In the interstellar empire of Equestria, Twilight Sparkle, a student of the Royal Academy, has discovered a millenium old document prophesying the return of Nightmare Veil, a wicked mare of evil that once attempted to shroud the stars in eternal darkness. But instead of heeding her warning, her mentor and goddess, Princess Celestia, sends her away to a backwater colony called Ponyville to help prepare in the Summer Suns Celebration.
