Stormy winds and chickens
There was an eerie silence that blanketed over Ponyville, every dark gloomy cloud in the world floated high in the infinite sky. Even the immortal sun was blotted out by the thick layer of dark, ominous cloud cover. Everything was still; seemingly frozen in time on the ground, leaves of apple trees never shifting, the streets and shop fronts were left deserted as the pony folk had long since ran for cover from the impending storm that would surely come. The pegasi weather team had to relinquish their duties to the royal teams of Canterlot, the rather pushy and arrogant pegasi from far off county insisting that they push their bad weather onto Ponyville so they would not have to suffer the loss of a brilliant day of their own.
The loyalist of ponies, Rainbow Dash, was, not surprisingly in the least, quite adamant and beside herself over having the entire storm of Canterlot moved just so casually to Ponyville. But it wasn’t just the newly foretold forecast that got to her, nor was it the rude and callous group of royal weather controllers, nether that she and her team had to roll over and accept their ‘gift’. No, it was the thought that her friends’ days would be completely ruined by the impending storm, a day she was looking forward to as always as an opportunity to help, or even get to know a little better of her friends. Her day had been ruined by Canterlot’s pegasi, but a grudge against them could wait for her attention until after she had visited her friends, a little bad weather that hadn’t even come to fruition would not stop her from being loyal to her set plans.
The flight through Ponyville was rather pleasant, despite the less the favourable conditions, no sudden gusts were offered to impede her flight. Come to think of it, the storm had little negative effects other then aesthetic ones.
Scootaloo knew that Rainbow Dash would be making her rounds across the skies of Ponyville, the less then pleasant weather proved it. The filly was huddled under a blanket next to a roaring fireplace, staring rather longingly through the single window as her other filly friends played around her. She was waiting for somepony, whose word was all she needed.
As it turned out, Scootaloo was very good at keeping a secret, even though the fact that she was an orphan was on a need to know basis. The orphanage was on the out skirts of Ponyville, a distance easily shortened by her scooter, everypony just figured she had a home to herself, which in essence she did.
Rainbow Dash had spotted her riding her scooter back to the orphanage, and decided to ask what a filly was doing so far from town. Scootaloo knew she was caught and decided to tell Rainbow Dash, the only pony she admired and trusted. Much to the filly’s relief, Rainbow was understanding, even going so far as to say she suspected some similar story to come from Scootaloo.
The orphanage was a nice place to stay, it really took her mind off not having an actual home, or family like her other filly friends. She never longed for a real home for too long, the other orphans kept her company, kept her busy and safe. Today was a day that made her happy; she had something to look forward to now.
