Staring at a star

‘’What the hay?’’ Spike said as he walked in the library, causing Twilight shoot up from the couch, immediately regretting it, as her head started to pound. ‘’do I want to know?’’ he said with a small smirk.

‘’I-I… well uhm’’ Twilight stuttered, ‘’it was cold upstairs and I uhm well… we drank, yeah that is it we were drunk.’’ she blushed deeply and received an unconvinced face from the baby dragon. ‘’nothing happened, I-I just fell asleep next to him nothing more’’ she said loudly while still blushing, ‘’to be honest I only asked about the mess you made with those bottles and books, but it is way more enjoyable seeing you embarrass yourself’’ he said with a big smile.

‘’no gems for you for a week mister!’’ she yelled at Spike, ‘’worth it’’ he said with a smile. Spike walked to the kitchen placing his bag on the table, on top of the herbs Ace got from Twilight. ‘’Breakfast?’’ Spike asked, Twilight nodded while still glaring at him.

‘’Ace, wake up breakfast is ready’’ Twilight said softly and tapped me. I slowly opened my eyes and yawned, ‘’morning, sleepy head’’ she said with a smile.

I inhaled some air with my nose and smelled backed eggs, toast and coffee. I lifted my head and met Twilight at eye level, ‘’morning’’ I said, while I looked her in the eye, causing her to blush again. ‘’d-did you sleep well’’ she said while avoiding my gaze, ‘’never slept better’’ I said in response and nuzzled her, causing her to gasp in delight and giggle.

‘’breakfast is r… aw common!’’ Spike said and looked away, ‘’you two are making me sick’’. I looked away in shock and coughed, trying to look innocent. ‘’breakfast is on the table, I’m going out’’ he mumbled.

I got off the couch and walked to the kitchen and sat down of one of the chairs, with a plate in front of it. I yawned again and looked at the clock on the wall, I gasped it was three o’clock. ‘’how long did I sleep?’’ I asked Twilight, ‘’about twelve hours, I wanted to wake you up… but you looked so peaceful’’ she said with a smile and sat down on the chair next to me.

We started to eat, an awkward silence between us. There was a question both of us wanted to ask, but neither of us dared to ask, but I gathered all my courage ‘’so about last night…’’ I asked with a blush and small smile.

Twilight blushed as well, ‘’w-what about it’’ she said in a slight sad tone, ‘’I’m sorry if I made you feel uncomfortable, it’s just that I-I well uhm the alcohol’’ she said stuttering and started to twist her hair around her hoof nervously, her face becoming even brighter red. ‘’yeah about that... you didn’t make me feel uncomfortable at all, exactly the opposite. I really liked it’’ I said in a deep blush and scratched the back of my head, while avoiding Twilight her gaze.

‘’you d-did’’ she said while trying to suppress her excitement, I nodded and looked at her. A shy little smile appeared on her face, ‘’I-I did too’’ she whispered shyly. I smiled and nuzzled her, ‘’glad to hear that’’ I whispered teasingly in her ear, causing her to gasp and her eyes to shoot open widely.

‘’ooh dear I-I have to go’’ she jumped up from the chair and ran to the front door and opened it, ‘’b-bye’’ she said before spurting of, hearing her giggle in the distance. I was confused by the sudden streak of events, but then I realized, ‘’Twilight likes me’’ I said proudly and balanced my chair on two legs.

‘’who’’ I shocked and fell backwards on the floor, ‘’ouch, what the…’’ I looked up and saw an owl sitting on the lamp in the kitchen. ‘’Twilight’’ I said to the owl, ‘’who’’ it said in response, ‘’Twilight, you know the purple unicorn that lives here… dumb bird’’ I said the last part silent. ‘’who’’ the owl said, ‘’TWILIGHT!’’ I yelled at it, ‘’who’’

I walked in town, I felt irritated and a bit stupid. I have spent a whole hour trying to explain an owl who Twilight was, before realizing it was an animal and couldn’t speak and only hoot. But now I was searching the town for her, after she ran away in terror from me. I decided to start at carousel boutique, I walked in and a little bell rang.

‘’well well, hello there Ace, I have been expecting you’’ Rarity said with an evil smirk, the door fell shut behind me and I heard it lock, I gulped. ‘’uhm I was just... well leaving’’ I walked back to the door and tried to open it, ‘’or not…’’ I looked back at Rarity and smiled. Her horn started to glow and multiple rolls of cloth flew up and rolled, they wrapped themselves around me, making me unable to move.

‘’What have you done with our little Twilight?’’ she hissed while glaring at me, ‘’n-nothing I swear! I-I was just looking for her when you attacked me’’ I said while dangling upside down. ‘’I don’t ask you a third time, what have you done with Twilight’’ she hissed again, several scissors flew up next to her, I gulped again.

‘’I did nothing, at least nothing bad’’ I said crossing me fore legs in front of my face, to protect my eyes from the sharp scissors. One of the scissors shot forward past my head cutting a piece from my mane and then moved back to position, ‘’I’m feeling extra generous today. For the last time, what have you done with Twilight!’’ she yelled, the scissors floated only an inch away in front of my face now.

‘’last night we drank a bit and then we cuddled and fell asleep together on the couch in front of the fireplace, we lay in a spooning position, is that enough? Please don’t kill me’’ I yelped the last part, by surprise the scissors moved away a bit. ‘’so and how do you feel about her?’’ she asked with a smirk. ‘’w-what do you mean?’’ I asked confused, ‘’zip it, I am the one who asks the questions! So how do you feel about her?’’ she again while glaring at me.

‘’w-why do you want to know, why are you doing this to me and where is Twilight!’’ I was getting angry and concerned about Twilight, ‘’ugh, just answer the question’’ Rarity said. ‘’No! Let me go, now!’’ I yelled at her. She shot another scissor forward, aimed at my mane again, I moved my head and intercepted it with my teeth and cut away my bindings, causing Rarity to yelp.

I jumped towards her and tackled her to the ground, ‘’what the fuck is wrong with you!’’ I yelled to the pinned down Rarity, she was panting in fear. ‘’I-I just w-wanted to k-know i-if you l-liked Twilight’’ she stuttered out, ‘’you could have just asked!’’ I shouted angrily and got of her. ‘’Hey Ace do you like Twilight’’ I said with a bad mimic of Rarity, ‘’yes I love… damnit’’ I looked back at a smiling Rarity. ‘’gotcha’’ she smirked, I suddenly realized how easy it was to snag the scissors from the air and that she did nothing to defend herself against me. It was her little dirty plan all along.

I helped her up from the floor, ‘’you just could have asked, I am a horrible liar…’’ I said with a little smile, ‘’I know’’ she said with a grin, ‘’but this was way more fun!’’ she giggled. I sighed, ‘’but how did you know’’ I asked. My question was answered with a simple gaze; she must have run directly towards here for advice.

‘’I know exactly what Twilight likes and I care about her, so I will help you make her your mare friend’’ she said while starting to bounce around. ‘’I’ll think I can handle it myself, if you are fine with that’’ I said and tilted my head to the door, ‘’can you open it, I have a mare to see’’.

I have been looking all day for Twilight, the sun was starting to set and clouds were floating in again, this time as planned. I walked into the park and sighed, ‘’common Twi where are you?’’ I asked in a whisper. I searched the whole park, nothing. ‘’Common Ace think, where could she be?’’ and then it struck me.

I took off and flew towards Sweet Apple Acres, ‘’the lake’’, when I was halfway there it started to rain and wind, making it unsafe for me to fly. I landed and ran as fast as my legs could go, I reached the beach of the lake and there she was sitting and staring over the lake. I walked towards her, my sounds were muted by the rain and wind.

I unfolded my wing above her, ‘’you’ll get sick if you sit in this rain’’ I said to her, she pushed herself against me, ‘’I knew you would find me’’ she whispered. ‘’why did you hide in the first place?’’ I asked confused, ‘’I needed some time to think’’ she mumbled and looked to me, she had been crying.

‘’Twi w-what’s wrong?’’ I asked as I looked in her purple eyes, now slightly red due to the crying, ‘’I have liked you for a long time now, but I am a student of the princes herself and not allowed to have any romantic relationships’’ she sniffed, ‘’I hadn’t have any problems with it, until I-I met you’’ she looked me in the eye.

I pulled her close to me, ‘’I do not want you to give that up for me… understand’’ she nodded, ‘’B-but I-I love you’’ she whispered. My heart skipped a beat; she moved her head towards mine and kissed me tenderly on the lips, a few moments later she broke the kiss and looked concerned at me. ‘’I love you too Twi’’ now I moved in for the kiss, making her gasp as soon as our lips connected.

‘’we are going to make this work, even if we have to keep it a secret to every pony’’ I said after breaking the kiss. She nodded and smiled, ‘’let’s go home, it is getting cold’’ she said with a wide smile, looking very happy.

We stood up and started to walk back to the library. There we walked, me with my new marefriend, and she with her new coltfried walking side by side. While i pulled her close and kept her dry with my wing.
