Second Chances

Tirek couldn't believe his eyes. The man that he had been fighting since it arrived in Equestria, the one that had foiled his plans of getting the Alicorn magic, the that he had been beating with so little effort, was a Saiyan. Tirek hadn't seen a Saiyan in years, much less ever fight one. The last Saiyan he ever met had prevented him from obtaining all the magic in Equestria, and it seemed that this one was inadvertently following in that one's footsteps. But Tirek had made mistakes in his last fight; mistakes that he did not plan to replicate this time. I must not show fear, Tirek thought to himself, or I'll anger him further. I have to win this time. If I don't, then it' all over. Tirek took a battle stance, mentally readying himself for what would no doubt be his greatest, and last, fight.

Broly looked at Tirek readying himself and grinned. "So you're going to fight me, despite our difference in power? You've got guts. I like that in a warrior. Tell me, who are you, and what is your purpose here?"

Tirek swallowed his fear as he said, "I am Lord Tirek, and my goal is to rule over Equestria by draining everypony of their magic. The only obstacle in the way of that goal is you, Saiyan."

Broly took a fighting stance as he said, "My name is Broly, and if you want to rule this world so bad, then you will just have to defeat me. Think you're up to that task, Tirek?"

Tirek's fear faded into excitement as he smiled and yelled out, "Let's find out, shall we, Broly?!"

"Yes, we shall!", retorted Broly as the two flew up into the air and seemingly vanished. Though the two could not be seen, one could see shockwaves every time they clashed. The two fought fiercely, both refusing to give the other the upper hand. The two would occasionally appear, with Broly throwing Tirek into a nearby mountain, or Tirek slamming Broly into said mountain. But what neither of the fighters knew was that they were being watched. Discord, who had arrived in time to see Broly's transformation, was watching the fight from a safe distance, and was overwhelmed by the sight.

This is insane! Discord thought to himself as he watched the battle unfold. Their power; it's unbelievable! I never thought anyone could be so strong! That Saiyan's power exceeds even mine! It's a good thing that Saiyan seems to be on our side; otherwise, this planet would be doomed for sure! As Discord continued to watch the fight, another thought crossed his mind; he was out of practice with his own energy. It had taken a lot of effort to be able to something as simple as generating an aura. He looked up at the two warriors, making a mental note to himself to get back into training after this was over.

Meanwhile, far away in Otherworld, on a path known as Snake Way, two other beings were watching the battle unfold. "Did you see that, King Kai? He somehow managed to ascend beyond Super Saiyan, just like Gohan did back at the Cell Games!" exclaimed the first being as he watched the fight with excitement.

"Indeed, Goku," said the second being, identified as King Kai, "and to add to our luck, Broly does not appear to posses any evil in his heart."

"What?! Are you you serious?!," exclaimed Goku with surprise. "But I thought Broly was pure evil! How can someone like him suddenly become good?"

"That's easy to explain," said King Kai. "As you know Goku, your home planet, Planet Vegeta, was destroyed long ago."

"Go on," said Goku, staring at him intently.

Well, when the planet was destroyed, Broly's mental state was left with extreme trauma; too much, in fact, for his mind to take. As a result, his mind split in two. One side of him remained pure; the other side developed into the monster you know of as the Legendary Super Saiyan. But somehow, as a result of you defeating that part of him, his true side has finally been able to emerge."

"But I don't understand, King Kai," whined Goku in confusion. "If this is Broly's good side, then where is his evil side? Is it still in his body, or is it somewhere else?"

King Kai appeared to concentrate for a moment before saying, "I can't say, Goku. All I know is that it's no longer inside him. For some reason, though, his evil side hasn't passed into the afterlife."

"How do you know that, King Kai?" asked Goku.

"Because if Broly's evil side had passed into the afterlife, then you would have fought him, wouldn't you?" King Kai said in a questioning manner.

Goku then thought for a moment and said, "Now that I think about it, I would've felt his energy if he had died, because he would've shown up at King Yemma's palace, and I would have fought him. But if he's not dead, then where is he?"

"I wish I knew, Goku," said King Kai with a sigh as he looked up into the sky. "I wish I knew..."

Broly and Tirek continued fighting, neither refusing to give up. But as time wore on, Broly began to slowly, but surely, overpower Tirek. Tirek's eyes began widen in fear as the Saiyan began to overpower him. Suddenly, Tirek jumped backwards and began to form an enormous orb of red energy between his hands, as well as an orb of magic between his horns that was equal in size. Broly looked at the sight with mild amusement. "So, that's it, then? You're really planning on destroying me?" he said, smiling.

Tirek glared at the Saiyan, exclaiming, "I will not let myself lose to another Saiyan! Prepare for oblivion!" He then threw the orb of energy and fired a blast of magic behind it, pushing it toward the Saiyan.

Broly smirked as a small orb of green energy formed in his hand. He then looked at the oncoming attack and said, "Then our fight ends now. Take this, Tirek! Omega Blaster!" He then threw the green orb at the oncoming attack, the orb expanding to equal the size as the two attacks met in mid air, creating a clash as the attacks sought dominance over each other. Tirek pushed more magic into his attack, causing the two orbs to shift toward Broly. The Saiyan responded by simply firing green-colored energy orbs into the larger one, pushing the two attacks back into place.

The two fighters continued pouring all their power into their attacks, but as time wore on, Tirek reached his limit, and his attack was slowly pushed toward him. He tried to push the attack back, but it was all in vain as the attack began to engulf him. So this is how it ends, he thought to himself, destroyed by the very mistakes that cost me my last fight. I can't honestly say that this was an unexpected result. Despite the things that I've done, I regret nothing! I'm gone, and i'm going out with a bang! Tirek then gave a wide grin, laughing as his body was disintegrated by Broly's attack. When the dust settled, nothing was left; Tirek was no more. Broly sighed as he floated toward the ground, his hair returning to it's black color as he landed.

"It's over," sighed Broly, "you can come out, whoever you are." He turned to see one of the oddest creatures he had ever seen. The being appeared like it just couldn't decide what it wanted to be, and had settled on being part everything. "Who are you?" asked Broly as he looked at the creature with confusion.

"I am Discord," the creature said timidly.

"Where are the others at?" asked Broly.

"Somewhere in Everfree Forest, I believe," said Discord.

Broly smiled as he put an arm around Discord and started walking towards the forest. "Well, let's go give them the good news, shall we?" he said, getting a nod in response from Discord. As the two walked, Broly looked up toward the sky, his thoughts drifting to his darker half. I know you're not dead, Monster, he thought to himself, and when you come for me, I'll be waiting. I've never been able to have a life because of you, but that's in the past. You will not take another life, Monster. And that is a promise.
