The River and the Rain
A young earth pony named Rain Song learns to live her dreams, not other ponies'.
Rain Song could be considered the disappointment of her family: the only Earth pony in a family of pegasi (and a unicorn), she suffers a debilitating injury, but through it, discovers the joy of writing. Now she has the chance to redeem herself in the eyes of her family by becoming a brilliant lawpony, but on the way, she meets a handsome pegasus who shows her that there may be more to life than molding your personality to other ponies' expectations.
This is semiautobiographical, based on my life and my husband's... but, you know. If we were magical talking ponies.
