Hello everypony. it’s me, FrostBite. I have been meaning to tell you about my life up until I found Twilight and the others. I’m going to start out by explaining the times when I was a young colt.

When I was a foal, I was always told by my mother that I had something special. I’m not sure what that meant, heck, isn’t that what all mothers tell their children? I remember I used to spend hours just sitting there, looking at my mother. I didn’t understand why, I just did - maybe it had something to do with her appearance? I was a Pegasus like her, while my father was an earth pony. I was very fortunate to get my wings, as the chances of receiving the gift of very small. She was such a beautiful mare, her eyes were of sapphires, which glistened in the light of both day and night. Her mane was ice blue and white, like pure gold, flowing in a cascade. She bore the cutie mark of snow, she was indeed something else. I vividly all the times I used to spend with her, actually, much of my time was spent with her.

“Come here Frosty! I know you can do it! “ SnowDancer, that was her name, said happily. “Oh-o-o-okay” I said, trying to fly for the fifth time. It wasn’t easy, I didn’t have quite the right timing with flapping my wings, and I was still pretty weak, but I didn’t want to let my mother down, so I gave it one more go. I put all of my effort into it, and I began to flap, faster and harder than before. I took flight, managing to get off the ground, but as quickly as I took off, my stamina gave in and I fell onto my face. “Oh! My baby! Are you alright?”, my mother exclaimed, flying over towards me. Out of the shock of the impact and the pain, I began to cry, almost uncontrollably. Right away she knew what to do, she comforted me quickly, “Shhhhh, no need to cry, Frosty. Mommy’s got you.” It was working, to a certain extent. I was still startled and upset at the same time, and continued to sob, “I-I-I love you, mommy.” Smiling, she picked me up and began to carry me home “Oh, I love you, Frosty. You are, and always will be, my little Frosty.” Half way home, the exhaustion from trying to fly and the crying finally caught up with me, and I began to get sleepy, letting out a big yawn. “Oh, it looks like somepony’s starting to get sleepy”, my mother light-heartily said. I immediately try to shake it off, “Me? N-no I’m no-” I let out another yawn before I could finish my sentence. Finally, we arrive home. My mother opened the front door, and immediately carried me to my bed. As always, she lead me from the waken world into a peaceful slumber with her lullaby:

Hush now, quiet now
It's time to lay your sleepy head
Hush now, quiet now
It's time to go to bed

Hush now.. Quiet now
It's time to lay your sleepy head
Said hush now Quiet now

It's time to go to bed
Driftin' off to sleep...
The exciting day behind you...
Driftin' off to sleep...
Let the joy of dream land find you..

Hush now Quiet now.
Lay your sleepy head..
Said hush now Quiet now...
It's time to go to bed....

With the last words of the lullaby, I began drifting off to sleep. Last I remember hearing was the warm voice of my mother saying, “Good night, my little Frosty.” I then feel the warm kiss from her on my forehead.

Next next morning, I awoken from a great night’s sleep. After rubbing my eyes to clear vision and stretching away the sleep inertia, I quickly gained my bearings and remembered, it was my birthday! After the realization, I quickly sprung out of bed and galloped out of my room to my mother. “Mommy! Mommy!” I shouted as I leaped towards her, grabbing onto her leg. She looked down and smiled, “Oh! Well would you look, it’s the Birthday boy!” “Ah, so it is!” my father, Stargazer said, “Come here, son!” he said as he knelt down, opening his hooves widely. I galloped towards him, throwing myself in for a hug. I nestled my face against his short white mane. “Ah, that’s my boy!” he said, before we parted our warm embrace. “Hey! I have an idea!”, he exclaimed, looking at me with his onyx eyes, “Why don’t you go outside? I’ll be out there in a jiffy!”

Filled with a cocktail of mixed emotions, mainly joy and excitement, I ran out the door. I waited for a couple minutes, and I heard some murmuring coming from the still opened door. After a little while longer, I went back to the door. “Dad, you coming out?” I asked. He and my mother looked at each other for a moment, “Yeah! I’ll be right out!” After a moment, I notice my mother fly off into town. “Alright! Here I come, Frosty!” my father shouted as we trotted out. We rough-housed in the grass for a while. It was such a joy, playing with my father in the light of mid-morning. Not a care in the world, the excitement of what is to come on my day. Speaking of which, I asked him, “When can I get my presents?” He hesitated for a quick second “Oh, umm.. Mommy is taking care of that right now!”

Shortly thereafter, I saw mother arriving, having returned from her trip in town. “Oh Frosty! Look what I have!” she said, as she held out a blanket. It was of blue, bright blue, like the glaciers you see in the north of Equestria. It was accented with white snowflakes, all of different shapes and sizes. At first I was struck with excitement, it was merely a blanket, but there was something to it. Something that made a piece of cloth a true work of art. After the flow of excitement, much like the numbing flow of adrenaline you get after you hurt yourself badly, it sunk in. The joy of everything, the thought behind the gift, set me in tears of joy. “M-mommy!” I shouted as I ran to her. I gave her a tight embrace, while my eyes still flowed of tears. My mother immediately attempted to comfort me, “Oh, my. Why are you crying, Frosty? There is no need to cry.” she warmly and kindly said. Still in tears, I was given the blanket, and rubbed my face against it. The soft fleece of the blanket was like that of a cloud. The feeling against my face was... euphoric, in a way. “Iilaswuawyew...” I mumbled as my face was still pressed into the fleece.

“Heh, what was that, honey?” mother asked. I snapped out of my euphoria and immediately pulled the blanket from my face. “Thank you, mommy and daddy... I love you both, so very much.” I choked out, as a tear fell from my face. “Oh, great. Here comes the water works.” father said in a seemingly abraded voice, quickly greeted with a snap back from mother “Oh, hush Star!” I wasn’t really phased by either of them, I was so overjoyed with my new gift, all I knew is that I never wanted these times to end. “I hope that we will stay together, forever!”

Over the next few months, I spent much of my time learning and training to stay aloft, building the strength and stamina of my wings. It wasn’t easy, as I also had to keep the timing of my flapping just right so that I stay in the air, without gaining too much altitude. I wasn’t ready for that yet, the fear of the height would cause my wings to seize and I would quickly drop from the sky. One day, though, one day, I finally got it down. I was finally able to hover in one spot, I wasn’t wobbly, and I was able to stay in the air for a good while. After that, I began to move in directions I chose to go to, without doing so inadvertently. Then I began to pick up speed, then banked to the left, then the right, and so on. I couldn’t believe it, in one single day I had a sudden spike in my flying abilities! I was beyond excited, I was flooded with emotions of accomplishment, relief, joy, and more.

“Mommy! Mommy! Look! I’m doing it! I’m flying!” I shouted as I flew in an almost circular parth around her, as I just started to get hang of control. When her eyes met mine, I saw that glow in her eyes of a blue, she was proud of me, “Frosty! Great! Wonderful job!” I made my mother proud, the distraction of thoughts and emotions threw me off. I fell from the sky, but thankfully, she was right underneath me and was able to catch me. I was greeted with a warm hug by her, “Oh, son, I’m so proud of you!” I couldn’t help but smile back at her, it felt so great to make her proud. “Honey! Come out her, quick! Frost is flying now!” she exclaimed towards the open window of the house. Next thing I see is the front door swinging open and father galloping out of the house.

“What’s that? What’s going on? Did I hear our son is flying now?” he shouted ecstatically as he came towards us. My involuntary grin grew even more, and began hurting my cheeks, “Yes daddy! I am!” He threw his hooves open, “Oh, come here you!” Mother sets me down, and I spring into father’s arms for a hug. “Okay son,” he says as he puts me down, “show daddy!” My eyes are lit up with excitement, and immediately I begin to flap my wings once more to take to the air. After doing some laps higher up, I decide to see how low I can fly to the ground, finding myself flying around father. It felt awesome, gaining more and more control and precision as I fly longer and longer. “Yes!” I thought to myself, “I’m doing it! I’m finally able to-” just then, father grabbed me from the air and squeezed me in another hug. “Dad! Hey!” I shouted, all in which my mother and father responded by laughter.
