The Battle of Green Hills Part 3

As the sun rose the next day all of Ponyville was quiet. Both armies prepared themselves for the coming battle with Valiants soldiers polishing their armor and sharpening their weapons while the caribou performed a sacred ritual to prepare their warriors that induced them into a blind rage. While the troops prepared themselves, Twilight was in her bed chambers staring at herself in the mirror as she looked at the armor she was wearing.

"I wonder how my brother felt when he put on his armor for the first time?" Twilight wondered, looking at her reflection in the helmet forged for her.

"You'll have to ask him that yourself." A familiar voice called out to her from behind.

"PRINCESS CELESTIA!!"

"Hello Twilight." Celestia greeted her former student with a smile and a hug.

"It's so good to see you again! But what're you doing here?"

Celestia could see she was worried and had every right to be. Twilight was like the daughter Celestia wished she had and would often worry for her safety like any mother would whenever she and her friends would thrust themselves into danger.

"As ruler of Equestria, it is my duty to meet any threat and I fear this one may be more than you and your friends can handle." Celestia handed Twilight her helmet before escorting her out the door when she remembered something important she wanted to ask her.

"Um princess? Yesterday Valiant gave a speech to his men and called out a name-!"

"Sigmar." Celestia answered before Twilight could get to the last part of her question.

"Does that name mean anything?"

"It is the name of Equestrias first emperor." Twilight gasped in shock. She had studied history under Celestia since she was a foal yet not once did she hear of an emperor ruling Equestria.

"You seem surprised. Very few remember he existed at all."

"Who was he?" Always the eager student ready to learn, Twilight was curious about forgotten histories and that was one of the things Celestia loved about here.

"Long ago; Before Luna and I were born, before the founding of Equestria the land was covered in darkness. The tribes of Unicorns, Earth Ponies and Pegasai were at constant war with each other. One tribe fought against the other for land and wealth but there was one among them who could no longer stand the bloodshed of his own people. His name was Sigmar Heldenhammer. It is unknown whether he was unicorn, earth pony or pegasai but Sigmar swore to unite the tribes and end the conflict for unlike the others he knew that as long as they quarreled their lands were in danger from other nations. One such nation was that of the caribou lead by High King Stone Hoof."

"Stone Hoof?" Celestia only nodded to Twilights question before continuing her story.

"King Stone Hoof and his people ventured into Equestrian lands seeking conquest and plunder and knew that so long as the tribes were divided they could not make a stand against him and that is when Sigmar came in. In his youth he had begun to unite the warring tribes through his words and great deeds, one of which was rescuing the chieftan of the Griffons; King Grovers ancestor. In thanks of his selfless deed, the Griffons gifted Sigmar a mighty war hammer said to have been forged long ago by the first of their kind and it was with that hammer that allowed Sigmar to defeat Stone Hoof in the land that is now know as "Ghastly Gorge". A true testament to his strength and courage."

Twilight just stood there in amazement. Whoever Sigmar was he had earned his place in history yet what puzzled Twilight was that "if Sigmar was such a great warrior what happened to him?"

"After ruling over the land for fifty years. Sigmar was said to have journeyed to the Crystal Mountains where he ascended into the heavens; Becoming a god among mortals and leaving his warhammer for those who followed in his bloodline but after he disappeared the land fell into disarray once again."

Celestia seemed to be saddened as she told Twilight the events that followed after his disappearance.

"What happened to his hammer?"

"It was lost. The tribes began to squabble over who was worthy to wield it and in time it was hidden away until the day an heir to the emperor ascended the throne."

"Which is not likely to happen." Twilight became startled when she saw Valiant standing at the entrance. He seemed saddened at the story Celestia had just told her.

"What do you mean?"

"I mean that it's just a legend, one that I stopped believing in a long time ago. When the tribes began fighting again much of Sigmars bloodline was lost. The line of emperors was broken." He then proceeded to the exit as he fashioned his helmet. Celestia sighed in disappointment as he left.

Later that day

Both armies were assembled on opposite sides of the field. Clouds covered most of the sunlight as a strong gust blew across the field. Celestia and Luna stood in the center along with Twilight, Flash and Valiant while their friends stayed behind the safety of the wall.

"Bring forth the scout." Luna ordered as one of Valiants wolf riders came galloping up the left flank.

"Princess Luna. We have spotted an enemy outrider coming over the hill, he rides under a white flag."

Like always, both sides would send an emissary to offer terms of surrender before engaging in battle. Being of royalty Celestia, Luna and Twilight rode out to meet the emissary along with Flash and Valiant as protection. Just over the hill, a young buck astride what looked like a mobile throne was being carried towards the front lines by chained mares. All of which were whipped and naked.

"MOVE!!" The messenger shouted with a crack of his whip.

"KEEP GOING YOU BITCHES!!"

Just the sight alone made some of the soldiers blood boil including Celestia and Luna who were appalled by the sight as the caribou continued to lash out at the defenseless mares.

"MOVE!! FORWARD I SAY!! Stop here!!" The throne came to a sudden halt in front of the group guarding the gate.

"Who commands here?" His request was ignored as the soldiers stood at attention even when he began to boast about his title.

"I am general to the ruler of ALL the north lands. The warrior of warriors, Man among men and by that right I DEMAND that some one show me your commander!!" He shouted in anger towards the ranks yet still he was ignored and was starting to grow impatient until Valiant rode up with two of his elites carrying large claymores.

"I am Valiant Charge; I am the one who leads this army. What is your business here?" Valiant was atop his companion Fenrir who was now clad in battle armor. When the negotiations began the emissary broke out in a friendly smile.

"Word of your exploits have reached my kings ears. You and your men would make great allies." With a quick gesture an obese caribou slaver stepped forward with alone of slave mares and had been tugging at them like dogs on a leash.

"A token of friendship." The general smiled as the slaves were brought forth.

"Some of our finest whores sir."

Valiant dismounted to meet the slaver face to face. The slaver had a smug look upon him.

"Your finest you say? How do you know?" Valiant asked appearing to be interested.

"I tested them myself sir. Take this one here-Coco Pommel was it?-Ohh she's got quite the scream!" He boasted with pride. The mare looked away in disgust and began sobbing to herself. Valiant walked past each mare and could see the look of defeat on their faces before returning his attention to the slaver.

"When you say you "Tested" them. Do you mean?"

"Yes sir! fucked each one myself!" He once again lashed out at Coco with a firm smack to her flank that made the mare cry out in pain.

"Anything else?"

"No." That was the last thing the slaver heard before Valiant slit his throat open with a hidden dagger.

"You've told me enough." In one quick draw Valiant lopped off the slavers head. His eyes burned with a rage that could only be described as demonic. The general was outraged by this action and prepared to strike him.

"You will pay! YOU SAVAGE!!"

SNARL!!

Fenrir leaped to the defense of his master, ripping off the generals arm and toppling him from his throne. The mares who were carrying him ran behind Valiants soldiers while he pinned the wounded general to the ground.

"Ahhh! MY ARM!!"

"It's not yours anymore..." Valiant said coldly as Fenrir swallowed it whole.

"Return to your king, tell him he faces FREE people here! not slaves." The general began to laugh at Valiants threat as he began to stand.

"Free? Not for long. When King Dain sets his sights upon something he will not stop until he gets it! All of Equestria will fall! Your men will be our slaves, you women will be our whores!! And before this war is over you will have BEGGED for death!"

"Not today. Now go...." Every fiber of Valiants being was shouting for him to gut the brute beneath his blade but he knew better. When the general had left the men saw his armor stained with blood, for a moment their was silence until they all began to cheer, chanting his name.

"VALIANT!! VALIANT!! VALIANT!!"

Though conflicted, Celestia saluted her brave knight before joining Twilight on the wall as the enemies horns began to sound across the plain. Soon thousands of caribou soldiers began to appear on the hilltops, howling and banging their weapons like wild beasts while the Iron Wolves stood their ground, unphased by their taunts. A lieutenant marched from the ranks to give his enemies one last chance for surrender.

"EQUESTRIANS!!! LAY DOWN YOUR WEAPONS!!!"

His answer was a bolt fired from Emelyn; Valiants wife that blasted a gaping hole in his chest, killing him instantly. Valiant clamped down his visor as one of his men handed him a shield.

"YOU WANT EM?!?" He shouted back as they got into battle formation. Their steel ringing out like thunder.

CLANG!!

"COME AND GET EM!!!"

End.
