Nevermore, an avid soul collector of many worlds wanders planes to add to his collection. However, the gates of Tartarus was unstable, its energy used for a portal for a fiend filled with bloodlust, hate, and corrupted passion. The soul-thirsty demon seeks out Shining Armor and Princess Cadence's unborn baby. His reasons for their baby are unknown, but his abominable rage razes and scorches the lands he treks across. A being full of relentless hatred will stop at nothing and will obliterate everything in his path. As the merciless Nevermore ravages Equestria, it's only a matter of time before he gets to Cadence.

Nevermore, the Shadow Fiend is a hero in Dota 2. You do not need to play the game to understand this story. Another side note: written when under the influence.

Prologue: You're mine, heart and soul!

The Abysm is a whirling black pool, an everlasting nightmare. A place where darkness is light, a place of no beginning of no end. It has no shape and no space. It is infinite and will be forever. In this accursed realm, a deep and dark chuckle echoed throughout the abyss. A sense of evil and malice dripped with each sound. “Ah, yes, souls!!” Nevermore, the Shadow Fiend gathered the essence of the spirits around his corrupted body. He gave a sigh of satisfaction, the very souls he reaped as a part of his power. Distant wailings and cries of the souls were muted underneath his malicious laughter.

“Yes, my beautiful collection,” Nevermore said to himself. His voice was a mixture of others, the only last identities of the ones he has slain. His vast volume of souls expanded beyond comprehension. His obsession was his passion, making him more powerful with each soul he collected. His long claws cut through small lights that circled him, radiating red lights from his core.

Nevermore gleamed and embraced his power. Yes, this was good. But it was not enough. He turned around and growled. He began to feel a pull in the Abysm. “What is this?” he said, the darkness in his voice overwhelming himself. ”Yes! A soul!!” he rasped. “Yes! Yes, yes, yes, yes!!” He continued to cackle and used his powerful hands to rip apart the abyss before him. “My little soul, I’m coming for you!”

He ripped himself through and let out a laugh.

This was going to be another world for his taking.
