Chapter 1 "the backstory"
1000 years ago
Celstia was pacing around the thrown room with a worried look upon her face, "what bothers thy, my sister?" Luna asked as she walked in, "King Sombra" she replied "Tia, we talked about this? We plan to use the elements to stop him!" "Yes, but that's not the part that troubles me..." With that sentence Luna has a confused look in her face "King Sombra, has a son. And he's becoming as powerful as his father." "WHAT!" Luna exclaimed surprised at the news "And I worry that by the time we use the elements he will be to strong." Celestia then looked at her sister "Luna, I don't know if we can defeat two Sombra's" Luna then thinking of an idea responded "don't worry my sister, I have a plan!"
Luna then swiftly ran to her private bat pony guards with a mission in mind...
Celestia, still worried. Sat in her throne thinking...
The next day, Luna sat in her room just finished lowering her moon. She heard a knock at her door "your highness! The scout is back!" Luna jumped up excitedly and walked out her room to see the scout. When she got to the barracks the scout was panting and still covered in snow. "Did thou find anything?" Luna asked hoping. "Yes your highness...
B-but I'm not sure how helpful it is.."
Celestia, was in her throne thinking... About many, many things. But her thoughts were interrupted when Luna ran up with a huge smile on her face "TIA we have amazing news!!"
"Yes sister?" Celsestia asked curiously "well, yesterday I sent a scout to the crystal empire... And I found out something quite helpful!" "What is it!?" "Sombra's son. Is still young!! He is not yet immortal like his father!!! Thus we can slay him with out needing the elements!" Celestia's head shot up at the news. Eyes wide. "That, changes everything... But how did you think up to send a scout? Wouldn't you just be hoping to find something useful?" Celestia asked, "well, if thou remembers, when we were young we were not immortal like we are now! So I thought maybe, just maybe, the same rule applies for Sombra and his son!!", "*sigh* very well." Celestia still bothered thought 'yes but in order to fallow that plan, I'd have to kill a young colt. NO, I'll just capture him and lock him in the dungeons, I have no intent to have to shed unnecessary blood'...
In the crystal empire...
A grey unicorn walked across the crystal halls, black flowing hair, a curved sharpened horn, steel armor, and elegant cape, and purple mist coming from his eyes! Yet this was not King Sombra! The unicorn was still young. And had no beard/neck hair like Sombra. Just a normal flowing mane, and his horn and cape were not a bright red like the King, instead they were a dark Amber Blood color and his armor was a slightly darker hue. He looked much like a younger version of Sombra.
Then a shadowy voice echoed through the halls "UMBRA!!" The unicorn, umbra, got a worried look on his face and started running down the halls making multiple turns till he reached a balcony. On the balcony with angry look on his face was King Sombra. "Umbra! Your late." Sombra said narrowing his eyes.
"Sorry father" Prince Umbra Apologized. "Son, soon you will gain full control off your dark magic and will even be able to become deathless like me, but you are still young and must learn to rule. As you not yet have! those pathetic Alicorns, I think they have plans to over thro-..."
Sombra just saw out of the corner of his eye a Pegasus behind him flying away before he could react he quietly said to his son "It looks like they know more than we think now." Sombra spat.
"Father, I assume we should push the plans forward?"umbra asked hopefully with a giddy smile on his face "You always have been waiting for a chance to use that thing, *sigh* Yes Umbra, Grab the sword..." With this Prince Umbra grinned ear to ear and ran off!
1 week later we see a battle going on between Sombra and the two sisters and below them hundreds of Royal guards fighting
Sombra's crystal legion. Then Celestia screamed to Luna "hold him off I shall return!" The Alicorn then descended to the crystal empire and into the palace where she saw him sitting there "Prince Umbra!" Celestia shouted at umbra who was on his thrown looking bored, looked up and smiled "celestia! How great it is nice to finally meet you!" Umbra said standing up walking up to her until they were jut across the room from each other and slowly walked in circles glaring at each other. "Umbra, surrender now! Or else, I'll have no choice" Celsestia Threatened "or else what? You'll kill me? Yeah right! Your too much of a goody two shoes!"
Umbra then charged At the princess sheathing a secret sword from under his cape swinging down at Celestia!
Right before it made contact celsestia summoned a large axe and blocked his blade. Celestia now with a saddened look on her face pushed umbra back. And charged him! they locked in battle blocking and dodging each other weapons until celestia managed to knock his weapon into the air, and before he could grab it she hit it in mid air with her axe, attempting to launch it across the room but instead the weapon launched at an angle, right and the Prince, "ARHH," umbra then fell to the ground. Dead. Celestia stopped, horrified looking at what she just did, yes she meant to stop him, but she didn't want to kill him, he was only a colt after all!! Then she heard a mad scream "CELESTIA!!!" She looked and saw the King looking threw a window furious with her after what she did! That's when Celestia remembered, her sister, they had to use the elements to stop Sombra before it was too late!! So she flied off to her sister and they use the elements to banish Sombra. Trapping him in ice(basically what they did In cannon). Then both Luna and Celestia flew back into the palace and Luna saw the body. Prince Umbra, still a young colt (not like a baby more like the ages of the mane six)
Lying on the ground, dead, with his own sword. Through his head.
Luna looked horrified at the scene "sister?" "I-I did what i had to do.." Celestia then flew off her sister behind her. Thats when Umbra twitched. And pulled the sword out of him and stood up, grinning "you foolish Alicorns" he said before he disappeared into the shadows. And after he disappeared he did exactly what his father told him to do, he cast a curse on the crystal empire banishing it! Trapped in shadow! Only to return when his father did!
After this umbra walked to a window. And jumped. Falling towards the ground, but before he he smashed into the ground he disappeared into the shadow once more and a low chuckle could be heard "I wonder what Canterlot looks like, close up" he spat before the shadow bolted across the snow towards the great mountain city...
