Prologue
Thomas P.O.V
“THOMAS GET UP!!” Is what I hear fallowed by bombs whistling to the grounds and the sounds of screams of pain and insanity. “Rifles ready men, set your bayonets and wait for the whistle” one called out, this meant one thing we’re going over the top, something I still fear. I loaded my rifle up set my bayonet quite sturdy and hoping a bomb won’t hit me or I come back alive and now at the end of some Germans rifle, these were the same thoughts I had for the pass month.
*bombs hit the trench*
I look to my far right to see most of my comrades were wounded or dead. I turn away quickly; not wanting to throw up at the sight. The last words were from Major Hoffman part of the 48th Highlanders of Canada “Gentlemen may god be with you”. The whistle blew and up the ladder I go. The sight I received was gruesome the dead were everywhere, hanging on barb wire, floating in puddles and lying on the ground. I charged at the German trench bullets whizzing by bombs exploding near me that happen all at once. Getting closer to German trench then I hear “incom-”and everything went black.
