***Two Days Ago***

Celestia sips on her morning coffee contently. The dark, warm beverage soothes her throat tremendously. Putting her mug down, she resumed sorting through the most recent defense proposals that had been dropped on her desk. A tap on her door catches her attention.

"Ah, good morning to you, sister." Celestia says as Luna trudges into the study. "What brings you here? Should you not be in bed?"

Luna giggles happily. Instead of finding a chair, she plops her rump on the carpet below. Celestia cocks her head at her sister's strange behavior.

"Is... everything alright, sister?"

Luna could hardly control herself now. She was laughing hysterically, and Celestia had no idea of why or how to stop it. Luna takes a deep breath and pauses to try and control herself.

"I... I am sorry, sister..." Luna says as small 'giggles' escape her lips. "It's just... I have never been happier. I am so incredibly happy, and I need to share my feelings with some pony."

Celestia puts the proposals down immediately. Her sister's happiness was something that was not uncommon. In other words, she has never seen Luna so happy, like, ever.

"What is it, dear sister? What has you so happy that you must share it with me?" Celestia asks with a chuckle.

Luna jumps up onto her hooves and approaches Celestia's desk.

"Oh, sister, you will not beileve me, but I am in love..."

That answer did come as a surprise. Celestia almost spat out her coffee all over the defense proposals.

"You are... in love?" Celestia asks. "Luna, that is wonderful! I am so happy you have found a pony to share your heart with. You must tell me, who is this lucky stallion?"

Luna blushes and glances away. She wasn't sure of how to break the news. Her cheeks were feeling hotter by the second.

"Actually, sister..." Luna struggles to say. "The pony I have fallen in love with... is not exactly a... stallion."

Celestia cocks her head.

"Do you mean to tell me you are in love with a... mare?" She asks.

Luna hangs her head and nods. Celestia quickly stands up from her desk, and she walks around to embrace Luna.

"Sister, that is nothing to be ashamed of. I am happy you have found love. How long have you known this mare?"

Luna shrugs as she tries to recall the first time she met her lover.

"I... I first spoke with her at the first Nightmare Night I attended in Ponyville. She is such a strong and passionate filly... She helped me through a lot of personal troubles that night."

Celestia nods approvingly. Luna gives her sister a big hug before retreating to the door.

"I am impressed, Luna. I would love to meet this mare, someday."

Luna pauses and turns her head to look back at Celestia.

"Oh, there is no need for that, sister. You already know her quite well."

Now, Celestia was confused again.

"I... I do? Luna, you never told me this mare's name. Who is she?"

Luna simply smiles. Her grin stretched from ear to ear.

"My marefriend is Twilight Sparkle! Can you beileve it? I am on my way to see her, now!"

On that bombshell, Luna exits the study, trotting down the corridor happily as she sang 'Love Is In Bloom'.

Celestia stood in the center of her study staring at the door, her jaw hanging to the floor.

Twilight whistles happily as she trots down the corridor. She was making her way up the solar tower. She had a mission. It was time to come clean. Celestia had to know she was having sex with Luna. Celestia was her mentor, almost like a mother figure. Twilight hoped Celestia would accept her apology and they could still be friends.

*Yeah, right... I'm going to the bucking moon...*

Twilight shakes her head, clearing the bad thoughts.

*I could turn back now. Celestia doesn't have to know.*

Twilight' brain was screaming at her to stop, but her hooves kept moving her forward.

*No, Twilight! Turn around, damnit!*

It was too late. She was already at the study. Twilight's brain was pleading, begging her to stop, but she raises her hoof and knocks on the door. The door swings open instantly, startling Twilight. Celestia stood before her with a grief-stricken on her face. Her eyes were bloodshot and baggy.

"Oh... P-Princess..." Twilight gasps. "You look terrible. What's wrong?"

"You... You know exactly what is wrong, Sparkle..." Celestia hisses.

Twilight's heart leaps into her throat. Celestia already knew, and Twilight didn't tell her.

"Was my gift not good enough for you?" Celestia demands. "Was I not good enough for you? What caused you to choose my sister over me?!"

Celestia was in tears now. She retreats into her study and sits behind her desk. Twilight couldn't move. She had never heard the princess yell or cry before. The scene before Twilight made her want to start crying herself.

"I... I suppose it is my fault..." Celestia says in a raspy voice as she tries to control her tears. "I tried to force you to love me with the ring... Mother always told me it would never work... I guess I should have believed her... She was right. I am meant to be alone..."

"P-Princess..." Twilight manages to get out. "Please, don't say that. I... I do love you-"

Celestia glares at Twilight. The look in her eyes was pure malice.

"Liar..." She snarls. "Luna did always get the good ones... She is better in bed... Is that why you chose her over me?"

Twilight had enough. She stomps her hoof, startling Celestia.

"NO!" Twilight yells. "Luna used her 'gift' to seduce me, just like you did. When I first realized what the both of you were doing to me, I hated it, but you both told me the truth, and you apologized for it. Now, it is my turn."

"What truth do you have to tell, Twilight?" Celestia mocks. "That you slept with my sister? Yes, I already know that to be true."

Twilight shakes her head as she steps forward.

"No, princess. The truth is, I fell in love."

Celestia's cold gaze softens.

"W-What?"

"I fell in love." Twilight says again. "I fell in love with both of you. I love you and Luna with all of my heart. I couldn't possibly make myself chose between the two of you, so I... I thought I could make things work, at least for a little while."

Twilight turns around and makes her way towards the door. Celestia was stunned. She quickly stands and extends her hoof, trying to stop Twilight.

"Twilight, wait! W-What are you doing?"

Twilight turns her head and glares at the princess.

"I'm making the only choice I have left... I'm going home."

With that being said, Twilight exits the study, leaving a speechless and broken Celestia behind. The princess stares at the empty doorway as the sound of hooves clopping on the cold floor grows softer and softer.
