Wind ruffled the pegasus’s soft orange feathers as she prepared for her most daring stunt yet. Scootaloo gritted her teeth and hopped onto her favorite blue scooter, violet eyes narrowing in anticipation. She began buzzing her wings frantically, trying to gain enough momentum to push herself down the mountain. A lucky burst of wind was enough to finally send the tottering vehicle sliding down the mountain.
“WOOOOHOOOO!” shrieked Scootaloo, as Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle cheered her on. The Crusaders had realized that it was unlikely that all three of them were going to have the same talent, so they had each drawn straws to see who wanted to try first. Scootaloo had picked the shortest straw, and she guessed that her talent was scootering.
The orange filly continued racing down the hill at a breakneck speed, tangled purple mane streaming behind her. Was it possible to break the sound barrier on the ground? She hoped that she could -- then she might get her cutie mark just like Rainbow Dash did! Scootaloo realized then that she was heading straight for Ponyville -- more precisely, straight for the bakery on Sugar Cube Corner! The young pony screamed as she shot down the hill near the Crusaders’ treehouse and plunged straight into the tasty-looking bakery, making a Scootaloo-sized hole and coating her orange fur in vanilla icing and chocolate pudding.
“Echoo!” sneezed Scootaloo, poking her head out of the sugary mess. A familiar frizzy pink mane also appeared, followed shortly by a lighter pink head. Pinkie Pie shook off the spilled flour dusting her mane and looked around. “Is everypony oka -- oh, hi, Scootaloo!”
“Hi, Pinkie Pie,” Scootaloo replied, getting up and shaking off the sweet substances on her mane. She tugged her scooter out of the rubble and trudged out the hole she made, sighing. Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle met her there, ears tucked and heads drooping. “I guess we’ll do yours tomorrow, Apple Bloom; you picked the next shortest straw,” Sweetie Belle sighed. Apple Bloom’s ears suddenly perked up and she gave the other two ponies a devilish grin. “Meet me at the treehouse tomorrow morning -- Ah have an idea.” The three went their separate ways, wondering what Apple Bloom’s idea was -- and Scootaloo wondering if she’d ever get her cutie mark.
