A Broken Twin

A Broken Twin.

The haunting moments creaked into her head and dreams as she slept. No matter how many tears she cried, more were produced. She missed her family. She felt incomplete with foster parents. And broken without her twin. Even if she was evil, she loved her with all her heart. But she only had one heart, and it was shattered, leaving her with bluntness.

"Oh Scarlette," Candy told her, in a silky voice. She picked up a knife and cut one of her pigtails off. "You're a little bitch." She said sourly.

Sugarcoats eyes snapped opened as she quickly arose from her bed. Her white hair was messy and damp with sweat, and her sheets were thrown around. Another nightmare. Sugarcoat told herself. She put her bright orange glasses on and sat on her bed, motionless. And broken.

Candy had been her twin sister. She had been crazy in the head. When they were eight, she killed her parents out of cold blood. She never remebered how, because Candy had hit her head, making her forget the moments. She had woken up in there attic, against the wall. Her head was bleeding, and Candy had herself a whole knife collection in her hand.

"What if I gave you a bob," Candy asked, putting a knife under a chin. "You'd look just like me." She lifted the knife as if it was a mirror and looked at herself. "You'd look pretty for once."

That's all she'd dare to remember about that day. She also remebered how she'd ran away from Candy, by jumping out the window. She ran to an orphanage, changing her name from "Scarlette" to "Sugarcoat". Something that had to do with sweets, like her sisters name.

Her foster parents were super nice. And welcoming. She felt like she was home when she wasn't. It made her happy. But sad aswell. To hide her tears and pouts, she was always blunt. To teachers, to friends (who loved her anyway), to anyone. And anytime someone brought up twins, or murder, Sugarcoat had the same excuse.

"I need to use the bathroom." She'd state bluntly. Then she'd run to who knows where and cry.

Without even knowing it, she felt herself crying. She ripped her glasses off and sobbed as silently as she could, so nobody would hear. Wetness filled her hands and her glasses looked as they'd been layed in the rain for hours.

"Sugarcoat?"

She froze and flung everything back to place as if she was never up. She eyed her clock as she quickly flung herself down. 7:30 PM. "Crap!" She yelled, getting up.

"Hey," she heard her foster mom yell. "No swearing."

"My alarm clock died!" Sugarcoat yelled as she went to check the outlet. Ofcourse it was unplugged. So was her phone outlit, making her phone be at 5%. "Grand," she mumbled.

Sugarcoat did her whole pigtail hairstyle in five minutes. It took long because she kept ripping it out. No wonder I have so many broken hairs. Sugarcoat thought.

"Cmon dear!" She heard her call again.

She cussed many times under her breath as she threw navy blue leggings on, a plaid skirt, her purple cardigan, and her glasses. She put her socks and shoes on before grabbing her backpack and a bottle of mascara she would just do in the car.

"I'm coming!" She yelled as she sprinted up and out her window door, without grabbing anything to eat.

The ride to school was one thing only, Sugarcoat struggling to put mascara on. She put it on and it was to clumpy. Or she got it in her eye. Or sence she'd just balled her eyes out, the mascara would get on the top of the skin near her eyebrows.

"You need to borrow my eyelash curler?" Her mom offered, reaching for her purse.

Sugarcoat quickly put her hand out to show she declined. "No thanks, Sunny Flare will have one."

She glared out the window to see CPA out her window. She breathed deeply. Another day in hell, as Indigo Zap said.

"Have a good day, love you."

Sugarcoat turned and smiled as she was half way out the car door. "Love you too." She faintly replied, telling tears in her mind to go away.

Sugarcoat entered her first class at 7:45 am, which yes, is very late a CPA. As she entered, her friends, Indigo Zap, Lemon Zest, Sunny Flare, and Sour Sweet waved her over. As she began to walk in, her teacher stopped her in her tracks.

"Why," The chemistry teacher asked, "are you late?"

"Because I wasn't on time." Sugarcoat replied bluntly, making Lemon Zest giggle.

"Oh don't be so blunt Sugarcoat." She demananded, handing her a Detention Pass. "Why we're you late?"

"I woke up late." Sugarcoat replied, feeling embarrassed while keeping a bluntly straight face. The chemistry teahcer gasped. "I know, how tragic." She said sarcastically.

The chemistry gave her a shove towards her friends. "Sit down candy."

Sugarcoat stopped in her tracks and her eyebrows went up. She turned around, furious. "What did you just call me?"

"Candy?" The teacher raised and eyebrow. "I call everyone candy."

"Do not call me that name again. Ever. You understand?" Sugarcoat demanded, not scared for a fight.

The teacher laughed. "I'm sorry candy, but I'm the teacher. I have the right to call you whatever."

Sugarcoat took a deep breath. "I guess that then gives me the right to call you a bitch."

Everyone gasped, and some laughed. Indigo definitely laughed.

"Well, that's a brilliant plan Sugarcoat!" Sour Sweet enthused sarcastically. "Call the teacher a bitch to her face! Maybe you'll earn yourself another detention!"

Sugarcoat froze, relizing what she'd done. She'd talk smack about teachers behind there back (and students), but never would she dare to say it to a teacher. She turned to the chemistry teacher, who was red. "Principle Cinch's office. Now!"

Principle Cinch turned once more in her swively chair, while Sugarcoat sat on her dull stool waiting for punishments to be thrown out. She gave the Principle a blunt face everytime she turned her chair. Finally though, she stopped. "I expect more from you, Sugarcoat. Especially after this morning."

Sugarcoat rolled her eyes as Cinch said more. "Calling a teacher a bitch?" She picked a pencil up. "I think you'll be the first student to make a teacher go home and cry."

"Look," Sugarcoat bluntly inturuppted. "I was rude, and stupid. But this monologe and chair spinning is getting on my last nerve."

Cinch stopped spinning in her chair and crossed her hands on her desk. "I'm sorry," she said sincerely. "I'd hate to make a student like you uncomfortable."

"What do you mean by a student like you?" Sugarcoat asked, raising and eyebrow.

"Your parents died when you were how old?"

"Your parents taught you manners when you were how old? Never clearly."

"How old were you when your parents died?"

"Eight." Sugarcoat tried with all her might not to leak tears.

  "How'd they die?"

She rolled her head. "A car accident."

"Tragic." Principle Cinch turned in her chair again.

"Don't give me that Kim K. sass." Sugarcoat demanded, standing up.

  "Don't lie to me."

"Do you not know your K's?"

Principle Cinch sighed before yelling out, "I mean you parents!"

"A car accident. I already said that." Sugarcoat repeated, getting annoyed and upset.

Cinch laughed. "They were killed, Sugarcoat."

She froze. Her jaw was left opened and her heart was pounding. No, she doesn't know. She can't. It's utterly impossible. "No," she went back to blunt. "it was a car accident."

"It was a murder. I know that. Because I worked as a forensic for eight years." Cinch spun around in her chair once more. "And there bodies were brought in. I also sare Candy. She looked exactly like you. Even now you still look alike."

Sugarcoat gulped nervously. "Are you saying that I lied about my parents for all these years and lied about the fact I have an identical twin sister named Candy because that is definitely not true if you think that."

"Who said anything about a twin, Sugarcoat. Or shall I say, Scarlette?"

Sugarcoat thought she would vomit. After so many years, so many cries, lying so much, finally, someone knew the truth. And ofcourse, it was a teacher who hated her guts. She never understood why Principle Abacus Cinch hated her so much, all she did was a prank where she pushed a cow off the roof. So what she almost killed Twilight Sparkle, her prized student? Nobody liked her. That sounded nasty in Sugarcoats mind but it was truer then anything ever.

"No, you shall say Sugarcoat." She said, shrinking in her chair.

"I know your story, Scarlette. Your sycophantic sister Candy. How you miss her. I understand you, dear." Cinch reached her hand out and touched Sugarcoats hand.

"Nobody understands me." Sugarcoat sighed, feeling as if she could be honest for once. "Something in Candy snapped that day. It's as if someone replaced her with a demon."

Cinch looked sincerely. But that wouldn't last for long. "Obviously, you could get arrested or put in prison for this, correct?" Sugarcoat nodded. Cinch leaned back in grinned. "So I have a task for you."

Sugarcoat snapped out of her depression daydream. "A task?"

"Simple as anything." Cinch stood up and walked to a trophy display. She opened it and took a shiny gold trophy out. "We are victors at beating CHS, correct?"

  "Never lost." Sugarcoat said.

Cinch smiled. "They have an amazing played under the name of Spitfire. She's grand at sports. And, not to mention she will dominate are chances to win."

  "Your point, Principle Cinch?"

"Kill her." Cinch demanded, putting the trophy back.

  Sugarcoat choked on air. "What?"

"Kill her," she repeated, "or I will let everyone know you faked your own death and became Sugarcoat."

"Please Cinch, you can't to this. Blackmail me!"

Cinch turned around and grabbed Sugarcoats chin. "Watch. Me."

Sugarcoat let a puff of air out, while tears began to stream down her face. "You have 24 hours." Cinch demanded. "Or you can forever be known as Scarlette."

"What did she say Sugarcoat?" Indigo asked, shadowing Sugarcoat as she grabbed a book in her locker. "Detention? It would be nice to have a buddy for once."

"You already have her as a buddy in detention, dearie " Sunny Flare told her, pointing to the pass Sugarcoat had stuffed in cardigan.

Indigo pumped her fist in the air. "Yes!"

"Actually," Sugarcoat said bluntly as she threw a yellow raincoat on, "I'm ditching detention."

"So you can earn another one!" Always sarcastic Sour Sweet said, shrugging gracfully. "You'll have more detentions then stars in the freaking consolation!"

"I'm sorry I'm not a goodie goodie like you Sour Sweet." Sugarcoat apologized in her normal boring mood. "But I have to go to this baby shower with my mom. It's for my cousin."

"Isn't your youngest cousin your age?" Indigo asked, shutting Sugarcoats locker for her.

Sugarcoat bit her tounge. "No...?"

"Okay." Indigo said as she raced away to her next class, without saying goodbye.

"You're acting strange," Sour Sweet commented from behind Sugarcoat, who watched Indigo turn into a little blob of blur in the hall way. "Is something wrong?"

"No," Sugarcoat turned to walk away, as she hit the frame of the door, she turned to Sour Sweet. "I got sick, if anyone ask."

Sugarcoat but her hoodie up, before bolting away towards a bus, she hoped she could catch to CHS.

The bus ride was 45 minutes of Sugarcoat worrying. What if Sour Sweet told she ditched? What if she didn't kill this Spitfire girl? What if Cinch told? What would happen? Jail? Death? Sugarcoat breathed heavily as if she were going to cry as she crossed her legs on the bus seat. Only about seven people were on the bus, and nobody really made contact with her. Until one person got up and sat next to her.

Sugarcoat uncrossed her legs and put then on the ground. "May I help you?"

The girl looked at her with conscious. She had black hair and pail skin. She also had a pin on. "Bella, Bella W. I can't help but notice you look like a patient who went to ND."

"ND?" Sugarcoat uncontrollably questioned.

"Noah's Dawn. A mental hospital. You look like a girl named Candy. Is that your name?"

Sugarcoat sighed. This day is going great! Fabulous! Shoot me now. "My name is Sugarcoat and I've never been to a mental hospital in my life."

"Canterlot! All off for Canterlot!" The bus driver yelled, making everyone look.

"That's me." Sugarcoat stood up and put the hoodie to the yellow coat up. "It wasn't nice to meet you." She told Bella, getting off the bus. She put her hands in her pockets and watched as the bus drove away, down the road. And there she was, face to face with Canterlot High School.

Sugarcoat took small steps towards the building. Then she gulped. This was going to be a terrible day.

"Hey!" A girl with bacon colored hair yelled. She turned to her. She sat under the statue of the mascot. "Do you even go here?"

Sugarcoat nodded and kept walking towards the building. She turned back, and sare the girl was approaching her. "Leave me alone." She demananded, entering the building.

"Spitfire, Spitfire... where is she?" Sugarcoat asked herself, hiding the knife she had in her jacket.

"Hey!" The girl from the statue called. "What are you doing?"

"Go away." She replied in a dark tone. She the quickly walked towards the gym, where Cinch informed she'd find Spitfire. She also gave a picture of her that she'd memorized on the way there. She looked very unique, making it not hard to find her.

As she opened the gym door, a class was playing volleyball. Without being noticed, she examined the room. She found the girl was coaching the rest of the team. Is she that good? To coach? Or does this school have no money to pay for an actual coach, like CPA? Probably the second one.

"Hey, you!" Spitfire, the girl, finally called out. Sugarcoat snapped out of her focus and walked towards her. "You clearly don't go here."

"I'm actually a student here," she lied. "I need to talk to you in private, miss. Soarin told me to tell you something." Sugarcoat yes, had tooken the time to learn some of her friends names.

Spitfire grabbed her sholder and pulled into the bathroom. When Sugarcoat had said private, she didn't mean like this. This was actually pretty uncontrollable. In the bathroom with a stranger. "What does her need to tell me?" Spitfire the asked.

Sugarcoat grabbed the knife out of her jacket. "I'm sorry, " she apologized before stabbing her sholder. Spitfire eyes went pail and she fell to the ground. Dead. Sugarcoat closed her eyes to hide tears. Nobody knows I'm Scarlette. But now... I'm a killer.

Without noticed, she felt Spitfire kick her in the stomach and grab the blade. Sugarcoat reached for the door and tried to unlock it, but to her shock, it was locked. She was trapped. She stood up and tried many times, but it was no use as Spitfire got up and put the blade to her neck.

"What's your name?" Spitfire yelled as blood oozed out of her cut.

  "My name..." Sugarcoat sighed. "Scarlette."

Right as the words slipped out of her mouth, the metal door slammed open, and two woman came in. I me had long purple and blue hair while the other had green, purple, yellow and pink hair. They gasped at the sight. Sugarcoat bashed threw them, escaping Spitfire grasp, and ran towards the front entrence, but was stopped when the bacon hair girl called someone, pointing to Sugarcoat, who's face was concealed by the shadows of her hood.

"Freeze!" An officer demanded, as Sugarcoats mocs skid on the floor.

"No!" Sugarcoat yelled, trying to run to the door. Officers didn't let this slide. They quickly gripped her arms and legs. She kept shouting no, kicking, a refusing arrest. "I didn't do anything wrong!" She shouted as everything became blurry.

"But her down." A female officer demanded. Another officer nodded, grabbing a needle and putting it into Sugarcoats arm. Sugarcoat didn't know how, but she drifted of to sleep...

She woke up in the mental hospital Bella had mentioned one the way to CHS; Noah's Dawn. She was horrorfied and confused, and she didn't remember what had happened.

Apparently, she had gone crazy over competition, so she should stay in Noah's Dawn for a little while. She didn't know how long a little while was. A week? A month? Years? Anyone who want in, supposedly never came out. And she wanted to get out quickly.

Weeks passed, she was basically alone. Principle Abacus Cinch never had said anything about her identity, which was a relief. But nobody except her foster parents knew about Noah's Dawn. All sort of communication with her friends was blocked away. She had no phone, no wifi, no laptop, nothing. Socially alone.

CHS hadn't known her identity, and won't. That was also blocked away. Sugarcoat, with all her heart though, hated that bacon haired girl who basically rated her out and stalked her.

She didn't leave her room for three days. She was to embarrassed. But then she was forced to sit out in the "living room", where there was a piano, couches, chairs, tables, and desk. I guess it wouldn't kill me to read a book or something on a couch. And it's not like I have to talk to anyone. Sugarcoat told herself.

So, she grabbed a novel The Hunger Games and went to the living room area. She opened the book to the part about these "Careers" and how they seemed like shit heads.

As her focus glued into the book, she began to easdrop on a conversation two girls were having. One was handing out cookies to nurses, clearly not a patient, and another sat on the couch, clearly a patient.

"You've won. There's no need to gloat." The patient, who had long curly orange hair, told the girl handing out cookies, who had Rainbow hair.

The cookie girl laughed. "Gloat? What? Am I five? We're teenagers here. I don't know what they did in Equestria, but it's sure as hell not what they do here."

"Stop." The patient said. "Leave me alone bitch."

"Bitch?" Cookie girl laughed all crazy like. "You think I'm a bitch? I'll destroy you in five seconds and kill you in ten."

Sugarcoat slammed her book shut. She wouldn't let someone insult an innocent girl. "I hope you have fun in prison when you get arrested." Her bluntness returned, taking a stab at attitude.

The girl with cookies turned at her. "I'm sorry, who asked you?"

"Leave the girl alone or I'll make sure there's nothing left of you but your rainbow hair and your cookies." Sugarcoat threatened, standing up and grabbing a cookie. She bit into it with attitude and pride.

"When death wishes are handed out," cookie girl walked next to Sugarcoat. "You and her get the first ones."

The cookie girl flipped her hair and walked down the hall, towards the elevator, and then dissappeared.

"Thanks," The girl with the orange hair said, making Sugarcoat turn to her. "For doing that-"

"It was nothing," Sugarcoat replied, sitting next to her. "Bullies need to be brought down."

"She brought me down before, " The girl told her emotionally. "And I thought she was good. She was very wrong. I never knew she'd threaten me while handing out Miss Ya! cookies."

"Was she a patient here?" Sugarcoat asked.

The girl nodded. "I didn't know until today. She didn't seemed un-wacko at school."

"Kinda like my principle."  Sugarcoat joked. She didn't actually exspect the girl to laugh.

  "Same." She responded, smiling.

  "My name's Sugarcoat." Sugarcoat greeted.

The girl smiled. "I'm Adagio Dazzle."
