A weapon of fear used during the time of the great war, was hidden under decades of dirt. A unicorn archaeology stumbles across it while in the search for knowledge of the past and unsure of the strange crystal like rock tries to crack it open. By doing this the unicorn activated the evil with in that is now spreading across Equestria, poisoning the hearts and minds of all the creature and ponies that come into contact with it. Worse, older evil, evil that has been dormant since the great war is staring to awake. Shields are up around the Crystal Empire and Canterlot and ponies flee to find safety, while Celestia, Luna and Twilight try to find away to stop the evil. Cherish, Celestia and Luna sister, has faced this evil before and sets out with an unexpected partner to destroy the black crystal rock and help clear the land of the hateful poison.
