Skyline arrived at the town line of Ponyville as the clock struck eleven AM. As he drove to the security checkpoint in his black 1972 Nissan Skyline 2000GTR, he took in the town from a distance, contemplating how his life would go from here. He was staring off at the town when a guard came up to his window and asked for his ID and papers.

His ID said he was of the Pegasus human variant. And it was half true. But it was also a lie. Yes, he did have wings, but he was really of the Alicorn variant. He has decided to keep his horn hidden for a good part of his life, and he has convinced everyone he has ever met that he was a pegasus, cut and dry. Even Celestia herself has no knowlege of his true self. He feared that if the public found out, he'd be forced into a life he wasn't ready to live.

The guards gave him his papers back, and Skyline pulled his car forward. He glanced at his map of the town to find the location of the garage he bought the previous week. Skyline was a bit of a grease monkey, his dark blue skin constantly having traces of oil and grease. He felt if he bought a garage, he could make a living from it. So he saved up his money, and, well..... here he was.

After finding the garage's location, Skyline threw the gears into 2nd and pulled away from the checkpoint, accelerating torward what he hoped was a clean slate. About half a mile from it, he started to pick up pace, his exhaust audible to anyone near. As he shifted it to 3rd gear, he saw a pink earth variant girl in the road. He quickly stopped his car and waited for her to cross. The girl was probably in her late teens, or maybe early twenties. She had (with no other word to describe it) poofy pink hair, a deeper shade than her skin. Skyline realised that the girl wasn't moving, and she was staring at him and his car. Skyline figures honking his horn would sound a bit harsh, so he patiently waited.

Suddenly, the girl bolted off in the direction of what looked like a bakery. Skyline raised his eyebrow, confused, but then focused back on the road and proceeded forward.

Soon, he reached his new home, a large building with three large garage doors, and a smaller door off to the left for customers. He parked his car in front of the first garage door, and fished the keys for his home out of his pocket. After finding them, he got out of his car to unlock the large door. When the lock popped open, Skyline pushed the door upward and secured it with the chain connected to it. Then he moved his car over to the nearest lift and pulled the handbrake.

Skyline took a look around the garage. The builders even put his equipment there. Hell, all the lifts were set up and ready for use. He was busy admiring his new home when a cyan colored girl came up behind him, hovering in the air with her wings.

The girl seemed to be a bit of a tomboy, and had these purpleish-red eyes, a color he couldn't seem to remember. She had Rainbow hair, and a shirt that displayed a rainbow lightning bolt shooting out of a cloud.

"Hey, you must be the new guy in town! I heard you were going to be running a garage, so I decided to keep an eye out for you. There are some mods I want done on my Mustang, So, can I bring it by later, perhaps?" She put on a large smile, as if she had been waiting for me for awhile.

"Uhhh..... sure, I guess..."

"Great!" she said. "Oh, and the name's Rainbow Dash, but call me RD if you like" She then flew off out of the garage, to who knows where.

Skyline remained where he stood, still suprised by her, but then relaxed when he realised he got his first customer, and thought to himself that today would be a good day. He walked up a set of steel stairs to his living area. When he got inside, he realized that it had glass wall that looked down upon the garage bay. He stood silently in front of this window, proud of where he has gotten, his past behind him. Hopefully.

He once heard the words of a man who took family seriously, and that man said, "I live my life a quarter mile at a time. In that stretch, nothing else matters. In those ten seconds or less, i'm free"

Skyline took those words to heart, and lived them to this day, everyday.

Skyline decided to go for a walk through town after he got all his things settled. He stepped out of the garage, and threw the deadbolt for the door. He pulled out a large paper and put it on the side of the building, proclaiming his hours of buisness.

Maybe this life will be better after all.

Skyline started walking alongside the road, looking around. He noticed structures like the bakery, the spa, the library.... all sorts of places he could visit. He then thought of an idea, and headed torward the library. He wanted to see what the had as far as Automotive Technology.

The library seemed to be built out of a large tree, and it was entitled "Golden Oaks Library" He opened the door, and found himself behind a purple unicorn telekinetically moving books around the room.

"Um, hello...?" Skyline asked.

The girl dropped all of the books and spun quickly. "Oh, hi there. Didn't hear you come in. You looking for a book?"

"Yeah. Got anything on automotive tech?"

"Oh, you're the new guy, and the new mechanic. Skyline, right?"

"Yep, that's me... Just moved in today"

"Well, i'm happy you're here. My friends will stop asking me to help them with their cars. They assume I know everything."

"Is a certain Rainbow Dash one of these friends?"

She snapped her gaze torwards me. "Yes, actually. How'd you meet her already?"

"She found me as soon as I got here. Seems like she's been waiting for me"

The girl sighed. "Yeah, that sounds a lot like Rainbow. She loves her car, and always wants it to go faster. After I started refusing to help her with her mods, she found out that you would be moving to town, so she eagerly awaited the day of your arrival. Trust me, you'll make a pretty penny off of her."

"To be honest, i'm not interested in money too much, although i'll still charge for my services.

"Then, if you dont mind me asking, why did you decide to move here?"

Skyline though for a while before answering. "Maybe because i thought i'd find something here I didn"t have at my old home." He hated keeping secrets from his new friend. But he had to.

"Where'd you live at before?"

"Canterlot"

"Ah. Ever see the Summer Sun Celebration?"

"Er, no. I, uh, didn't get out much then" That, and he was afraid Celestia was gonna detect and find out his secret.

"Uh huh. Well, I hope you find what you're looking for."

"Yea..... me too."

"Oh, I don't belive I told you my name. I'm Twilight. Twilight Sparkle." She handed a thick, heavy book to him. "Here's your book"

Skyline smiled. "Thanks."

Twilight went back to sorting books, and Skyline started walking back to him house. RD would be arriving soon.

Sure enough, Rainbow Dash was in front of his garage, spinning her keychain on her finger. Skyline said hi and unlocked the garage door beside the one where his car was. "Drive it in slowly, stop when your tires are on the yellow marks"

She drove her 2013 Ford Mustang GT500 into the garage slowly, then coming to a halt in the spot Skyline told her to stop on. She got out, and tossed him the keys. "Mind if I stay?"

Skyline smirked. "Not at all. Hell, we can chat if you want. But first, what kind of mods did you have in mind?"

She rubbed the back of her neck. "I blew the trans."

Skyline chuckled. "How'd you do that?"

"Nothing"

"Tell me"

"It's nothing"

"No explanation, no work"

Rainbow smiled. "Stubborn. You and I got that in common. As far as how I blew the transmission, I was, ah, going to fast, and I needed to brake, so I kinda downshifted through all the gears without the clutch"

Skyline winced. "Ouuch. You're lucky that's the only problem" Skyline pulled a toolbox over and began to remove the support housing bolts.

For about three hours, Skyline worked on the car while he talked to Rainbow Dash. And, here and there, when she wasn't paying attention he'd use subtle magic to help his endeavor.

"-Ford is totally better", Rainbow was arguing.

"Woah woah woah, no way. One word. NIS-MO." He enunciated the word excessively.

"Nope."

"Yeah? How 'bout Subaru Technica International?"

"What?"

Skyline scoffed. "STI. Subarus, basically."

"What, those Flat Fours?"

"Hell yeah!"

"Pfft. V-8 is how I roll."

"Heh, well, you're missing out"

"I'm sure I am" She was careful to use heavy sarcasm.

Skyline laughed, tightening the last bolts. "Should be good to go. And use the clutch this time so you don't grind those gears up"

She smiled a little. "Sure thing, Dad. And don't think you've seen the last of me"

Skyline sat on the hood of his car as she pulled out of the garage and drove off. He was watching her drive off when a deep red 1970 Dodge Charger R/T sped by in the same direction. Skyline watched as the Charger slid in front of the blue Mustang and the driver got out and approached Rainbow's window. Skyline got into his car and peeled out of the garage torward the two and powerslid his car next to where they were. He got out and said, "What's goin' on here?"

The other driver was an orange earth variant girl who wore a cowboy hat, a short-sleeved flannel, and jeans. She also had green eyes and freckles.

"Hey, Sky." Rainbow said.

The other girl glanced at her. "Ya know 'im?"

"Yeah. The new mechanic."

Skyline spoke next. "Okay, look, all i'm doing is making sure you two aren't in a fight. So, that being said, One, who is she?" He nodded in the other girl's direction. "-and second, why'd you call me Sky?"

Rainbow replied,"Well, this is Applejack- from Sweet Apple Acres- and better known as AJ. As for me calling you Sky, well, because since your name is Skyline, I thought Sky would be a nice nickname."

"Alright fine, call me Sky. And it's nice to meet you AJ."

Applejack tipped her hat. "Same 'ere. I see ya did a fine job on 'er trans."

Skyline said,"You know about it?"

She smirked. "Yea, I watched her practically destroy her gears right next to me."

"Hey!", Rainbow interjected.

"Wait, were you two racing?", Skyline asked,".... Illegally?" Skyline smirked. "Who won?"

Applejack raised her eyebrow. "Yer not gonna rat us out?"

"I may have raced a bit in my past-" skyline stopped. His past should stay hidden in the depths of tartarus.

Rainbow was a bit agitated. "Hey, I would've beaten you"

"As if" Applejack bragged."So, what do you drive? That?" She nodded over to his Nissan.

"As a daily driver. You should see my other cars"

Applejack got into her car and rolled down the window. "Lead th' way. I wanta see this."

Rainbow got in her car as well.

"Fine." Skyline got into his Nissan and drove to his garage, with the two girls following

When he got the garage built, he requested that a small warehouse be built out back. Thay had it built for him, and Skyline got his car collection shipped there afterwards. They drove to his garage, and drove down the wide side alley. After turning left, he parked next to the large garace door for the warehouse, and the girls parked next to his car. Skyline got out of his car and pulled out his keys and found one that said WRHS. He put the key into the lock and turned, and the door shifted. He then grabbed the door and pushed it up, and secured it. He motioned the girls inward.

Skyline had another ability with his magic, and it was to go to other dimensions. After visiting Earth, he had wanted to start a car collection, and using time and space to his advantage, he managed to get a bit of a stockpile. But, of course, he dare not reveal his true self. Not now. Maybe not ever.

"Here we are."

Skyline collected many cars, everything from a 1970 Plymouth Hemi Barracuda to a 2013 Lamborghini Murcielago Super Veloce. Some of his favorites included a 2013 Hundai Veloster Turbo, a 2002 Nissan Skyline GTR R34 V-Spec II NUR, and a 2008 Subaru WRX STI.

The girls stood in awe. "Shoot, tha's a lotta cars" Applejack said.

"Yeah. Just... Yeah" Rainbow said.

Skyline sighed." Yeah. I used to race. I dont do it a lot anymore."

"Why not?" Rainbow asked.

"It's something i'd rather keep to myself." He then saw the sympathetic look on her face. "Maybe some other day..."

And then he smiled. "Wanna go at it?"

Applejack crossed her arms. "Quarter mile?"

Skyline heard the quote about life in his head again. "Yes. Definitely"

"Don' bring somthin' too fast"

"I know."

Applejack casually got in her car. Ranbow did the same. "Meet us at Sweet Apple Acres. Its 'bout a quarter mile from Town Hall." Rainbow said.

Skyline nodded, and then the two pulled away. As they left, Skyline stood staring at his cars. After a bit of looking, he found his 1998 Toyota Supra JZ80 SZ-R. As he got in, and started the engine, he chuckled. Those girls are gonna regret this.

Skyline revved the engine, the twin turbos whining loudly. He threw the lever into 1st and floored it out of the garage, and drifting into the alley, torward his race.
