Author's Note
To avoid confusion, "Crunchies" is a candy product I made up for this universe.
On a more related note, I'm surprised no one else went through with this idea.
Chapter 1
Bored out of her mind, a girl with long, slightly disheveled hair, stepped out of the cap. She wore a black top shirt, a lilac skirt, with three pink bats on it and sickly, dark green boots. On her hair, she wore a black, bat hair clip. The girls skin was grayed out, butter colored, making her look fairly sick. Finally she had naturally red eyes, which scanned the area she was standing.
A large school building emitted in front of her, with a huge grass field in front of it. The building itself wasn't really remarkable. The only thing that really stood out, was the broken statue, which used to be on top of some kind of mirror. How the mirror wasn't even slightly damaged or dirty, the girl could only speculate.
The cab drove off, leaving the new girl with her backpack at the school. She just hoped the guy would really deliver her luggage back to her parent's house. She had been nice enough to pay him a little extra for the service.
Not even trying to stifle the upcoming yawn, the girl proceeded towards the school building, all the way muttering about stupid, late airplanes and cheap airlines.
"Two days." the girl muttered. "How come they can't get a replacement plane, instead of letting me wait two fucking days at the airport?! When I get my hands on them....grr, they're lucky I'm on an apple diet."
Entering the building, the girl found herself inside empty hallways. No surprises there, after all, the first period had already started. Looking to the walls, she found the fire escape plan. Using it, she pinpointed the principal's office and made her way.
2 minutes later, she knocked at the principal's office, immediately afterwards hearing a female voice saying: "Come in."
The girl opened the door and stepped inside the office. A white skinned woman, with almost rainbow colored hair looked up from her computer. Her magenta eyes showed surprise upon seeing the girl. "Fluttershy? Oh, you must be Flutterbat!" the principal said in realization. "I'm sorry, but I guess you know how it is, when you're a twin. Please, take a seat."
"Yeah, it happens all the time. I'm used to it." Flutterbat replied, taking the seat she had been offered. "I don't get why though. Sure we look alike a little, but Shy and I have completely different personalities."
"I see." Celestia put her elbows on the desk, crossing her fingers. "To be honest, I didn't quite expect after tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. Fluttershy informed me about the complications regarding your return flight."
Flutterbat waved off. "As much as I would love to go home and take some much needed rest, I haven't even be able to come back on Christmas. The past e-mails have been...interesting to say the least."
"Okay..." Principal Celestia turned back to her computer. "Let me just check something, quickly. Ah, there we go. Your first period is history with Mr. Time Turner. Your sister has biology at the moment, so you won't see her until later. You're both lucky, though. Miss Cheerilee called in sick today and we weren't able to find a replacement for her, so you have the entire second period to catch up."
"Sounds cool."
"Great, let me bring you to your first class then." Principal Celestia stood up and was mimicked by Flutterbat.
Rainbow Dash didn't know why she needed to suffer through history class. Well actually she did, for she needed to take these lessons in order to join the Wonderbolts later on. What she didn't get was, why she needed history in order to join a stunt flier/military team.
Sunset was sitting next to her, looking equally bored, though not because of the same reasons. As it turned out, that girl was actually a complete nerd. It surprised everyone, when they found out. The girls up to this day kept it a secret. And since Sunset was a nerd (or had a nerdy side as she put it), she of course studied everything in advance. The result? Utterly and complete boredom.
However, this would change soon, as someone knocked at the door. A little distraught, Time Turner looked at the door. "Yes, do come in." the history teacher called. The next moment the door opened with the principal and a very familiar looking girl entered.
"Whoa." Rainbow nudged Sunset. "Isn't that...Fluttershy?" the sports girl asked her friend.
Sunset rubbed the sleep out of her eyes and looked again. "I guess? Wow, what happened to her?"
"Ah, principal Celestia. How may I help you?"
"I'm sorry for the interruption Mr. Time Turner, but I have a new student to introduce to you and the class. Everyone, I'm sure she looks familiar to you. This is Flutterbat, Fluttershy's twin sister."
Immediately there were murmurs around the students in class, as they observed the new girl. They in return were taken under observation by Flutterbat. Since Celestia introduced Flutterbat as Shy's twin sister, the girl concluded that her sister was somewhat popular in school. It sounded out of character for the shy girl, but Bat could ask Shy later.
"Well then, I'll leave you to your lesson Mr. Time Turner. Have a nice day, Flutterbat." Principal Celestia went back to her office, afterwards.
"Now then, Ms. Bat. Over there seems to be a free seat. If you would be so kind and take a seat."
"Of course." Flutterbat replied and made her way to the last row, sitting down next to Sunset Shimmer, who found herself now seated between Rainbow and Bat. The fiery haired girl looked over to the new one, who noticed this and gave Sunset a glare with her red eyes.
Sunset flinched under the glare and turned around immediately. Something told her she should not talk to Flutterbat during the lesson.
Flutterbat was the first one to exit the class, as she really needed to use the restroom. After she got out, she immediately went looking for her little sister, as she too would have a free period now. Finding her though was easier said than done, since the school wasn't really that small. After all, it was technically a high, middle and elementary school combined. There were so many scents mixed up in the air, that she wasn't able to pinpoint the smell of her sister.
As she walked down the hallways of Canterlot High, she could hear the students whispering about her. She didn't really pay much attention to their gossip, but picked up keywords like "Fluttershy" and "new look" and such.
It wasn't until she was about to turn around another corner, that she heard a very familiar voice talking to someone else.
"How is Opal doing Rarity? I hope the medicine I gave you helped against her tummy ache."
"Oh, she's doing splendid my dear, all thanks to you." the unknown voice replied to her sister. "Oh, did you hear the rumor? Apparently, we have a new student in school and she is already leaving an impression on the boys."
"A new student?" her sister replied. "But I thought Twilight was supposed to transfer on Thursday."
"Well, I'm sure they would have mentioned her name. It might be someone else, completely."
"I see. I just hope she is nice."
"That depends on how many of those Crunchies you're ready to share with me."
Fluttershy shrieked and spun around, ready to hide behind Rarity, but then she recognized the person standing in front of her.
"Flutterbat?"
Said girl grinned. "Hey Shy. Long time no see."
"Urrgh, I hope they have some bloody steak or something." Flutterbat growled, clenching her aching stomach.
"Are you alright sis? You look pale. More than usual I mean." Fluttershy spoke with concern.
"Only you would notice." Bat snorted at her sister's comment. "I'm fine. I have just holding myself back with the blood consumption. You know, people in Germaneia actually care, when they find a homeless dude unconscious in front of their hospitals with most of his blood missing."
"B-but you-"
"He stole from the other homeless." Bat interrupted her sister. "He deserved a little beating to say the least."
"That's horrible! No one deserves to be hurt, no matter what they have done!" Shy whisper- shouted at her sister, who only sighed, but still managed to crack a smile.
"Never change, Shy. There are not enough people like you in this world."
The two became silent, after they entered the cafeteria. Luckily for them the line wasn't that long as of yet, so they quickly came in front of the counter. Much to Flutterbat's annoyance, there wasn't anything unhealthy, meaning her stomach would be pretty empty for most of the day. To add to her dismay, most of the food that was offered was vegetarian food.
Forget diet. This is torture!
She got herself some fish and a bunch of apples, which the school apparently had more than enough, and waited for her sister to get her own order. Of course Fluttershy being Fluttershy went full vegetarian on the opportunity. As far as Flutterbat remembered, her one minute younger little sister stopped eating anything that even had only parts of an animal in it, when she was freaking three years old. It resulted into some interesting situations during their time kindergarten.
"Alright, where are your friends?"
"Oh, we usually sit at the other end of the hall."
"Lead the way. Might as well introduce myself to them."
Fluttershy smiled at the prospect of her sister finally meeting her friends, but everyone who knew her could see that it was a little uneasy. It hurt Flutterbat more than she let her sister notice.
On the table sat already five girls. Flutterbat recognized three of them, as she already met them today. But she only had the name of one of the girls. Every one of the girls looked up, smiling, when they saw their friend sitting down at the table. The smiles vanished and were replaced by confused frowns, as they noticed the other girl with Fluttershy.
"Well, hello there Fluttershy...and Flutterbat, wasn't it?" Rarity asked carefully. The other four girls gave Rarity a short glance, before refocusing on the new girl. Bat sat down next to Shy, looking straight back at Rarity.
"Yeah, that's me. Judging from your expressions, Shy never told you she had a twin sister, huh?" Bat spoke and took a bite into her apple, careful not to accidentally suck it dry in front of the others.
"Hell no! I mean she never even told me, about it!! What the hell, Shy?!"
"You must be Rainbow Dash." Flutterbat stated turning towards the blue skinned girl.
"THE one and only! I guess at least Fluttershy told you about ME!" Rainbow smirked with confidence.
"Your hair gave you away. She also said that you're really loud."
Pinkie Pie giggled at Rainbow's expression.
"Anyways, the reason you never heard of me, is because I pretty much asked her not to mention me to anyone."
This certainly surprised Fluttershy's friends. Before any of them could ask, Flutterbat answered the question before it could be stated: "I suffer from a special condition, a sickness. As a kid, I needed to be home-schooled and barely could leave the house. I was afraid to be called a freak or something, so not even you Rainbow Dash ever heard about me."
"Hey wait. I visited Shy a couple of times." Rainbow Dash interjected.
"Remember our parents never allowed you into their own room and our mom's workroom? Well the workroom is actually my room. Though, I never was there, when you visited. Had to spend a lot of time in the hospital." Flutterbat resisted the urge to spit out the salad.
"Oh. Sorry to hear."
"Never mind that." Bat waved off. "They got some new medication for me. Now I can actually have a normal life, instead of hanging out indoors the entire day."
"Well, that's good, I guess." Sunset smiled nervously. "I'm Sunset Shimmer by the way. You know, I'm sitting next to you in history."
Slowly, Flutterbat put her fork down and stared Sunset directly into the eyes, slightly unnerving the other girl. "So, you're pony girl. Or do you prefer unicorn girl?"
The eyes of the others went wide. Fluttershy tried to hide behind her hair, pretty much giving away it was her who gave Sunset's origins away.
"You told her?" Sunset asked Fluttershy, who nodded meekly.
"Considering that apparently the entire school knows it, plus those weird ass transformations Shy showed me, you can't really blame her for telling me, can you?"
"I didn't blame her for anything." The unicorn protested. "I'm just surprised, that's all."
"Uh huh." Bat nodded. "By the way, I never got the names of the rest of you."
"Oh raght. Pardon me, sugercube. Ah'm Applejack."
"And I'm Pinkie Pie. Do you like parties? I love parties! And cupcakes! Do you like cupcakes? Or do you love animals like Fluttershy? I have a little pet myself! An aligator! His name is Gummy and he's really, really small. That reminds me, my sister has a pet rock, Boulder! He-"
Rainbow put a hand over Pinkie Pie's mouth, perfectly stopping the girl from saying anything else.
"Yeah, sorry about that. She gets really excited, when she meets a new person." Rainbow Dash explained.
"Uh huh. Is she high or something?"
"Sugar High." Rainbow deadpanned, letting go of the pink haired girl.
"Hmm." Flutterbat swallowed her food, desperately trying to keep it down.
"Is the food not becoming for you, dear?" Rarity asked.
Shy's sibling waved off. "No, it's just not really that tasty. I'm on a diet right now."
"A diet?!" Rarity exclaimed. "Excuse me, darling, but I can assure you that you of all people don't need a diet. No offense, but you do look a little skinny."
"Oh you wouldn't belief how fast I get fat. When I start eating, I easily win every eating contest in the world."
"Oh yeah? How about one right now?" Rainbow challenged.
"Another time, alright? I'm way too drouzy for something like that. While we're at the subject of food, hey pony girl."
"Sis, please be nice." Fluttershy pleaded.
"Alright, Sunset Shimmer" Bat rolled her eyes "since you were a pony beforehand, did you ever try eating meat?"
Everybody at the table turned towards Sunset curiously. The "pony girl" had a hard time swallowing her fruit salad, the images of beef, pork and various other meat meals appearing in her head. And then from the animals they came from.
Flutterbat watched with amusement, as Sunset's face turned completely green. The girl quickly got up and made a mad dash for the bathroom.
"Wow." was all Flutterbat said, before she continued eating. However, there was an overall silence at the table and pretty soon the new girl found herself being looked at by the rest of the girls. Unimpressed, Bat looked at each of the girl's faces, until her gaze fell upon Fluttershy's disappointed face.
"Okay, fine. I'll go and apologize to her, jeez. Stop with the looks already."
At the woman's restroom Flutterbat found Sunset washing her face with cold water. The green on her face was gone, but overall she looked a little exhausted.
"Didn't expect you to react that way." Bats made herself known.
Sunset almost lost her balance, but laughed it off.
"Oh hey."
"Hey." Bats stepped into the room. "Sorry about that, by the way."
"Never mind." Sunset casually waved off. "It's just...back in my world....cows, sheep, mules and a ton of other "animals" are sentient creatures."
Flutterbat stopped dead in her tracks. "You're shitting me, right?"
Sunset smiled dryly. "Afraid not. Do you know how hard it is to keep your sister from going to the other side of the portal and get lost in Equestria forever?" In her mind, Flutterbat imagined a whole society of Fluttershy's, only that they're all ponies and do nothing but run and eat grass the whole day.
Shaking the thought off, Flutterbat resumed her steps. "Actually, this is pretty convenient. I wanted to talk to you alone, Sunset Shimmer."
"You do?" Sunset titled her head. The next instant, she found herself gasping for air, since Flutterbat had slammed her against the wall. With one arm she pressed the Equestrian against said wall, while with the other she grabbed into her pockets and took out a switchblade knife. Sunset's eyes widened, when she felt the cold steel against the bare skin of her neck.
"Just what game do you think you're playing?" Bats asked in an even tone.
"G-game?" Sunset gasped for air.
"Oh, you know. Just that you bullied my sister for the entirety of her stay here at this school, as she came home, wailing her eyes out?" Bats increased the force she used to pin her prey against the wall. "I was ready to fly back here and kick your sorry ass, but you know what? All of the sudden, everything is okay. Sunset had been and I quote "shown that what she did was wrong and that she truly regretted it". And all of the sudden you and my sister are the best of friends! I'm not an idiot Shimmer, so what the fuck did you do to my sister?"
Sunset's eyes widened in realization. Flutterbat was thinking of something similar to Stockholm Syndrome, when the victim of the kidnapping falls in love with their kidnapper. She needed to consider her words very carefully.
"You're not going to belief...anything I say, unless I "confess" I hypnotized your sister or did something similar." Sunset spoke as calmly as possible. Flutterbat could hear the heart of the girl beating as fast as if she was running a marathon.
"You're right, I won't." Flutterbat admitted. "Luckily I have a way around that."
And with that, the vampire girl stared directly into Sunset's eyes.
Author's Note
I wanted to include clop in this chapter, but sadly it just wouldn't have flown well with the story. I promise there will be clop in the next chapter, but I have yet to decide on the other participant. I had thoughts of the principals, Sunset as a follow up, Lyra or Bon Bon, since I recently read another vampire story including them, Octavia or Vinyl or both, the list goes on a little longer, but those are my top priority.
Do you have any suggestions? I should mention, I am fairly inexperienced in writing clopfiction, so bear with me please.
