There was never a normal life for Shade because he lived with his father for his hole life he never really had a lot of time with his mother because she died when he was at a young age nopony realy accepted them because of that. It was wierd for a pony to die in Equetria so they could never settle down in a town let alone a big city like Canterlot they tried almost everywhere the only place left would be ponyville, if that did not work then they would need to leave equstria and live in oje of those frozen wasteland. no one realy spent enough time aroud them to know why they cant stay in a town for more than year. Tto be friends with anypony who is linked with someone's death other than old age you would be as much as an outsider as them. It was a cruel fate to live in Equestria without a parent. although thing were always different for Shade and his father they never quite fit in even with Shade's mother there was always somthing different about him. After his mother died they struggle to keep aflot with Shade's father being an earth pony he had so little choice in jobs and with almost no one giving him a job he had a hard time getting enough bits to get through the week.
Shade saw Ponyville like another temporary place for him to hang low while his father finds another place to live he was so use to this life that its the only thing he knows best, running and hiding. he never really had enough time with his mother, his father called it a crime that his son only had three years with her the last day he had with her was his third birthday he wasn't old enough to understand why she left him his father told him for years that she left for a job and tbat she would come back one day. on his 10th birthday his father finally told him what really happened to his mother he ran from his house for five day's his father did not blame him when he came back it was already time to leave for Ponyville.
Once in Ponyville they got the same reaction that they got in every town, insulted and shunt. they moved into there house without a hitch and without a welcome. It was wierd, a place full of love for only pony that are normal but if you are not you will have a hard time fitting in.
after a month of being homeschooled Shade was bored and wanted to get some fresb air but there was a storm scheduled for this day and his father went to his job, he was working at the sweetapple accers the Apple family was nice enoughvto give a job to him because Applejack and Bigmac eere just like shade their parents died when they were born the only reason theyvwere accepted was because Applejack was one of the elements of harmony so she was treated like royalty. it was a seemingly normal day for Shade's father, wake up eat work come home taught Shade sleep repeat. but today he decided to stop by the market he got the reaction he was use to. he got some food some cloth and strangly enough he stoped at Roseluck's table to buy some flowers she thaugh that he was going to eat them but she found herself asking im why he was geting them she remembers him saying "aren't you a courageous pony or do you not know the implication of talkjg to me." she remembers his holow broken tone hidden behind his voice she felt sad for him he didn't seem different he did not choose this fate all he needs is a friend, perhaps more so she say'd she knew the implication but she did not care for this rule. he was always suprised whn someone would talk to him but this was the first time that somepony would continue the conversation he felt pity for her so he asked if she would come over she was glad that she could see what all the hipe was about so she accepted to come over.
Shade's dad was happy but reluctant at the same time because this has happened before somepony fake's being nice to get close to them and Shade was hurt by that pony he never really trusted strangers after that so he decided t keep it a secret from Shade util the best time would come up. He would almost never let anypony into there house but there was something different about Roseluck like she needed this as much as they did. It was getting incrisingly hard for him to hide this from Shade because he was cleaning up from the house as much as he could before she would arive.
It felt like ages for im waiting for her to come over, he nearly had a heart attack when the doorbell rang. it was not uncommon for ponys to show up in Ponyville after all it was the city that housed the six elements of harmony so they could hide in the shadow but every now amd then ponys would show up asking for directions so Shade was not at all phase by the doorbell that rang.
That day was a monumental day for Shade because that was the day that changed hs life it was the start of his new life even if he did not know it at tbe time he still remembers that day like it was yesterday the rain jus started to fall and it was pretty bad outside, so much that Shade's father was affraid that she would not show up and the person who rang the doorbell was just a pony looking for refuge but he was always optmistic sometimes so much that he installed falls hope in Shade shade was not so optimistic but as soon a Shade's father opened the door he felt very happy Shade remembers that firmiliar broken voice call up " hey Shade come down i have a suprise for you." he did not know why but he was more sad when it was a very stormy night.
"Is it more homework? because i'll be so glad to do that," he remembered his sarcastic tone echo through the old hollow house. He did not know why but his father seemed more strict in this moment he always let Shade be distant, it was his way of protecting himself from getting hurt again.
"Stop being a smart mouth and come down here, I think you'll be pleasantly suprised."
It has been almost a month that Roseluck visited for the first time. It was not the last time that she visited infact it seemed like she was into Shade's father. Sometimes she would come over and eat dinner, sometimes he goes over for a long period of time. its not like he does not know what colts and mares did when they were alone, his father was a great teacher even if it was an awkward subject.
It was infact the total opposite he was just glad to have a friend outside of work, sure it was nice for him to hang around with Bigmac but that was work Bigmac had a family to take care of, so before he met Rose Shade's father was a pretty sad person but he could not, not for his son because one pony dead is bad but two parents dead is even worst. he needed a friend and Roseluck was there for him when he needed her the most. Sure she got wierd looks and eventualy got shunt but Shade's father was the nicest pony she ever met.
After another month Shade feelt like he never got to see his father anymore he was spending most of his evenings with Roseluck. He thought that she was taking his father from him, most of his evening classes were being canceled because his father was "To busy." to do it. He thought that his dad liked Roseluck more than he liked Sade and he was going to see who we liked best.
As Shade waited around for his father to come home he decided to take a little nap, after all frustration can make you very tired. As he sat there he could not help but feel selfish forcing his father to choose between two people that he loves very much, his son that he lived with his whole life and finally somepony that he needed in his life, a friend. He always had the idea that he ruined his fathers life, after all he would get less attention if it was just his wife that he lost but with a son he got a lot more attention then he wanted. after sulcking a bit he seemed to have lost most of his anger to his father now putting all the blame on himself. he decided that he would let hs father do what he wanted even if it was to blank out his own son out of the picutre. It has been a while that he was waiting for his father to come back and it was getting pretty late and Shade was getting more and more tired so he went upstairs so he could go to bed.
the next morning Shade's father woke up in a a different house that he is use to. The fact was that he fell asleep on Roseluck's couch after drinking to much, ever since he has been visiting her house he has taken a prety big lliking to whine or any other asorted alcoholic beverage. he could smell the smell of lilacs and was getting prety hungry. Rose sudenly bursted into the room with a plate of lilacs. As they indulged themselves Rose brought up the topic of school and that maybe it would be a good idea to let Shade into school after all it would occupy his days and maybe he could make some friends. Shade's father was reluctant because he was afraid that he might get made fun of but after Roseluck made some good points he decided to see how this would play out and he went to his house to tell him the good news.
As Shade started to wake up he opened his eyes little by little and was awaken by the familiar face of his father looking at him with a big grin on his face he pushed himself out of the bed so he could ask why his father what was making him so happy. As he got his barings he noticed that his dad had a note sticking out of his sadlebags. Shade remembers asking hisfather what that note was he responded with a further tone "In good time son now come and join me i made breakfast."
