This story is quite small and confusing at points. As soon as the problem is found out, it is fixed. It is not my best story, but I hope you enjoy it!
Nightmare Loon
Nightmare Moon flew through the open window of one of her secret cave hideouts, away from sun, sand and Celestia. She aimed for the chair and landed, sitting down. Today the sun had shone brighter than ever (or so it seemed to), putting her in a bad mood. As she watched the glorious sun set, she got out a book from her almost – empty bookcase to read, until the moon and stars came up. Taking Over the Sun was an old book that Nightmare had bought in a disguise off Merchant Major Money. It was by Twilight Sparkle, but what did that matter? It’s not as if she had the brains to plant it for her to buy on purpose with a curse. Or rather, that’s what Nightmare Moon thought.
Taking over the Sun (An introduction to the basic steps of having complete control over the big ball of fire that is the sun, shining each day)
It is not an easy task. First of all, you have to have a wide range of spells, including levitation and knock-out curse. First, before Princess Celestia raises the sun, you have to use your powers to raise it first. Do this for a month or more until she seems to give up. Do it for another month, then, slowly, make the days shorter and shorter until the moon is always shining. If anyone ever starts a fight over the moon, your powerful curses (banishment, knock-out, imprisoning, fire rings etc.) will come in handy. Good luck!
‘Brief, but handy’ Nightmare thought to herself.
The next day, Nightmare Moon attempted to use her curses to raise the sun. She tried hard and it would have worked, if Twilight Sparkle hadn’t cast many powerful curses on the book. To give you an idea, these curses ‘mutated’ the spells performed by Nightmare Moon. The sun turned pink, and raced around the sky. The early-bird ponies were starting to wake up and when they saw the sun they cheered and woke up their relations.
Nightmare Moon was furious. Forget Nightmare Moon, more like Nightmare Loon! She tried a simple colour-changing spell on a boulder outside her cave and it swelled to a colossal size. Nightmare Moon groaned, then turned slowly redder and redder.
“I’m gonna kill you, Twilight SPARKLE!!” She yelled. Her yell could be heard by Rainbow Dash who was doing her morning exercises. She nearly dropped out of the sky, but sniggered after the shock. Twilight had informed her on what was going on.
“She’ll get ya first, Nightnight Loony!” Rainbow yelled back, giggling hysterically.
Nightmare scowled and zapped a bolt of magic at Rainbow Dash, or at least she tried. Pink sheep flew from her horn and floated down to Ponyville in rainbow parachutes.
“Hey, thanks!” Rainbow laughed, gleefully, before flapping away to tell Twilight.
“Time I tried some ‘Un-Curse Shampoo for your Purse’!” Nightmare whispered to herself, a scheme forming in her mind. It involved shampoo.
Dashing to her cave, she tried to remember where she had left her shampoo. Probably in her purse.
As she neared her den, she saw a rainbow blur.
“DASH!” shrieked Nightmare, turning purple with rage. When she landed outside her door, what she saw made her heart leap, but not for a good reason.
“Twilight!” She called, sticking to her plan. “We need to talk.”
“Oh, we do, Nightnight Loon!” sniggered Rainbow Dash. All of the Mane Six were there, and all of them were deadly serious, apart from Rainbow Dash who was feeding Tank.
“Shuddup, y’all!” Applejack whispered.
“Umm… Nightmare Moon, I’d like to hear your side of the story. I think I can help you, and I’m sorry that I cursed you. Do you accept my apology?” Twilight murmured, shaking.
Nightmare found it hard to say ‘No Way!’, but she didn’t. She was still fair.
“Yes. Anyway, about my side of the story, Celestia and I were eating Frosted Horse Shoes and-”
She was cut off by Rainbow Dash who sniggered. “Seriously, this much detail?” Applejack hit Dash’s side and she yelped.
“Ah said yer should shuddup! When ah were just a lil filleh, bein’ quiet were one oh the first lessons ma mom taught meh!” Applejack whispered.
“You two, shut up!” Twilight angrily whispered at the two ponies arguing.
“-and I just brought up the subject of everypony sleeping through my gorgeous night. She thought I was jealous and banished me. I escaped so I could take over the sun so that she could see how I felt, jealous. I know it wasn’t the best plan, but it’s done now. When I returned and tried to summon her you lot turned up instead. I became Luna for a while and helped Celestia after you defeated me. I kept trying to speak to her but she wouldn’t listen to me. She suspected that I was still Nightmare Moon, but she didn’t dare say. I then came here and tried to continue with my plan for I was angry at her for thinking I was still Nightmare Moon. I then turned back into Nightmare Moon, and when you messed it up I decided to find a way to un-curse myself and to try to apologise and become Luna properly, and here I am. The only thing is, she still won’t listen to me, I bet!” She finished and sighed.
Twilight nervously spoke up again. “I’ll help her see sense!” she exclaimed, and off she, Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash flew.
“Err…Guys?! What about us??”” Pinkie called.
“Guess we’ll just have to walk.” Rarity said, looking disgusted by the muddy track.
“C’mon, y’all!” Applejack called, and the three flightless ponies slowly plodded off.
“I’ll take you home!” Nightmare shouted, surprising even herself.
“Yer will?” a shocked Applejack and Rarity said in unison. Pinkie just stood there gobsmacked.
“Yep. They were probably so excited they forgot your lack of wings.” Nightmare Moon grinned and let them onto her wings.
“Thanks, umm… Nightmare Moon?” Rarity said, unsure.
“You are all welcome!” Nightmare laughed.
She flew off with the three ponies to their houses, then she swooped up into Celestia’s palace where she sensed Twilight Sparkle was.
“And that’s Nightmare Moon’s story. She wants to return to Princess Luna, but she thinks you will still suspect her.” Twilight was finishing reciting Nightmare's story as she landed noisily on the shiny, quartz floor.
“Sorry Celestia. I really am sorry.” Nightmare says, hoping for the best.
“I’m sorry too, I shouldn’t have suspected you.” She replies. Nightmare got the best!
“Now that that’s sorted,” Nightmare said smiling, “can someone help me get this curse off?”
Twilight handed her some of her shampoo. “Here. I thought you might want this!” she laughed.
“Thanks!” Nightmare says as she magics up a shower. She steps behind the curtain, washes her mane with the shampoo and comes out. To practice, she gets rid of the shower. Perfect.
“Thanks. Especially you, Twilight. And Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash, and Pinkie and AJ, and Rarity, and last but not least, you, my lovely sister, Celestia. Thanks, all of you.” Nightmare smiled, and so did everyone else.
Everyone lived happily ever after, apart from a few things, like Celestia’s fight with a coffee machine, but that’s another story…
