//-------------------------------------------------------// An old wives tale -by Steelwing Artorious- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// A fairytale? //-------------------------------------------------------// A fairytale? A little filly with a white mane and blue coat was snuggled into bed, her father who looked very different, a red coat and brown mane, kissed her forehead. As he turns around to leave the filly speaks up "Daddy, can you tell me the story one more time please!?" she pointed to one of the largest books "that one, i like that one...it's a little sad near the end..." he smiled "it gets better remember" she held her pillow close to her chest "OH YEAH" The father chuckles and picks up a book from the nearby bookshelf. "Sure sweetie, get comfortable." The filly nods snuggling into her blanket more as the father sits down next to the bed and opens the book. "Ok, this tale starts with one stallion who just wanted to rebuild his family... /\__|-|__/\ The night was quiet and no ponies were about, well, aside from a single sad looking mare. She had the most beautiful maroon coat and short grey hair. she was a catch for the stallions, that is, if any had the nerve to ask her out. The one thing that put them off was her right eye, it was always bandaged. On her flank were two intertwined gears, one larger than the other, nopony really knew what it stood for. The town was small and all the lights were off as well, Nothing much happened here, aside from a tragedy that happened three years ago. We shouldn't go into too much detail there ("what do you mean daddy?" he smiled "spoilers sweetie, spoilers") a grey stallion with the short black mane walked down the street his eyes blood shot and tired, his wooden right forehoof made mares stay clear as they found it a bit weird. Mostly because they all had all four of their legs, But he didn't notice as he was thinking all the time, always reminiscing as well. On his flank was a wrench over a brown gear, easily showing any ponies he was an inventor. ("what's an inventor again daddy?" she tilted her head as he grinned "a creator, grandpa was an inventor" she looked to the side at a small robot bird "ooooh") the mare looked up at the crescent moon and sighed, it was a long night at the cookie dough cafe [-'bakery and coffee, what's better'] and it wasn't without much flirting from the stallions around her, of course that usually stopped when she turned to them, her bandaged eye wasn't that hidden. She had also singed her tail on the oven earlier on along with kicking her hoof and dropping several plates, so that didn't make her feel any better either way. The stallion kept thinking about his nightmare, he had seen it again and needed a walk to calm his nerves..and his son who, thank Celestia, was at a friends house, yet it was still a little scary that he could be hurt at any time. But back to the stallion, he had lost a lot. More than he deserved, yet he tried to hide the pain, alas it was too much and a tear drops down his cheek to hit the road beneath him, it took all his effort to break down there and then. little did the mare know two dark figures stalked her, a unicorn and a pegasu- /\__|-|__/\ "oooh! it's them, i hate them, they're EVIL!" the filly punched her pillow before pouting angrily "I know.." the father frowns a little "...but don't worry they won't hurt you." Then he continues reading... /\__|-|__/\ -pegasus, they were donned in dark cloaks as their eyes glowed slightly within the darkness, they seemed to be arguing over something the pegasus looked at the unicorn "are you sure this will work, what if there is someone nearby...and is it really...her?" "of course it will...unless HE interrupts again" "but he lives here..." The unicorn grumbles "I know....our creator lives here but we must get the mare for our master." He scowled as he says 'master'. "i still say we wait..." "we are waiting..." the pegasus nearly facefaults "i mean until we KNOW he won't stop us" the unicorn glares "do you take me for an idiot? Of course that's why we wait!" "but..UGH" he smacked his head on the wall leaving a small indent withing it "Look I've calculated every possible outcome if we attack now, and everyone of them is a failure." He glares at the Pegasus, who in turn glared back "she DOES have the element, you must understand that this mission is crucial" /\__|-|__/\ the filly looked up at her father "Too much talking daddy..." she grunted in anger. The father chuckled with a smile "sometimes that's a good thing...you must learn patience. " he looks at her kissing her forehead as he turns the page "but i don' wanna" she looked away crossing her hooves He sighs and pats her head "don't worry the good bits are coming." she starts throwing a small tantrum "but i want them NOW" He looks at her sternly "be patient or I won't read the story" "NO!" she huffs He frowns at her and closes the book as a bit of dust kicked up from the cover "Well then I guess you won't be hearing the rest of the story tonight... it is past your bedtime too" she put the covers over her head with a 'HMPH'. The father sighs and puts the book away and leaves the room, once he was out he chuckled "just like i was when it happened.."
