When King Sombra was defeated, a piece of his essence became bound to Twilight's shadow. The fragment erased Twilight's memories of her friends and Ponyville, reverting her to the loner obsessed with books and learning.

With Sombra continuing to whisper in her mind, he drives her to seek more and more hidden books and forgotten knowledge, driving her away from those she once cared for. As time passes and her power grows, Twilight's lust for knowledge begins to become dangerous for any being standing between her and the knowledge she desires...
