After a spell goes wrong during one of Twilight’s private lessons with Celestia, the young unicorn unwittingly tears a rift through reality and ends up trapping herself in Tartarus. Now after thirty years (Tartarus time) of being trapped in the dark realm Twilight finds a way to escape back into Equestria. But she has no memories of the life she once had outside of Tartarus, no memories of her loved ones, and no memories of Equestria itself. Being gifted with extremely powerful dark magic, and burdened with even darker secrets of her time in Tartarus, Twilight feels it would be best if she leaves Equestria and live her life in solitude. But Celestia feels it would be best for Twilight if she discovers the magic of friendship, and she knows just the ponies to help. Along the way to finding friendship and integrating herself back into society, Twilight must find a way to leave her past behind her and move on with her life, and perhaps even find love.

But soon the life she has rebuilt for herself is threatened by old enemies from her past who have come back for her blood. Can Twilight’s new found magic of friendship be enough to protect herself and her loved ones? Or will she have to once more rely on her dark powers? After all, not all darkness can be fought with light. Sometimes it requires another kind of darkness. (Book Two being worked on now.
