Twilight Sparkle was on top of the world. Jammed in the back of a dusty shelf of the Ponyville Library, she came upon a tome of magic unlike any other. Within its pages were housed spells from every genre, all in the same place – from evocation to divination, thaumaturgy to illusion. Spells designed to grow bumper crops, heal the sick, and deal with any situation she can think of, just by the flipping of a few pages.

Why then, did it turn out like this? Twilight's intentions were only to help her friends and her community, but in the past week, all she's wrought is cruelty. Warping emotional states, tearing apart families, and breeding hatred. No matter what spell she casts, there is always an unexpected side effect, prompting her to return to the book for answers. What's worse, she's managed to accidentally split her own consciousness into two seperate beings! A mare and a stallion, both insisting they are the real Twilight Sparkle, find that they must co-exist together or risk destroying themselves.

As days go by, Twilight quickly finds herself with no time left to end the torment she's unintentionally wrought. At the outset of our story, no less than an angry mob of Ponyville residents has set upon her, calling for justice against the crimes wrought by a mare who only had the best of intentions. Twilight and her counterpart are left with a choice – continue to resist and risk bringing more danger to those they care about, or giving themselves up to their pursuers, and facing whatever fate has been prepared for them. With the appearance of Princess Celestia in Ponyville, who had fallen mysteriously silent in her responses to Twilight's letters of guidance as of late, Twilight sees a faint shimmer of hope. Surely, the princess has the power to set things right, and to make people understand she never meant to hurt them. Finally, the dark days are over. Or are they?

The Grimoire Discordia Chronicles is a multi-part story beginning with events of the present day. The following six chapters beyond the prologue outline past events on Twilight's fall from grace, while the remaining chapters will continue in the present day, on the path to redemption and resolution.
