Long Lost Friends Part 1

The early morning sun was shining all over Ponyville. The birds were chirping, the water was flowing through the river, and everypony was sleeping. But, they won't be for long. Because today, it was the first day of school for the new fillies and colts.  Or the ones that already went to school last year. So they have to get up.

Twilight was happily sleeping in her warm, comfy bed with her Smarty Pants doll close to her side. When all of a sudden, somehow, a tiny line of sunlight managed to beam sunshine near her eyes. She squinted her eyes, even though they were still shut, and finally opened them, to see the beautiful Celestia sun. She raised from her bed, yawned, then stretched her limbs.

"Oh my gosh!" Twilight began, "It's the first day of school!"

Twilight then got out of her bed, and immediately started going through anything that she might need for the first day of school.

"Now let's see: pencil's, check, note book, check, crayons, check, saddle bag, check..." her stomach growled.

"Heh heh, food, un-check."

She put all of her items in her saddle bag, then headed downstairs to get some breakfast. Then remembered that her mother told her before she went to bed,

"If Shining Armor isn't up when you head downstairs, wake him up." she stopped in front of his door and knocked.

"Hey, Shining! It's time to get up!" Twilight shouted.

No response. She knocked a little bit harder and yelled a little louder.

"Shining! Wake up!" she heard a tired grumble on the other side of the door. Twilight opened the door and saw her brother's head underneath his pillow, blocking the sun light. She ran over to the side of his bed.

"Come one big brother, it's the first day of school!"

"Ugh, tell mom I'm sick." Shining grumbled.

"You don't sound sick."

"Well, I am."

Twilight got up on top of him, then started jumping up and down.

"Come on! Wake up, wake up, wake up, wake up, wake up, wake up, wake up..."

"Fine, geez!"

"Yay!"

They both headed down stairs when suddenly, they smelt the most amazing smell of all time. The sweet smell of delicious home-made pancakes made my a loving mother.

When they entered the kitchen, they saw their father reading the "Daily Ponyville", and their mother cooking those delicious pancakes. She saw Twilight and Shining enter, then levitated a plate full of pancakes to the table, three plates other plates for the family, and some forks.

"Good morning Twilight, good morning Shining Armor." their mother happily greeted them.

"Good morning mom!" Twilight and Shining said at the same time.

"How did you two sleep?"

"I was too excited to sleep, but I did anyway." Twilight responded.

"I was just fine sleeping, but Twilight woke me up." Shining Armor gave Twilight kind of a mean look.

"Now Shining Armor, don't give your sister that look."

"Yes mother." Shining quickly gave in. Last time he talked back to her, he had to do some work for his father. And he knew how much of a pain that was.

"Now, finish your breakfast, go brush your teeth, then I'll take you both to school." their mother said.

"Okay mom." Twilight said happily.

"Sure." Shining said not so happily.

After they were done eating, they headed upstairs to the bathroom so they can brush their teeth. As they were doing so, Twilight was thinking, why wasn't Shining Armor excited for school as she was. Because last year, it was his first day of school and he was REALLY excited, and now this.

After doing what their mother told them to do, they both got their supplies for school, then they were off. As they were walking, Twilight kept an eye on Shining Armor, and still, he was still being, mopey. Since their mother was trotting a little faster then they are, Twilight decided to ask Shining Armor what's wrong.

"Hey big brother?" Twilight asked.

"Yeah?"

"Why aren't as excited for school as you were last year?"

Shining Armor sighed, "Well, I wanted to go to that Canterlot Guard school in Canterlot. But mom and dad said I have to be attending a normal school like everyone else. But the thing I really want to do, is have a chance to be one of the Canterlot Guards."

Twilight thought about his answer, and she was a little heart broken actually. First, her brother doesn't like Ponyville as much as she does. Second, what if they DO have to go to Canterlot? What if they move away, and all of her best friends will be left behind? She sighed.

"Come one you two!" their mom yelled out to them, "We still have to get you to school!"

At the Sweet Apple Acres farm, Big Macintosh and Applejack were already ready for school.

"Alrighty then, are ya two ready?" Granny Smith asked both of her grand children.

"I'm ready!" Applejack replied happily.

"Eyup."

"Okay, then let's git going."

"Uh, Granny?" Applejack interjected.

"Yes?"

"Aren't ya forgetting something?"

"Hmm....Oh, that's right."

Granny Smith put on a baby saddle on her back, then put little filly Applebloom in it.

"Okay, NOW let's go."

They finally left their humble home, and were off to school. As they walked, Applejack seemed very excited to be going to school.

"Oh boy, ah'm sure excited to meet mah friends again!"

Big Macintosh didn't reply. Why? Because he never had any friends. Throughout his first school year, he never made a single friend. Mostly because he was to shy to talk to anypony. Applejack looked at her brother and saw the sad look on his face.

"Oh, sorry Big Mac. Ah forgot ya'll didn't have no friends."

"Eyup." he replied sadly.

"Oh come on, ah'm sure you can make one of the bestest friends in Equestria!"

That cheered Big Macintosh a little bit. Hearing his little sisters optimism, kinda made him feel better.

Both families were making their way to school, and eventually they did. But, when both of the families were outside of the school door, that's when Big Macintosh saw HER.

This is part of an introduction, where everypony is a filly or a colt. I don't know how many intro parts there will be, so you know.
