//-------------------------------------------------------// The Dawn Of Darkness -by Ultimate Starburst- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// When Sanity Cracks //-------------------------------------------------------// When Sanity Cracks A dawn of darkness         As the body stopped its frantic squirming, the invading object exerted itself from the twitching mess, giving way to a lifeless husk of a once prideful being, eyes now a lifeless window filled with death and regret, a final breath unnoticed by the calm that followed. With liquid rain pouring down from a singular point like rain coming from an individual, companion less cloud, scaring away the dark silence that used to be, the liquid of self-disgust swirled to every direction like an earthquake leaving cracks for discord to escape and bring chaos to the masses. As a vicious, white smirk punctured the murky overcast of grief, sadness and death, the liquid stopped its downpour and changed to shallow breaths that swirled the water into a single direction. As the gleaming smirk transformed into a satisfied smile, the jaws of fate began to move and open the jaw of a monster before boastful words poured out of its mouth like a river flowing calmly down its stream. “Do you give up? Or am I gonna have to show the world more of my dominate power to demonstrate how puny you really are compared to The Great and Powerful Trixie!” a tormenting laugh vibrated through the air as a blue figure entered through the darkness surrounding the disgruntled messes on the floor. As the figure continued its march through the smoke that swirled in the sky, the rubble scattered everywhere and the piles of misshaped figures lining the street of the once famous capital of the kingdom, not once did she spare a glance at the chaos around her. As she marched closer until she was a mere two steps away, did she bend down and stare in the eyes of a defeated being, like a hunter looks into the eyes of its pray and whispers, “This is what it felt like, to lose everything because you boasted, just a little bit to get ponies interested. To earn a living!” each word slithered out of her mouth with deadly precision and poison until the big impact to crash the shell of mercy surrounding the limp figure. As the slumped figure swayed its head to look away with shame present in its eyes for the whole world to see, did it finally look into the being looming over her like a hawk watching a dying animal, to see the pride ever present from the first encounter, to their last. When the figure moved, the predator stopped smiling immediately and looked directly into the eyes of her prey with captivating pressure and power, until the long and tense moment finally ended, she spoke again, “I see the look you are giving me, you beg Trixie to end your worthless excuse of a life but, I can’t do that because you’re the closet thing I've ever had to a friend, and like you always taught me” a victorious grin spread across her face once again, “Friendship is magic!”. As she pulled away, the broken figure lost all senses of life and fell hard into the cold and unforgiving ground with a large ‘thud’ which resounded across the broken and deserted streets of Canterlot. As the figure laid there, surrounded by hear own liquid regret, her lavender coat that contrasted with the dark and unforgiving moon falling and the slowly, looming figure of the sun in the distance, symbolising a true twilights decent into obscurity. When the figure started to trot away like a winner winning a prize, stepping over rainbows, apples, cupcakes, gems, butterflies and fire without sparing a glance at them like a god to its subjects, did she finally realise the burning pressure heating up the the air around her. “Oops, looks like I'm gonna have to go, but don’t you ever forget the mare that beat you, The Great and Powerful Trixie. Oh and Twilight, tell Celestia that Trixie sends her regards for another failure of a student”, another laugh punctured the empty streets of a once joyous city that resonated power and authority, the shops lining the streets that used to look and bring happiness are now pathetic excuses of buildings. As the heat began to rise dramatically, a white, flaming figure flow into the centre of the wreckage like a bomb ready to go off. When the figure landed, it immediately recognised the lavender figure laying on the floor surrounded by other colours that were strangely reminiscent of a rainbow that tried to shine but sadly became so dull. Not sparing a glance around, the figure glided over to the dying being, the heat going down the closer she got like a mother’s rage dissipating to try and comfort her daughter, revelling a god of pure white and gold. The closer she got did she finally realise the lavender figure was shaking quietly with fear radiating off her in waves. As the shaking increased, white wings wrapped themselves around her, emitting comfort and warmth until Twilight released her cry off pain that was breaking at the tip of her throat. The cry punctured the air with fierce, ferocity that transformed the silent ghost town into a carnival of torture. As the god stayed quiet, she kept her eyes on the shadows in the dark that crept towards them with deadly silence and skill. When the god noticed the numbers did she realise how dire her situation was. With a motherly tone did she speak, “Twilight, I'm so, so, sorry about what has happened but we must go, I will help you the best I can but please listen to me!” Twilight stayed quiet, only releasing quiet sobs like a broken record player releasing a repeat of a once full and beautiful song of innocence and fun. With the shadows moving closer at a alarming rate, the god began to beg Twilight to leave with her. Reluctantly, Twilight moved her head to the side, catching a glimpse of a green and black insect that hide amongst the buildings shadows. With tears dropping from her eyes, with one final goodbye, one final glimpse around at a her once proud city and birth place, a whisper to the lumps surrendering her did she say here final word of innocence, “Sorry” As a bright flash surrounded the pair, vanishing like the moon disappearing from the horizon, leaving only a trace of tears of a broken mare and 6 body’s to rot in the forgotten ruins of Canterlot, surrounded by the bugs of nightmares and the flames of hell, but they will never be forgotten by Twilight and the world.
