alright then, Kylie.  Why don't you sit down until Twilight get's here."  she said, motioning to the couch. I went over and sat on it, as I did I swear I saw something white out of the corner of my eye, but as I turned my head to see more clearly I was only looking at an empty hall opening.  Either way, once I had sat down, Fluttershy had come and gotten onto the couch next to me, sort of laying on it, though I don't think it would be comfortable to sit in the same position I did.  It was at this time I noticed the butterflies on her rear.  Zecora had a sort of swirly deal on hers, I figured it was like a dyed on tattoo or something, Fluttershy had one too it seemed, but of butterflies, but eh, that seemed to fit well for her. We sat quietly for the most part, and by that I mean I spent most of my time looking around the room and anytime I saw Fluttershy, she seemed to be gazing at me.  Luckily our silence was again destroyed by a knocking at the door, a rather urgent knock as well.  Fluttershy rose and quickly went to the door, opening it, and then what rushed into the room was a purple unicorn with some saddlebags.  Seriously, I was considering going back to the idea that I was completely loopy.  But no time to think about that as the unicorn immediately headed for me, with a look in it's eyes that scared me a little. "Is this the creature then Fluttershy?"  the unicorn said, not even addressing me. "Yes, her name is Kylie Twilight."  Fluttershy said, I don't remember telling Fluttershy I was a girl. "You've already given it a name?"  Twilight asked her. "Actually my parents gave me it."  I said, feeling a bit left out of this conversation. Of course this only seemed to make Twilight's somewhat frightening look even more traumatizing. "So Zecora was right, you are capable of higher understanding."  Twilight said as she came over closer to me, looking at me, meanwhile I was just wondering where Zecora was. Twilight seemed quite interested in just looking at me.  Not meeting my eyes, but just staring at me, like she was absorbing all that I was for some sort of collective of information she would later write down.  Correction, I watched as Twilight's horn lit up and a saddlebag popped open and a notepad and a quill came out.  The magic she was using to control them both enveloped the items with a sort of purple aura.  As the sound of the quill scratching the parchment went on, I began to feel a glimmer of fear well up within me.  Where Zecora seemed like a normal small zebra, Fluttershy was just a pony with wings, Twilight here, was using magic.  Something I couldn't understand. I watched as Twilight set the writing material down onto a nearby table and then stuck a hoof out towards me, grabbing at my shirt.  Firstly I wondered how that even worked, how do hooves grab shirt?  Secondly I said. "Hey, what's going on?"  alarmed at being handled in such a way. "Clothing.  Then there's either the concept of functional coating to serve as warmth or even a societal acceptance of what to wear."  Twilight said, not even looking at me. "Twilight, maybe you should."  Fluttershy started, but was cut off as Twilight said. "A very interesting creature, ape like in form."  she then enveloped me in her magic. I sat there as my arm was rendered useless.  My left arm.  I could control it, but it was like it was stuck in cement, the purple field around it keeping it in location as Twilight looked at it intently.  Now, at this point, maybe I made a wrong decision, I was struggling a little, it was obvious I didn't want to be in this situation.  It didn't help that I was somewhat claustrophobic, not insanely so, but having my arm suddenly immobilized was sending a lot of signals to my brain, I panicked.  I kicked out, my foot landing squarely against the middle of the unicorns body.  I wasn't a fit person, but my legs were fairly muscular, it was enough to cause Twilight to be shoved backwards, tumbling down onto the floor as she screamed. Of course several other things happened when I did that.  One was obvious, I could move my arm again.  So, the fear was leaving, and the sudden realization that I had just kicked a unicorn was dawning on me.  Fluttershy had gone over to Twilight to help her up.  I hadn't done anything else.  I froze.  Part of me wanted to run to the door, burst through it and run into the forest, another wanted to apologize, and the biggest part of me wanted to just fall onto the floor and die.  The combination of those all just left me there. "What in the world!?  What's wrong with you?"  Twilight stood up shouting, Fluttershy backing away. "Here I thought you were some incredibly intelligent creature, but then you kick me across the room?!"  the unicorn continued. I was just completely avoiding her gaze, I couldn't look at her.  Of course what I had done was terrible.  I shouldn't have, I was just scared, it was just.  As I was there trying to put myself together, Twilight was getting closer to me, her horn was lit up and instantly I felt that fear again, though it was tenfold.  I let myself fall onto the couch, burying my face into it's cushions as I began to cower.  What could I do, there was a creature stood before me with the power to render me immobile at will.  I was whimpering at this point.  Crying actually.  This was pretty much it for me.  I pissed off a magical unicorn.  I was pretty much as good as dead. Though as I laid there, tears falling into the cushion I was now intimately engaged to, nothing happened.  I heard no steps.  I couldn't feel myself being restrained.  I chanced it, pulling my head up to see Fluttershy and Twilight standing there, looking quite concerned for me.  I spoke immediately. "I'm sorry.  I, I got scared."  I said, blushing as I did. It wasn't an easy thing to admit, even less so to a unicorn and a Pegasus, one who had been rather nice to you, and the other you had just planted your foot into.  Fluttershy came over to me, wiping some of my tears away as Twilight said. "It's me who should be sorry.  I got a little carried away myself.  It's not everyday you are suddenly seeing a never before documented creature that doesn't appear to exist anywhere, especially not one with thoughts and feelings."  she said. "No, I guess not."  I said as I sat up, trying to wipe my eyes clear. "How about we start this over.  My name is Twilight Sparkle, you are?"  she asked me, to which I responded. "My name is Kylie, and it's a pleasure to meet you."  she said.
