Prologue: Pony of my Dreams
"What?!" Swift said shockingly loud, almost everypony in the café looking at him.
"I'm sorry for your loss..," The nurse on the phone said sadly. Swift's parents had just died, and he was all alone. A few days later, Swift came home from a delivery to find that he had one new message. He pressed the blinking red button and began to listen.
"Swift, whenever you can, please call back. I have some urgent news about you parents," The voice sounded old and very brittle. Swift picked up the phone lying on the machine and dialed the number. The same old pony answered, "You don't need to say hello, this is a business conversation, not a chat." Swift was confused.
"Okay..." He could hear the old pony shift a little, as if he was standing up.
"When your parents were pronounced dead in the hospital a note was found in your dad's pocket. It said, 'The code is 4137'. Someone was sent to their house and found a safe hidden behind a cabinet. The code was used and within there were 4.8 billion bits and another note that said, 'Give this to our only child, Swift'. That is inherited money, and its yours." Swift almost dropped the phone along with his jaw. 4.8 billion bits? What was he supposed to do with that?
Again, some time has passed, except it was a month now. Swift now owned a newly built mansion sitting atop a large hill. Swift quickly opened his front door and ran down the hill. He had a new delivery to make. A set of the latest dubstep tracks and a Music Weekly magazine. This is the first time he had to deliver a weekly magazine, someone else probably does it instead.
He ran through the fields to reach the town and darted through crowds. He was a quick pony and a lot of people gasped in surprise when he almost ran into them. After about fifteen long minutes of running he finally approached a deep purple house that looked surprisingly warm. He practically hopped up the steps that led up to the porch of this house and rang the doorbell. He took a second to compliment his reflection in the window.
He was a light grey colored pony with a mix of a dark blue and black mane. He was wearing a black hoodie with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows and a pair of jeans he threw on. Swift snapped back into reality when he heard the door click open. He looked over to see a beautiful white unicorn with purple hair that was wearing these big, purple glasses that were set in her hair. She was wearing leather short-shorts and a DJ Krank T-shirt that was too big for her.
"Hey! Buddy? You okay there?" She said, snapping her fingers in front of his face. Swift didn't know what to say. Call him corny, but he just met the most beautiful pony ever.
"Hi..." He said, his eyes in complete awe. She tilted her head in confusion.
"Yeah, Hi. You're standing on my porch." Swift shook his head and remembered what he was doing.
"Oh! Your package!" He holds out a small cardboard box and she grabs it. She grins when she finishes reading the label.
"Aw sweet! I've been waiting for these!" Swift put his hand up in a way of goodbye and stepped off her porch. She said seeya and closed the door. As Swift walked back to his house, he saw a new bar or nightclub that was opening.
"Maybe I should go there tonight, I need a few drinks after these past few days," He mumbled to himself and kept walking. Hopefully it would be a party.
Swift didn't know why he convinced himself to go to that place. He didn't have anyone to hang out with there. He sighed and locked his door behind him, slowly walking down the trail that led to the town. When he approached the building he automatically knew that it was a nightclub from the loud "Wubs" that protruded from the open doors. There wasn't anyone in the line yet so he just walked in and sat at the bar. A young looking fellow walked out when he heard the creak of a stool.
"Hello sir, how may I help you?" He had orange-cream colored Fur and his mane was just darker. He wore a purple button up and black khakis. I smiled and said.
"Hard apple cider." He nodded and reached for something under the counter.
"Partying?" He pulled out a bottle and placed it on the bar-top.
"Haha, maybe," He said, reaching for his wallet.
"That would-be 5 bits," The bartender mentioned. Swift handed over the bits and grabbed the bottle. He listened to the loud music playing and tried to pry it apart. He couldn't understand it, everything flowed well, but he just couldn't see a story in it.
He heard some squeals coming from outside and turned his head to the door to see a group of young ponies, most of them mares. Except for three, which did not look excited to be here. It must have just turned ten o'clock or something because a lot more ponies started piling in and dancing. I didn't realize the DJ was already here. I looked up to the staging area, it was hard to see because of all the flashing lights. One of the lights turned towards the crowd, giving him a small window. The DJ looked really familiar but he didn't know why. He took a drink of his cider and almost spit it out all over the floor. That was the mare that he delivered the package to earlier today! How did he not know? She was a DJ? So many questions flooded his mind. He took another drink and it washed them all away. He just leaned back against the bar-top and watched, smiling even.
The only song that played that night with a word in it was "Electrical" and it said just that. When the music slowed to a stop and ponies were either stumbling or being carried out of the club. He sat there because he didn't have anywhere to be soon even though he was the only one there. Well, except for the mare. She walked down from the stage-like area and pushed her glasses up on the top of her head. She walked over to the bar and took a seat, once again the stool creaked. It seemed as if that was the bartender's bell to know when to come out. She ordered a drink I don't know and the bartender smiled. He was kinda worried now. She turned to Swift.
"Hey! You're that guy who delivered my package." Swift scratched the back of his neck
"Yeah, um... I'm sorry, I didn't catch your name?" She laughed.
"Oh yeah, sorry. I'm Vinyl, You?" Swift coughed.
"My name is Swift, nice to meet you." The bartender came back out with a bright orange drink in a weird glass. She handed over some bits and took a sip.
"Mmm... I needed this," She closed her eyes and let the taste wash over her.
"So you're a delivery guy?" She asked, her eyes open and looking at his.
"Well, kinda. I only deliver special orders though, and some of them have been pretty dangerous." She raised an eyebrow.
"My order was special? It was just a few CDs and a magazine." He laughed and nodded.
"Those discs were limited edition, not to mention brand new." She looked down.
"Wow, really? I didn't even notice." Swift took another drink.
"Don't worry, it wasn't a problem." She looked back up and smiled.
"Man, your cool." He realised that Vinyl already drank that entire thing and is halfway done with a second one.
"Geez, slow down a bit," He laughed. By the end of the night, four of those drinks were consumed by Vinyl, but the bar was empty. Where were they? Well Vinyl was passed out in Swift's arms as he carried her home. The door to that purple house was surprisingly unlocked. He set her down on a bed in which he guessed was her room. There were CD cases and clothes scattered everywhere, multiple posters of different DJs and album covers plastered the walls. Swift walked back downstairs, a little tipsy himself. He unknowingly layed down on the pillow covered couch that was there and passed out.
